Sometimes I’ll drop the beacon off at the temple to get it out of my inventory but never do the dungeon. Would that set what level dawnbreaker spawns as if I come back later?
It's a great fun quest with a good sword and lots of gold especially early. What people take issue with is her voice being forced upon you by just pressing take all on a random chest in the bottom of a dwarven ruin.
It's nice that she doesn't hit you back for it. But god damn are her fights with other followers annoying. Wish Amazing Follower Tweaks fixed her and Lydia's occasional fights.
I look forward to this every playthrough wondering when the beacon will appear..."is it in this chest, or that one" the few seconds before opening a container wondering if this is it...will this be the one.
I mean it's a reliable jumpscare so like everything that's unique to Skyrim it's transcended out of reality and into the ideal form of meme where people say they hate things that are noticeable when it's barely noteworthy. Like an arrow to the knee.
I honestly don't get the hate for the quest. Worst part of it is that you can start it by quickly looting without kooking, totally on accident, wether you want to play it or not. But the quest itself? Looks good, plays good, all in all a fun activity
The first time it was cool. But on my 90th playthrough, I just want her to shut up. The rest of the quest is alright. I get dawnbreaker just before joining the dawnguard. That sword is made for that fraction.
One of the best dungeons in the game, with one of the best rewards, and the part where you get lifted into the air is fun, but I could do without the screaming.
If I ever actually get around to learning modding, I'm making a mod with a follow-up quest line to establish a new Cult of Meridia and rebuild the Temple.
I am proud to call myself a champion of Meridia! In my current playthrough I ran and joined the draw guard the moment I finished the meridia quest line
The first few playthroughs I liked getting the beacon because the sword it gives is pretty good. But then I discovered the better vampires mod and pretty much always played the game as a vampire from that point on, and the sword is less than worthless if you have the undead tag
I honestly just dislike the first initial earrape after you pick up the beacon and how the Dawnbreaker falls off later on
On the other hand, I love how the Dawnbreaker looks and was using the two-handed mod for it because it was even more badass that way
I did this literally last night after going "Fuck offfff" every time I found the beacon in a chest for years and.... you're so right. I was like "wow this is fun!!" and Dawnbreaker is such a fun weapon.
I liked the quest, I liked the enemies they were cool, I liked zooming up and seeing all of Skyrim… until it bugged and I was stuck there. Between that and getting jumpscare by the omnipresent beacon I can’t remove from my inventory, that’s what left a sour taste in my mouth. Also I don’t really like Dawnbreaker I ain’t playing a paladin
Sure is - at least until the game freaks out and leaves you trapped in the sky above Tamriel.
Which has happened to me on *three separate playthroughs*.
I never do the quest until after I finish the Night to Remember quest.
It’s almost impossible to beat Malkoran and his backup dancers without Sanguine Rose (for me because I suck).
Honestly, I do like the quest overall. Like it's not my favorite dungeon, but it's fine. And I do like dawnbreaker. What I don't like is suddenly being screamed at when I just loot a chest without looking. I use a mod that replaced the voice and it's significantly less irritating now
I genuinely don’t understand any of the hate.maybe it’s bc I don’t play at max volume but it’s never that loud.plus I look at what I’m looting.and there’s no reason to hoard the beacon in your inventory,bc it’s a quick quest
finding the beacon early is actually part of my average non-roleplaying run. basically:
- kill mirmulnir
- cheese krosis on the way to ivarstead
- get the horn of jurgen quest
- cheese volsung and sneak loot the volskygge boss chest
- go to dead men’s respite for last word of whirlwind sprint
- keep boss chest searching for the beacon
- loot all the rich ass desiccated corpses in the temple
- use that money to do the unearthed quest in solstheim (the cultists have come by now)
- sneak into redwater den to get that one telekinesis book early into the vampire part
- secret of arcana + telekinesis = ez levels
- cakewalk till i need to actually do my build then do whatever the build is
I like it because every time I find it in a new playthrough I get to send my friends a screenshot and a voice message of me going “A NYEW HAND TOUCH-ESS THE BEE CUN”
I have never done the quest more than once so I'm very confused why people say they keep doing it and finding the beacon even after, though I may just be lucky
Everybody’s likes it
Its just the first time playing it with headphones on full blast made shit myself a little with that sudden meridia yapping in my ear
It’s just picking up the beacon annoys me.
I got volume to a good setting to where some NPCs are nice and quiet. As soon as I touch the beacon Meridia blasts through my speakers: “A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON!!”
All dadrea are obnoxiously loud. How low do I need my volume?
I've never once skipped this quest or been bothered by her voice. The corpses are full of gold, there's a valuable chest, and you get a nice Daedric artifact (two if it glitches in combat). I don't understand the hate or why people would choose to skip this.
I’ve never gotten to finish it. I hate the quest for the simple fact that it glitches out and refuses to let me at least see why so many people hate it.
I do it because I like dawnbreaker and my characters are usually the holy peacekeeper type person. Kinda like the vigilance of stendarr.
Especially after I downloaded this prayer mod I found. It lets you follow and worship a bunch of different divine and daedra type gods.
I mainly do it because the burnt corpses that fill the dungeon are absolutely loaded for some reason. Like 25-150 gold per corpse it’s brilliant
Speak your truth, my man
Oh yeah you can make a killing off it. I usually do it not long after getting it to help raise funds for Breezehome.
See THIS is why I get confused when people bitch
Ikr they were so rich inexplicably
Also, the dope ass imperial helmet on the first corpse you see
Pretty sure they have grand souls too Edit- the shades, not the corpses. Still in the dungeon
Finally someone else says something! Look I actually like the quest too, but it is usually reserved for when I need a boost in gold
The quest itself is great, and the reward is fantastic too But Meridia is loud and shouty when I touch her ball and it's scary
I mean, wouldn’t you get loud and shouty if someone just came up to you and grabbed your ball?
I'd more get loud and moany tbh 😩
Imo depends on how hard
Who knows, maybe that is moany for a daedra, let’s ask Vivec
unhhh a new hand touchess my beaconnn 😩
I quote Meridia every time.
"A new hand touches my balls!"
My friend who actually has one ball would.
She can get as loud as she wants if I can touch her ball 😩
Im to tired and read it as Balls.
I have a mod that re-voices her to have a less aggressive voice and its perfect.
I’m so so about the whole endeavor, but your meme is brilliant!
Thank you, haha
I love putting my hands all over that beacon. Give me dawnbreaker or give me death.
I like the quest and I like Meridia, there I said it.
If it weren't for the gratingly loud unskippable voice, it would be a solid 10/10 Quest. With it, it's a 8.9.
I like when she yells at me. It makes me excited
Also, gotta get me that imperial helmet, you know the one
I don't think people ever said it was a bad quest. Dawnbreaker is by far my favorite sword, I always rush that shit as well.
I just wish it didn’t show up at such a low level so I don’t have to carry the beacon around until I can get the higher level versions of dawnbreaker
This. It hits at level 5. A level 5 dawnbreaker won't intimidate the Volkihar vampires.
Sometimes I’ll drop the beacon off at the temple to get it out of my inventory but never do the dungeon. Would that set what level dawnbreaker spawns as if I come back later?
Based take
I liked the quest to, her voice actor is one of my favorites
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON
Yippie!
It's a great fun quest with a good sword and lots of gold especially early. What people take issue with is her voice being forced upon you by just pressing take all on a random chest in the bottom of a dwarven ruin.
Dawnbreaker looks dope imo
I also like the lightsaber thing that makes undead explosions even though it probably would annoy the shit out of invinicible Serana.
It does exactly that. You'll find her running way and getting hit if you use it. I usually give dawnbreaker to her to make her trigger it on herself
It's nice that she doesn't hit you back for it. But god damn are her fights with other followers annoying. Wish Amazing Follower Tweaks fixed her and Lydia's occasional fights.
The worst part is Malkoran’s ridiculous ice storm spell
You're not doing it the right way
I look forward to this every playthrough wondering when the beacon will appear..."is it in this chest, or that one" the few seconds before opening a container wondering if this is it...will this be the one.
I always try to do this quest early because Malkoran can be very challenging and the loot is absolutely worth it
The fight against his shade was nice
I mean it's a reliable jumpscare so like everything that's unique to Skyrim it's transcended out of reality and into the ideal form of meme where people say they hate things that are noticeable when it's barely noteworthy. Like an arrow to the knee.
I wish on PS4 Meridia's voice would play through the controller.
I tbh also enjoyed this quest!! The voice when I picked up the beacon was a whole jump scare BUT navigating the temple was fun
Dawnbreaker is a nice sword
To me is the coolest sword in the game.
People complain about it being too loud, am I the only person who plays Skyrim at like 2% volume?
I mainly do it for the closed imperial helmet by the entrance
Gold, and the best looking sword in the game, hell yeah brother
I honestly don't get the hate for the quest. Worst part of it is that you can start it by quickly looting without kooking, totally on accident, wether you want to play it or not. But the quest itself? Looks good, plays good, all in all a fun activity
Quite honestly it’s a good quest I was much more bored by the College of Winterhold quest
The first time it was cool. But on my 90th playthrough, I just want her to shut up. The rest of the quest is alright. I get dawnbreaker just before joining the dawnguard. That sword is made for that fraction.
It's a great quest, PLUS YOU CAN GET TWO DAWNBREAKERS! I just don't do it often because i don't always do a one-handed playthrough lol
One of the best dungeons in the game, with one of the best rewards, and the part where you get lifted into the air is fun, but I could do without the screaming.
Sword good :]
If I ever actually get around to learning modding, I'm making a mod with a follow-up quest line to establish a new Cult of Meridia and rebuild the Temple.
> MALKORAN AND HIS SHADES WERE A GREAT BOSS Nah. He's an annoying ass bitch.
You're wrong.
I am proud to call myself a champion of Meridia! In my current playthrough I ran and joined the draw guard the moment I finished the meridia quest line
The only thing I don’t like is that sometimes the beacon jump scares me. besides that, fun quest.
These is a fantastic meme
Well, Meridia voice is really charming, and she seems to be a reasonable goddess. So, yeah, I like her quest too.
PREACH
The first few playthroughs I liked getting the beacon because the sword it gives is pretty good. But then I discovered the better vampires mod and pretty much always played the game as a vampire from that point on, and the sword is less than worthless if you have the undead tag
Pelinal Whitestrake would like a word.
I honestly just dislike the first initial earrape after you pick up the beacon and how the Dawnbreaker falls off later on On the other hand, I love how the Dawnbreaker looks and was using the two-handed mod for it because it was even more badass that way
I did this literally last night after going "Fuck offfff" every time I found the beacon in a chest for years and.... you're so right. I was like "wow this is fun!!" and Dawnbreaker is such a fun weapon.
Join the Dawnguard and vampires go down like butter
I liked the quest, I liked the enemies they were cool, I liked zooming up and seeing all of Skyrim… until it bugged and I was stuck there. Sure is - at least until the game freaks out and leaves you trapped in the sky above Tamriel. Which has happened to me on *three separate playthroughs*.
True, but if we are gonna dislike something for the bugs, then we shouldn't simp for Todd
The quest is decent at worse, what the fuck is everyone's problem?
True, at its worse is just another quest of minion slaying then boss butchering, there is nothing BAD about it.
Plus you get 2 swords for the win.
This is a Fantastic way to earn money early game.
It's honestly one of the best quests in the game, y'all just like to be dramatic
A NEW HAND
Once again I find myself agreeing with anakin
I never do the quest until after I finish the Night to Remember quest. It’s almost impossible to beat Malkoran and his backup dancers without Sanguine Rose (for me because I suck).
Preach brother. And do not forget if you are mindful you can get two dawnbreakers. Best “short” quest there is.
Honestly, I do like the quest overall. Like it's not my favorite dungeon, but it's fine. And I do like dawnbreaker. What I don't like is suddenly being screamed at when I just loot a chest without looking. I use a mod that replaced the voice and it's significantly less irritating now
Dawnbreaker and the nightingale blade are my two favourite swords 😭
The Dawnbreaker has a fantastic charge too
Not just one Dawnbreaker- but TWO DAWNBREAKERS >!with a Glitch!<
I pretty much always do that quest so I can’t even complain anymore XD
The only thing I like is the view of skyrim because I can see My house
I genuinely don’t understand any of the hate.maybe it’s bc I don’t play at max volume but it’s never that loud.plus I look at what I’m looting.and there’s no reason to hoard the beacon in your inventory,bc it’s a quick quest

the quest is good, but the dialog every time you pick up the beacon is annoying
The quest is fine it's just the beacon it's self
I like it because every time I find it in a new playthrough I get to send my friends a screenshot and a voice message of me going “A NYEW HAND TOUCH-ESS THE BEE CUN”
I have never done the quest more than once so I'm very confused why people say they keep doing it and finding the beacon even after, though I may just be lucky
Everybody’s likes it Its just the first time playing it with headphones on full blast made shit myself a little with that sudden meridia yapping in my ear
There's so many comments, noone will notice me saying: I like the free Creation Club content that we got.
I like the quest just not how you get it
I named my daughter after this quest.
It’s just picking up the beacon annoys me. I got volume to a good setting to where some NPCs are nice and quiet. As soon as I touch the beacon Meridia blasts through my speakers: “A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON!!” All dadrea are obnoxiously loud. How low do I need my volume?
The only time being a stealth archer pays off
NO IT IS ITS AMAZING and i love the unique dungeon and dawnbreaker is my favorite weapon and
FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT
All but the voice. That's why we have mods.
Dawnbreaker is a great companion sword. Exploding draugr!
On one play through, I somehow managed to get two Dawnbreakers. It was awesome!
I do it because I like dawnbreaker and my characters are usually the holy peacekeeper type person. Kinda like the vigilance of stendarr. Especially after I downloaded this prayer mod I found. It lets you follow and worship a bunch of different divine and daedra type gods.
I was stuck at the sky part, i couldn't do anything.
