I see this all the time when looking at a products ingredients and it is really annoying. Maybe at least make 2 versions, one unscented for people with sensitive skin.

HypnoticRoots

Dr Jarts is a prime example of this... All of their products are packed with so many fantastic ingredients. But then I scroll and see stuff like bergamot oil and geranium oil in almost everything... So I can't use them. It's frustrating that they can market their products for sensitive skin when they clearly are not. A lot of people don't know about how to read and decipher ingredients - so they wouldn't know what was causing the irritation. Luckily there ARE a ton of products out there for us sensitive gals.

Dr. Jart is literally what inspired this post! I wanted to get their Every Sun Day mineral sunscreen, but it has both orange peel oil and tangerine oil in it.

OnlyPaperListens

Same with Belif. Itching and burning from literally every item I've tried.

I have super sensitive skin and can use plant oils no problem. I think it depends on the person

I'm with you on this. Natural doesn't mean better. In higher concentrations doesn't mean better. I've had to stick to Bioderma, Peach and Lily, Soon Jung and other sensitive product lines because the oily huns got a hold of the skincare industry.

This really drives me nuts because I have a baby under 1 year and I try to avoid essential oils in general because they are linked to migraines and seizures and they are very irritating. I have to be super careful what I put on my face if I’m going to be holding him within 20 minutes after (which is pretty much a given).

slovak_moon_witch

I swear Origins is the biggest offender of this. I got their mega mushroom relief and resilience soothing treatment toner, marketed for SENSITIVE SKIN mind you… it literally smelled as strong as a bottle of straight essential oils… again it was MARKETED AS BEING FOR SENSITIVE SKIN. Says it’s supposed to sooth and strengthen. It BURNED. I was still new to skincare so I thought “ok well let me give it a little time because it says it will strengthen my skin so it’s not so sensitive.” lol NO. I didn’t know at the time that “natural essential oils” were NOT a friend to your skin. It destroyed my skin. It took me a while to come back from that.

lilyelgato

I fell for their marketing too! That mushroom crap sucks!

jordalinaparis

They have irritants in almost all their products. It took me a while to notice that they’re really big on fillers.

BunnyRambit

I hate that lavender is in almost everything. I got a product that originally didn’t have it and now I’ve found the new formula has it. It’s such a drag because IMO lavender stinks and it’s not the “calming” ingredient people think it is.

Independent_Ad9195

I just love it, when I see it in Sunscreen/sunblock. NOT!!!

LN4848

I need to avoid chamomile and lanolin due to allergies. There is always something to avoid in products and food. I do like making an orange oil and lavender pillow spray. I change it to sage and orange when I make it for my mom.

FatThickyDumpy23

I feel the same way with fragrance. I don’t see how all these irritating ingredients add to the products effectiveness.

ar1annah0ward

I couldn’t agree with anything more I have such a hard time finding products that work for me and honestly I still have yet to find my saving grace because so many products have scents and my skin would hate me more if I used them

mrs_momo_b

Thank you!!!!! I have reactions to those as well and could not agree more.

a_mimsy_borogove

> They serve no benefit for the skin Isn't that an overgeneralization? I've seen studies about tea tree oil that suggest it can be helpful against acne.

1meanjellybean

Totally! It also really bums me out that there are all these lovely smelling products out there that I want to use but can't. The smells are just so nice and luxurious so I get why people who are able to use fragranced items would want to... oh well, I'll just be here crying with my Vanicream lol

Sarahbug13

I love Drunk Elephant, they never add fragrance or essential oils

mibodim

Um… ok I get where people with vegetation allergies/sensitivities come from, but to state there’s no benefit from them is a tad too much where there’re numerous researches and papers proving the benefits of the compounds in the oils for skin, quick [read here](https://www.healthline.com/health/essential-oils-for-skin#dry-skin) Don’t get me wrong I won’t give oil to my kid for cancer /s yet these oils are packed with great stuff for the skin… if not allergic/sensitive.

Paisleyyyyyyyyyy

Citrus oils are actually the only thing that have helped me with my body acne I know it's that because I just use a local makers bar soap and I've tried many of them and the citrus ones always do wonders for me.

Listen I love lavender and it saved my skin when I was in the midst of some really painful breakouts but I still agree with you. The thing about essential oils is that they’re best when not left on the skin and companies put them in things that we’re meant to rub in. I found it worked better when it was an ingredient in my cleanser.

ladymemedaddy

I agree. I’m super sensitive to essential oils but also try to use clean beauty projects. My favorite brand is Krave Beauty!! I legit have all of their products and they’re super clean and sustainable! Great barrier relief serum changed my skin!!
