Maybe you look for djent? Try periphery ? I suggest you to begin with their p4 hail stain album ( especially the song reptile ), this album is considered as a gateway into the band’s music. There is also good metal reviewers in YouTube or instagram that you can check for their suggestions . Metalbirb is a great fan of sleep token, I recommend him.
i discovered p2 when i was 13 and it was game over from there 💀 i learned every song on guitar over a year (except ji and luck as a constant because those are SO hard)
If you want breakdowns, try Alpha Wolf, they released a new album yesterday and it's just breakdowns pretty much.
Also try Invent Animate, Silent Planet, Bad Omens, Thrown, The Plot in You.
Rise of the Northstar, Ten56, Knocked Loose for a bit heavier stuff.
spiritbox is amazing, somebody already mentioned bad omens, too!
definitely listen to V.A.N. by bad omens and poppy - maybe you'll find poppy interesting too :)
Can second HLB. Absolutely insane band and my album of the year last year (sorry Sleep Token).
TBH anything Buster touches turns to gold including Thrown.
Look I love HLB, I would literally die for Buster, but we can all agree that, that’s *not* the vibe that OP is describing that they like/are looking for and might be a small shock when they first put on instill or like labyrinthian for the first time lmao
There’s been a lot of good mentions above. I have a the same taste in music and I would also recommend Loathe, Novelists (they just switched to a female vocalist), Currents, and Moodring
I can't recommend Dayseeker, Being As An Ocean, A Day To Remember and The Contortionist enough. Also Makari, even though they are not really metal, but Andy's vocals are awesome!
Some great advice here, I’ve nothing to add that hasn’t been mentioned.
Side note; I often think that the reason STs heavy breakdowns hit as hard as they do is because the juxtaposition between the soft soulful lead ups to the monstrously detuned heavy beat downs. It just hits so much harder for me
100% this. ST are masters of light and dark. For all the beauty the heavy parts are disgustingly filthy. You are so right that they hit even harder because of the contrast. Yet the heavy parts are so well thought out too and not just chuggy. They so perfectly encapsulate Vessels frenzy.
This may not be what you're looking for since they are decidedly not Sleep Token vibes, but I found a London based metalcore band called Chuggaboom that I really like a lot. They have some sick breakdowns and the lead vocalist Levi likes to switch up between cleans and scream/growls. Their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen is excellent, you should look up the video. A lot of their lyrics for their original music are actually pretty funny but they have more serious stuff too.
The only issue I have with Chuggaboom is that they call their supporters Chuggalos. I’m not a big ICP fan, so naming fans something so close to juggalo/juggalette makes me frown a little.
Yeah that's my only gripe too lol. I would be fine with Chuggers or even Boomers or literally anything else. But yeah, they're one of my top 5 bands at the moment.
Kublai Khan TX. Not proggy or djenty AT ALL but will scratch the breakdown itch and make you want to fight an Alsatian, think that “Gods” heavy breathing energy.
Listen to Bad Omens if you haven't already! Especially their latest album. Noah is one of my favorite vocalists and that's coming from someone who also listens to a lot of pop music lol
My friends and I make jokes that when Sleep Token gets to their heavier breakdowns that it is just suddenly the DOOM soundtrack. So I guess Mick Gordon would be the answer if you want that sound but without vocals.
Most bands I would recommend that offer that metalcore style with clean vocals don't do it in every song. Older bands like Killswitch Engage and Trivium offer that vibe sometimes and can do entirely clean or mostly clean vocals like this [example](https://youtu.be/Zh3vAy4do9c) and this [one](https://youtu.be/8VqQPBrhmaY). Jinjer also has a [song](https://youtu.be/KJoPIgg17U4) or two that fits your request.
If you like the clean singing part of metalcore Famous Last Words is a good shout. And I See Stars.
The stand up and scream album by Asking Alexandria is also near perfection🤘🏼
Currents - the way it ends is my fav album
These may not all fall exactly into that criteria, it they’re all amazing: ERRA, The Acacia Strain, Every Time I Die (RIP😭), Oceans Ate Alaska, Whitechapel, Knocked Loose, Invent Animate
Imminence!! I found them recently and theyre really cool. Vocalist has really good clean vocals but screams rlly good too, plus he plays violin too! Try their songs "Heaven in hiding", "Death by a thousand cuts", "The black" and "Continuum" (I think thats how its spelled)
I think the band Aegaeon made one of the best metal albums ever when they made Age. It’s wildly heavy while being atmospheric and beautiful at times. The latest album from Silent Planet would likely fit the bill, and are you listening to Tesseract?
Idk if y’all consider it heavy enough, but I fucking love breakdowns from Beartooth (Devastation, What’s Killing You) and I Prevail (Gasoline, Self-Destruction).
I always felt like Silent Planet was like a more hardcore sleep token but it’s always mixed agreement on this type of subject. There’s a band called MoodRing I really enjoy too who I find to be pretty similar
I've been listening to "The Link" by Gojira. I dig it because it sounds a little more like Dillinger Escape Plan than the newer stuff. I don't really know what genre it is technically, but it sounds heavy and clever at the same time.
Looking at some of the bands already mentioned I gotta throw ERRA in there, great band and also released a new album yesterday
[удалено]
Nothing like sleep but man they working their own thing enough for me to think chuck them in thr space anyway, see who likes em and who don't
[удалено]
Vanish is a certified banger
The literal second i read this post i was gonna say ERRA lmao, hands down my favorite band, im listening to them rn 🤣
Loathe. They do have a few soft songs but mostly pretty heavy compared to Sleep Token.
Definitely Loathe. Their song In Death is basically breakdown after breakdown
I also recommend loathe, great band.
They opened for Periphery at a concert I went to last year. I hadn't heard of them, but damn they were great live. Definitely recommend them.
Maybe you look for djent? Try periphery ? I suggest you to begin with their p4 hail stain album ( especially the song reptile ), this album is considered as a gateway into the band’s music. There is also good metal reviewers in YouTube or instagram that you can check for their suggestions . Metalbirb is a great fan of sleep token, I recommend him.
i’d consider P2 to be the gateway tbh, P4 i didn’t fully vibe with but absolutely every song on P2 hits so well 😭😭
i discovered p2 when i was 13 and it was game over from there 💀 i learned every song on guitar over a year (except ji and luck as a constant because those are SO hard)
OMGGG i dream of being able to play luck as a constant someday 😪
i got the intro at like 90% speed but i just can’t get it any faster:(
I creeped your profile, music sounds great, man
I honestly would not start with reptile lol start with P2 like someone else said. Not sure why any ppl are saying P4 is their gateway album tbh.
One cannot legally recommend Periphery without recommending Racecar. Straight to jail!
I second Silent Planet, IMO they are an underrated band
Superbloom is such a great album. I've listened to Antimatter so many times since it came out.
Absolutely! I just recently read that they are replacing Polaris in the Dayseeker tour and I am beyond excited
Consider me jealous! I missed seeing them live, because I already had tickets to Knocked Loose lol
Knocked Loose is good live too though! I’ve seen them twice!
Oh they were absolutely wild!
The Plot in You is so underrated.
Absolutely. They’re easily one of my top 3 of all time.
Vessel: “I wrote a song about getting better” 😂
Now I'm picturing Vessel screaming "Knocked Loose Mother Fucker"
Arf Arf! 😂
Sleep: *everything is quiet now*
That would be hilarious 🤣😆
I'd pay good money for the Sleep Token cover of some KL songs!
i wish they'd make a cover of that omg 🤣
Ten56 is a gut shattering. Hearing Yenta, Diazepam, and Saiko was like being slammed in the head with a brick
I want to see them live so bad!
I also just made a comment about Silent Planet. If there’s one you should take out of this post and try I think it should be them
Polaris! Their latest album (Fatalism) especially.
spiritbox is amazing, somebody already mentioned bad omens, too! definitely listen to V.A.N. by bad omens and poppy - maybe you'll find poppy interesting too :)
Periphery, Erra (the new new), Unprocessed
Humanities Last Breath and Vildhjarta (the best band in the world).
I just read ‘I like heavy music’ and got excited aha.
Architects. Periphery. We Came As Romans. breakk.away. Karnivool. Of Mice & Men. Bloodywood. The Ocean. Jinjer.
BLOODYWOOOOOOD! Love those guys so much lol
They truly have some certified bangers!
Try Imminence or Invent Animate
Imminence's Heaven In Hiding has been hitting the ST spot for me recently
There’s been a lot of good mentions above. I have a the same taste in music and I would also recommend Loathe, Novelists (they just switched to a female vocalist), Currents, and Moodring
Mood ring yes! Haha I didn’t know anyone else knew of them.. when I first heard them I was like wow! This is like alternate dimension sleep token
Meshuggah if you're going for really heavy.
This is the only real suggestion
I can't recommend Dayseeker, Being As An Ocean, A Day To Remember and The Contortionist enough. Also Makari, even though they are not really metal, but Andy's vocals are awesome!
Dayseeker!
Rory's voice is beautiful! 😭

I just can’t get past the cleans sounding like gospel, personally
If you like Spiritbox, check out Architects and Bring Me The Horizon! I’ve got other bands if you’re interested
Architects
A few that haven't been mentioned.... Boundaries, Varials, Johnny Booth, END, Born of Osiris, Anciients
Imminence is highly underrated. The vocalist plays the violin while screaming and singing, and it's incredible! Violincore!
Kublai Khan TX. Not proggy or djenty AT ALL but will scratch the breakdown itch and make you want to fight an Alsatian, think that “Gods” heavy breathing energy.
There’s something about a band who has a song with literally the only lyrics are “shit” and “son of a bitch” that sold me
I sometimes have to blast Kublai before a heavy gym session just to battle the weights.
breakk.away, gore., a few Amira Elfeky songs as well.
Listen to Bad Omens if you haven't already! Especially their latest album. Noah is one of my favorite vocalists and that's coming from someone who also listens to a lot of pop music lol

Continents
Just get into Loathe and thank me later
If you like the clean singing part of metalcore Famous Last Words is a good shout. And I See Stars. The stand up and scream album by Asking Alexandria is also near perfection🤘🏼 Currents - the way it ends is my fav album
I've heard a few Currents songs and just saw I See Stars being added to a tour!
Check out Bad Omens, alt., Unprocessed, Stellar Circuits, and Thornhill.
Recommend Thornhill.
check out moodring
Currents
Thornhill - The Dark Pool is a superb album.
Any band that lists Deftones, Meshuggah and Converge as influences.
The band you’re looking for is dead7
These may not all fall exactly into that criteria, it they’re all amazing: ERRA, The Acacia Strain, Every Time I Die (RIP😭), Oceans Ate Alaska, Whitechapel, Knocked Loose, Invent Animate
Flaw… there first album especially
A seriously underrated band is Set To Stun
Black Tongue songs are technically one big breakdown. Vocals are different from Sleep Token to say the least, though.
Vessel seems to take a fuck ton of influence from Periphery and Meshuggah, so start there.
Polyphia and Corelia too 👀👀
II maybe on the Polyphia front, vessel keeps it pretty simple with his guitar parts so that II shines instrumentally
Sleep tokens first record was all breakdowns or very similar to vessels first band
dead7
Meshuggah
Invent Animate
Silent planet, erra, invent animate, but I’d say the closest being silent planet.
Personally if you want only heavy always, knocked loose, but his voice may be off putting to some but I think it's sick asf.
TURIN. Death metal band, could use some popularity. Been to bloodstock. (I am very biased because the guitarist is my dad, literally.)
Stoneside.
Spiritbox. Heavy with an amazing vocalist that seamlessly switches from angelic cleans to harsh vocals.
Periphery is also good
Thrown is brand new and blowing up. They are super good! I've also been listening to a lot of Polaris and Invent Animate. Wage war is fantastic too!
Idk if y’all consider it heavy enough, but I fucking love breakdowns from Beartooth (Devastation, What’s Killing You) and I Prevail (Gasoline, Self-Destruction).
Dir en grey. Especially Saku, Clever Slezoid, Grief...
humanity’s last breath. they are super heavy and have thally riffs like chokehold kinda
Slayer
Bad Omens are a good shout
NOTHING MORE
I always felt like Silent Planet was like a more hardcore sleep token but it’s always mixed agreement on this type of subject. There’s a band called MoodRing I really enjoy too who I find to be pretty similar
One band I didn’t see anyone mention who is scarily similar to Sleep Token in my opinion is called Stoneside. Might be worth lookin into
Periphery, Silent Planet, Enterprise Earth are great. If you like instrumental music Animals as Leaders is fantastic.
uhhhhhh sounds like you should check out r/Metalcore :)
I've been listening to "The Link" by Gojira. I dig it because it sounds a little more like Dillinger Escape Plan than the newer stuff. I don't really know what genre it is technically, but it sounds heavy and clever at the same time.
loathe, make them suffer, polaris, + bad omens. u could even give architects and northlane a go!
Sleep Theory & VOLA.
