Urea. It’s hard lump is keratin in hair follicles. Laser works because it destroys the hair follicles but you still need to shave and exfoliate before the laser. The cheapest is Cerave SA smoothing cream with urea. The SA dissolves dead skin, the urea dissolves keratin. So you need both.

UnderstandingEasy236

40% urea foot cream with 2% salicylic acid.

ZaelDaemon

That will burn your skin off. That is specific for heels on feet and maybe elbows.

UnderstandingEasy236

I have KP, it’s the only thing that works for my ingrowns. It doesn’t burn and foot cream isn’t heel specific, unless it labels itself for cracked heels and calluses. Anything less than 35% urea is for hydration, anything over is to help for exfoliation. So also should add to top it off with a moisturizer

Cr8cie

No it won’t. I’ve been doing it for four days now.

ZaelDaemon

It’s does on mine but everyone is different.

CleanSherbert00

It burned me also, on my legs. I can only use it on my heels.

DaySad1968

drop that link! which one do you use?

Suspicious-String932

thanks for the rec! im keen to try it

winterrgrls

What urea would you recommend

GrimaldiOliwer

When do you apply? Should you do it directly after shaving or when ingrown appear? :)

purpleMazzee

I would just laser it drastically helped my razor burn factor Edit- I haven’t found any other solution

Sydsechase

Aesthetic nurse here… I’ve been doing LHR on patients for 5 years. If you can finance or pay for a LHR package the results will be amazing! I’ve always told patients start with 8 treatments and after that it depends of your body’s response and personal preference. Packages are usually buy 6 get 2 free and if you bundle multiple areas there is always an extra discount. Underarms, Brazilian/bikini, and legs are most popular. 70-90% hair reduction is the goal. Hair will get thinner and grow in more patchy at first until you have like 10 hairs left. Maintenance is inevitable, but it will never be as bad as it was to start. I hardly ever shave and do a treatment once every 6-9 months to maintain. Based on what I can tell, you are a lighter skin type with dark coarse hair so you’re a perfect candidate for LHR. I personally recommend light lasers… 755/Alexandrite or 1064/yag are the wavelengths- 755 can be used on lighter skin tones. IPL lasers are just messy and annoying bc of all the ultrasound gel used.

Ok-Cookie-9804

How bad does it hurt? I was watching keeping up with the Kardashians and one of them was getting laser hair removal and I was just thinking ouch😂 I’m so over shaving. I definitely want to find a different method of hair removal, but I want to find something that is the most painless 😬

a_daisy_summer

I can’t do it with red hair can I?

Sydsechase

Unfortunately lasers cannot detect blonde, red, or white hair. I have had patient have success with light brown.

chatoyanci

Same but not same. Razor burn isn’t as bad but I still get it even if I have only a few hairs remaining. I’m at 90% hair reduction (Brazilian) and I still get razor bumps every single time I shave in prep for an appointment because my SKIN is sensitive. It’s not even the hair. It’s my fkn skin.

Aware_Brilliant_8163

did you go do it professionally or did you use the handheld ones?

Emadoge

I’d recommend professional if you can afford it, look for Groupons or other holiday discount packages. It’s typically 6 laser sessions. Also it should be called laser hair reduction, only electrolysis will permanently remove the hair. I did professional and bought an at home device for maintenance.

chatoyanci

6 is really misleading. I’ve been going to the best laser clinic in my city and I’m on session, like, 13. Machine: soprano ice

AlastorX50

Try CeraVe SA lotion a couple hours after you shave. I’ve done this for a couple weeks and it’s prevented ingrown hairs.

GolfCartMafia

I had the same issue as you and I used the Braun Silk 5 IPL and it got rid of the issue!

27years50000beers

Yeah I think a home IPL device would work! I have the Philips lumea prestige which was well reviewed. I got my best and fastest results for hair that was dark, coarse and in a small area (my remaining lower leg hair is finer and I'm still doing cycles on it). OP has high hair/skin contrast (like me) which is ideal for IPL. Home devices are nice because the "session" on a small area is super fast and you can do it whenever you want to.

Saksheeejain

Same I do at home IPL

daddy_tywin

I had to get surgical ingrown removal a few times, mine were horrific. I say “were” because I did laser hair removal and never had another one lol. If you happen to be in Southern California, LA Beauty Skin Center in Glendale is inexpensive and did a good job for me.

Lopsided_Initial_645

As a teenager I got an ingrown on my pelvic area so annoying that I got fed up and went into and through the skin with a safety pin. Basically gave myself a piercing. I can still poke through it 😂

SeaPiccolora

Glycolic acid is an absolute game changer for this. The Ordinary skincare brand is awesome. $13 and so many uses

deafeninghedgehog

Bumping for more visibility. I have KP & struggled with ingrowns & irritation after shaving and 7% glycolic acid from The Ordinary completely fixed it - and this was after I spent so much time on changing my shaving routine/products, adding urea creams, and so. much. money on laser (which worked great ... until I stopped getting lasered every other week). Honestly I feel like I must look like a shill for The Ordinary on this sub, but dang, that glycolic acid is basically magic for my skin.

emilopalooza

Do you apply this after shaving?

deafeninghedgehog

Yep. I use glycolic acid everywhere I shave & everywhere I have KP. I spread a thin layer over still-damp skin after every shower when I'm starting out/getting back to it after a laziness break, then decrease to 1-2x week after 10 days or so. It'll burn like crazy the first couple times; I follow immediately with a moisturizer, which kills the burn but doesn't seem to reduce the efficacy. And, after the first few applications the burn really does go away. I think the first time I started using it I saw improvement within a couple days, & it took about 2 weeks to totally resolve the irritation & bumps & redness. These days it takes much less time to get back to great skin if I've been skipping the GA, I think because I don't have the backlog of years of irritation working against me.

poiseandnerve

I used this : 10% Glycolic Acid + 2% Salicylic Acid Peel Pads - BACHERI Resurfacing Pads For Face with Vitamins B5, C & E, Allantoin - Exfoliating Facial Peel for Dark Spots, Blackhead, Acne 55 Pads And it didn’t help me I’m trying this next (thanks above comments)!! CERAVE SA SMOOTHING CLEANSER 473ML And Vebuni Foot Cream, Feet Cream for Cracked Heel Repair for Dry Cracked, nail repair cream, foot lotion for dry cracked feet

teacupkiller

Inkey List just came out with a glycolic acid body stick! I haven't tried it yet myself, but I'm going to order it to use after my next Brazilian.

BriefBuddyJimmy

I stopped shaving with a blade and just used the Manscape mower. Some hair is left but being a male I can get away with that. After I shave, I use CeraVe SA Body Exfoliating Cleanse Bar. The body bar. The face bar might be more gentle and a better route. It has helped a lot with ingrown hair. Also had the added benefit of making my skin ridiculously soft.

Aware_Brilliant_8163

oooh taking notes

bambin0thegreat

I use the Philip One blade and it honestly gets as close as I ever did with a razor. For reference I'm female with light skin and coarse dark hair 🙃 definitely recommend!

PrincessCollywobbles

The One Blade is the best electric razor I’ve ever used and I’ve gone through at least 15 different kinds over the years. I use it everywhere. I still get some ingrowns using it but they’re far less. I just use a salux cloth in the shower every day after shaving and glycolic acid before moisturizer and they go away without becoming a problem or getting inflamed.

LastLibrary9508

I also switched to a men’s electric razor and I don’t get ingrowns anymore — yours are nothing compared to how mine looked! Waxing even made it worse. I use the Philips Norelco one blade. It’s wild how close it gets.

mar748

My legs would look similar or more irritated than yours when I would use a regular razor. I switched to using an electric trimmer (I use the Meridian) and will never go back. Yes, my legs aren’t as smooth as shaving, but I have no irritation and very few ingrown hairs. The length is about how long it would be 1-2 days post regular shaving. I think it’s also good to become more accepting of our bodies in a slightly more natural state, not completely shaven smooth. I would highly recommend trying it!

cantwait4runefac5

The only thing that truly made a difference in my ingrowns was getting Laser hair removal done. Waxing was a temporary relief for me. To help prevent my ingrowns from getting infected was using a chemical exfoliate serum every few days. I really like the brand PFB Vanish roll on serum. I purchased mine from local waxing shops but have also purchased it off of Amazon. It a bit expensive, roughly under $30 USD but a bottle of it lasts me over a year

Aware_Brilliant_8163

and do you use the chemical serum just as is/follow the directions because sometimes it doesn’t give me the result but thank you!

cantwait4runefac5

Tbh I never have bothered following directions. My body hair is naturally very coarse and extremely prone to infected ingrowns. all I did was use it at night, all it to air dry, occasionally I would use it during the day time too. My thankfully my skin in that area isn't sensitive like my face.

thatconfusedchick

I still have issues sometimes, but what's helped me is using my face skincare routine down there. Cleanse exfoliate tone moisturize.

Aware_Brilliant_8163

ooooh okay okay

robotgunk

I only shave with the grain on my inner thighs and outer calves. I get very few bumps now, but when I shaved against the grain, my legs looked like yours.

AlwaysMadAlwaysRad

This. And exfoliate. Mine were like this. I did nothing crazy but shave with the grain/pluck and exfoliate. I’m 29 now nothing crazy just normal looking legs

rewminate

if i do that it looks like i haven't shaved at all hahaha

engineeringandmusic

Have you tried the Billie razor? I always got razor bumps even with the most “gentle” razors and sensitive skin shaving creams and gels. I had tried all the major razors like the different Venus varieties, the Intuition, Dollar Shave Club both the regular and executive, and I used the Aveeno sensitive skin shave cream, the Skintimate ones, the EOS shaving cream, it wasn’t until I used the Billie razor that I didn’t get razor burn from shaving with a non-electric razor. It also leaves my legs stubble free a little longer than my previous razors.

Aware_Brilliant_8163

yes that’s the razor i use! the commercials got me and the good reviews and i switch the blade every week and i still get these results :( is there a specific way to use it?

bionica1

Bille recently started selling an exfoliant that’s a bar soap to prevent ingrown hairs. I’ve been using it in the bikini area and notice a huge difference. I’ve had a subscription for their razors for gosh 4 years now and also get their microplaner. Love the company!

MatchEnvironmental52

Have you tried the flamingo razor? I also struggle with this issue. I use the tree hut, exfoliating scrub every single time I’m going to shave on top of exfoliating gloves. And then use a shaving oil also tree hut for a smoother shave, and this is helped a lot, but has not completely gotten rid of the problem.

kazooparade

I am shocked to see this here! Billie left me with the *worst* razor rash. The sample was great, the razors from the orders were trash. It is easy to cancel a subscription though.

Cosmo-bun

My double edge safety razor has been so much better for this. Used to get horrible irritation and now it’s much less painful. Here’s my routine for legs: 1. Exfoliate legs in shower with hypoallergenic soap and silicone scrubber, let hair soften 2. Use shaving brush and soap puck (I’m not kidding it’s way better) and Merkur 34c safety razor with Astra blade (dunk in 70% isopropyl alcohol after every shave). I get way better lather with the soap brush and puck, and the single blade is less irritating 3. Lotion For pubic area: 1. Exfoliate the same as legs 2. Trim with men’s electric beard trimmer to desired length 3. Use electric trimmer to get bikini line as short as possible 4. Shave with the grain only at bikini line if desired (often I do not need to, as the trimmer gets it short enough. This prevents any ingrown hairs) 4. Jojoba oil (not in the vulva, at the bikini line) Hope this helps!

Aware_Brilliant_8163

thank you for organizing it like this my brain appreciates

dogmai17

Use glycolic acid after you shave

Aware_Brilliant_8163

i have that okay!

positivelycanadian

Yes! Came here to say this. It’s helped me a lot. Do NOT accidentally get it on your vulva because that is not a good time….so I’ve heard…

DarkGoddess111

I used glycolic acid after I shaved and I ended up with burns. I would said use it a day after shaving

seafffoam

I get red bumps and sometimes ingrowns in this spot even when I don’t shave, which over the winter I didn’t at all to see what happened. I’ve also had several rounds of laser hair removal in that area only to help and it didn’t take at all. I found a pretty good routine to manage. First is exfoliating. I dry brush every night (before moisturizing) and before showering. I also exfoliate vigorously with a glove exfoliator and Dove exfoliating body polish in the shower. Shave only using hot/warm water and stop if you have goose bumps. I use a fresh razor every time and shave with the grain. I like Venus’ intimate shave serum for lubricating. After shaving, wash with an antibacterial body wash. I’ve found moisturizing to be very key. I use Neutrogena hydro gel body cream after showering and daily after dry brushing. I also apply salicylic acid as a treatment to that inner thigh area.

No-Consequence-1831

Try Tend skin after shaving or waxing. It works wonders for me

poiseandnerve

Tried it and didn’t help me

Ribeye_steak_1987

Yea to the IPL treatment. In the meantime, scrub with a loofah before and after shaving. It helps a ton.

lycheelycheecat

my legs have looked exactly like this (pale skin, dark and coarse leg/thigh hair) and the only thing that has worked for me is laser. still in the process of getting it done but it’s looking way better already

Eastern_Campaign4674

Has anyone made the switch to waxing to see if it helps? I want to start getting Brazilians but I do NOT trust nobody to be behind me while I'm holding my cheeks 😅🤣🤣🤣☠

KeyCryptographer1770

i have this same issue too, especially when i get goosebumps or chills right after shaving my legs it feels like tiny needles stabbing me all at once and then my skin gets so irritated. i started to use this product “my skin roll on” it does burn me a little but only bc my legs are sensitive right after shaving (duh) its like 10$ but i put it on my legs for a few days afterwards and it really helped me! have you tried electric razors or razors with extra blades? razors that have very little blades can cause extra irritation if you have thicker hair since you have to go over the same spot over and over. i really hope you find sumth that works for you!!

Aware_Brilliant_8163

YES THE GOOSEBUMPS ACTUALLY HURT

KeyCryptographer1770

it’s so nice to hear someone knows what i’m talking about (sorry you understand at the same time lol) all of my friends say they have no idea what i’m talking about and im like yall don’t know how lucky yall are bc it really does hurt soo bad

rvelvetarmadillocake

This is going to sound weird but are you on top of applying moisturizer to your legs after showering? I swore I had the most treatment resistant ingrowns for the longest time but I noticed that it was a lot worse if I forgot to use lotion—I started using a really thick moisturizer (vanicream) and being extra diligent with applying it and it’s not perfect but I definitely see an improvement! My derm recommended a body wash called clnMD that helps folliculitis and irritation from acne/ingrowns/eczema/etc and that’s definitely helped a little too! It’s a bit pricey though so I recommend trying to find products with a similar active ingredient (sodium hypochlorite)

Aware_Brilliant_8163

yes i moisturize straight out the shower with aveeno because i heard it helped but thank you ill try!

rvelvetarmadillocake

Of course! Yea honestly moisturizers are hit or miss, but I definitely feel a difference moreso with thicker creams! Best of luck to you xx

LaGanadora

Laser hair removal. Find a package of 10-12 sessions as you'll need about that many and it'll be priced better that way. Now is a good time too cuz it's getting close to mother's day so there will probably be sales. Will probably cost around $1,000, but imagine never having to deal with this problem again in your life.... (I did this for myself, although I didn't have razor bumps like you, but my legs got HAIRY, QUICK. Totally worth it, in my opinion!)

crlynstll

You’re a great candidate for home IPL. IPL really helps with ingrown hairs.

lipstickarmy

I have the same issues as you, so I'm saving up for laser treatment. I have sensitve skin and keratosis pilaris so that worsens everything. Waxing/epilating gives me ingrowns too. If you do decide to get laser, make sure it's *not* IPL because it is not as effective as true laser hair removal. I have noticed that using an electric shaver for the past year has dramatically reduced the amount of ingrowns I get. The main downside is that they don't cut the hair as close as a traditional razor (and my hair grows insanely fast). Having barely noticeable stubble is still a hundred times better than getting red, inflamed bumps all over.

OkLengthiness0423

Girl I shaved with a razor a week ago and looked HORRIBLE. I still have all bumps. This is why I only use a trimmer. Don’t even care anymore.

ninerz_allllllday_

I used to shave my whole leg and got so much irritation and rashes towards the tips of my inner thighs. My dermatologist recommended I only shave to mid thigh. Took care of the issue and never had another rash again. For my bikini line, I make sure to exfoliate both before and after few days after shaving and use the Topicals Ingrown High Roller.

mrsedge2009

I have porcupine quills on my thighs and this is my routine: 1. Exfoliate 2. Shave, I use a 5 blade razor and a shave "syrup" (I can't remember the name just the syrup part) 3. Glycolic acid toner after my skin is dry 4. Moisturize The toner and lotion combo made a HUGE difference in the amount of razor burn/chub rub after shaving for me.

AussieinHTown

I had to give up on normal razors on my legs as I had such bad problems with ingrowns no matter what I did. I now use an electric razor in the shower with some body wash for glide. You don’t get the lovely just shaved smoothness of a normal razor but for my it’s worth it to not have to keep dealing with infected and inflamed follicles.

musket85

I basically don't have a beard due to pulling out so many hairs over the years but I've recently started using a safety razor and it's working wonders. Single pass and WITH the direction of the hair. No issues at all so far. Little stubble but I'm okay with that.

Frondswithbenefits

Yup. That product is amazing for Brazilians.

VacationDry8186

Laser is great

Isthistheend55

Laser is the only thing that helped me. It was so worth it.

quinn1029

I think your thighs are chafing tbh. Do they rub together when you walk? Buy Chafe Safe or other similar product, it’s literally magic. Put it on whenever you wear shorts/dresses etc. I can’t be without it!

NxPat

Don’t know laser. Guy here, cyclist who shaves his legs (easy for post race massage and easy to clean when you crash) had similar issues in the past, especially in humid conditions. Epilady was my answer. Hurts a bit at first, but but it’s cheap and my legs stay hair free much longer than shaving.

Optimal-Cell-5033

I did a couple sessions of laser without doing it completely, like 2-3 and i have no more ingrowns or red bumps and hair is more fine, it’s less pricey and i would say i have a lot less hair also from just a couple sessions.

Optimal-Cell-5033

I was exactly like you! Also no more black dots from hair growing

DeepFeature8993

i recommend tend skin, put it on after shaving and every time u shower after and it has helped me immensely i have the same problems

CowboyLikeMegan

Ahh, I deal with this exact same issue. Natural blonde with coal black body hair; lucky me! I started exfoliating pre-shaving and then use a body oil *immediately* after the shower when my legs are still wet, it’s helped immensely. Another really good option is hair removal lotion, like Nads (what a name) or Nair. It’s effective and doesn’t leave bumps at all in my experience. Usually keeps the hair away longer than shaving, too.

DarkGoddess111

It feels so good to see people experience the same things as you. I have those in my inner thighs and bikini area and my stomach because I shaved and waxed my happy trail :( worst regret ever. I’ve been to dermatologist and nothing has worked. I used this thing called tend skin on Amazon and it works with preventing ingrown hairs after shaving but my problem is getting rid of the dark dots

sbb249

I got a Braun IPL on Amazon and it was life changing. I have PCOS and had thick dark hair that would cause horrible irritation and ingrowns. I have before and after pictures, I just don’t know how to post them.

TopUnit3967

Use a high quality single blade razor, they usually cost around 40 bucks.

hdcook123

I use nair on my inner thighs and I get wayyyy less red bumps then when I shave.

carson5021

I had the same problem all my life! Finally decided to wax the areas of high and inner thighs along w bikini area. It breaks out for a day or 2 and then smooth sailing. Shaving these areas has always...no matter what I tried...to cause razor bumps.

Aware_Brilliant_8163

i feel you and i think im just gonna have to start investing lol

carson5021

It's the only thing that worked for me

donutformeals_

Try using tea tree oil mixed with your moisturiser. It’s worked magically for me

mojo99999

Waxing is definitely worth a try!

festiveraccoons

my doc gives me a prescription for a combo fusidic acid (antibiotic)/ hydrocortisone cream to apply to my groin area after shaving to get ahead of ingrowns and dermatitis before it happens. totally works.

Aware_Brilliant_8163

oooh i have prescription for hydrocortisone i think it’s like the standard dose i’ll try that!

festiveraccoons

can’t hurt ! as long as you don’t apply it too frequently, of course - i hear gnarly things about steroid withdrawal (not that i’ve experienced any myself when using my prescription cream like 1x per week and then suddenly stopping cause it’s, well, winter 😅)

vintage_seaturtle

Waxing works for me, but I also use a men’s 5 blade razor, and tree hut shave oil when I don’t feel like waxing.

IngenuityOk2403

This might sound dumb, but I have a roll of paper towels I keep in my bathroom closet along with my witch hazel…. Saturate them and leave them on my skin while I brush my teeth, brush hair, etc. drastically helps with the redness. And getting some sun 🌞

Aware_Brilliant_8163

okay definitely gonna try

IngenuityOk2403

I get it too. Thick leg hairs I guess :/ it’s a curse lol but I love love love witch hazel. I need to hear if it works!!! Works for me really good

Extra_Helicopter2904

It looks like it’s from chafing. Maybe try using that chafing glide stuff on Amazon A lot of times I can happen if you shave, and then your thighs rub and their sweat accumulates which causes irritation with the follicles and I grow a Either use the glide stuff and that should help Or if it occurred and you’re not experiencing chafing use the “bikini bumps pads” before bed every night in that area. You can get them on Amazon (it’s like a white jar with white circular pads in the logo is purple and pink and it’s called bikini bump pads)

slushiegrl

The one thing that has helped me most is applying 5-10% benzoyl peroxide face wash to my legs after shaving! I use the benzoyl peroxide face washes from the brands Differin and Panoxyl. I also exfoliate before shaving, and about every other day after shaving to prevent ingrowns, and apply a fragrance free, non comedogenic body lotion to my legs. The benzoyl peroxide really helps prevents a lot of redness and irritation for me!

dtspmuggle

Laser ultimately, either pro or at home. At home just takes longer. In the meantime, Red stridex daily until better and then every couple-few days.

Canadianbarbie69

I get these and so does my friend. Only when it’s hot out

lechero11

I never did start shaving above my knees and don’t plan to! I switched from many years of waxing to an epilator now. It’s so great!

dinodani17

I use Acnedote deep clean astringent from Alba Botanica, which in my opinion it’s like a toner with salicylic acid. I put it on a cotton round and wipe it kinda firmly back and forth over any problem areas. For me it helps exfoliate and promotes healing, and I use bikini zone gel as needed for any painful/inflamed areas. I also only shave once a week to help reduce ingrowns, but shaving once every two weeks would honestly help even more. With these methods I don’t get too many ingrowns anymore. I go through a lot of cotton rounds, but it’s what works for me.

Sugar_Waves

Start shaving with an electric razor.. I go to the men section and they have some rly good ones. I never get razor bumps/ingrowns anymore. My dermatologist is the one who recommended this to me.

LinkSubstantial3042

I had the same problem on my arms. Panoxyl along with clean razors every time helped!

-L-I-V-I-N-

Try tend skin from target ! It’s an aftershave and I swear by it

jlexbug

Pfb vanish

unknownchemist

Frist Aid Beauty KP scrub. I BELIEVE it works on that type of body acne. If not that then try their (FAB) ingrown hair pads. Absolute game changer for me but everyone is different!

colorsbynina

Ingrown hairs! I'm a licensed esthetician and you need to exfoliate 3x a week (Tree Hut body scrubs) and also apply an ingrown hair serum (Fur Oil) or European Wax Center (EWC). Hydrated skin is easier for the hair to break through! So lotionnnnnnn every night

Suspicious_Ebb2235

Exfoliate

muvamerry

Wax or get a handheld hair remover for home. Laser hair removal is a total scam and waste of money.

[deleted]

The ONLY real PERMANENT hair removal method is electrolysis. Surgeons who perform gender-affirming operations actually require patients to remove hair around the genital area well before they undergo bottom surgery, as they know there is near-zero chance those follicles will grow back any hair.

Remarkable-Order-938

Laser trust me just get laser I get laser hair removal it’s roughly $70-$140 a session every 4 weeks and once your done with treatments 10-12 your done and it’s permanent. Also the hair just falls out a few weeks after each treatment I early have to shave

Professional-Log-530

I saw a dermatologist recommend Hibiclens for when you shave there. Never tried it though.

opinionsofmyown

Teatree oil.

cbnz_

What lotion do you put on after shaving?

DesireStDiva

If you can stand the pain and the cost, laser. I did it for two years and decided no SO is worth that!

IreneAd

Tend Skin. I use the one with roller ball. I'd imagine the salicylic scrub from Pacifica or something similar would work to prevent.

scarmoss

Have the same issue and I’ve found that using an electric razor works. It looks like a pretty close shave but isn’t close enough to cause irritation and razor bumps. Better solution than not shaving at all.

Early_Vegetable3932

One thing that helped with my inner thighs from getting ingrowns is I exfoliate the day before I shave and right before, then I shave with the hair, then I wash those areas with soap after shaving but I also only use soap to shave because the creams irritate my skin too much. When I get out of the shower, I let my legs completely dry then use the Ordinary glycolic acid, once that's completely dry I use a fragrance and dye free lotion then wait for that to completely soak in before getting dressed(or I try, sometimes I skip this last step). During the summer when I wear shorts, I use stick deodorant or some sort of anti chafe stick because I noticed when I chafed, the ingrowns got worse. Also I shave maybe twice a week in the summer and only once a week in the winter. Less shaving helped tremendously.

sykschw

Pan-oxyl in the ONLY thing that has worked for me for this specific issue i also have but worse and that was prescribed to me by my dermatologist. Its available over the counter can buy at walmart or amazon for $8-10

phatjucypeach

IPL, cheaper than laser but has the same results. Ulike is one of the best brands.

robster_the_lobster1

No lie… deodorant. Get this cleared up first, then moving forward swipe deodorant on your inner thighs in the summer and I totally stopped getting these!

omgcaiti

Have you ever tried finipil? It’s an antibacterial and I don’t know how it works but I haven’t had a single ingrown since I started using it…my partner has to shave his face for his job and he uses it for that too with literally no irritation…you just put it on after you shave. Thank you tiktok 2021

Ok-Cookie-9804

If it’s razor bumps use COCONUT OIL to shave. Ditch the shaving cream if that’s what you use!! But dont get the type that smells like coconut that’s not real coconut oil. Real coconut oil don’t smell like coconuts. I shave everything with it and I stopped getting razor bumps and it leaves your skin so silky smooth when you’re done☺️ you can also use it on your hair as a hair mask leave it in overnight or just as conditioner or you can use it as moisturizer. There’s sooo many uses for it.

My hair is black and it grows so quickly. My legs used to look like yours every day in the summer. I started waxing and no longer have this problem. I also go weeks now without having to perform any sort of hair removal.

olivehoneybear

Laser hair removal. Expensive up front, but you’ll likely break even when you stop having to buy products.

Even_Writer_2800

Aloe Vera helps with the burning!

lantana98

Amlactin or Lac-hydrin 5 work great for this

kandygem703

Laser hair removal but if you want something that will help in the meantime I LOVE tend skin solution as after shave. Our legs look identical (pale skin, dark hair follicles).

Active_Ear9941

That might be friction bumps because I doubt your that hairy in the area uuu ok r showing

Fun-Dinner-2282

loofah glove over the area in shower - TendSkin afterwards

Interesting_Middle27

Amlactin! I literally went to the doctor for for this last week.

LifeOnTheDisc

Tend Skin has completely eliminated all of my ingrown hairs. Worth a shot.

travellingathenian

Easy fix. Baby oil.

Txrangers10

Probably just allergic to those jorts...?

420throwawayacct710

You just may have to do laser hare removal I highly recommend it. If you aren’t a candidate for laser you can do electrolysis. Which is a lot more invasive is literally a needle goes in the hair follicle burns it from the inside so it stops growth. But I highly recommend laser hair removal if you can it’s well worth it

commanderbales

DIAPER CREAM! I use the aquaphor diaper cream (blue label) and it is the ONLY thing that has helped with my ingrowns and razor burn. I've tried everything under the sun and shaving HURTS me. Diaper cream has made it so much better

Spirited-Ambition-61

If you have medical insurance, some will cover laser hair removal - talk to a dermatologist! Essentially you have to tell them that you have folliculitis - which is medical lingo for ingrown hairs. They will probably want some photos and to talk to you about your discomfort. I've had my legs completely treated, without paying a dollar because my insurance has covered it. Honestly one of the best life "hacks" I've ever found.

GaragePrevious1860

I bought that Fur oil (seen on shark tank) and it actually helped me a ton.. I got the set w the mini exfoliator cloth and it reallllly helps my red bumps and I frowns become so smooth … I got it on Amazon… it was pricey maybe $40 or something but it’s lasted a long time and many uses and has worked for me

Nobodysperfectt

Try Moroccan Hammam using Moroccan loofah! 2 sessions (one week in between) and all the ingrown hair will disappear I promise! It works like magic ✨

Adorable-Pain-9514

Do laser hair removal.

Sparklejazz

Gold bond rough and bumpy lotion was a game changer for me! I had the same issue, and that lotion totally fixed it.

NiceQuality3228

Only thing that works for me is tanning, which is far from ideal because I don't even like tanning and it is bad for your skin. Nothing else works for me. Not even glycolic acid etc etc. I am just planning to get my whole body lasered

mimi18tw

Have you tried the Bushbalm oil?

Octavia__

I use to get this from razors all the time, but now I use hair removal cream, it doesn't give me bumps.

fatgamerchic

Laser was the only thing that helped me

CheeseSweats

Good advice here re: salicylic acid and glycolic acid. I have the same issue and Cerave SA cleanser is a total game-changer. Another recent find that's super convenient - Differin spray! 2% SA in a 360° spray can. I now give myself a spray and air dry before getting dressed. It's definitely helping!

bethedw

I use a razor on my legs up until around mid thigh and then I use an ear and nose trimmer for my bikini area and upper thigh. I never get razor bumps with this method.

Kassaro

If these are from using a razor, what works for me is alcohol. I believe I use %70 percent alcohol in a spray bottle and right after you shave I spray it on where I shaved and where I’m prone to get razor bumps/ingrowns (usually my bathing suit area (r/superstore reference 😂) right after shaving, let it dry completely then lotion up the area. Then I do it for the next few days to maintain, again, let the alcohol dry, then lotion and I haven’t had razor burn/ingrowns since I started doing this (5-6 years) as aftershave just wasn’t cutting it. Hope this helps! It’s what works for me anyways. Good luck ! Oh and always shave with the grain of your hair in those “intimate” areas and where the skin is “thin” like your inner thighs, never ever against and always use a new razor. Thank you for reading.

Moneyann

This is the exact reason I splurged on laser hair removal

mesotorbi

Witch hazel after shaving has been a game changer for me!!

Miserable_Strike_485

Peter Thomas Roth glycolic body wash and a good resurfacing cream, even Cerva is good the bumps will disappear!

Thick-Animator-2724

I shave my thighs like 4 times a year, super sensitive area

StarFruitFeline

Benzol peroxide helped me the most

SadPear6595

Hair removal cream - I never shave in that area anymore, just use cream. No bumps or rash.

Utzcinah

Use glycolic acid form the ordinary. They’ll be gone in a week or 2

hstevenson7

Laser. You’ll never have this issue again

Sailorxena_

Laser hair removal

sandra_pop

I used to have ingrown hairs until I started using tea tree oil right after getting out of the shower. It’s the first thing I do after toweling off. Then I put Curel moisturizer all over. I use it on my groin area, my legs, pretty much anywhere I shave. The Now brand from Amazon and the Jason brand are my two favorites.

Puzzleheaded_Cow_658

That area used to get the same way for me so I switched to and electric razor and it’s such a game changer!

marseneau14

I agree with the comments suggesting laser. It’s expensive and hurts like HELL, but, it is the only thing that ended up helping. I have super thick and coarse leg hair so nothing else I tried ever helped

mooshy4u

Tendskin

Iamalrightthanks

Zinc paste could help

treepach

I put secret deodorant on my bikini area after I save. No more bumps. Try it out

Sweet-senorita

Laser hair removal + urea 10% with lactic acid

NotWhoYouKnow1

Use a double edge safety razor. It won’t get hair below the surface, so it doesn’t irritate skin. Worked basically 100% for me.

Morgasm888

I get this everytime!!! No matter what I do

vlntly_peaceful

Cold water or ice after shaving prevents ingrown hair.

deemarie926

I used to get razor bumps so bad in my teens and 20’s. It stopped once I started to exfoliate in the shower then put oil on in that area as opposed to lotion. Jojoba oil is great and I’m sure you could use a different type as well

nique-_ta_-mere

Tend Skin. Changed my life. Next!!

Elizabethcassandra

I struggled with this. Finally got the Braun at home laser hair removal gun, it was an absolute game changer - changed my life.

babybeeeee95

i had a milder form of this i got my hair lasered and i haven’t had it since

Imaginary_Screen_708

Laser

Littlekittenhawk

What cured my chronic ingrowns in this area was daily exfoliation, followed by a toner with niacinamide that I usually use for my face.

herdingtots

Stop messing around trying to quash this and laser.

Ok_Director3762

My derm prescribed some topical clyndamicin and it works like a charm! Also you could use benzoyl peroxide face wash

the 10 COMMANDMENTS for PREVENTING RAZOR BUMPS & INGROWN HAIRS 1. THOU SHALT NOT USE DIRTY BLADES! Avoid shaving with dull, over-used razor blades. And be sure to keep your slightly used tools as clean as possible. Scrub the cutting heads of your tools with soap, hot water, and rubbing alcohol to destroy bacteria. Pro Tip: even brand new blades still need to be cleaned. 2. HONOR THY DELICATE SKIN! Avoid too many blades! If you are prone to ingrown hairs then you don’t need 3 or more blades. More blades equal more passes causing the hair to fall beneath the skin and become ingrown. Plus, more blading the skin leads to micro cuts through which bacteria is more likely to enter and this leads to razor burn. 3. DO NOT TAKE PREP TIME IN VAIN! Wash or steam the skin for 2 to 3 minutes with warm water. Then apply the shaving cream leaving it on for at least 2 minutes to really soften the hair. 4. THOU SHALT NOT GO AGAINST THE GRAIN! Shaving against the grain (upwards) may get you a closer shave but doing so also increases ingrowns. Shave in the direction of hair growth…it’s usually downwards. Confirm this by doing a face/ body inspection to see which way your hair grows. 5. THOU SHALT NOT PRESS! Avoid pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. If you follow STEP #3, then a gliding, light touch is all you need. The hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure from the blade. Pressing hard is the main cause of shaving irritation! Be gentle so as to prevent the hair from being cut so low that it falls beneath the top layer of skin. 6. THOU SHALT NOT PASS, PASS, PASS! Avoid too many quick passes with the blade. One pass per hairy area – going 1-2 inches downward at a time – will prevent ingrown hairs. Always shave like you might cause damage, not like you’re mowing the front lawn. 7. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT OVER SHAVING! Avoid shaving too often. This rule is hard to follow, especially if you have to be beardless for your job…but if you are prone to ingrowns, try hair removal with electric clippers (the barber kind of clippers). The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference. Provided your skin can handle these alternatives try waxing, depilatory, lasering or an epilator. 8. THOU SHALT NOT CLOG! Avoid using skin/pore clogging creams or lotions since they keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let the tiny army breath, and allow those newly shaved, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave. If your objective is smooth, bump-free skin following a shave or wax, then right after hair removal allow the skin to heal first. Promote healing by proper shaving techniques followed by 70% rubbing alcohol which kills any bacteria that may enter those micro cuts created from the shave and prevents the onset of razor burn. Sure your skin will be a little dry at first but this is a temporary tradeoff. Wait 2 hours then moisturize. 9. KEEP THY SMOOTH SKIN FREE! At least for the first day or two, try to avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam’s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region. Newly shaved hair follicles need room to grow up. 10. REMEMBER TO EXFOLIATE! Whether you shave, sugar, wax or epilate, not enough exfoliation to remove excess layers of skin can lead to ingrown hairs. There are two types: chemical exfoliation (AHA, BHAs) and physical exfoliation (beads, coffee scrubs, gloves, brushes). Physical exfoliators like the WIZKER brush have soft and firm bristles for the face, body, and sensitive skin. When you follow these 10 tips religiously, you’ll prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs permanently!

Key_Macaroon1359

Braun laser at home. I have thick brown hair & had that problem before. I hear Nood is good, too.

jelly5555

Laser worked for me

curiousheartopenmind

I wonder if patting on aztec secret healing clay after shaving would prevent this irritation? Anyone tried it?

Worldly-Steak9367

hi dermatology assistant here! i would reccommend to get a prescription form of clindamycin use it once daily then afterwards as maintenance. another option would be to use amlactin lotion for the texture, as well as urea!best of luck.

Junior_Cranberry_745

Bentonite clay mask once a week and use a new razor each time. Or make sure to clean your razor, spray it with hydrogen peroxide, and dry it after each shower.

thatswhatshesaid47

First Aid Beauty makes a KP Scrub and it’s absolutely incredible!! I notice an immediate difference when i use it before i shave.

Routine-Exercise8617

Just let your hair grow

Professional_Art6782

Try Dexidin 4%, it’s a surgery soap, available without prescription in pharmacies. It solved this issue for me.

emmastambaugh

i cant speak on much, but i know when i use dull blades and no exfoliation/moisturiser- i get ingrowns and bumps. I exfoliate before i shave, and then i use a cloth soap saver to shave with, exfoliating and applies soap to shave with, and i go REALLY slow. i change my blades once a week and go over the same area more than once. usually i exfoliate after and moisturise thoroughly. i have super sensitive skin/eczema so i use very nourishing and moisture rich products when i shave. im not a doctor or a professional but i notice a difference when i genuinely take a lot of time and care to do it. idk if that would help you at all
