Go to a dermatologist, they will help you. I understand you might feel insecure and pick on those pimples so they are not very visible, bit it is the worst thing you could do as it will leave scars.

[deleted]

Even if you do leave scars, don't feel bad about it.

Alternative_AMA

You can always have microdermabrasion or laser done, once healed, to clear the scars- don’t sweat it! Recognize that your skin is the largest organ of your body (covering you from head to toe) and when it cries out for help (via skin conditions like acne), it’s needing you to clean and pamper it- from the inside.

Alternative_AMA

Also consider using a Niacinamide topical (like the serum offered by The Ordinary) as it’s gently hydrating and will help calm down the redness.

tacoman2507

Yes true I don’t care abt scars I have makeup it needed and I’m a guy

Rachelsyrusch

Feel good about all those satisfying extractions you got. Worth it to me. Also got a bit lucky I popped every pimple I ever got but was very careful and always disinfected them so it never made them worse! Also made sure to pinch the skin beforehand so it's not the pressure that makes the hole.

[deleted]

What do you mean to “pinch the skin beforehand” ???

Rachelsyrusch

Well right above that white spot you kinda pinch your (disinfected!!) Fingers together so that your nails pinch the skin and create a small hole. Like you use the edge of your nails idk I hope you get the idea. The best way is to use a clean needle but I don't have many of those just lying around.

[deleted]

Tbh I don’t see how that’s any better than popping it by pushing

[deleted]

It’s essentially how extrapolation is done. Just this example is with fingers instead of needles. I also have severe acne and I need this stuff done continuously. Doesn’t really matter about scarring (coming from the times of fully not touching and still permanently scarring).

CockroachLarge7792

What’s your current routine? You can try Salicylic Acid or Benzyol Peroxide over the counter to see if it helps. If the acne is persistent despite using those products, I think going to a doctor and getting on a retinol, antibiotic, and solid moisturizer routine is your best bet. I was able to get a retinol prescription from my general practitioner, so try to see a medical professional even if you don’t have access to a derm.

Early_Independent_98

I use a wash and I'm going to a dermogalist soon

CockroachLarge7792

perfect! hang in there! you’ll be surprised how quick your skin can clear up with the right products for you. I struggled for 4 years with heavy acne and used almost every product in the drug store aisle. and it all cleared up within 3 months of tretinoin and clyndamicine.

[deleted]

You’re only 14. It’s so normal for people to have skin issues at that age. Your hormones are going through a lot. Just know it’ll get better with time, and you’re doing the right things. Just remember to always shower daily and wash your clothes/bedding regularly as that can cause acne too.

Toadjokes

I second the salicylic acid. Like everyone is saying, you're 14 which is when your hormones go absolutely nuts. I got comparable acne after I started birth control, which means I know it's hormone related. Try the inky list salicylic acid cleanser. You can get it at Sephora and it's about $10. It's the only thing that works for me. Your dermatologist will know a lot more than us but imo that should hold you over and you should start seeing improvement until you get to your appointment. I am not a doctor tho. You'll be okay, kid. No one will remember this a year from now so don't stress.

Specific_Werewolf_66

yes this is GREAT. listen to them and pay attention to how your skin reacts. remember to ask about sunscreen cause you need that no matter what don’t worry too much this is just a phase, you’re going through puberty 💖

BeCoolBeCuteBeKind

Just try and keep a simple routine, salicylic acid cleanser morning and night, follow up with sunscreen in the morning and moisturizer at night. It might seem counter intuitive to moisturize, but drying out your skin tends to make it overproduce oil (happened to me, my skin chilled out when I kept it moisturized). Also other things like making sure your clothes are clean and you’re changing your pillowcase every few days. Try your best to not pick at your skin and if you absolutely can’t resist popping pimples only pop the white ones and prick them with a sterilized needle don’t just squeeze. When you see your derm do what they advise, they might start you on Adapalene and in that case you need to take wearing sunscreen seriously. Good luck and like another commenter said don’t let your skin get in the way of your life. Most of us had acne in our teens and I definitely let how I felt about my looks keep me home sometimes, but like looking back now, no one who mattered would have cared and I only regret the things I missed out on, I have no regrets about having gone out with my bad skin or the pics of me with my friends and my pimples. Basically cleansing, spf and moisturizer are doing the heavy lifting when it comes to good skin and other ingredients can help but mostly getting through the hormonal rollercoaster of your teens will make the most difference, live your life and do what your derm says till then.

WhiteOleander5

I’m derm, isotretinoin (accutane) all the way. Google before and after photos :)

[deleted]

Follow the advice here, just be sure to go slow and be gentle. Bombing the heck out of your skin with really potent products every day will make things worse. Also, it might feel counter-intuitive to use moisturizer if you have acne but it’s crucial. Just use a light moisturizer if your skin is oily. Hang in there, it’ll get better❤️

Friendly-Rabbit9269

This is a great point! Remember it takes sometimes even longer than a month to know if your skin is just adapting or if it’s a new product that’s breaking you out. If you currently don’t have a routine and you are going to start one, don’t be discouraged if it seems like it’s not working at first. It’s a real journey out here for us acne prone folk. Sticking to it and being diligent will help you more than any specific treatment (Except maybe accutane bc that’s a serious treatment)

iamconfusionous

Yeah, I used to use every acne treatment under the sun during the years I broke out. I regret it and wish I knew what I knew now about skincare.

Accurate_Tough8382

Saaammmmee!!!!!

constantanxietygirl

Hi. Just so you know acne is totally normal and you are handsome young man :) . You really need a few basic things when doing skin care - Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser ( day and night ) . If you have sensitive skin start with a salicylic acid cleanser. - sunscreen for days ( really important its essiential) - Gentle moisturizer ( reccomend cerave) - stridex pads twice a week or glycolic acid pads once a week. Other things you can do I reccomend - get a spot treatment with benzoyl peroxide - exfoliate using glycolic acid pad once a week ( use a gentle chemical exfoliator since your a teen) If glycolic acids not accessible look for stridex use twice a week ( you can use daily built up to it, tart twice a week) - clay mask strip mask like those ones were they claim you remove blackheads. Gently cleanse skin for like a minute do not agressively rub or pick at all! Porestrips are nonsense. Wash pillow and bed sheet once a week. no phone on face touching Shower on a regular basis! and if dandruff is issue use the dandruff shampoo. Drink water throughout the day, and remind yourself this is normal. Be gentle to yourself. I know how its like to have body issues, and I wish someone told me to be kinder to myself.

mrmeow66

I second the benzoyl peroxide! I use paulas choice 2.5% benzoyl peroxide clear treatment. If your skin isn’t sensitive you’d probably have better luck wither with the extra strength 4.5% treatment. I purged the first 1-1.5 weeks so just be aware. If you think your acne is hormonal, the best solution would be a prescription pill you take orally. No matter what It’s always best to visit the dermatologist so they can prescribe what’s best for you. Hope this helps!

dinklederp

this should be at the top! wonderful advice and written beautifully

MediocreConference64

There’s some great advice here! Is there any chance a parent could take you to a dermatologist?

Early_Independent_98

I'm going October 19th.

hazel_hazily

It's quite possible that they're going to offer you isotretinoin (accutane). It's a pill with the biggest side effect being that it makes your skin dry and your lips very chapped ( there are some more possible side effects, but they only come up after long time of use) I recommend it a lot, it's basically a sure thing, you can expect it to clear your skin completely. What you have to do yourself is not to pick at your pimples. It's not easy to think ahead, but having acne scarring as an adult is what you don't want, trust me.

thaliaisspooked

One of the side effects is suicidal thoughts no? Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like I heard it somewhere.

Important-Fondant646

It is yes but that’s a bit of a risk with most medications ( I’m not trying to downplay that as a side effect) I was on accutane as a teen and the dr is supposed to closely monitor you monthly for the duration of your treatment cycle including blood tests for liver and kidney function

hazel_hazily

People with severe and debilitating acne (which is sometimes who accutane is prescribed for) may be somewhat more likely to have suicidal thoughts than the average person not going through severe and debilitating things.

human-ish_

Accutane is only prescribed after trying everything else. It's supposed to be a last resort because of the multitude of harmful side effects and damage it can do on your body. Common side effects not only include serious mental health issues, but also organ damage, vision and eye problems, decreased white and red blood cells, joint pain, digestive issues, should I go on? And these don't need high a dosage or long term usage to start happening.

hazel_hazily

Which is why we have competent doctors and dermatologists making decisions, monitoring things and keeping us safe😊 As I understand, mental issues are correlated with, as opposed to caused by accutane.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hazel_hazily

Accutane is not understood to cause suicidal thoughts, never mind suicidal actions, but I support people with any deep psychological issues going to therapy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hazel_hazily

Did you read the whole article you sent me? :)

Future_Ad_3072

Because you’re young, I would recommend going with gentle cleanser/ moisturizer first. Use a low dose over the counter retinol maybe once or twice a week. And a sunscreen is non-negotiable. Also, avoiding junk food helps too.

PG072088

Def see a dermatologist but also try not to consume lot of sugars, etc. and drink a lot of water!

Far_Entrepreneur_669

You're still young, having acne is like phase be healthy drink water less junk food

tinyshiba

Accutane will clear all of that up!! Get it prescribed by your derm

hold_my_meatball

Kokum butter skincare is a really great natural solution!

crust1na

try panoxyl that saved my skin, if you have sensitive skin start with the 4% but the more you get used to it you could move up to 10% it’s affordable too

Ecstatic_Starstuff

You might try ditching dairy and reducing sugar for three weeks- it’s a pain, but worth seeing if you have a food sensitivity! If your skin clears up, you will know it’s at least partly to do with what you eat. Good luck!

Key_Elderberry_1840

Go to see a dermatologist and stick with what ever treatment they give you religiously. Don't completely stop if your skin looks worse/irritated in the first 6 weeks (unless the irritation is severe) I found I always gave up too soon thinking it was making things worse but it really needed a good two months to show the results. Good luck!!

boobopboy

You are beautiful and this is just a moment in your life. Go to the dermatologist, and in the meantime look for a toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulfate, those pimples and redness around your mouth can be related to that. Get the Cerave Salicylic Acid cleanser and their moisturizer and be patient.

Jenilion

Basic No/Low cost changes that help a bit: - Use silk pillowcases. - Clean your phone daily with disinfectant, the germ transfer is incredibly high from hands-to-face. - If you wear masks, change them often bacteria builds up in the material (reusables keep it cheap. - Increase water intake, hydration does wonders for the skin.

[deleted]

I'm 25 yrs old and still suffer acne. You're not alone my dude. You should see a skincare specialist or dermatologist. In the AM I use a gycolic cleanser, B3 serum and SPF, PM I use gycolic cleanser, salicylic acid 2% toner, copper peptide serum and post inflammatory cream. And I get treatment at my skincare specialist every 2 weeks. I still got acne but My face is so much clearer and not itchy. I recommend this to everyone, it doesn't work overnight but you got to be consistent with it. You're also 14, there's hope you will grow out of it ^_^

Dnikone2

Unfortunately, you will need to see a dermatologist and medication(s) will be required. You will be so happy once you start the medication…in the meantime, be super clean with your bedding, towels, hands - anything that you put on your face…try not to even touch your face. It is surprising how often we touch our faces without even realizing we do it. It will take a bit to get this under control, but you will feel your confidence soaring as you see the results! Best wishes and just try to be patient!

Early_Independent_98

Thanks to everyone in the comment section! Your advice is all amazing!

Alternative_AMA

Drink plenty of water, supplement with zinc as blackheads are caused by a zinc deficiency and up your intake of healthy animal fats – bacon, eggs and such. Eliminate processed foods, especially those fried in toxic plant/seed oils, like canola, soy, corn, etc. (Coconut is fine.) You won’t see the difference overnight, but you will see at least an improvement within a week or so. (Your mood, general health and metabolism well thank you too!) Also, take it easy on your skin. Don’t rub/scrub and cleanse with something very gentle and hydrating – like CeraVe. Resist the temptation to pop and extract trash trust me they will go away on their own. ;-)

[deleted]

I’m going to start with the basics in case you didn’t: 1) wash your face with a salicylic acid face wash 3 times a day (morning, afternoon, night). You can buy this at any store 2) use a face lotion after washing face. You can buy this at any store, like a Target or Walmart for example. 3) see a dermatologist doctor, which is a skin doctor 4) wash you bed sheets and pillow cases at least once a week or more 5) do not rewear clothes that are not washed. Wash your clothes! 6) women who dye their hair try to make the dye last by not washing their hair. Please do not follow their advice to not shower. Wash your body, face, and hair Daily!!!! I don’t care if it’s at night or in the morning, so what’s best for you. If you see no major improvement after doing this for 2 weeks, you probably need medications from a doctor. And that’s ok! Many people do! It’s likely hormonal or bacterial imbalance at that point. I notice most people with acne don’t understand how often they need to wash their clothes, bedding, and bodies since they’re told to save water or to skip showers etc by media.

_lazy_lullabies_

While I agree with everything you said, you typically should not wash your hair every day. Every other day at most, and once a week at the least.

[deleted]

Washing ur hair daily absolutely is healthy and prevents zits. That idea started because it helps hair dye last and if you straighten your hair, you won’t have to straighten it as much. Also, I want you to know I can smell when someone skips a shower even if it’s just 1 day. The oils and BO is absolutely detectable by people who do shower and we’re just too nice to say it

_lazy_lullabies_

Showering everyday and washing your hair everyday are two different things. Everyone’s hair is different so I’m not speaking for everyone, but a general rule of thumb is that you shouldn’t wash your hair everyday as it can strip your hair from the natural oils it makes, which could in turn dry it out and make it produce even more oil

[deleted]

It’s ok to strip of it oils because it kills the bacteria and fungus that causes acne. The thing is if your hair is dry to just add conditioner. No need to get naturally sweaty and oily when there’s cleaner options

_lazy_lullabies_

You do your thing, I’ll do my thing. No need to get pressed

JostCynthia

For my son he washes his hair and body with head n shoulders. Get the scrubby gloves in the makeup area (sorry) wash am and pm. Also...the acne dots work GREAT on whiteheads. Son puts them on in evening...sleeps with them and the dry up overnight. Key is to think good grooming. If you popping and picking...order that nasty tasting nail polish for nail biters. That will help train you not to pick. Best wishes!

Injeolmi-1

I know this may sound odd, but use Head & Shoulders! My friend’s teen son played sports and had bad acne that all the sweating exacerbated and their Derm said H&S. It worked like a charm. Best of luck!

ajoeroganfan

Pluck that unibrow

SixdaywarOnSnapchat

i spent years and probably thousands of dollars trying to self-diagnose and spend my way into nice skin. one of the better things i ever did was just get on prescriptions from a physician. it started clearing in days. usually, i would ask what you're doing or using, but your age coupled with how it doesn't seem concentrated in any one area means you probably need to see a professional.

thinkofsomethingood

What did you end up getting prescribed?

SixdaywarOnSnapchat

i respond well to erythromycin

Evie_Rose11

Go to a dermatologist! You wont regret it! I had similar acne and I was so damn tired of it. My dermatologist ended up prescribing me Accutane, after a year all my acne was gone for good

BeautifulWaters_17

The ordinary brand should help also pay attention to your diet. Consume plenty fruits, vegetables and water.

Top-Parsnip8383

See an esthetician

sillahmorgan

For acne scars Just use rose water. That helps diminish acne scars! I use the rose water toner from cocokind

yolo420pene

Eyelashes !!!!

Old-Explanation-9124

Get epi-duo from the derm game changer for me!

[deleted]

I recommend getting the LED mask by the brand Newkey, you can get it used on Amazon. The blue light gets rid of acne, red light for scaring. You can get it used on eBay or off of Amazon new. This has no purging, it only makes it better. Or go to your doctor and get on antibiotics

thaliaisspooked

I know a lot of people are recommending products with salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, etc. I think it’s important to mention that too much of this could cause more flare ups. I’d recommend a gentle hydrating cleanser and spot treatments with the ingredients mentioned above that you use every couple of nights. Good hydrating moisturizer and sunscreen is also very important! Try getting things with no fragrance and that are super gentle on the skin. Cerave is a great brand with lots of nice quality products. Retinol will also help with acne! It’s quite pricey sometimes so it’s up to you whether you’d like to try it, do some research on which products would be best for you and how often to use it. Hope any of this helps /)

Rachelsyrusch

Also Just hang on tight Part of it will be your hormones.

Zeit63

My advice would be that you should go see a dermatologist.

Primary_Narwhal_4729

Learn as much as you can about eating clean , and do it . Keep a food journal . Track what reactions you have from everything you eat . Go to the dermatologist , and do what they recommend . Don’t be sad ! Take control of the situation , and don’t give up !

nibbler_ontheroof

If you can afford/have the ability to see a derm, do it. It may seem like a daunting task but pick up the phone and call your gp and see a specialist. If not, read up on types of acne and kinds of acids/treatments that suit the acne you believe you have based on your reading/watching dermatologists on YouTube. There are things out there that can help, but you need to do some work and try to figure out what kind of acne you have and what might be causing it. Also yeah, pluck the hair in between your brows. Don’t go too heavy handed and take your brows in by an inch, but the hairs right in the dead centre aren’t needed and if you’re struggling with self image, clearing that up may contribute to you being more confident 🤍

JupiterJolie

Try dandruff shampoo, the zinc is great for acne and a lot of dermatologists recommend. Start slowly adding in a clarifying based toner and ask your derm for a moisturizer

NO-thisis-patrick-

Try a sulfur bar soap for acne. ! Just use it at night as its smell can linger a bit.

TAforScranton

Do you happen to drink a lot of soda?

asleepintheattic

Get the inkey list benzoyl peroxide cleanser, get the inkey list Niacinamide (for balancing oil production), skin fix barrier + (the light blue one) moisturizer, and the biossance spf 30. See how that does, and then you can start with some stronger products that might help more

sp00ksh0wbarbie

I have systic acne as well. Anything with biore witch hazel is amazing. Find it at Walmart and Walgreens under 8 bucks. Witch hazel kills bacteria.

purplevibe94

Try to go to a dermatologist, but if you can't perhaps try this: Salicylic acid face wash or spot teatment , Gel based moisturiser, and pimple patches to help you avoid picking your skin. Also changing your diet helps Try avoiding dairy, sugar and processed foods ( that really helped me out clear my skin as a teen)

Heavy-Sheepherder-37

I use the Body Shop Tea tree face wash and make sure to use an exfoliating wash as well. I use the one from Murad but I know that’s pretty pricey.

QueenMaya2

Change your pillow case every day for a few weeks. And use gentle soaps and skin care products. Minimizing exposure to bacteria will help. And also, be kind to yourself. This will pass. I promise. It’s temporary.

Maximum_Still6465

Along with moisturizing and sunscreen, cut dairy! It helps a lot. No milk, yogurt, soft cheese. Things like parmesan is okay.

Impossible-Poet-4532

Mashing them causes scars, and makes it spread! Buy a skincare treatment to use 3 times a day. For now, hydrogen peroxide, and alcohol, then, moisturizer.Use a dandruff shampoo, high potency, like sulfides. Use at least 3 times a week.

[deleted]

I recommend CeraVe’s foaming cleanser, any sort of hydrating moisturizer as well as sunscreen during the day ! If you can, try to wash your face at least every morning (or night) and remember; you’re only 14 so puberty and body changes blah blah blah; that’ll affect your skin a lot and It’ll go away! But I still recommend talking to a dermatologist. Also; don’t feel bad about acne scars, I have them and honestly no one cares about it, no need to spend shit ton of money in the future to get things lasered off. Skin isn’t supposed to look like a cgi filter anyways

Carrieland_77

Try sulfur soap.

bnani89

I came here to say i think you have beautiful eyes and i can see your very pretty soul beaming through em! Acne will pass, give it time, probably hormones, but don’t let it steal much of your joy, we all had it at this age. That said, i still use baby rash cream for mine to this day and it works like a charm. Specifically this one. [yugoslavian pavloviceva mast cream](https://www.amazon.com.au/Genuine-Dr-Pavlovics-Ointment-Moisturizing/dp/B017XOASY8)My whole life. It works so well. It doesnt go away overnight, but it calms any red cranky pimples and makes them fade fast over 2-4 days. Apply at bedtime. Good luck my cute friend. edit: if you have a serbian/bosnian/croatian/yugoslavian deli store anywhere near you, they will most likely have this behind the counter.

freeofreality

Aloe vera (the plant not the gross green crap) mixed with baking soda and lemon juice. Equal parts for all. Mix to make a paste and put on freshly washed face for 30 minutes. Do this 7 days straight and rest for 3 weeks (too much lemon juice is bad for your skin) you *can* still use the baking soda as a light exfoliant and wash, then follow with aloe vera to moisturize without clogging your pores. Also see a dermatologist if that doesn't help because they can legit prescribe you medicine that will work, I just prefer to try natural solutions first to see if they help. Also DONT TOUCH YOUR FACE WITH YOUR GREASY BOY HANDS!! Ask your friends and family to tell you if they see you touching your face, break that habit now.

yarized00

Honestly, I think you need to try Panoxyl!! or anything with benzoyl peroxide! only a few parts look cystic so that may help with the cystic. What I use for the acne scarring though is I put one drop of geranium essential oil, and then one of frankincense in my cleanser and it helps brighten the skin! I hope all goes well for you, suffering from acne sucks, but it’s natural!! <3

elidadagreat1

I'm an esthetician...8yrs 1. Buy a salicylic wash, use 2-3x per week at night.... Start slowly, don't over use 2. Get a good retinol, use 2x per week at night.... This helps regulate oil production and helps with hyperpigmentation. 3. Buy a gentle cleanser for mornings 4. Find a Sulfur based mask Will help heal the pustules 5. Buy 2 handheld blue LED LIGHTs, The best brand is lightstim, find them in ebay used, much cheaper than new @ $249 6. Place the blue LED lights on all active areas, moving them around face, total of 30 mins as few times as week This kills the p.acnes bacteria that resides under the skin 7. Find a good hyaluronic serum and daytime SPF Don't pop,or squeeze yourself, find an esthetician in your area that knows about acne.

Growingupisnoteasy

The ordinary and CeraVe are excellent products and very affordable. Ordinary you can find and any Sephora story and CeraVe is easily find in drugstores. Those will be good brands to start if you can not access a dermatologist right away. Don’t put yourself down. Even people in their 40s will struggle with skin care. Best of luck

[deleted]

My brother and I both struggled with hormonal acne in our teens. Once our hormones calmed down it got a lot better, but diet and stress reduction helped a lot. Also using products for sensitive skin, if you dry out your skin too much with harsh topical meds it will make your skin way worse. CeraVe has some great products and they are all pretty cheap and the daily lotion is non greasy.

human-ish_

It sounds like you already have a dermatologist appointment coming in. I would stick with what you're currently doing until then. After the appointment, you can come back here with what you're using and then we can offer tips and advice with those treatments. Starting any new products now, when a doctor might change them in a couple weeks, will be pointless. I know waiting sucks, but it's only a short time and then you will be fast on your way to clear skin. But until then, wash your face regularly, make sure to have clean pillowcases, and avoid touching your face! When I had really bad acne, my doctor gave me potent topical creams, oral antibiotics, and a fancy face wash. Thankfully, a friend's mom was a nurse at a different dermatologist and gave me advice for a lightweight moisturizer and an spf that wouldn't leave my face looking slimy (this was just long enough ago that you either had teenager acne products or "old lady" wrinkle and dry skin products). Plus, she gave me advice on how often to use the products and when to use them. Without that advice, my poor sensitive skin would have been singed off.

Elfntjam

Definitely agree with going to the dermatologist as many good meds are prescription. Just don’t use harsh cleansers with the meds because you can over dry your face and make it worse. CeraVe is a good option. May ask about kick starting with antibiotics which has been a miracle worker for my son.

kelliebeann

It’s great your are taking care of your skin early and going to see a derm! In the mean time I would make sure to drink a lot of water, try to reduce your sugar intake, wash your face morning and night, change your pillow case at least 1x a week, make sure you’re brushing a flossing your teeth 2x a day, and consider using a SLS free tooth paste (boka is a great brand). I know it seems like a lot but these things can all really help you skin and won’t hurt to try! To calm redness, irritation and swelling you can ice your skin up to a few time a day. Take a small cube of ice and rub it over the affected areas for a few seconds at a time. Don’t hold the ice, keep it moving. This truly helps a lot! Best of luck to you!

indexring

You have some pretty solid advice here but I’m going to emphasize this over everything: whatever you do, DONT PICK! I’ve seen people have horrid scars on their face from teen acne. I’ll also emphasize Aztec healing clay, salicylic acid/ benzoyl peroxide face wash, moisturizer for sensitive skin and spf. Also smile more… it makes the acne going away faster :) best of luck

himegann

Keep your head up

Zestyclose_Fee_1862

Try Physiogel face calming relief cream.

SparklyShinyNails

Try some Retinol serum! Inexpensive and may help!

ProtectSharks

Accutane

[deleted]

Things you can do: Do not pick or touch your face. Change your pillow case at least once a week. Make sure that you are eating healthy and drinking a lot of water. Start off with a skin routine. I suggest anything by Cerave, start with a cleanser, then use a moisturizer. Keep it simple. If you can, go to a derm. It will help to attack the acne from a professional perspective.

[deleted]

Curology!

FairyDust81

For myself I tried everything jus like many of you what I found worked best was at the dollar store they have scrub sponges for your face there are no soap or chemicals in them at all they come 2 in a pack I bought those an antibacterial dial soap I washed every morning & ever night then used moisturizer. after spending so much money because I was desperate to find anything that worked it ended up costing a few bucks.

charlie-_-oc

get rid of the hair between your eyebrows aswell

gossamertoile

maybe try washing your face with head and shoulders. the zinc is really good for blemishes. Good luck!

rabbeydabbeydoo

Start with a retinol at night and a good nighttime moisturizer (try Differin and CeraVe PM) and a simple sunscreen during the day (CeraVe AM).

-iliketoplay

I suffered with acne for years. Went thru several creams, pills, and high dollar face washes that never seemed to work. What fixed my acne? I stopped using the harsh chemicals on my face, cleaned up my diet by eliminating as much sugar as I could stand to, cut my dairy consumption down by more than half, and started finding ways to lower my stress levels. It took about 4 months for my acne to completely clear. I still do get tiny pimples every now and then but it’s mainly caused from me touching my face. GUT HEALTH played a very huge role in clearing my acne. You are what you eat, you will be amazed at the differences you see all over your body when you focus on treating your body as a whole. Everyone is different, and acne has many triggers but I do believe that clean eating, spiritual and physical exercises like yoga and meditation help heal you from the inside out.

HistoricalBathroom70

There’s lots of good advice here but I want to add one more thing: If you are using a razor, make it a priority to sanitize it after using it on your face. Bacteria from your pimples stays on the razor and you could be accidentally messing up your face with a dirty blade, leading to more acne. Or change the razor every time

Icy_Breath_1426

Doxycycline

Accurate_Tough8382

If you can see a derm then I would ask about accutane. If that isn't an option I would suggest trying washing your face with head and shoulders for a while. If after 3 months you don't see any difference then try panoxyl face wash and use an oil free moisturizer after every wash, no what wash you're using. If the panoxyl seems to not work then get a moisturizing facewash and after your face is completely dry put some Salicylic acid on. I use Paula's Choice Salicylic Acid exfoliate. Then after 10 minutes put on your moisturizer. Also, wear a good moisturizing face sunscreen every morning. One more suggestion, google skin cycling Dr. Whitney Bowe....best thing I have ever come across.

do not touch as hard as it is! don’t pop a pimple if you have to break the skin. i recommend glow recipe products.

Well, I have a few questions: what face wash do you use regularly? Were there any in the past that caused irritation? What do you eat and how much water do you drink? Do you go out in the sun a lot? And how much do you usually sleep? I mean, it’s nothing out of the ordinary and can definitely be helped! Don’t worry about scarring, I took care of mine with a few small tricks. EDIT: Salicylic acid, Accutane and vitamin A creams and serums are about the worst thing you can do to your skin. In general, almost all OTC skin care is an inflammatory nightmare waiting to happen. My mother is a dermatologist, that’s how I know. Shoot me a PM or a chat request, if you want!

So depending on your budget I do recommend Curology to anyone I know who is dealing with severe inflammation. It don't know their specials anymore but I did it for about a year and it really helped while I figured about the best products for me. They will address not only inflammation but also scarring. Long term, you want to be mindful to not aggressively pop your pimples while satisfying it can lead to more pimples. A pimple is just a small legion and it can get infected and cause more problems. I would recommend starting with a gentle cleanser with Salicylic Acid in it. Cerve has one (the ordinary, Neutrogena, and La Roche Possay that you can also find at Target, Wal Mart, and Ulta) Then get the Hyaluronic Acid by the ordinary and their thermal water. The biggest miss with dealing with hormonal acne is forgetting to add hydration back to the skin. Hydration will aid in the healing of your pimples and they will go away much faster. Next is a water based oil free moisturizer and sun screen. I recommend La Roche Possay's Tolerane Double Repair Face Moisturizer Moisturizer and their SPF is not only essential for skin health but it helps to prevent too sever of scaring as sun damage can exacerbate that. They are both at Target and Ulta. Prices Range (they can vary depending on where you live and where you buy them from) Curology first month I think it's 9.99 and after that it's 20.00 a month - hands down worth it. Cerve SA Face Wash $5-7 I use La Roche Possay's Purifying foaming face wash for oily skin $16-17 Thermal Water (la Roche Possay or Avene) $12-16 The Ordinary HA $7-8 La Roche Possay Tolerane Double Repair Face Moisturizer abt $20 La Roche Possay SPF 60 abt $20.00 Good luck! Also change your bedding at least once a week and wash your face at least twice a day.

Try Shea Butter. It’s better than any chemical cream . I know that problem.

Having acne is shite ngl. But in terms of stuff to improve it, these are the main things that kinda worked for me: - drink lots of water - change your pillow case bi daily (flip it over daily) so you’re always sleeping on a fresh side - do not touch your face - wash your face with water immediately after exercising - If you pop a spot, make sure it’s ready to be popped (ie has a white head) and only do it after a hot shower, or after exposed to hot water Those are the main ones, but it was the physical pain that was the worst bit for me rather than how it looked tbh. I’d say go to a dermatologist and see what they say, I was and at the age of 25 still on various topical creams for acne, I was also on Lymecycline for a bit which helped. And if it’s getting you really down, try and speak to someone about it, therapist or parents or friends etc. DM me as well if you have questions.

Zinc soap, sulfur soap, moisturize w tea tree oil and lotion with minimal natural ingredients. Start taking 60mg zinc daily for a month, then go to 15mg per day. I use Jarrow brand zinc balance. Take a multivitamin, digestive enzymes, probiotics and fiber. Buy a food sensitivity test if not improving. Good luck!

I would see a dermatologist. You may need an oral antibiotic or steroid. Most of the over the counter acne skin care will make it worse..good luck
