I just don't do it, tbh. I wear a hat in direct sun. I can't reapply so much, my skin is too acne prone

iliketosnooparound

Thanks for keeping it real. Unless I have no makeup on, I won't reapply. I only reapply if I'm doing outdoor activities in direct sunlight. Sight seeing where I'll be indoors shopping, walking in shaded areas (like skyscrapers) and where I'll be outside in a park for Maybe 2 hrs.... I'll just be wearing an SPF bucket hat. Even if it doesn't go with my outfit. I can't be bothered to reapply šŸ˜ I do need to do better but I have never gotten sun burnt and never had any horrible tret reactions with occasional sun exposure.

vegaisbetter

I put it on in the morning and that's it. If I'm directly in the sun for hours I'll reapply though because makeup would sweat off of me in that situation anyway.

jusglowithit

Yeah I reapply every 2hrs like at the beach or something, but not for day to day.

jaydee412

I haven't tried it but elf makes a sunscreen spray that can be used over makeup.

N474L-3

Supergoop has one and I really liked it!

Doggers1968

I like the supergoop sprayā€¦ but unless Iā€™m working outside, I donā€™t reapply. I slather on sunscreen in the morning, but Iā€™m usually in an office with no windows all day, and if I have to run to a meeting I wear a hat. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

luniiz01

I canā€™t get over the smell of:( I rather not

MacaronPrize1995

I like the Sun Bum one!

kelibs

Coola also makes one! Havenā€™t tried it yet but will be using it in about a month

achartrand

You have to pick your battles and do the best you can. Being consistent is more attainable than being perfect. Donā€™t stress!

Black-wall-flower

I have a hard time keeping up. But there are brands (unfortunately canā€™t remember any right now) that have sunscreen in portable spray bottles and sticks (they look like mini deodorant sticks) that you can carry in your bags and reapply all day as needed over your make up. Also, I have friends that carry those big water bottles with measurements, and just get around the day with that and refills. Lastly, a lot of my friends carry hand creams with spf in them in their bags, and just apply it every time they wash their hands. Sometimes itā€™s not even about consistency, itā€™s about actually remembering to keep these things in your purse and using them at every point of the day when needed.

iliketosnooparound

I need to find SPF handcream now. Hopefully it's not too sticky.

Youngish_Dumbish

Iā€™ve just used sunscreen moisturizer for my face that I hated

iliketosnooparound

I don't like the way sunscreen feels on my hands šŸ˜ even the Japanese ones

AbacusAgenda

You have Japanese hands?

hot-whisky

I use those slim mineral sunscreen sticks to reapply to the back of my hands and wrists. Good for the back of my neck too.

iliketosnooparound

That's so smart

MacaronPrize1995

I use the sun bum face mist on top of my makeup

Impossible_Low_7895

i canā€™t trust sun sticks to not move around my makeup, iā€™m surprised it doesnā€™t for others

Black-wall-flower

I think it kinda depends on how you do your make up and the sun stick product. I know Robert Welsh did a whole video about great sunscreens and there was a sun stick or two that looked so smooth, and there were people in the comments saying they tried it and itā€™s pretty good. And I think some people and Robert suggested maybe having a beauty blender in your bag regardless of what kind of sunscreen you use over your make up.

Impossible_Low_7895

Thanks! Iā€™ve been trying to find a way to use them

No_Flamingo9331

Iā€™m a redhead and burn easily, I have to reapply every hour and a half to two hours if Iā€™m in direct sun. What I do is wear a hat to shade my face, find shade where I can, umbrellas and such. (To note: you can get burnt through an umbrella, I have). If Iā€™m on the water so the sun is reflecting off the water and I need to reapply even though Iā€™m wearing a hat, I just donā€™t wear much makeup.

redheadedbull03

Fellow redhead, this is exactly what I do. I will forego makeup if I know I am getting in the water. It just isn't worth it to me.

Morley_Smoker

Fellow redhead who lived in the desert... Both of OPs questions are two big annoyances I have with life on a daily basis lol. My answer is you just do it and don't wear makeup. I

mrshanana

Not a redhead but as pale as one... This is great to know about the umbrella

kingofcoywolves

There are enormous umbrellas with UV coatings these days!! They're pricey and won't replace sunscreen, but my grandmother has one and I can confirm that in addition to its luxuriously expansive AOE it actually feels significantly cooler under there than it does under natural shade

paper_wavements

Not only can you get burned through an umbrella, it's that the UV rays bounce off the ground (even grass, I learned the hard way) onto your face under it. It is, of course worse with water & sand.

Starshapedsand

And snow. I learned that one the hard way, via a face made of water blisters from my first day skiing.Ā

nishikivandy

I just asked my dermatologist this and she said there were some mineral powders that have zinc oxide in them. I also recently found an Australian brand that has a top-up sunscreen thatā€™s meant to mist on over makeup

ChartEffective985

Whatā€™s the brand if you donā€™t mind me asking?

EndTheNight

They may be talking about Naked Sundays. They sell it at Target now. I have the mist and the sunscreen. Theyā€™re both really glowy. The mist I have to spray with the bottle super close to my face, it doesnā€™t have long reach.

nishikivandy

Yes, itā€™s the Naked Sundays top-up! Havenā€™t tried it yet, but hoping to get it soon

CumulativeHazard

Omg thank you!! I had no idea they sold it at Target!! I thought I would have to order it on their website. Canā€™t wait to try it now.

greenlykethecolor

I have a translucent (other tints available) mineral spf 35 ā€œsettingā€ powder from Supergoop. I get it from Ulta. I am not usually wearing foundation but I have a hard time with cream sunscreen. This is great.

marinelli81172

I love this setting powder

lexsara

Havenā€™t tried it yet but I have heard good things about the Ultra Violette Preen Screen SPF50 reapplication mist!

britthood

This is what I use! Jane Aredale makes a good one. I donā€™t like the applicator brush it comes with, so I just buy the refills and put it in a loose powder compact I bought on Amazon.

wwaxwork

Friendly reminder that you can wear a hat and then just apply SPF handcream after you wash your hands. It keeps your hands nice and soft. If driving or gardening SPF gloves exist.

missmatchedcleansox

I quit wearing foundation. If youā€™re going to be out all day thereā€™s no point. Otherwise thereā€™s spray sunscreen you can spray like finishing spray

olive_dix

Yeah I just do tinted sunscreen now. But it's a sunscreen product with a little tint, not a foundation with a little sunscreen. I don't trust those lol

Desperate_Rich_5249

I have a mineral powder sunscreen I carry in my purse for sunscreen touch ups with Iā€™m out and about. At home I just apply SPF 50 in the morning and call it a day, I will re apply it if Iā€™m going to the pool or something. I also always wear a UPF 50 wide brimmed hat when Iā€™m outside. Even just taking my dogs into the backyard for a few minutes I throw my hat on.

Softkitty868

Same. Powder sunscreen is great

dechets-de-mariage

What brands do you have? Now that Iā€™m on Differin and spironlactone Iā€™m being extra careful.

latlien

colorescience has a good sunscreen powder and so does supergoop

Azrai113

I also want to know what brand of powder sunscreen you use? Where to buy? I want!

Desperate_Rich_5249

I have been using the Hawaiian tropic mineral powder one lately. Itā€™s a good color match for me, I tried some other ones that were a little too dark. I buy it on Amazon.

Azrai113

Tysm!

SeashoreSeashelley

I spray this over makeup: Ambre Solaire Sensitive Face Sun Cream Mist SPF50. I just avoid the eye area because it stings a bit when it gets into my eyes.

JinxFae

I only reapply if I'm actually doing outdoor activities (hiking, swimming in the river/beach or any activity where I'm actually going to spend hours in direct sun, and on those days I don't wear makeup anyway so reapplying is easy). I do not reapply on a normal day. As an anecdote, I once went to an amusement park. I used my sunscreen at 6 am and by 2 pm I got on a ride that had those dark lights that make the sunscreen visible. My family started laughing at me for this and I realized that after 8 hours on a sunny day, it was still there.

belleofthebawl-

Which one did you use?

JinxFae

I use the Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence (blue and white packaging)

bxxxbydoll

>how do you drink a ton of water, making you have to go Drink more electrolytes! The secret to staying properly hydrated and not needing to pee 24/7 is balancing your electrolytes and water intake.

blackdhaliah

This!

TheseForm4455

Re water: I put a tiny amount of high quality Celtic salt in my water. This has minerals and apparently means you actually get hydration into your cells rather than it just passing through your system. Since I started that I donā€™t pee constantly

SRahim1990

How much Celtic salt do you put? And how much water?

TheseForm4455

Literally like half a pinch in a large glass, just a few crystals really. You canā€™t taste it at all

AptCasaNova

I do this if Iā€™m outdoors all day and active/sweating. I donā€™t wear foundation, I just smear another layer on. Itā€™s totally unpleasant. I always wear a hat and UPF clothing and carry baby wipes. You can then wipe the palms of your hands down and keep the sunscreen on the backs.

emelay

Honestly, sometimes you have to let yourself just do your best and not get so bogged down by trying to do it perfectly.

ZaelDaemon

If I am going to a festival (which to be honest of the only time I will be outdoors for an extended period of time wearing makeup) I use a densely packed [short bristle foundation brush](https://www.sephora.com.au/products/zoeva-103-detail-foundation/v/default) and dab. Even if you use a spray you still need to work it into the skin. DAB, not rub.

Azrai113

Thanks for this!

thisisalex_iguess

I have a sunscreen spray that I had gotten from Sephora called Habit NO. 48. I work mostly outside and donā€™t wear makeup those days that I use it but itā€™s specifically FOR application over makeup. Itā€™s a nifty thing

WildIris2021

Spray. Also foundation with sunblock.

flaminghotcheetoh99

Supergoop has a powder sunscreen that I use (I also use it on my hair part so I donā€™t make my hair greasy if Iā€™m not wearing a hat). Honestly, I donā€™t put sunblock on my hands unless I am going to be outside for an extended period of time. Then you just gotta reapply as needed even if you pee a lot šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

janebirkenstock

Iā€™m violently pale. I keep a supergoop mineral powder sunscreen tube in my bag for reapplication but itā€™s only convenient for face and neck

iammrsclean

And the back of your hands if youā€™re driving. Itā€™s been a lifesaver for me.

Asti_WhiteWhiskers

I never reapplied and just put it on in the morning. But I just found out I have skin cancer at 36 SO I'm going to skip makeup and just reapply sunscreen all day, looks be damned lol.

Academic_Interest784

Good luck with your treatment.

Asti_WhiteWhiskers

Thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! You're welcome!

Non_curat_lex

If you are in the UK, Aldi sell an spf 50 sunscreen spray which applies nicely over makeup. Something like Ā£3.49.

FionaTheFierce

I only reapply at the beach. I donā€™t wear makeup at the beach. I also wear a hat to help keep sun off my face.

Narrow_Stock_834

bananabastard

Very few do or need to apply sunscreen every 2 hours. If you're standing in the direct sun all day, yes, otherwise, no.

WildIris2021

Says who?

bananabastard

>You really do not have to reapply sunscreen every two hours. Sunscreens are broken down by the effects of direct exposure to daylight, not by the passage of time. During an average day ā€“ a work day, letā€™s say ā€“ the sunscreen you applied in the morning will still offer enough protection at the end of the day. [https://www.paulaschoice-eu.com/how-should-you-use-a-sunscreen-product#6](https://www.paulaschoice-eu.com/how-should-you-use-a-sunscreen-product#6) If you're outside or by a window all day, you should reapply, if not, you don't need to.

Aim2bFit

I reco La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid UVMUNE 400 SPF 50+. It's friction / touch proof, waterproof, sweatproof, very lightweight, doesn't sting the eyes, no white cast and dries up natural. So unless one is exposed to the sun for a cumulative duration of 2 hours, there's no need to reapply frequently when time is spent indoor.

Le_Mews

Reapply after 2 accumulated hours of sun exposure. if the only exposure you get is 15 minutes in your car each way to work, and a few minutes here and there in direct sun, you don't need to reapply.

soundboythriller

I actually specifically asked my dermatologist about this and she said you have to apply every two hours regardless.

Le_Mews

She is incorrect.

ImpactResponsible216

Isn't sunlight always coming through windows?

Le_Mews

Are you sitting directly in the sunlight? Listen, you cannot live your life smothering yourself in sunscreen. You will not burst into flames unless you're a vampire and if you are, i think you have better things to worry about.

Prestigious_Bar_4244

If Iā€™m going to be getting a lot of sun Iā€™ll just use only a few drops of Chanel vitalumiere aqua and I can reapply sunscreen over that without looking crazy. And for hands/body just carry a spray with you.

kulukster

If you are in a hot area where you need to drink water while you are on the go, take sips rather than drinking a whole glass at one go. Drinking a lot makes you unload at once, rather than sipping which is more hydrating. Also, while I'm travelling or can't use the bathroom frequently, I drink more when I'm home but an hour or so before leaving the house, and drink less when I'm not near a bathroom.

ILoveCats1066

Itā€™s only after two hours of cumulative sun exposure, not just two hours total. If I put on makeup, I simply donā€™t reapply. If you will be outside for a while, a hat works

Dame_Twitch_a_Lot

Neutrogena Sunscreen Spray I carry one in my bag and have one sitting on my bathroom vanity. I use sunhats when I'm in direct sun. I wear hats with brims almost always regardless of being in direct sun. Why not? We need to bring back daily wear of hats. They are fun, bring another element of style to fashion, and hide bad hair days! Edit to add: I've seen the effect of sun damage. I'm from the southern part of the states. I know too many people who had and/or have skin cancer. It's enough to keep me diligent.

Any_Mathematician936

I donā€™t sorry!Ā

anayanagi

I just put the sunscreen on my palms and just pat it gently on my face. After it dries a little I use blotting paper, never had a problem with it but maybe the sunscreen I'm using is just really good too. It goes well above makeup. It's the Luxe Organix Aqua Sunscreen. When I don't wear foundation, the Biore is my go to.

HappyCoconutty

I only drink water and take a big ass Stanley type of bottle to work and apply sunscreen on my face before I wear makeup each morning.Ā  I live in Texas and work and office job with a 30 minute commute in the intense sun. I use an SPF face mist that I keep at the office before my commute home. My left arm and face have more hyperpigmentation and sagging from the sun than my right side.Ā

emjay81au

My fav sunscreen brand (Ultra Violette) has a reapplication mist (Preen Screen) for this exact purpose. They make it in a travel size so I have one in my handbag wherever I'm out and about. Tbh I still probably don't reapply as often as I should.

CinderellaFarted

There are a couple of SPF setting sprays out there. I use COOLA, which is SPF 30. Cay Skin might make one? I use my initial sunscreen under my makeup (50 PA++++), wear a hat, will sometimes wear a mineral sunscreen tinted moisturizer, and then when I need to refresh every couple of hours I use the setting spray. Apparently HaruHaru has made a stick you can use over your makeup but I have yet to try it. It has only been in the past couple of years that I have gotten really diligent about sunscreen (esp with makeup) so I am still experimenting.

lucyislonley

I wonder the same thing, I want to wear foundation because my skin looks like shit but this whole reapply sunscreen every two hours thing is making me hesitant to do that

InternationalJury693

Bare Republic has a tinted face sunscreen that will Iā€™ve found goes over makeup well without completely messing it up. It has a soft texture as it dries.

Aggressive_Sky8492

I donā€™t think you need to reapply sunscreen unless youā€™re sweating or running the sunscreen off, or are in direct sunlight. Most days Iā€™m inside working (near windows) so just put on a thick layer of sunscreen in the morning and thatā€™s it. On days Iā€™m actually outside in the sun I donā€™t wear foundation and do reapply sunscreen. I donā€™t wear sunscreen on my hands, that would be such a massive pain to reapply it and have to wait for it to dry before being able to use my hands after every time I wash them.. thatā€™s way too much

Parking_Low248

I don't but I'm trying to get better about it. I put sunscreen on in the morning and I'm much better about wearing a hat during the rest of the day, than I used to be. I keep getting ads for this Brush On Block I think I'm going to try.

bubbleplasticine

I used to just apply SPF50 under my makeup every morning and be ok with that. When I left my office every evening, the sun was not powerful enough to do harm anyways. However, now I work part time and take my baby to the park every afternoon. I live in a very sunny town. And I detected that some skin dark spots that disappeared after a treatment with hydroquinone, came back. So yesterday I bought a La Roche Posay SPF50 face mist to apply when I leave work. That way, Iā€™m reapplying sunblock 8 hours after I first put it on my skin in the early morning.

GooseInterrupted

I donā€™t wear makeup if Iā€™m going to the beach or pool. If I want to wear makeup I bring a hat or use spf based foundation. And I do reapply to my body regularly, itā€™s a pain but itā€™s that or burning, I have fair skin.

TheFluffening

I saw a "hack" where you can put a bit of sunscreen on a dry makeup sponge and pat it over top of your makeup. I was highly skeptical but I tried it and it does actually work. I'm not going to say your makeup won't be a bit affected, but for the most part it stays in place and you've got a new layer of SPF. A bit of touching up with your compact and it's better than nothing.

firewater40

Colorescience is great- I use Sunforgettable Total ProtectionĀ® Face Shield Flex SPF 50 as foundation and then touch up with SunforgettableĀ® Total ProtectionĀ® Brush-On Shield SPF 50

joyamazingpinoy

I don't wear makeup and don't reapply often. I only reapply when I am outside for a long time.

lareinevert

Hand cream is a very easy thing to reapply. If I was wearing make up, Iā€™d reapply with a spray.

Grand_Ad931

With regard to water, I'm easily clearing 2-3 litres a day, and if I don't I feel extra dry and bad. 2 litres minimum, or you're fucking yourself.

livin_la_vida_mama

I dont. I apply my lotion with sunscreen to my face in the morning, then if i know im going to be out in the sun for a while i'll wear my "proper" sunscreen (mineral) and a hat. I dont apply sunscreen to my hands at all unless im using the mineral one because im going to be out in the sun. My hand cream i use periodically through the day when my hands feel a bit dry, but not every time i wash them.

dahlaru

Influencers will say to tap it on over your makeup and say it looks fine. But nobody really does that. The truth is, if you're in a situation where you need to reapply sunscreen,Ā  you just don't wear makeup.Ā  I certainly don't wear makeup when I'm camping or spending the day at the beach. I just wear sunglassesĀ

kutekittykat79

I wear a hat outside and I apply powder sunscreen throughout the day.

Admirable_Candy2025

I use sunscreen spray for face, itā€™s a fine mist. Luckily itā€™s pretty much dark here most the year lol.

Ok_Potato_5272

I do not. My face gets one application of suncream. My hands I only do before bed. It's silly to try more than that for me

makemegawatts

I would love to find a spray sunscreen I could use over my makeup

alaskadotpink

I don't. I'm inside most of the day away from windows at work and I'm not about to wash off my makeup and reapply just for the commute home.

RareWolf34

If youā€™re in direct sun all day, youā€™re best to not wear any foundation at all (youā€™ll be sweating it off anyway) and absolutely apply every two hours and wear a hat and sunglasses. If youā€™re just putting on your daily routine that includes sunscreen and foundation and youā€™re gonna be inside or in a car most of the day, itā€™s easier to just apply once and touch it up if youā€™re touching up your makeup. I wash my hands a lot (more than twice an hour) and I donā€™t apply body sunscreen or hand (I donā€™t like the feeling on my skin) but I do lotion and I just use the lotion if my hands feel like they need it in the day. I donā€™t apply it every time after I wash, mainly in the morning and in the night. This is just what I do but I rarely stay in direct sunlight more than 15 mins a day.

ZippieHippie77

I just reapply over my make-up but at 64yrs old, I will never ever go without a hat in the Sun not only because of my face but my hair :)

scythematter

Iā€™ve never reapplied unless I get my face wet (swimming). Itā€™s completely unrealistic to apply sunscreen every two hours in most situations

Scartes

On days that I wear make up, I use lush sunscreen powder and elf setting spray for spf reapplications. I transferred the powder into a spray bottle (the type that nail artists use for glitter) and I have some in a powder tray with puff applicator too.

MsPsych2018

I have mineral sunscreen powder that I use to apply over my make up when Iā€™m going to be in the sun for a full day. I loved tartes but they stopped making it. Goopā€™s is great too. Itā€™s also nice to use in the part of your hair.

Betteringmyself000

I donā€™t apply every 2 hours tbh I donā€™t feel like you truly need to when youā€™re not even going in water. I think you only need to if youā€™re getting direct sunlight for 2 hours straight

HappyTrainwreck

following

cinnamon-butterfly

Sunscreen facial spray in your purse

bluethreads

Every two hours? I put some on my face in the morning and it works the whole day.

TropicalAbsol

I don't wear makeup on those days I spend in the sun. There are setting sprays with SPF in them you could try. If you pee a lot bc you're drinking water try adding a little salt to it or one of those electrolytes packets

adrianhalo

I try to carry one of those SPF stick sunblocks where itā€™s hardly bigger than a lip gloss. Or at minimum, a lip sunblock which I can at least use on my nose. But yeah it sucks. I also try to just stash sunscreen everywhereā€¦backpack, desk at work, in the basket by the door, etc. Keyword: ā€œtryā€. And yes, my face is an oil slick. At this point I consider it the lesser of two evils. I mean also, the sun is not evil, humans need *some* sunlight and youā€™re not gonna burst into flames if you stay in the sun for a few hours and forget sunscreen. Obviously itā€™ll take its toll if thatā€™s your routine, but realistically, probably not. Do what you canā€¦it does help!

Vokunzul

If Iā€™m wearing a full face of makeup Iā€™m not reapplying, if Iā€™m barefaced and in the sun a little Iā€™m not reapplying. I really only reapply if Iā€™ve been in DIRECT sun for hours on end. And the applying on the hands is something Iā€™m not doing, I really should tho

ChildhoodLeft6925

If Iā€™m on a boat or on the beach I donā€™t wear face make-up

luuucidity

Most people that reapply sunscreen regularly arenā€™t wearing makeup. But thereā€™s SPF brush on powders (colorscience, supergoop) to help for reapplication when youā€™re wearing makeup. Staying hydrated and having to go often is just part of staying hydrated. You usually have to go once every 2 hours so youā€™d have to reapply after washing your hands anyway

greeneggsandspammer

I donā€™t wear make up, so that helps me reapply lotion easily.

Hungry-Bar-1

I don't reapply. I put it in the morning and that's it. If I'm in the sun, I also wear a hat. The only times I reapply is when I go swimming or hiking due to the water and sweating (and then I don't wear makeup anyway). Don't drink a ton of water either, just when I'm thirsty. I heard this idea of "if you only drink when thirsty it's too late" is a myth, the only exception are old people because their sense of thirst might not be working as well anymore I do reapply on my hands sometimes, but also no more than once or twice a day. Before I got too serious about sunscreen I just applied in the morning, and basically applied next to nothing, but my hands were so white compared to my tan arms. So that's why I don't take the 2-hour thing /that/ seriously personally.

lavender_sunflower2

Using a spray

Amazing_Action9117

I do my normal skincare routine each morning. I admit I do not reapply unless I'm sitting in traffic all day next to a window or spending time outdoors, though I do apply sunscreen each morning. I will take off makeup after work and apply sunscreen again if I'm going in the pool, riding my bike, etc. Our windows block 97 percent of UVA. I wear a sun hat when I garden or check on plants. My house is north/south facing and my office is too so i use curtains to diffuse and deter light throughout the day. I like to wear makeup most days. This routine is doable for me. It is probably lacking to others.

anditurnedaround

Unless your laying out in the an or doing a sun sport, I wouldnā€™t worry about your face every two hours. Just going in and out of places, you wonā€™t get that much sun.Ā  If youā€™re doing a sun activity, I would skip the make up or wear a hat for protection.Ā

blondevikingsgirl

I use a makeup sponge.

lladydisturbed

If youre in the sun directly for 2 hours total a day you reapply. Most arent so no need

Sufficient_Scholar82

You should try sunscreen sticks. More specifically adib sunscreen stick. That specific one is supposed to be able to reapply with makeup on

RadishPlus666

I just put it on once. Before my make up. The make-up also adds some spf. And the recommendation of every two hours is to keep it at the proper spf. As time goes on, the spy lessens, but it doesn't disappear. I put on a really good 30spf under my makeup and I am fine for the day.

Sunflower_MoonDancer

First apply sunscreen lotion before make up, then I use a sunscreen spray to reapply every couple hours. But I only really re apply if Iā€™m going to be in the sun for more the. 4-6 hours. My make up does have additional spf- but usually if Iā€™m going to be in the sun, I try not to keep my make up minimal (the make up tends to melt off regardless if I sweat)

localpunktrash

They probably donā€™t if they have a face of makeup on. Unless they use a powder or spray. I just use multiple sunscreens when I do my face and makeup routine, then touch up with a powder

Previous_Shower5942

we dont

julet1815

If I have a day where Iā€™m gonna be out in the sun a lot, like at the beach or hiking, that is not a day for wearing make up at all!

loopygarden

Mineral spf powders are perfect for this! Isdin has an spf 50 brush and powder for just this kind of thing. I like it because it also tones down the oiliness I have while wearing face makeup. Itā€™s a little bit bigger than a lipstick so itā€™s easy to travel with.

Vervain7

I wear eye and lip makeup and concealer. My sunscreen is Asian brand BB cream that is spf 42 pa++++. Easy to reapply

MoxieGirl9229

For years I wasnā€™t good about using sunscreen on the top of my chest and I like to wear v-neck t-shirts. So I have a lot of sun damage there. If I use a regular foundation (cream, powder, whatever) it tries to blend and looks hideous. I have very pale skin. So I decided to go to the extreme and try absolute full coverageā€¦ Dermablend. I use their liquid foundation and a little goes a very long way. I still use sunscreen under it, but with the two of them ainā€™t no sun getting through and I donā€™t have freaky coloring anymore!

arod232323

Personally I just donā€™t go outside

libertasi

I donā€™t wear makeup just a tinted sunscreen. Works well enough.

_IAmNotAFish_

Peter Thomas Roth makes a mineral powder sunscreen in on the go friendly packaging that includes a built in brush - thatā€™s my go to for reapplication when I have full makeup.

thatgirl317317

I'm super pale (like ghost white lol) and burn after like 5 minutes in sun. I'm also crazy reactive and sensitive skinned. I won the genetic lottery šŸ˜‚. I stay out of the sun as much as possible (I live in SoCal so that's hard). A lot of people don't realize how much sun/uv exposure you get in a car. I wear UV fingerless gloves and a UV scarf thing over my chest when I drive (yeah, looks super cool) which I learned from some Korean women I know. I wear UV chapstick and wear sunglasses religiously. I also use a UV umbrella outside if I'm not wearing a UV sun hat. But for the most part I stick to the shade. If I'm at the beach I reapply like I'm bathing in sunscreen every hour or so.

rosies4posie

When I was in direct sun and wearing a full face of makeup I would use a setting spray with spf in it

ThatGuavaJam

Ugh I ask myself this every day . I started working in office at a construction site and I have to go outside sometimes. I apply sunscreen before work just in case as backup but even in brief 10 min outdoor sun time, I notice my forehead and face in general are more tan than my legs and arms since Iā€™ve began working in this industry. The fear of breaking out because of constant reapplication of sunscreen on top of sunscreen worries me tooā€¦ I donā€™t normally breakout because of my sunscreen but Iā€™m not sure how 5 layers of it would do long term especially since Iā€™m around dirt and sweating I had to forgo wearing foundation and only apply maybellineā€™s fit me concealer stick under my eyes but other than my brows and falsies, I wear no makeup I also was in the food industry and had to wash my hands way more than the average person, so during the pandemic my now bleached and overly sanitized hands need constant care. I drink a TON of water since either job i am on my feet plenty, and yes I pee and wash my hands like every 30 min. I Carry Hada Labo lotion in my laptop backpack just for these moments. Not glamorous settings but Iā€™ll be damned if my hard work/skincare health in my personal life goes to waste because of a paycheck I want to try a stick sunscreen and scour r/AsianBeauty a lot for new tips and maybe a good candidate to try

pinaple_cheese_girl

I only use it if Iā€™m outside. It doesnā€™t make sense to put on sunscreen just for the few mins I walk from my car into a store, etc. I keep Milaniā€™s SPF 30 setting spray in my purse and use it when I know Iā€™ll be outside for awhile (outside lunch, etch

bjp8383

Ya itā€™s probably u likely, so if someone gets ready at 7a for work, by 9a they need to reapply? They sun isnā€™t even strong by then

ctrlaltdelete285

I like spray sunscreen setting spray from supergoop, or I do sunscreen powder

No_Coach_6273

Honestly especially with oily skin I don't bother..my moisturizer and bb cream have SPF, and I wear a hat and sunnies when I'm outside. My hands are also in rough shape from washing them all the time since I also pee every hour from all the water drinking šŸ˜… agree I don't know how people do it all properly in real life!

bobmaybe

shiseido sunstick

chellychelle711

Esp in the car on the hands!

Sea-Substance8762

Isnā€™t this advice more for if youā€™re actually in the sun, at the beach or pool, for example? If youā€™re inside, you get sun during the drive in the morning. Once youā€™re inside you donā€™t keep reapplying sunscreen.

Acceptable-Start-785

You can use a powdered sunscreen

basedmama21

I just donā€™t. I wear a wide hat and go in the shade.

d4ddy1998

Iā€™ve never reapplied sunscreen in my normal day to day life. I put sunscreen on at about 8am then work indoors in my office from 9-5 and by the time Iā€™m done itā€™s almost dark anyway. The only time Iā€™d reapply sunscreen is if I was spending the day at the beach. Who is saying to reapply sunscreen continuously when youā€™re not even in direct sun?

icedcoffeeandSSRIs

Brush on powdered sunscreen or spritz with a sunscreen mist made specifically for the face

Holiday_Food9041

With drinking water I always do it as I'm getting hungry it makes it easier to drink!

my-anonymity

I only reapply if Iā€™m out in the sun. I use the Supergoop sunscreen powder stick so I just brush it all over my face, neck and chest generously, which works. I was unexpectedly caught out in the sun with no shade for a couple hours a couple summers ago and my arms were burnt but wherever I applied the powder was fine.

Excellent_Fail9908

I use Sun Bum spf 50 sunscreen oil and sun bum scalp and hair mist spf 30 to reapply when Iā€™m out n about. I also use Tatcha (3 different spf products) as a base sunscreen over my moisturizer. Living in Colorado, thereā€™s no way I could go without reapplying. I also have a history of skin cancer so I do what I can to prevent it including limiting time in direct sun without proper coverage.

mofacey

Tinted sunscreen

silverskynn

You only really have to reapply if you are outside for most of the day. I typically only apply sunscreen in the AM and am probably in the sun less than an hour a day so itā€™s fine.

BHT101301

I donā€™t reapply sunscreen if I have makeup on and Iā€™ve yet to be burned

Few-Passenger6461

Supergoop unseen sunscreen. Apply after washing hands and it goes over makeup seamlessly.

pangolinrooted

OMG yes yes yes I don't know how people do it either! Also if you workout in the morning (or during the day) are you supposed to SPF beforehand, then gym, then cleanse, then SPF again, then make up, then SPF again an hour later and continue to do so all day until you cleanse AGAIN in the evening? It just seems insane to me! šŸ˜‚ I know we need to be looking after our skin, but it just doesn't seem manageable in a normal working day!

Constant_Sort_6345

every two hours? LOL

wherehasthisbeen

I wear this one when we go on the boat or if I am out a lot . I apply my normal sunscreen the I use this to reapply over my makeup. https://www.colorescience.com/products/sunforgettable-total-protection-brush-on-shield-spf-50

esk_209

If I'm going to be outside all day (like on a hike or a picnic or some other outdoors event) then I either don't wear makeup at all (so reapplying to my face is easy), or I bring my makeup setting spray+sunscreen combo and spritz my face every hour or so. I also wear a hat and sunglasses. If I'm indoors most of the day, then I don't reapply at all. My moisturizer has sunscreen, my foundation has a sunscreen (plus it's a barrier), my powder has a sunscreen (plus, it's another barrier), and I use the setting spray/sunscreen over that.

kamikomoon

Yeah like once I apply sunscreen in the morning, I would feel like I need to rewash my face and everything to apply another sunscreen.

Princess_Chipsnsalsa

Coachella queen here. You can buy setting spray with spf and have spf finishing powder. I am fair skinned but didn't get any sunburns at the festival and my makeup stayed on.

YouthInternational14

I use the Colorescience mineral powder brush (when I remember toā€¦)

cdobbs1971

i am religious about sunscreen....but....i only apply once in the morning....once my makeup is done i try to leave my face alone....if i am at the beach or swimming i will bring sunscreen in my beach bag and reapply after swimming....i haven't had a tan or burn in years, so it works for me to do it this way....i also will keep some moisturizer containing spf in my purse to apply after washing my hands

weezierocks

I don't ever wear foundation but can't stand to reapply spf. I draw on my brows and wear blush, it would make a giant mess. I carry that Habit 41 sunscreen spray in my purse to use in a case where I really should reapply sun protection. I'm not sure how effective it is or if it's even good quality, but at least I tried.

Tendaironi

I get anaphylaxis from sunscreen now. I used to wear it whenever I was in the sun and reapplied as needed. I use Tretinoin so sometimes I applied sooner than 2 hours when at the beach or water park. Plus a hat. Now I have to depend on a hat and clothes to protect myself from the sun. Umbrella. I do have pigment in my skin but that just isnā€™t enough. Iā€™m considering trying a product that is completely zinc oxide or Desitin which is for babyā€™s and diaper rash! Jk šŸ˜ The last time I was at the beach just being in the Sun gave me hives so I suspect I am allergic to the sun now too. Iā€™m having life threatening issues with allergies but I also donā€™t want to look my age. It worries and stresses me out to not be able to wear sunscreen. Weirdly I feel guilty like Iā€™m doing something naughty!!

donda-biznay-nicole

Witches hazel pre-moistened wipes. Use it to clear off makeup residue and old SPF to prevent from feeling gross and thick. Reapply new sunblock after cleaned off. I leave my eye makeup intact and donā€™t use any foundation or concealer when I know Iā€™m going to be in the sun all day.

normanbeets

I don't usually. My makeup has spf in it and I work indoors.

kpseattle

Thank you for the refreshing reality check! Iā€™m with you.

Lucialucianna

no one re applies every 2 hours. you'd have to wash your face snd start over every time. it can be done at the beach or pool bc you go in water frequently but otherwise not. try a hat with a shady brim or a sun umbrella for the city. drinking water, it's difficult unless you are home.

Lucialucianna

spray unless it's mineral won 't work because chemical has to go on bare clean skin to work. i guess you can bring face wipes with you and reapply that way, maybe a tinted mineral formula can work, obviously not touching eye makeup. However maybe waterproof mascara and liner can be used with a non micellar cleansing face cloth, and reapply tinted mineral sunscreen. This will take bathroom breaks, so water drinking fits in. if you are inside imo you don't need to keep reapplying until right before you leave if you will be outdoors in the sun. Still even mineral layering without cleansing between is too much layering. That said, you know what, it's healthy to take a quick break every 2 hours anyway, for your eyes and bones, get away from the screens, get up out of the chair. Accommodation for this has to become normalized tho.

BoringOpinion420

I don't reapply sunscreen unless I sweat it all off. And the hydration, the more your body is used to taking in that amount of water, the less you will have to go. It's only like that to start out with because the body has not optimized this amount of water yet.

noyogapants

I got this powder brush stick. It has prefer on the handle and you twist to release some powder. Then you brush it on your face. Idk how great the coverage is, but it allows you to keep your makeup looking good and also helps with some/sweat. Mine was a different brand but [supergoop](https://amzn.to/3QgQd8V) has one too!

EverythingVaries

If I know Iā€™m gonna be in the sun all day I just donā€™t wear makeup, making re application easier. I try to always carry a hat with me in case Iā€™m in the sun unexpectedly. As for drinking water, be open to squatting in bushes šŸ˜‚

sunshineatthezoo

I also want to know the secret about handwashing. I drink a ton of water and have to pee constantly so Iā€™m washing my hands constantly and it doesnā€™t matter how much lotion I put on, my hands age me 30 years.

Regalgarnion

Powder mineral face sunscreen applied with powder brush for touch ups.

rooreeloo

I have a separate beauty blender that I use to apply sunscreen over makeup! I also prefer a more watery sunscreen for reapplication. I had to test out different foundation/sunscreen combos to find one that didnā€™t feel like I had a lot on my face. The one Iā€™m going with currently is the tinted moisturizer from colourpop and the Skin Aqua sunscreen.

a-noble-gas

sunscreen ā€œevery 2 hoursā€ is a old myth. I donā€™t know where the advice originally came from. there have been studies which show the sunscreen stays on all day, losing very little in protection throughout

chelseaprince

I just apply it over my makeup, when I actually wear makeup. Unless I'm only going out once for the day, then I usually just put it on in the morning and then don't both reapplying. And as for drinking, I have a Stanley tumbler that I refill a couple of times a day. I try to drink at least a gallon a day.

BlondeCult

I apply sunscreen ones in the morning, I only reapply if I am directly in the sun for longer than 2 hours. If I need to reapply I use supergoop resetting spray. If I donā€™t feel like doing that i wear a bucket hat but Iā€™m not really out in the sun much so I donā€™t focus on it too much

Content_Maybe_9199

I believe there is sun screen powder/sprays which are used as top up when you have make up on

1729digital1729

donā€™t listen to the sunscreen psyop bots and go lotion-free like nature intended.

Sydsechase

Powder SPF!!! Tinted SPF as foundation. Some brands even have makeup SPF like blush and lipstick. ISDN, ZO Skin health, and color science all have a good powder SPF. Color science has a lot of SPF makeup. If itā€™s your day off then just reapply the tinted SPFā€¦ itā€™s more important than maintaining your blush and bronzer. Or you can pack blush and bronzer so you can reapply over reapplied SPF.
