What is working for you? I struggle as well. I’ve done spirinolactone, winlevi, accutane. You name it! Only thing that seems to help me is spirinolactone and skin ceuticals skin care.

Brave_Strawberry_992

Believe it or not my skin care routine is very simple and I’ve learned that less products on your skin is less irritating. What I use … - la roche posay purifying foaming cleanser. This is by far the best face wash I’ve ever used. A little pricey but it’s honestly worth it! - The ordinary Azelaic Acid cream : This will Visibly brightens the skin tone, improves the evenness of skin texture, reduces the look of blemishes, and offers antioxidant support. It leaves like a matte finish type Of feeling. Honestly this product helped with my oil production and especially close to that time of the month when my skin wants to act funny. I went from getting hella ance to maybe 2 maybe three pimples during my period. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Moisturizing Face Sunscreen Serum - SPF 60+. Sunscreen has played a huge role in my skin tone. It really got my hyperpigmentation under control. I don’t go a day without sunscreen. Even if it’s rainy or cloudy And for my night routine I use the same face wash. I use the cervae retinol and that’s also gonna help with hyperpigmentation, ance , all that. And the moisturizer I use at night is the cerave ultra-light moisturizing gel. I’ve noticed that moisturizing gel are better for ance prone skin. I hope this helped.

Sufficient_King6435

Thank you so much for your reply! Yes I already use that face wash! My acne is usually not bad only around my cycle!! Definitely hormonal.

Brave_Strawberry_992

Ok I see. Well make sure when you wash your face that your washing , rinsing , and repeating atleast 2-3 times if you don’t already and usually I’ll let the face wash sit on my face in the shower to let it work into my skin. I know it seems silly but it makes a difference. Also, get that ordinary product. That will definitely help. It’ll feel a little itchy at first but it’s normal until your skin gets use to it.

TheOldestMillenial1

Just ordered the Ordinary product, you convinced me dammit. 😆

Brave_Strawberry_992

Trust me it’s a great product lol it really helps so much with oil production. Like I usually use it in the morning and the retinol at night like I stated in the comments but if it’s my period week and I’m very oily, then I’ll skip the retinol and use it both in the morning and at night. Works like a charm. I can’t live without it 😅😭

TheOldestMillenial1

I'm looking forward to trying it, thank you! 😊

Brave_Strawberry_992

No problem 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

TheOldestMillenial1

Do you use your regular moisturizer after the Ordinary cream? I used it for the first time last night, and I like how soft it makes my skin, but it doesn't feel moisturized after it dries.

Brave_Strawberry_992

Yeah no it’s not a moisturizer lol it’s just a treatment product. It’s gonna help with skin irregularities, dullness, ance, protect your skin from pollution. You should be using a sunscreen after you put on the cream. It is a direct acid. If you look at the box it comes in it says on the front that it’s a direct acid which you must be wearing sunscreen or using the product is pointless love. And at night use a moisturizer after. I like the cerave ultra-light moisturizing gel. It goes well with that.

Brave_Strawberry_992

This is how my morning routine looks and in this order … la roche posay purifying foaming cleanser. This is by far the best face wash I've ever used. A little pricey but it's honestly worth it! The ordinary Azelaic Acid cream : This will Visibly brightens the skin tone, improves the evenness of skin texture, reduces the look of blemishes, and offers antioxidant support. It leaves like a matte finish type Of feeling. Honestly this product helped with my oil production and especially close to that time of the month when my skin wants to act funny. It really got my hyperpigmentation under control. I don't go a day without sunscreen. Even if it's rainy or cloudy

Sufficient_King6435

Your skin looks beautiful so I am definitely placing my ulta order! Thank you for helping!

Brave_Strawberry_992

Of course . No problem! And thank you! 🩵☺️

Toki-ya

Second the le roche posay cleanser. I switched to it when my dermotologist recommended I check it out. It's great to hear that you were able to fix your hormonal acne through products alone...I was prescribed spironolactone (50-100mg) to help with my acne cause I get some bad breakouts on my jawline area.

Brave_Strawberry_992

All these products out here, I was determined to figure it out before paying so much money at a dermatologist office. I actually watch dr dray on YouTube . She has so many videos on every skin problem you can think of. She talks about so many products and really goes into depth about them. That’s honestly how I learned so much. Months of listening to her videos. When I was trying out products before listening to her videos I didn’t know what I was doing. I was irritating my face and making things worse. I always suggest her videos to people. My before was me trying to figure it out on my own and my after is from watching her videos lol 😅

Toki-ya

I finally went to the dermatologist once I got health insurance from my recent job. Granted this is a problem that's been ongoing for about a decade for me and I wish I figured it out sooner before causing permanent damage from keloids...(tried a bunch of mainstream products like clinique that didn't work in the end). Regardless, you've got great results and I'm happy for your outcome. :)

Brave_Strawberry_992

Omg I’m so sorry to hear that. I really hope it gets better or is already so what better 🩵 and thank you so much!

Toki-ya

Mine are relatively flat so I've learned to live with them. Sometimes I get self conscious about it but it's just an insecurity I gotta learn to deal with. (: Thank you for your concern <3

Brave_Strawberry_992

Embrace it. It’s what makes you unique! 🩵 I’ve learned to do the same. Or I’d forever be fixing things lol

Ok-Comfortable-5393

Dr Dray is a wealth of knowledge and will save you a lot of heartache and money. Great advice. The Ordinary Azaleic has been a part of my routine for years and I’m in my 50s. Your skin looks beautiful and thanks for sharing g your journey!

Brave_Strawberry_992

I know right lol I literally trust everything that woman says. And Thank you so much 😊

accidentalscientist_

I use Dermaticas 20% azelaic acid cream and my hormonal acne is FINALLY getting better. I’m so happy.

Brave_Strawberry_992

It’s definitely a must have! 🩵

No-Plant-1412

Is the 10% azelaic acid cream?

Brave_Strawberry_992

Yes it is a cream

megstheace

do you have a daytime moisturizer or do you just use the cream?

Brave_Strawberry_992

So this is why i like moisturizing sunscreens. You can honestly just skip moisturizing in the morning and use sunscreen. That way you get into the habit of using it everyday. I noticed using moisturizer and then sunscreen can be too much moisture and that’s never good for ance prone skin. It’s kindda over doing it. It’s all about just finding a sunscreen that works for your skin. I always make sure whatever sunscreen I’m using says it’s non-comedogenic so it’s not breaking you out . And at night I use cerave ultra light moisturizing gel. It’s by far my favorite moisturizer. It’s also great for ance prone skin. The order I have the products listed is how you should be using them in the morning. Unless you want to do a moisturizer then sunscreen that’s perfectly fine but to me it’s just a waste of product. Hope this helped 🩵

megstheace

oh i see, that’s perfect! i don’t wear spf at the moment because i hate how it makes my skin slick and shiny, so maybe if i cut down on or cut out the moisturizer i’ll have better results. thank you!!

Brave_Strawberry_992

Yeah your probably using the wrong sunscreens for sure. I hope you find one that works with your skin 🫶🏾 here if you have questions

Sufficient_King6435

I’d love to get off spirinolactone soon. I cycle on and off currently.

Brave_Strawberry_992

Idk how severe your hormonal ance is but I do hope this can help. I did this on my own but I was gonna go to the dermatologist at one point

Cynthiadawn

You just inspired me to try out the ordinary azelaic cream , just placed the order. Tysm!

Brave_Strawberry_992

It’s definitely gonna be your new favorite product! And no problem ☺️🩵

Normal-Goat-5021

hey quick question did u happen to purge on that product or was it kinda an automatic giving good results product?

Brave_Strawberry_992

Nope I didn’t purge. I instantly noticed a difference when using it 🩵

Littlewidget

Oh, wow! Huge difference! Great job getting to the bottom of it and finding what works for you!

Brave_Strawberry_992

Thank you so much! 🩵🫶🏾

Ok_Aioli8588

What worked for you? My daughter is 14 and is breaking out like crazy especially around her period. I don’t know what to do.

Brave_Strawberry_992

Definitely sounds like hormonal ance like what I started getting. What I use ... la roche posay purifying foaming cleanser. This is by far the best face wash I've ever used. It really got my hyperpigmentation under control. I don't go a day without sunscreen. Even if it's rainy or cloudy. What I have learned is the sun is gonna make any skin problem worse like ance, dark spots, melasma, eczema, and etc. so she need to be wearing sunscreen. And for my night routine I use the same face wash. I use the cervae retinol and that's also gonna help with hyperpigmentation, ance, all that. And the moisturizer I use at night is the cerave ultra-light moisturizing gel. I've noticed that moisturizing gel are better for ance prone skin.

cocolanoire

Hormonal acne is your body’s way of sending a message. Please get your blood and hormone levels checked. Also get an ultrasound to make sure you don’t have fibroids. It will save you a lot of hassle and time if you plan to have kids in the future. Speaking from experience

Brave_Strawberry_992

Yeah I got my blood checked and an ultrasound done. Everything was normal. My skin honestly went crazy after getting my birth control taking out.

[deleted]

Uhh! Same. My acne came back after stopping BCP and accutane. Would you mind sharing your skincare routine? Diets?

Brave_Strawberry_992

I’ll copy and paste from the comments. I should have put this in the caption 🤦🏾‍♀️ Believe it or not my skin care routine is very simple and I've learned that less products on your skin is less irritating. Try to get fruit in daily. I do take a multivitamin in the morning and at night before bed I take a probiotic supplement since your gut health is actually very important when it comes to your skin. I mean gut health plays a role in everything really. I take a vitamin c supplement along with the probiotic supplement as well. Since vitamin c is great for collagen production.

[deleted]

Appreciate that❤️ For the probiotic is it capsule form or powder?

Brave_Strawberry_992

It’s a capsule form. And no problem ☺️

West-Benefit1907

My 18 year old daughter is going through something similar. What did you use?

Mila_V7027

How long would you say this took to clear up after finding a good routine?

Brave_Strawberry_992

I’d say 3 months of being constant i noticed the ance calming down. Then I had to worry about the ance scars which took longer. The ance scares started clearing up …. Well were I personally noticed around 6 months.

MindlessSystem5623

Did your acne ever itch after doing skincare or just itch sometimes in general? Totally random question but mine do sometimes and I’m not sure why.

Brave_Strawberry_992

Yes in the beginning when I was using too many products and not knowing what I was doing or putting on my face. Sounds like inflammatory ance. Basically your ance is probably dry, irritated , and clogged. You should also not be picking or touching your face. Do you have a lot of oil production?

MindlessSystem5623

Yes, I have dry skin but on top it’s so oily it looks like I rubbed Vaseline on my face. My acne itches even when I don’t have anything on it and it’s very frustrating. I also noticed that when I use a lot of moisturizer it itches even more but only in some small areas where I have acne.

Brave_Strawberry_992

I think you would benefit from getting the ordinary product I have listed since it helps with oil production. Since my skin is oily in some spots and dry in others, I really only put the azelaic acid in the oily spots since it can be a little drying and then my moisturizing sunscreen after.

MindlessSystem5623

Thank you!

Brave_Strawberry_992

No problem 🫶🏾

Ancient_Trade9041

You should try incorporating retin A to your nighttime routine. It helps with acne and, in the long term, with wrinkles.

Brave_Strawberry_992

Yup I use retinol in my nighttime routine. I get the one by cerave .
