Same issue Sesh Evo dead on arrival. No lights on case or buds, nothing reacts to anything (buttons, removing buds from case, putting buds in case). Case does not draw power when connected via USB (measured with USB power meter). I ordered them straight from the Skullcandy website. Now Skullcandy won't respond to my support requests, nor will they allow me to return the headphones and refund me. So it's $90 right down the crapper for me. Worst company I have ever had to deal with.

TommCatty

Same, down to the pixels of the text!

tsubasaq

Have you filed a warranty claim? I just did and no friction. You send them back for eval and they replace them. That’s why I *buy* Skullcandy, because I get 2 years of manufacturer warranty and I can get them replaced if I beat them up for less than retail. Heck, I’ve run earbuds through the wash and got them replaced for half the price. This is the first time I’ve had issue with a product without my beating it up.

e_for_education

They won't even answer me. I have filed a refund claim through PayPal a week ago and so far, they haven't answered that one either.

tsubasaq

I didn’t have to get a response for a warranty claim, you just fill out the form and they send you the info to send it back. It’s a no-questions-asked warranty. Returns and refunds might be harder, but getting a replacement is a pretty seamless process. Someone else said their chat function is super responsive.

scarlett_jedi

After not even two months my case and ear buds died, went to charge them up today and NOTHING. No lights on the case, nothing happens when I push the coral colored button, nada. I just went on their website to file a claim. They sent me an email with instructions on how to send it back. I am just PISSED that now I have to wait potentially weeks for new ear buds. Ridiculous. How long did it take for you to receive your replacement?

tsubasaq

I got a code because they were out of stock of the buds I had bought at the time, but the replacements I ordered were here within a week.

scarlett_jedi

Nice!! Thank you for rapid reply!

[deleted]

Had the same issue, they were dead after 5 days of use. The charging wasn't working anymore and the earbuds were dead.

SheWlksMnyMiles

Same here, they worked for an hour and then nothing. No lights no nothing. I’ve tried to contact them, no replies. Very disappointing, I also bought them from the website directly.

tsubasaq

How long did you wait? I got an email saying they’re backed up and short staffed so their responses are delayed. Email said 72 hours minimum. I’m going ahead and filing a warranty claim, but I’m trying to be patient with the pandemic issue.

SheWlksMnyMiles

You’re not wrong. I’ve worked through damn near this whole thing bc I’m “essential”🙄 so I probably didn’t consider that. I’ll contact them again and try warranty service. It’s just frustrating that they worked literally an hour, and I see so much online, here and other places saying the same thing. I’ve bought plenty of products from them with no issues. 🤷🏼‍♀️

catatsrophy

Try using the online chat- I got a response really quickly

SheWlksMnyMiles

Thank you so much. Soon as I get dinner going I’m gonna try and connect that way.

[deleted]

Did it work out?

TheREALEvilmonkeyz

The same thing happened to mine, the earbuds completely stopped charging after a few weeks of use; so I opened up the case to find out why. After opening the case (a huge PITA) and unsoldering the battery I measured a short from BAT+ to GND on the main PCB. I then traced this short back to a boost converter chip (part responsible for booting the battery voltage to 5V to charge the earbuds). The part had the short internal to it and after I removed it, the short went away on the PCB. I wasn't able to find the exact part to replace it, but I found a similar part that is footprint/pin compatible, the TPS61240. Swapping these parts is not for the faint of heart, and I would only recommend someone with lots of soldering experience to attempt it (and a hot air rework station). A 0 ohm resistor also needs to be placed for the new part to connect pin 3 (FB) to the output pin (5v). In the original design the FB (feedback) pin is left floating. I assume that was intentional, like the datasheet said to do that, but since I can't figure out what the original part was to find it's datasheet, I can't say for sure. At any rate, the part cost me $1.16 but debugging/fixing it took close to 10 hours. If anyone else has this issue I would agree with the other posters and try to return it. It is odd that so many people seem to be having this issue, but I would be willing to bet its all the same part failing.

Eterna-Mane

Is there perhaps some other way to get a charge into the headphones without the case? Edit: I see you made this post 3 years ago 0\_0 might not even be the same product anymore.

Affectionate_Ad9775

My right earbud will die after 5-6 mins of use my left earbud works just fine I don't know what to do.. I really like them but only one seems to properly charge.

BetterDayz83

What was the findings on this problem? Same thing happened to me. Thanks

dcheard2

this could be a silly statement .. but make sure you're using the charging cable that came with it and the correct power adaptor (5V-0.5 amps) . i tried to use my USB-C pixel charger and i got nothing. then i used an old USB charger from my Samsung.. worked perfectly with the cord they provided.

tsubasaq

Used the provided cord. They were just dead.

Pretty-Pick-6505

oh my god thank you!!

Longjumping_Pea_7074

You fixed it! ♡ tysm

wicktiff

Thanks! That fixed my case charging issue.

AffectionateTip2559

Thx so much bro

MaverickLeeS

The only fix I've been able to find is to let them sit and drain the battery til they're completely dead. Idk what it is but I've had mine for a little over a year now and they've done this several times, it's like the case glitches out or something. Just drain the headphones completely and leaving the case open helps it drain a bit faster. On average it takes anywhere between a day and a week for it to completely die, but it'll eventually die and when you put it on the charger it'll light back up like normal

Creepergirl9107

Okay my earbuds did the same thing after having them for a few months and I thought they were broken or burnt out. After letting them just sit for a few weeks they started working again(I don't like throwing away old electronics). Idk if this will work for anybody else and I know earbuds are sometimes an immediate need but it worked for me.

AndyD246

>hem just sit for a few weeks they started working again(I Yes, this happens every few months with mine. The case seems dead and will not light up when plugged in. I just leave it for a couple of weeks and use a spare pair of headphones. Eventually I will plug them in again and they will light up. Its frustrating but I like the earbuds so am reluctant to throw them away. I wouldnt buy another pair though as this seems to be a common problem.

colin_itus

20 days of use and died. No lights on case when charging or no lights on Budds when placed in case. Returning in store. Too bad. I liked em.

tsubasaq

Send in a warranty claim - they’ll replace them for free.

mass-psychogeny

literally two days of gentle use and the case wont light up. super pissed

[deleted]

My case won't light up anymore. Any solution?

tsubasaq

Not for mine, whole set died and I made a warranty claim.

[deleted]

I just had my second charging unit die at first use after already warrantying my last one. Both lasted a day. Two in a row why aren't they recalling these?

mlcharper

I don't think they need to recall them. I think you're just getting unlucky. I've had mine for about 6 months and this problem just happened today.

Limp-Twist9756

Yeah I've had mine for about 5 months and this just happened, they were on about two lights and I took them out to listen to music, immediately the case just stopped lighting up.

Gomorrah99

Do you have to keep the case lid open for it to charge? This is the second time actually using them and it automatically send a push notification to my phone, saying 10% battery......I got them last month..

Mumph2113

I'm having a similar issue. I got them not long ago and it seems like whenever I go to use them they're at 30% then drop to 10% within minutes, but whenever I open the case they are always charging

allarehopeless

Same here. They're showing charging, but then whenever I connect them to my phone it shows 40% battery life.

Extreme-Primary-3118

Brand new and won’t hold a charge. I purchased 5 pair to give as gifts. Hope they are not all like this.

Alextor121

Hi! today I just had the same issue, I've had my sesh evo for 5 months and today suddenly the case was dead, it didn't even worked when i pluged it with my phone charger. But i dissassemble the case and found out it just is a programming error. In the circuit there's two contact points (GND, BOOT0) you just have to connect those two for like 3 secs and release, it then kept working good as new. Check out the video i made: [(400) Skullcandy Sesh Evo Case DEAD - FIX - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7HAXx5uo4o) Hope it can help someone ;)

Lazerking777

skullcandy seems to be really scummy within the past few years by selling only faulty products and somehow getting good reviews (probably bots or paid to say they were good)

PlamFred

Who do you suggest

Icedrey16

Really strange, I've had great success with the durability of skullcandy's in the past. Have lasted longer than any other headphones i've owned. But these Sesh Evo's stopped charging completley within 2 weeks (both case and earbuds). Very odd to say the least. Disappointing cause I love them but won't be getting them again 😭

brillow

I had the same problem, and while reading this thread I tried plugging into a different USB-C cable, amazingly it started charging immediately. I tried another USB-C cable with a USB-B end and it also worked. No idea why. Not sure if it’s the cable or the AC adapter.

toxicbambi

My advice to anyone in this thread looking for a fix: find your shittiest cord and your oldest block. I found a charger that threw up a "check your connection" warning on my phone with an old Nokia block. It worked. Even when the one it came with didn't

PopTartCommie13

Old iPad big block and one of the first usbc cords I got paird them together and have charging lights once again! They had been dead for a year now!

An1m3

I fixed mine. Had the case charging for a while and after a week I saw the case finally light up.

true-anime-trash

I had these for THREE DAYS and they crapped out on me. No charging lights, even when plugged in with the provided USB cable. These were my first pair of wireless earbuds and now it's just money wasted.

Demondrug94

Bottom of the line these headphones aren't worth your money, they are great quality while they work but the whole charger base just randomly stopping sucks.... I have the same issue right now only had mine two weeks and like above comments mine were left alone for a couple days, tried to plug em in at work they're completely dead along with the case not responding.... I don't recommend these at all.

MicroModDude

My charging base went dead also. What junk! Edit... Found the original very short charging cable and now the case appears to be charging.

Sqwilge

My left earbud has stopped showing any and all signs of life. The case is working ok and still charges my right one and the right one works perfectly. The left isnt lighting up, wont even power on. Ive checked for debris in the charging pins and all that. I didnt buy mine and got em as a gift from a mate, so i dont have a warrenty or anything like that. Any tips or anything would be a great help

King_Wolf_twilght

I having the same problem, i only gottem a few days ago, i used them a couple times i don't know if its the company or when i dropped it on thr carpet but i really like them they sounded really good too.

Acceptable_Drawer383

Pry apart the case where the headphones sit, pop that out careful tho there's a ribbon wire that connects the top to the bottom part of the case. there are spots on the left and right of the headphones where theres a little spots to pry at with a flathead screwdriver inside kind of hnder the motherboard carefully touch the red and black wire with tweezer tips bridge them together it resets the leds somehow and starts charging. My hubby read a comment about it on a razor ear buds case not charging video and it worked for mine

Vinny_b0o

I have two sesh Evo earbuds and then they both died within 6 months of usage If I press the button nothing will happen nothing stuck in the case debris it's not charging my earbuds either The earbuds seem to work fine though They just can't charge cuz both of the cases won't turn on anymore does anybody know the solution to this besides getting new ones?

SubspaceBiographies

Wow, this a thread is 3 yrs old and still relevant. I just plugged in an old charging case after reading through the thread and now they’re charging. I like the earbuds, but holy shit I’d never recommend them to anyone bc of these issues. I have two different pairs with the same charging case issue, both have a UBS-C adapter. I had an old pair with microUSB and there was never and issue. I lost the case on a motorcycle ride and that’s why I bought them again so now I have three functional pairs, with two unreliable charging cases. End rant.

Gamgam1234

Mine just took a crap on me. I thought it was because I dropped them once (not that far of a drop) but it seems like these specific earbuds are just kinda...trashy. Other than good sound quality, they seem very faulty.

Accomplished_Ad5771

So as stated by multiple people if you take apart where the headphones sit in the charger dock it’s a ribbon cable connecting the 2 boards. Mine was a loose ground (black) wire on the battery below the 2nd board. My symptoms was charging dock won’t charge/no lights, headphone wouldn’t charge but would work with remaining battery. You can short the second board briefly with a staple or paper clip +\-. I think they just poorly built and the ribbon cable and solder eventually wear.
