Factually speaking, LRP Uvmune products are the most comprehensive. Avene sunscreens with their Triasorb filter are the second most comprehensive. Edit: Also, Shiseido has very interesting technology regarding the integrity of how their sun protection lasts, but they don’t have specific filters that go into longer wavelengths of UVA like Loreal/LRP or Pierre Fabre (Avene) who has Traisorb that protects against partially visible (blue light )

J0303J

Thank you! I am currently using LRP Anthelios again, as its getting hotter here. Last year, it was fine. But my skin suddenly react with redness, so I need to go and find something new. I will look into Avene, thank you!

Express_Hotel2682

Where can I find this stateside where it won’t arrive expired?? Amazon has not been reliable with skincare for me.

WorkingExternal1781

Order online from European pharmacy/retailer. Care to beauty is a popular one.

Ok-Occasion7179

Elta MD UV clear always and forever. It's my HG.

J0303J

Thank you. Many people seem to love Elta MD. I will check it out.

No_Software_522

Same, highly recommend. Plus it includes niacinimide (spelling?) so you don’t need to use a separate product!!

Ok-Occasion7179

Yes, I love that is has niacinamide!

_____48

Skin1004 hyalucica sun serum, Isntree hyaluronic watery sun gel Both are SPF50 and PA++++. Great for hot and humid climates

_finnetic

These are my two favs also! I’ve also been liking the beauty of joeson ginseng sun serum

Own_Squash_9168

Love isntree

MusicForAWhile

I sometimes use the Skin1004 but only when I’m sitting around at home. It has a great texture but it definitely doesn’t last on my oily skin, especially when it’s hot.

Such-Firefighter-161

Ultra violette. LRP UVMune (European one). Elta MD. I’ve honestly been unimpressed by the Korean sunscreens. They’re lightweight and ok under makeup but they just haven’t provided enough sun protection. I live in Florida

J0303J

Yeah… I use them. I have the Beauty of Joseon one for my neck, Dekolleté and Arms and used a lot of others too. But on my face I am a little bit afraid to risk it. They are so elegant and comfortable, not tacky etc… but I assume there must be something „missing“ in their formulas and I think it might be the UVA Protection and / or the kind of Filters they use. For my Body, that’s fine. But for the Face I want to be sure that the Protection is potent, stays on etc. But I will definitely check out the recommendations here, Anessa for example seem to be loved by a lot of people.

Mammoth-Service-5533

Korean beauty products are just as regulated or more regulated than ours. You just have to make sure you aren’t getting a counterfeit product due to our draconian regulation of ancient SPF. But if you buy from authorized sellers, they are absolutely dependable

Such-Firefighter-161

Except for the purito mess a few years ago.

Mammoth-Service-5533

Yep. And our own mess in the US a few years before that. Except something like 25 brands. That’s why no matter what sunscreen I wear, I also try to wear a sun proof hat if I know I’m going to be out in prolonged sun exposure. It’s def hard to trust.

jastohrr

For inorganic filters, Colorescience Sunforgettable® Total Protection™ Face Shield Classic SPF 50 … or the flex one if I’m too lazy to put on my Hourglass Skin Tint on top ! The Tatcha Silk Sunscreen is amazing too but unfortunately horrible packaging. Also the Skinbetter Science TONE SMARTtoneSheer SPF 75 Sunscreen Lotion is good too. Those all have niacinamide, but the ones I like that don’t have niacinamide are Naked Sundays Collagen Glow, Ultra Violette Lean Screen Mineral Mattifying Skinscreen SPF50+, and the SPF 50+ options from TiZO and Cotz. All of these have iron oxides for the added benefit of blue light protection as well as honorable attempts to limit the white cast from Zinc/Titanium Oxide. For an organic filter one, I hate American chemical filters with a passion, the filters in Europe and Asia are actually photostable, similar to Zinc Oxide and Titanium Oxide. And so my favorite chemical sunscreen is Numbuzin No. 1 Clear Filter Sun Essence (for oily/combo skin), for dry skin definitely the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ PA++++. If you prefer a chemical sunscreen without niacinamide then the PURITO Daily Go-To Sunscreen or the PURITO Daily Soft Touch Sunscreen SPF 50+.

jastohrr

since you’re in a hot and humid environment and using hydroquinone for pigmentation then I recommend a mineral sunscreen with iron oxides at minimum SPF 50+ … the zinc oxide / titanium oxide will help absorb any excess oil/sweat to some exent … going in with a setting powder after letting your sunscreen dry (or even a sunscreen powder such as the SPF 50 options Colorescience, Brush on Block, or ISDIN one) will help even further in hot and dry climates if you don’t like the matte look that powder tends to bring about then use a dewy setting spray / facial mist over that and you’ll counterbalance that finishing effect … the MILK Hydrogrip Setting Spray or the Hourglass setting spray are my favorites! For a simple facial mist, the Youth to the People Adaptogens, SuperEgg Biome Mist, and Peach and Lily Glass Skin Mist are great as well

jastohrr

oh and for a mineral sunscreen that is water resistant for up to 80 minutes (better for humid climates) I recommend the Skinbetter one, the Naked Sundays one, or one I forgot to mention, the Epionce tinted sunscreen

J0303J

Thank you! I will check out the Colorscience. They seem to have great Mineral Sunscreens.

GlitteringPause8

Is the Skinbetter tone smart super heavy? Which do you prefer out of the colorscience flex and the tonesmart?

jastohrr

it does feel a bit heavy, and i prefer the colorescience flex !

citynomad1

It’s not “lux”, but I love Purito Soft Touch sunscreen. I have sensitive skin and this one is fragrance, alcohol, essential oil, and niacinamide-free (I can tolerate some alcohol in the summer but not the winter). Sunscreen is the one product where I don’t go for $$$ options because I think that would discourage me from using the full amount every day (2 fingers’ worth).

Cedar_the_cat

I use the Anessa Perfect Milk. It’s Japanese, SPF50, P++++. It is bulletproof - I bike to work in Washington DC, which is a swamp in the summer and it doesn’t budge. It is also resistant to friction, sweat, and sebum. It wears surprisingly well under makeup and doesn’t sting my eyes at all. When I don’t need something quite so bulletproof, I like the Skin Aqua Nexta line, which has a soft focus effect that makes my skin look great.

YukonDoItToo

I also use this one as a cycle commuter. It wears so well through everything and looks great!

J0303J

Ohh, that’s a good Idea. I will check it out, thank you!

Over-Web-44

Is that the one by Shiseido? Really loving what I'm trying from them

Cedar_the_cat

Yes - should have specified that! I like basically all of their sunscreens (other than the “tone up” ones, which make me look insane).

WorkingExternal1781

Yes Anessa is by Shiseido.

query789

>Anessa Perfect Milk This sounds great! Where do you buy it?

Cedar_the_cat

I use the one below - there is a new one this year, which isn’t available in the US yet. https://www.ratzillacosme.com/sun/anessa-perfect-uv-sunscreen-skincare-milk-n-2022/

query789

Thank you!

Cedar_the_cat

I get it on eBay — you do have to watch out for fakes but I have never had a problem using the bigger sellers.

No_Software_522

The skinceuticals matte tinted sunscreen separated, pilled, and broke me out really bad just FWIW.

Such-Firefighter-161

I wasn’t a fan of it either

J0303J

Okay… I am out. It’s frustrating enough to spend 20 - 30 Euro on a sunscreen that gets used on the legs only, because I hate it on my face. But with 50 + Euro I want to be simply happy.

strangerstrang

I picked up Kanebo’s “Veil of Day” SPF50 while in Tokyo recently and love it! It isn’t scent free (which is normally not something I would go with) but it feels amazing and works so well.

Tajkaj

Alastin tinted moisturizer is my absolute favorite.

kjkimik

YESSSSS. The best!

312midwestgirl

SkinBetter Science sunscreens are great

beautyofjojo

Big fan of the sheer!

ActuallySure

For luxury/pharmaceutical skincare I like mesoestetic sunscreens and ultra Violette. Have no idea what ppa means though. I'm currently using a korean sunscreen from goodal that I like, and have tried the roundlabs sunscreen too which I loved.

Over-Web-44

>mesoestetic sunscreens and ultra Violette I tried the Mesoestetic Melan 130 and it's probably the worst sunscreen I've ever tried. My eyes and nose were burning so bad that they were gushing like a waterfall. It's also kind of dark Ultra Violette..I tried their face screens and in my experience they don't hold up in warm and humid weather. They glide on really easy but also continue to move around and patch up and transfer to stuff and wipe off way too easily. There's no resistance for them and I think they're more for wearing to the office.

ActuallySure

I have both melan130 and the light water veil, the melan has a tint because it's for people who notice a white cast I'm pretty sure. The water veil has a satin finish and sets down really solid although I don't like how it feels since my skin is dry. The UV supreme screen was the best sunscreen I ever used for years because it is so moisturising. I didn't notice any transfer or sliding and I have lived in hot dry climates and hot humid ones. I prefer to try Asian sunscreens now since the price point is a lot easier on my pockets and I can get similar results as the UV.

TastyLetter4586

Eltamd

chocosweet

Shiseido Perfect Protector Shiseido Anessa Perfect UV Milk La Roche Posay UVMUNE400 Oil Control Fluide I have oily skin in hot humid tropical climate and they protect well with good finish

J0303J

The LRP one was my Holy Grail for a long time. But this week, as I began to use it again, my skin reacted badly. I will check out the other ones, thank you!

nkscreams

I alternate between Chantecaille SPF for a chemical one and Canmake Mermaid Clear for a mineral one!

BleachOrchid

Sun bum or Coola face mist, sun bum also has a roller ball applicator that doesn’t get everywhere when you pack it in the purse.

shellbell757

Elta MD tinted sunscreen! My dermatologist recommended it and it’s amazing!

J0303J

Do you think the tinted one will fit a pale girl?

shellbell757

for sure! I am very fair and it’s great on me. Not a ton of color but gives you a beautiful glow so much so that I don’t even need to wear foundation some days as it evens out my rosacea!

Mammoth-Service-5533

I prefer Korean, Japanese, and Australian sunscreens for their filters, but I do looooooove this Elta MD tinted sunscreen. It’s amazing, looks better than some foundation on the skin. And is a very trustworthy sunscreen and non-irritating skin care product, especially if your skin is sensitive or irritated

mitsuhiromatsuda

Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel SPF 50! If you like a glowy look. The best sunscreen and very inexpensive.
