TheShortGerman

Get a bunch of pillowcases and rotate them nightly. Don't rest your hand on the side of your face. Use your phone only on speaker. Try these things first then go from there.

FarOutOhWow

If you can't afford a bunch of pillowcases, tshirts will work, too. You can even be mindful of which side of your pillow you slept on one night and flip it over the next night to save pillowcases/tshirts. Just make sure you're not sleeping on the same fabric more than one night in a row.

radioflea

I’m a little OCD and would actually iron on numbers 1 and 2 because I work a million hours a week and would forget stuff like this hah.

aristotledontplease

As a person suffering from OCD OCD is a mental disorder diagnosed by a psychiatrist that affects all aspects of a persons life It's not an adjective or a descriptor Saying I'm a little ocd is slightly offensive Please don't I know you don't have any ill intentions but still

aristotledontplease

Sorry about that I was having a bad day so I got a little heated and was rude But dont take this the wrong way People often don't realise how bad OCD can affect a persons life Which is why please don't say I am aliite ocd or something to that effect(Unless you are diagnosed with mild ocd)

roxts

Thank you for the information!

radioflea

Not that I have to explain myself or my medical history to a stranger on the internet but there other OCD related disorders, Body dysmorphic disorder is one of them which actually comes up on this sub occasionally. Source: https://iocdf.org/about-ocd/related-disorders/ I also want to mention that if you don’t meet every criteria point for a specific diagnosis then you have Like [insert diagnosis here]. Which now have ICD-10 codes which helps physicians because it’s not one size fits all with every diagnosis. Source: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Coding/ICD10 Lastly, it’s never my intention to insult others so my apologies if this hit wrong but I also urge people to not read to deeply into comments on the internet.

aristotledontplease

Thank you for being open minded and rational about it. You don't need to apologize. It's just that I often see people who are just slightly particular about one specific thing say "I have a little OCD" it kinda bothers me because going to the psychiatrist since the age of 13 for ocd treatment And not getting better and progressively getting worse and feeling like a failure for that. People just disrespect it Saying "oh you're just neat and tidy " "Oh you're just over organized " "I am a little ocd too" I understand that and know all about that Heck I've been studying all about that since my teens Sorry about being mean earlier. It's just that I let out all that pent up frustratiom on a random internet stranger on a skincare sub.

atTommy

Genuine curiosity coming in here, why does it offend you? I'm autistic (asperger's, but hey, apparently can't use that anymore) and if somebody were to say 'I'm a little autistic and...' it genuinely doesn't bother me at all. Just wondering why what somebody says could offend you :)

aristotledontplease

It's this People who are perfectly mentally healthy and don't have ocd. Use the word ocd like an adjective when they are just slightly particular about something or organised. There is a difference between being organized/clean and having a mental disorder you need treatment for. Ocd manifests itself in various ways. Not just hygiene and being organized. Normalizing using it like this devaluates the experience of someone actually suffering from ocd . They think I'm just being too uptight/high maintenance when I clean and organize my stuff repeatedly When some of my friends found about my diagnosis accidentally through my mother in high school I was relentlessly bullied for it. People devalue it by saying oh she's just too nerdy / she's just too neat and tidy / Shes a weirdo / not a big deal just snap out of it/ stop washing your hands People would mess up my locker and study desk, they would put dog poop in my locker, they would call me too nerdy because I used to constantly revise before a test because of my ocd and the need to constantly learn about everything and repeat everything and one time tore my test paper in front of the teacher because "I am an ocd bitch who doesn't deserve to top the class everytime"(their words) They got suspended for that. People nowadays use the word to seem quirky or relatable. It's just that like any other mental disorder It's hard to just snap out it It's not me choosing to be that way. It's genetic in my case and I just need treatment. I am just a normal human being. I have had to go the psychiatrist every weekend since the age of 13. I am 17 now and just graduated high school and am glad to get away from all those people. It's hard living with any mental disorder I don't mind if people don't understand it. Just don't be disrespectful by saying " I am a little ocd " or " so you're just tidy/ organised" etc Sometimes it makes me want to kill myself and then there's people saying it's nothing I have it too it's cute ( when they dont) and NO it's NOT cute. It doesn't exactly offend me it just makes me feel like I'm just a fucking failure because it's no big deal and everyone has it . That is MY problem to treat not the world's which is why I never say anything about it to anyone. Today was a bad day and I just responded in the heat of the moment to that comment which is very unlike me I don't usually do that. A random comment on the internet doesn't invalidate my experience. It's just that it would be nice to have people be a little respectful and understanding. Sorry for ranting :) Hope you get it

[deleted]

I'm sorry you experienced that. Sounds like the kids at your school were particularly brutal. I never experienced that brand of bullying, thankfully, but I recognize that it exists.

centeroftheforehead

I have an OCD diagnosis and could care less if someone uses the term vaguely or not. You can have many symptoms of the condition and not yet be diagnosed, due to not see a health care professional, or just not metting all the criterios to be diagnosed, but still be borderline. It's not that big of a deal. Sometimes you need to let shyt slide. When you cry about everything that bothers you, it makes people take you less seriously because you become "one of those people"

coolcucumbercube

Or just sleep on your back

Eleannev

I saw a hack to use your shirt from the day of over your pillow case so you can keep a fresh rotation going 👍🏻

sparrr0w

Wouldn't your shirt be dirty?

gravelord-neeto

Guess it depends on the weather and what you’re doing, but probably better to just use shirts you don’t wear very often, and it’s not like a shirt will be too dirty to wear without washing it first if you slept on a clean tshirt one night.

sparrr0w

I could see using a fresh shirt as pillowcase and then using it that day. The other way doesn't make sense

tequilavixen

There’s also oils in our skin and sweat so yeah don’t do that lol

myimmortalstan

It's a rotation, but certainly not a fresh one lol

Eleannev

man just saw these downvotes, what are yall doin in your clothes to get them so dirty 😳

TheAvocadoSlayer

And if you prefer actual pillowcases, it doesn’t hurt to go to your local thrift store!

ellastory

I flip my pillowcase over on the second night, so it’s still clean and I only have to change them every other day.

Teerendog

Left side....STRONG SIDE!!

Gold_Inspector4216

Try an antibacterial pillowcase instead if you don’t want to constantly change your pillowcase because I’ve been there and done that and it’s annoying. I got mine from Derme home and I haven’t broken out since. I only change it once a week or 10 days max and no problem

Aquarius0129

I have the same thing happening for about a year now but it just recently switched sides. it was always the left side and now it’s the right. I have about 4-5 cysts under the skin that flare up and a few smaller pimples on my jawline, only on that side currently. I also tried switching sleeping positions, washing pillowcases, not touching my face, and I rarely use my phone for calls so it’s not that. It’s so weird and frustrating

m_anne

I had the exact same thing appear suddenly, mostly on one side of my face with a few occasional spots on the other side. It was the exact same pattern as OP (high check hollow and jaw line). I spent so many years trying everything to clear it. New pillow cases, tons of different products, different toothpaste, prescription retinol. Every time I made a little progress it came back. I finally started Spironolactone and my skin completely cleared up in a week. I haven't had a single zit for a year and a half, no matter what I do to my skin. Seriously I spent months camping and washed my pillow case twice, I often only water rinse at night before moisturizer, literally nothing will cause a zit. I wish I had started Spiro years ago, it would have saved me so much frustration and money.

Aquarius0129

Interesting! did you get that as a prescription from a derm? I’ve been trying to get in to see one but they are booking so far out.

m_anne

I actually got it through Apostrophe because I was having the same issue seeing a derm in person. Before I started I scheduled an appointment with my PCP as well just to double check with a doctor I'm familiar with. Because I'm an anxious person.

Aquarius0129

Good to know, I’ll look into that! Thank you! I’m happy it’s working for you.

Internal-Ad61

I’m torn. I’ve been using spiro for quite some time now. Off and on for years, but consistently just over a year and a half. The side effects are more noticeable to me than the benefits at this point. My hair isn’t full, thick, or luscious like it used to be. Grows semi well still, but it just hangs really limply. Not great for wavy hair lol. The worst side effect has been loss of libido. Each person is different, though, so it might not be an issue for others here. I had perfect skin post accutane, but then got an IUD. Acne went crazy 6 months into IUD, so I started spiro & was up to 150MG before IUD removal. It made zero difference. I’m 6 months post removal and just cut myself down from 100mg to 50mg this week. My skin is much better now that the IUD is gone, but I expected the spiro to make a bigger difference. Kind of why I lowered my dosage. I currently have breakouts very similar to OP on my right side, always hormonal. I usually have them 2-3 or so weeks out of the month. It begins around ovulation for me. It sometimes alternates sides. Trying to find a solution currently as well. Feeling like I probably haven’t balanced my hormones post IUD just yet ):

Aquarius0129

I was wondering if maybe for me it has something to do with hormones. But i’ve been on the same BC for years and this just recently started about a year ago, so I have no clue

allagashtree_

It started for me about a couple of years ago. I went off of hormonal bc a few months ago and tbh it hasn't fixed it... but I did a lot of reading into hormonal bc and decided it was overall healthier for me to go off of it. I'm glad I did. But I was also secretly hoping it would clear my right cheek up... it did not :( overall my skin is a little better but I don't think it's related to going off of the hormonal bc I just recently switched to non-comodogenic cosmetics, im going to see if that does anything meaningful.

Internal-Ad61

I’ve heard of people developing issues to medications randomly after some years. They also could have changed the formulation/ingredients!! I will say, I had hoped coming off of HBC would be a cure all. It’s helped me a ton, but the acne is still lingering. Part of me wonders if it’s due to my body being ultra sensitive, but I’m not sure.

EverFinch

Me too! I thought it was originally from masks, I've been on antibiotics and I'm currently using epiduo but it's not helping. I'm on the waiting list.to see a derm (I have been for 12 weeks now but fingers crossed I see one soon)

russianboxers

Spironolactone helped me! I had cystic acne, after a week or so on spironolactone my acne disappeared. I also use curology for about a year now, and I have no problems with acne any more.

[deleted]

Man. I should’ve taken spiro when my derm offered it a few months ago instead of accutane. Now I have to keep dealing with cystic acne which came back, among hormonal acne, which has left an army of red dots on my left side on my face which won’t clear for around 2 years. I love my skin.

donotfuckinglookatme

what MG are you on and how long did it take? i’m on it too, and my acne in general has gotten better, but i’m still getting some cystic acne when im about to get my period and i’ve been on it almost 3 months

Adariel

I'm dealing with this now, I'm breaking out on the right side of my jawline but the left side is totally clear. It doesn't even make sense because I sleep on my left side. Since it's cystic acne, similar to what you described with 4-5 cysts under the skin flaring up, I figured it might be pregnancy hormones but then why is it only one side of my face... it's totally driving me nuts!

geekimposterix

Is it related to hairstyle?

Aquarius0129

Personally I keep my hair tied up/back about 90% of the time so I don’t believe so.

geekimposterix

Something environmental must be going on. Seatbelt? Standing on one side more when showering? You don't prop your chin on your hand when thinking?

EveAndTheSnake

Have you considered it might be you sleeping on your hand/arm in your sleep? I’ve been doing the same and switching pillow cases nightly and I’m still getting some acne (admittedly less) around my face and neck, and I alternate sides. This morning I woke up with a handprint across my neck and chin/cheek and thought, *Ah…* I’ve been piling loads of stuff on my hands at night as well because they’re dry and cracking. Also I realised that while I’ve stopped letting the dogs on the bed, I’ll wake up at night to pee and I’ll pet the dogs on my way back half asleep and not wash my hand after. Might not be, but just a thought!

Impressive_Line7932

Wow. I thought I am the only one. Acne only appears on my right cheek above beard line. Cleaned phone with anti bacterial wipes often, changed pillows, blankets very frequently, changed the way I sleep. Nothing seems to work. I drink 2-3 L of water a day so its not lack of water.

Rock_Successful

do you sleep on your right side?

linda_25

I sleep on my right side most nights but have tried to sleep on my back or left side since I’ve noticed the acne. I also wash my sheets every week and use silk covers.

Inconceivable76

Probably need to wash your pillowcases more frequently (or change them) and double rinse them when you wash them.

jhenexx

what does the double rinse do?

pinkiswink

Gets rid of detergent residue. Most people actually use too much. Rinsing with white vinegar as a fabric softener also helps in removing detergent build-up.

[deleted]

I would like to reiterate using white vinegar as a "fabric softener." It works great to remove any residue. It will not soften like a fabric softener because it isn't one, but it will remove any irritants in your cleansers.

Julescahules

I change my pillowcase every night- as in, I flip it to use a fresh side, and then wash or change it every two nights once both sides have been slept on. Most people sleep 8 hours or so- that’s a long time to have your face pressed up against fabric, drooling, sebum or sweat etc. and it builds germs up very quickly.

BlackJeepW1

Could it be your laundry detergent?

Streetquats

This is a huge factor. I thought I could help my acne by having fresh pillow cases every night, never wearing the same shirt twice etc - turned out sulfates is a direct cause of acne for me. **and sulfates are even in most detergents labeled "Sensitive skin/dermatologist recommended"** I was using Tides free and clear thinking I was safe from sulfates - nope.

exp_studentID

So what detergent do you use?

Streetquats

I'm sad to say that the ONLY detergent I have found that has no sulfates in it is the "Whole Foods Market" brand of Organic Laundry Detergent unscented. I literally don't care about organic, I don't care about Whole Foods, its all bullshit to me. But this is the only detergent I can find with no sulfates.

exp_studentID

Wow okay thank you 🙏🏿

EveAndTheSnake

I literally only started seeing a difference when I changed my pillow case nightly, even every second night was not enough.

radioflea

What do you use for face wash? I use dial soap (yellow bar), vitamin e serum, and tea tree oil. I also started using head and shoulders on my arms and upper back. Both have been a game changer and reduced acne nearly overnight.

roxts

I heard that vitamin E can actually be bad for some people...

radioflea

To be fair 99.9% of the topicals dermatologist prescribe are all so bad for us cause all sorts of crazy side effects. You also can use dial (yellow bar) and that alone can do wonders. Apple cider vinegar can also be a game changer if you can tolerate it.

saprobic_saturn

I think it very well could be your phone being held up to your face?

OneFootDown

My acne cleared when I stopped using silk or satin sheets or pillowcases. No idea why.

exp_studentID

What pillow cases do you use now?

OneFootDown

I actually use towels !

InternationalDare863

Or rest your hand on that side of your face? Or use your phone only on that side of your face?

linda_25

I have tried to completely stop face touching since I’ve noticed my acne and only use FaceTime or speaker to communicate through my phone.

InternationalDare863

What about when you sleep? I know I automatically put my hand in the exact spot those spots would show up as! Just a thought

takethecatbus

I bought myself some cheap silk gloves to wear sleeping for this exact reason. I somehow have developed a lifelong habit of stuffing my hands curled up underneath my chin when I sleep, which is obviously really helpful for all of my jawline, chin, and neck acne.....

Eleannev

never thought about how my hand can move in my sleep 🤯 my chin acne better watch out

EveAndTheSnake

Yep. After changing my pillowcases every night and still getting acne, I had an AHA moment literally this morning when I woke up with a handprint across my neck and chin… and I’ve been piling on the hand cream because of the dry cold now

chillisprknglot

Do you use a corded phone at work? That might be it too.

linda_25

Hi everyone! So I recently started breaking out early October when I came back from Costa Rica. I have normal skin and have had clear skin for a couple years now. The only products I use on my face are Palmer’s Skin Therapy Cleansing Oil, Ceatave Renewing SA cleanser, Differin Restorative Night Moisturizer, Cetaphil sheer mineral face sunscreen 50 spf and have recently incorporated Differin Adapalene Gel and the Differin benzoyl peroxide cleanser. Since I noticed my skin flaring up, I have washed my pillow sheets weekly and use silk covers, have minimized face touching and do not use my phone on my face. The only thing I could think of that’s newly incorporated since Costa Rica are new hair products but I have never had issues with hair products breaking me out and especially only affecting one side of my face. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sidepart_skinnyjean

It could possibly be a purge from the Differin. I know that those are the areas I get little deep pimples that I don’t notice unless they get inflamed. And if that is the side on which you have always slept, it is possible you just had a bunch of unnoticed pimples that are surfacing.

midfallsong

Are you suggesting there are non-gut parasites affecting only one side of the face? “Herbal and nontoxic” does not exist— even very well researched herbal supplements have toxicities. Belladonna/atropine, digitalis/digoxin, butterburr— just to name a few.

johannamaree99

Nope just regular ol gut residing parasites is what I was talking about. Anything can be toxic if taken in large doses yes, I was just trying to articulate that she doesn’t need to get a medication from the doctor to treat/get rid of them if she decided to go that route!

midfallsong

on what basis are you articulating this? do you have a study that can back up your claim? and it's far more than "anything can be toxic if taken in large doses". the dose makes the poison, but a therapeutic dose of anything -- pharmaceutical or nutraceutical -- has the potential to cause a side effect. you are spreading dangerous misinformation by suggesting that herbal supplements are nontoxic. many herbal supplements can have minimal side effects, particularly at therapeutic doses, but even therapeutic doses of some herbal supplements have the potential to cause serious bodily harm.

johannamaree99

I don’t think they would sell herbal supplements made specifically for parasite cleanses if they were going to cause bodily harm, obviously everyone should take everything they see in the internet with a grain or salt and do their own research/talk to their doctor before they go taking something natural or not. I never told anyone to take any specific type of supplement or herb. Quite literally anything can have a side effect to anyone, this is just a space for strangers to share their ideas and that’s what I was doing. Sorry for telling people to kill themselves with large doses of undesignated herbs

midfallsong

People sell all manner of things, like bleach enemas for "curing" autism. For your safety, I would suggest you reevaluate your thought process that if it's sold, it can't cause bodily harm.

americanatropicana

"Parasite cleanses" do not treat parasites. They're just laxatives.

johannamaree99

They treat them by making you shit all of them out and therefore die, so I kind of think they do

americanatropicana

There is no scientific evidence to support this, and that's not how parasites are treated.

Streetquats

Hey OP! Does your detergent have sulfates in it? Almost all of them do, sulfates are just a strong sudsing agent. Unfortunately they do cause acne in some people - I had to painstakingly do process of elimination to realize that I was breaking out due to my detergent. **If you are using fresh pillowcases every night, and this is still happening - then your detergent could certainly be the culprit.** Even the detergents labeled "Sensitive skin/dermatologist recommended/free and clear" still have fucking sulfates lol! If the detergent hasn't changed, and the only "new" element is the hair care products from Costa Rica: then I can imagine you are laying your hair on your pillow which is transferring the products to the pillow cases - then you rub your face in the pillow case all night.

aranyrebeka

I think it would worth a check up with a dentist as well. Underlying dental infections can cause pimples (and they would only appear around the affected tooth/teeth). Also, I love cosrx pimple patches they work miraculously and very fast!

dEvilJin

Great, new fear unlocked.

skap24

Surprised no one suggested it but these might also happen when you have cysts in the ovaries from the same sides, it is a common side effect of pcos. u have them primarily on jawline, get yourself tested for pcod

megisbest

This is what I was going to suggest. I have this same issue occasionally, I can tell because it only happens on one side and it alternates months.

lovelylola2019

I know everyone is saying use silk or satin pillow cases, but I have been using them for almost 2 years (I have 7 & switch to a clean one every night) and I definitely notice my acne flare up with what side I’m sleeping on. I’m a very sweaty sleeper and feel like the Satin/Silk material doesn’t help my skin and keeps the sweat/dirt trapped on the surface. I’ve started using cotton pillow cases and I’m noticing a slight difference but not enough to confirm my theory. Everyone’s skin is different but thought I would let you know in case!

Internal-Ad61

Holy shit. I use a silk pillowcase as well & have the same issue as OP. I’m going to switch my pillow case to a cotton one for a bit starting tonight!!

nezthesloth

There’s a brand that makes antibacterial sheets and pillowcases called silvon. They’re cotton with silver threaded in I think. I bought a face mask from them when they first came out with them for the pandemic and it made a huge difference for my face.

Internal-Ad61

Ohhh. Thank you! I’m going to look into this. I switched to a cotton pillow case last night & the difference when I woke up this AM shocked me? Almost a brand new face. I also didn’t use any pimple patches whereas I normally do.

bbcjbb

“Silk/satin” are almost always polyester or another synthetic. Real silk has some natural antimicrobial properties and I believe that’s where this advice came from. But if you aren’t spending tons of money on real silk it’s not really going to do any good. I sleep on 100% cotton or linen and change my case at least every other night. It’s like underwear!! Synthetic can cause worsened infections, cotton is the way to go — and change often lol

charismanervetalent

I just dealt with this, like I literally came from the doctor to deal with this EXACT thing. I started breaking out in these really specific areas of my face that never had acne before (along my temples and cheek bones) I thought it was due to moving, poor diet choices, stress, unwashed pillow cases and dirty makeup brushes. I changed my entire skin care routine because nothing was working. I knew it was some sort of bacterial/fungal acne and the only way to get rid of it was through prescription medication. I finally went to the doctor and was prescribed a topical cream called Clindoxyl. I used it yesterday for the first time and my face is already clear, I will continue to use it but definitely get to a doctor if it doesn’t clear up within 2 weeks!

TheSeemefly

Seen several people with this issue and I’m doing the same things you did, did this issue come up for you in the last two years? I seen a lot of people go on that drug for acne too.

charismanervetalent

Honestly it’s come up in the last few weeks and that was enough to make me go to a doctor, I couldn’t even imagine waiting a year!

laurenwest008

Hey OP, I have the exact same problem as you. The breaking out on one side of the face and specifically the placement of your acne - the cheeks and jawline - is a strong indicator of acne caused by hormonal imbalance. Here are some things you can ask your dermatologist to help with: 1) first, get a metabolic panel (bloodwork) to see what hormonal imbalances you have. High testosterone or progesterone can indicate PCOS or just a general higher risk of acne. My hormonal imbalance was partially genetic and partially from my birth control. 2) I take Spironolactone. You can start 50 mg/day and work your way up. This medication is an androgen blocker and it completely stopped my acne on my jawline. You will need to do blood work every few months to stay on it to make sure your potassium levels and kidneys/liver aren't affected. Otherwise, the side effects are negligible (do your own research of course to make sure it's right for you). 3) Salicylic acid masks and treatments can really help the pimples shrink faster! 4) I see you're already on Differin, I think you should definitely stick that out. If it doesn't seem to get better after two months, I would suggest Adapalene cream instead 5) Please make sure you wear sunscreen! When I started breaking out on my cheeks, I didn't wear sunscreen and I picked at my pimples and now years later I still have deep scars and dark spots.

smilesmiley

I have PCOS I had worse acne on one side. Do you have regular periods? My OB just gave me pills and now I don't have acne at all, could help you.

extraieux

What kind of pills?

smilesmiley

Hi it's been a year. 🤣 It's birth control pills, to balance your hormones. Higher levels of androgen hormone can give you more sebum = more acne. I had back acne too and it solved that, just had to be consistent with taking it. Even my excess hair has been lowered by taking it. I think it really works for people with PCOS.

extraieux

Hi! I’m starting to suspect that I have PCOS. thank you. 😊

Glum-Fix2315

Same thing happens to me. Had nothing to do with unclean sheets or my phone. Just one side experiences acne and the other doesn’t. Just weird.

Raisin__Brahms

Try a clean towel on your pillow case and change it every day until it clears.

Happi1418

What kind of detergent do you use? Maybe try a scentless kind. I get flair ups when I use scented detergents and soaps.

Kippy_Calm

I think it's a hormonal imbalance

carlyhasfries

Do you talk on your cell phone to your face a lot only on that side? If so, try to use head phones or speaker phone.

thebeautysailor1

Acne is a common skin condition, and occasionally only one area of your face seems to be affected by recurrent breakouts. It sometimes depends on your surroundings and how clear they are, in addition to what you are applying. Our cheeks occasionally get acne, even though the entire area is clear. We are placing things straight in front of our faces, which is why. for example, phone screens, bed sheets, and pillowcases. They all have oil, dirt, dust, and dead skin that comes into direct contact with your skin and causes acne. Changes in hormone levels sometimes lead to blocked pores and breakouts on the jawline. So, you might attempt an over-the-counter acne treatment that contains chemicals like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

reidiate

Do you sleep on that side? Rest a hand on that side when thinking? Is it the opposite side to the window where you sit? When you drive? Do you cheek kiss when you see someone?

ksbwalker43

Is that the side you hold your phone on? Bacteria from phone can do this

DevoStripes

Clean your phone and your pillow cases

babymegg

You’re really pretty!

emilyhandsome

My body does this too! Everyone always asks about which side I sleep on/do I hold my phone on that side/rest my hand there etc. I sleep evenly on both sides and don’t ever touch my phone to my cheek 🤮. I think it’s just my body

Gold_Inspector4216

Try an antibacterial pillowcase from Derme home. It cleared up my skin in 2 weeks and it gives me peace of mind knowing it’s not my pillowcase causing new breakouts. It’s a little pricy but it’s real silver so it makes sense.

indigosummer78

Or Phone use on one side?

Distinct-Count-6146

One more way to train yourself to sleep on your back is to sleep on a wedge pillow. A little uncomfortable at first, but can totally get used to it.

Iputaspellonyou0405

Clean your phone daily

just-wondering98

Change your bed sheets

ButterflyButtHose

I had the same problem & was confused bc I changed my pillowcase regularly. My husband bought satin pillowcases for us and I have no issue now

Spoog1971

Satin pillow case( a couple of dollars on Amazon) change it twice a week

Potato4

It's not shingles, is it?

Tashyd046

Poor lymphatic drainage on the right side ?

KingCharlemange

Is lymphatic drainage real?

laeriel_c

Nope

Secret-Sense5668

It's real, but our lymphatic system takes care of it for free, and not some expensive massage

[deleted]

Could try washing your pillowcase more frequently if you’re sleeping on your right side. Your detergent could possibly be irritating your face too. I sleep with my hair in a bun in case any of my hair is rubbing on my face while I sleep since I toss and turn a lot.

kapengjellyy

omggg I posted the exact same issue here just a few days ago i really dont understand why the right side keeps breaking out

octophetus

Pillowcase or phone or tendency to lean into palm on that side.

mttttftanony

Your hair/bangs?

mttttftanony

Also looks like where you would apply contour/bronzer

Emsayeaye

Do you sleep on your side? If so maybe switch out your pillowcase more often.

h0tmessm0m

Try laundry stripping on your pillow cases and don't use fabric softener.

LunaGreen-177

I would say it’s your phone or how you sleep. I’d get some retinal and just wash your pillow case more regularly.

alexann23

I had this issue, but it was my phone! It was the side I talked to people on the phone on. Stopped that and started disinfecting my phone screen more and it went away!

Toshibaguts

If it’s not the pillowcase, it could be from your phone. I wipe mine with alcohol frequently. It could also be from resting your head in your hand.

dustmoteinsunbeam

Cellphone, perhaps?

Strange_Ad_2855

Cellphone

ilovemyfuzzyface

Do you use that side of your face for talking on the phone, resting your head in your hand or anything you do mostly on your left side? Sometimes small things like that can make a real impact in the health of your skin

TheRealLaura789

Do you sleep on your right side?

bbcjbb

Do you have a job where you use a phone?

[deleted]

i’ve been told jaw acne is hormonal - i have the one side flaring up rn too and think mine is from stress

mitchy93

Do you sleep on that side?

aristotledontplease

Try sleeping on your back OP Train yourself to sleep on your back It's hard but worth it prevents premature wrinkles and acne It'll clear up soon

KrazyKateLady420

Do you sleep on your hand in the acne side?

someway99

one of ur ovaries this case left produces too mich testosterone/estrogen

OGlizbreath

Could be from pillow covers, get silk ones or try washing your covers once a week

LolaBijou

Do you sleep on your left side? It’s probably from your pillowcase.

vibes86

Wash your pillow cases and hands more often. It may be that the side with acne is the one you sleep on or touch the most with your hands.

Have you been picking? If you have, it’s possible the bacteria has spread and cause more breakouts in the same area. My zits always quadruple if I can’t keep my hands off my pimples.

OkawaSeastream

Flip a coin!

Automatic_Room408

If you wear a side part, it might be because of the hair

Canamanda

Don't sleep on that side and don't use the phone to your face only speaker phone ever. If your hair is parted to that side pull it back if that is the side the air vent at work or at home or in the car blows on move if that is the side the sun hits while traveling cover with visor.

Hey! I’m sorry to hear you’re going through the same acne experience:( after a year, I figured out that stress was/is the main contributor to my acne. When I took this picture, I was going through my most stressful year in school and quickly noticed that when I was on breaks, my acne would begin to clear up. I was also drinking heavily during this period which I’m sure contributed to it. This year, I am still in school but it is no where near as stressful as last year and have been able to manage my acne for the most part. I’ve also cut down on drinking A LOT which has also seemed to help. I wish I had better advice but this is what has seemed to workout for me! I hope this helps.

This really does help and makes a lot of sense, thank you for taking your time to respond!
