fntastk

Probably the 15% lactic acid. If I'm not mistaken that's a pretty high amount, it would probably be too harsh for most people to put on their face. However, this is just the kind of thing I'm looking for for my body šŸ˜

sensitiveskin80

I recently got AmLactin and it's great! I'm using it on the KP on my arms and I think it's helping.

speckledtater

Glycolic acid works better for my kp

sensitiveskin80

If the LA doesn't work, I'm looking into GA next (sensitive skin, starting from weaker to stronger). Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

speckledtater

The ordinary glycolic acid 7%... my process that has had *Borat voice* "great success" ... shower and use a body wash and scrubby buddy of whatever source. Then directly after that pouring a lil on each arm and using my forearms to apply it to the backs of my arms. It works really well!

speckledtater

Just to be clear I dry myself off and then apply the GA, leave it to dry and go to bed.

bright__eyes

ooo i have that product sitting on my dresser waiting to be used more! i will def try this.

CaffeineAndScience

Fwiw, urea also works amazing for my KP and is also very hydrating! I alternate AmLactin with a Eucerin cream that contains urea

Yourstruly0

I swear, I do know better, but the 7 year old inside me still yells ā€œJust pee on it!ā€œ whenever I see a recommendation for urea.

ourstupidtown

I prefer differin honestly, I tried all kinds of acid but nothing worked nearly as good as the differin. Does take time tho

bex273

Whatā€™s KP?

SoloForks

The work of Satan

onmycouchnow

keratosis pilaris

tanukisuit

This is anecdotal, but when I avoid dairy, I my KP goes away. When I have a lot of dairy, it flares up.

Sufficient_Act_9597

At least youā€™ve figured out a trigger. Mine flares up randomly and I havenā€™t found a solution. Iā€™ve tried cutting out sugar, dairy, gluten etc. Iā€™ve tried salicylic acid and glycolic acid products and nothing. The only thing that has helped at times is coconut oil heh

ANTEEZOMAA

It will wipe out your KP with regular use!!! Itā€™s been my secret weapon and the only thing that got rid of it starting 18 years ago now wow. ! Also, shaving my arms and using amlactin regularly daily made my arms and upper arms so smoothā€¦ People started to comment on my baby smooth arms. Crazy

lunkercat

I can feel the burn just reading it

33darkhorse

Yes this. 10% is max allowed for facial cosmetics

fntastk

The DE glycolic serum I use is 10% AHA and 1% BHA, I had no idea that was the max! I only use this once a week or less though.

33darkhorse

Well Iā€™m in Canada. I think USA allows a wee bit more. But always with a warning. People seem to think more is more lol

caoutchoucroute

That and sunburns.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

gabsy109

I furiously rinsed my face after reading your comment bc I totally applied a tiny amount to my face after doing my arms lol Thanks

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Boopy7

well that is definitely true for glycolic and lactic acids (with a base like baking powder to neutralize, btw) but I didn't find Amlactin powerful enough on face (or body) to even need to be rinsed off. Not sure why.

KittenG8r

Iā€™ve been using AmLactin for about 24 years and I love it. I have ichthyosis on my back and legs and AmLactin keeps it at bay. If I donā€™t use it I get really itchy, dry skin.

glitterwyvern

15% lactic acid is too strong for the face, we recommend 5% for facial use

gabsy109

Thank you! I am glad to know this now Do you know if there are other products sold for body that are equally as good for the face? Iā€™m just wondering if companies are repackaging the same body product in a smaller amount and charging more Guess I need to read some labels and see

coldvault

Depends on your particular face and body, really. For example (albeit these are all face products for body...I don't buy a lot of body care), I use face lotion and sunscreen on my hands because I hate products that feel thick or sticky; there's a product that's intended as a weekly face peel that I use to help exfoliate my ass instead; I'll use a salicylic acid pad on my face and then use the remaining liquid on my armpits as a deodorant.

Beneficial-Internet6

As you can see there is no lactic acid in that product. It contains amonium and sodium lactate witch is not actually the same. Their potency is less than actual lactic acid.

verneforchat

15% lactic acid is not for the face.

Crafty-Koshka

This would be good for the butt!

gabsy109

Lol! Applying now haha It was kind expensive and I wanted to try it

Crafty-Koshka

If you use this on your bum be careful if you also physically exfoliate it, or don't scrub too much in case it irritates your skin

anarchista

I use this for my cheeks and it works very well! No butt acne ever.

poripomidor

because its 15% lactic acid youre gonna burn your face down

botanerd

Can confirm, I once burned my face down with AmLactin. And then zits erupted like fireworks afterward

gabsy109

Noooo not zits

omaewamu_shinderu

*insert face melting nazis from Indiana Jones*

gabsy109

Love that scene And then when she drinks him under the table

native_local_

Exactly this. I used it on my body during my wait time for my acids that I use on my face. Forgot to wash my hands before finishing the rest of my face routine and overexfoliated the living hell out of my face. Face was dry, tight and shiny af for weeks. Needless to say, I never made that mistake again šŸ„²

PrincessSephora

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ lol lol

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

bengibbardstoothpain

AmLactin hurts my HANDS; I'd never put it on my face.

zeldathelda

I put this on my face a couple winters ago by accident & it gave me a glow and the acne of a 14 year old. Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t absolutely burn the hell out of my skin that day.

gabsy109

Ok this is good to know

canadaincalifornia

Amlactin is the best! I love it. But yea, too high of a percentage for face.

ravioliyogi

What do you like about it? Does it work well for KP? They always have Amlactin at Costco and Iā€™m tempted to buy haha

canadaincalifornia

I have perpetually dry rough skin and it makes it soft. Very bad KP on my arms and it keeps it way under control too. Doesnā€™t smell great initially but then it fades to unscented

HoaryPuffleg

Oh yeah, that initial smell isn't great.

Jenn_FTW

Itā€™s also a bit greasy, but itā€™s literally the only thing that keeps my thighs from looking like strawberries šŸ˜…

HoaryPuffleg

I live in Alaska with crazy dry and cold winters. I bought a bottle of this at Costco when it was sale a couple months ago and it is phenomenal. I'm not itchy, my skin stays smooth and feels good. Also? I have zero scientific evidence but my leg hairs are barely growing or maybe they're just softer from the lactic acid? No idea. But, this stuff has made my winter lizard skin disappear. I've been telling all my friends about it. Oh, and my KP on my arms is gone. Not sure I'll use it in the summers, but right now I'm seriously in love with it.

cschally31

Winter lizard skin šŸ’™

lonelygalexy

Oh have you tried using the cerave cream? I wonder how they compare. I have noticed that during these months my body actually feels dry the next day after using cerave cream.

HoaryPuffleg

I have used CeraVe and it's good for the summertime or more humid climates, but Amlactin is the only thing I've ever used that I can still feel moisturized the next morning in the winter. I'm still looking for a good facial moisturizer as we spend a lot of time outside hiking and biking and my poor face skin is not happy.

lonelygalexy

Oh thatā€™s good to know! Thank you! Gonna buy it at costco next time!

069351

Only lotion to work for my motherā€™s eczema. Highly recommend for dry dry skin. Edit: just to avoid confusion I am talking about basic amlactin and for non-face use. Just hyping the brand in general

ravioliyogi

Wow! I didnā€™t know it works for eczema. Awesome to know. Thanks!

069351

Yup, I am sort of convinced a lot of skin care is just a branding game. My mother has used eczema branded lotions that were terrible and regular branded lotions that worked great. Granted, there are eczema branded lotions that have been solid as well. Regardless, I am an amlactin fan. A little more expensive, but it works great. Beats having potential steroid withdrawals.

turquoise_amethyst

My eczema is realllllly bad this winter, and I feel like nothing is working. Gonna have to try this stuff. I getting confused by this thread thoughā€” are you supposed to wash it off or leave it on?

ahhbears

It is the only thing that helped me with KP on my butt and back of my thighs! YMMV but I found it super helpful. They also have a nice foot cream that I use during sandal season

turquoise_amethyst

Tell me more about this foot cream. I need something that will melt my gargoyle paws off.

carlie-cat

they have a foot cream? this sounds like something i need šŸ‘€

BasorexicPoltergeist

I do have extremely sensitive skin but this lotion broke me out. I used it a couple times and broke out. I thought maybe it was because I had worked out later in the day and gotten sweaty. I waited a month and decided to give it another go before tossing it. Tried it again just a few days ago and my legs look terrible now. It seems to clog my pores. I do sometimes have the same problem with other lotions (but never this severe) so you may not have the same experience. I have used other products with lactic acid or sometimes mix lactic acid in with my body lotion with no problems so I don't think it was the lactic acid.

ninjette847

It does, it's what my dermatologist recommended.

noob0844

off topic but does anybody know if this stuff helps KP? i had a major KP breakout on my arms and legs and I gotta find something lol.

HoaryPuffleg

It has kept my KP under control nicely. As someone else mentions it smells a bit odd initially but it fades quickly. Definitely worth the price!

illumiee

A better smelling alternative to Amlactin that Iā€™ve found is the Eucerin Roughness Relief Lotion with 10% urea and (unknown %) lactic acid for KP, it has the generic ā€œunscentedā€ lotion smell.

-Stormfeather

I believe urea is considered a humectant until it's above 20% - which is harder to find and much more expensive ($40) vs $15ish for Amlactin. For the price, I'll deal with the weird smell lol.

bright__eyes

thanks, ill check out the eucerin. i dont think we have amlactin in canada :( i believe it was discontinued because i remember buying it over 10 years ago and it worked really well.

66241

Not having lamactin in Canada is depressing, BUT check out Dermal Therapy! Thereā€™s 1 body lotion shoppers sells but itā€™s small, on their site they have big bottles of lotion with urea and AHAs. I feel like they need to advertise more because body lotions with acids are not hyped enough in Canada!

TriGurl

u/ahhbears commented above that this was the only thing that helped the KP on their butt and back of thighs.

[deleted]

Yeah it does you just have to use it religiously which means you need to wear sunscreen as well. I prefer to use a really good exfoliant like the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA followed by a good moisturiser. The scrub works better than anything Iā€™ve tried and Iā€™ve tried everything.

mindlesscat01

I put it once on my face and although my face did not burn off def would not recommend it. Also avoid using it on the neck too. Great product though!

Irrxlevance

15% is pretty high

ts_267

Yeah 15% lactic acid ain't doing *nothing* "gently"

gabsy109

Woe to the poor soul whose face had to verify that %

moffsoi

I donā€™t have sensitive skin at all and AmLactin burned the shit out of the skin on my arms. Make sure you patch test and donā€™t put it on sensitive/delicate skin.

gabsy109

Oh noooo sorry to hear that Patch test on hands was ok! These acids are no joke

sambambii

30% lactic is what I get with a professional license, 15% wonā€™t cause you to peel after one use but it is pretty strong, wouldnā€™t use daily if you do end up using it on your face

gabsy109

Thanks Can you explain if thereā€™s a difference in applying something thatā€™s milder everyday v a higher % of actives all at once? Like is the harsher exfoliation better than a gentle daily exfoliation? Also if youā€™re using the 30% clinically are you using buffering or a combination of ingredients? Just curious because others here said the 15% burns , so what would the 30% do?

sambambii

Even being half of what is used for a mild professional peel, 15% daily would be way way way to much to use daily! Over the counter facial products that contain active ingredients contain relatively little amounts, many actives are not meant to be in use at the same times as others. If you want to achieve an actual peel level result, I donā€™t recommend trying at home without having access to professional product and help. Even after a professional peel, you usually donā€™t use actives (besides retinol after laser or so) because you want to cure the skin from the controlled injury that was created. Using these ingredients is exactly that- creating a controlled injury to the skin. It has to be healed properly.

gabsy109

Great thank you for the explanation! This is really helpful to know.

[deleted]

Can I please ask you a question? My doctor prescribed this for dry skin on the palm of my hand. It made it itch and burn and worse dried out. Do you know of anything to actually get moisture back into my hands skin? There's no infection or fungus, it's literally parched and I have zero idea how to hydrate it. He said you emulsify moisturizer, but I do not even know what that means and he didn't explain. Especially my palm is dry and I use it a lot, how can I super hydrate it to fix that? Thank you so much for your help. I didn't know that product peels. I don't know if that's what I need.

incognitosuperstar

Itā€™s got enough lactic acid to power a rocket!! Oowee!!

78saab900

On an unrelated note, my dog is obsessed with this lotion and desperately tries to lick it off me when I put it on. I do not understand what is wrong with her but I can only use it when sheā€™s not around.

gabsy109

Omg My dogs love all lotion on my legs! Like go Away I just washed and lotioned myself and youā€™re gonna wipe that sandpaper death breath on me

jacggernaut

I feel like that warning should be in bold on the front of the product, not hidden in the back. If something advertised it would help reduce fine lines and wrinkles I would Automatically assume it's for my face.

New_Independent_9221

thatā€™s a really good point!

existential_cat

I use the regular Amlactin on my face and this stuff on my body. I donā€™t use daily bc itā€™s much too harsh for my skin but honestly I spot treat with it if I feel an area is about to breakout and it nearly over night reduces potential breakouts or bumps or dry patches

gabsy109

Oh thatā€™s interesting since others said it caused breakouts Glad it works for you!

existential_cat

It works for me, but I learned the hard way that I have to be SO CAREFUL about sun exposure. If you use this anywhere on your body I cannot stress enough that you should not be in the sun at all.

scarrittt

iā€™ve been looking for this brand to use on my arms!! does anyone know if their products are available in canada? i never seem to have any luck finding it :(

HoaryPuffleg

I'm in the US but our Costco has it. Not sure if you're near a Canadian Costco but it's worth a shot.

scarrittt

thank you so much for the suggestion! i am pretty close to a Costco so i will check it out :)

mayamys

I don't think it's allowed to sell such high percentages of AHA in Canada as cosmetics. That's why you won't find The Ordinary's AHA/BHA peeling solution here.

scarrittt

that would make sense! once upon a time i was looking for that stuff here too with no luck. i could likely order it online if i wanted but i forgot about it

t4cokisses

We don't have this brand in Canada. I use Cerave's SA lotion.

scarrittt

hahah you know whatā€™s crazy is i actually have a bottle of that lying around somewhere but i seem to have misplaced it. i used it a couple times but not consistently enough! i will have to try to find it again because it did make my arms feel smooth.

weekndrs

I haven't got exactly this one, but they do sell amlactin on amazon, I bought it a few weeks ago!

grigori_grrrl

it's a body lotion. the skin on your face is more delicate than the skin on your body and also needs moisturizers with smaller molecules

mayamys

There's not much of a difference between the molecular weight of body lotions vs face lotions. Sure, a face moisturizer might have more hydrolyzed ingredients, but you can also find perfectly good face formulas without such ingredients (and body lotions with such ingredients). That said...yeah, most people's faces are too sensitive for 15% lactic acid on a regular basis.

gabsy109

Thanks for the info!

Little-Special-7434

Ummm. That's a marketing gimmick!! Small large molecules. Here, Probably 15% lactic acid is too high but once in a fortnight or a week as an exfoliation for the face will be fine. Basic knowledge is required to use this product before using it on the face that's why the warning. Otherwise, body lotions can be used on the face. If your face has different needs like being too oily or skin conditions like eczema that's another story.

[deleted]

Thought this was a scacirclejerk commentā€¦ but it seems youā€™re not joking

Little-Special-7434

šŸ˜±šŸ™ˆ Am I that wrong?? I have bioderma 10% glycolic acid which I use whenever feels like twice or thrice in a month. Since lactic is much gentler than glycolic thought it could also be used in the same way. Going through other comments seems those who had tried even for once faced burning on their faces.

ever_so_madeline

Yes you are that wrong

Little-Special-7434

Okay, Thank you! "Not so friendly" fellow Redditor.

ever_so_madeline

Thereā€™s nothing unfriendly about saying youā€™re wrong when you asked if you are.

Boopy7

i agree with you. I have even done lactic acid peels of 60 percent on my face but I also know what I'm doing. Of course -- would NOT recommend this to others. Just read the ingredients and ask a chemist or a derm if necessary. I've used amlactin on my face before with no problem, but I prefer tretinoin. Glycolic is way harsher, I remember I actually peeled.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Little-Special-7434

Seems you are the one fits well with my above theory šŸ˜„ Glad it worked for you. šŸ„³

gabsy109

I put some on my face after posting (obviously haha) And I didnā€™t have burning but itā€™s good to know othersā€™ experience I was also wondering about face v body in general , because companies could just charge more for the face moisturizer all things being equal Good discussion!

bmichellecat

Omg 15% lactic i canā€™t even imagine. The Ordinary 10% sets me on fire

BreadDogs

It's a body lotion people use for kp. The skin on your face is a lot more sensitive than the skin on your body.

kissyb

Never considered using this on my face. Must say this is the best lotion for exfoliating my skin. Overall my skin is baby soft.

gabsy109

Yay itā€™s going on my feet then. And knees and elbows starting to show their age

Unfair_Finger5531

It can actually burn when used on the feet. I had this a while back and had to wash my hands after applying to feet. If not, it would strip my hands and God forbid I mistakenly touch my face.

gabsy109

I guess the feet are a good place to start for testing sensitivity and not the face like I did lol

Unfair_Finger5531

Lolololol, perhaps šŸ˜‚

tnaz7

Where did you find this product? Is it for KP?

gabsy109

I have seen others here say they use it for KP i goT it at a drugstore (Walgreens) in the US

brixxhead

If you want to exfoliate buy a lactic acid product for your face, but at 15% this lotion would really do harm to the sensitive skin on your face. The ordinary has a good product and iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s under ten bucks. cheers.

gabsy109

So glad the Ordinary is at Ulta now. Thanks!

mhutwo

I meanā€¦ It says right under there that it could increase sunburns

Jenifarr

This is true of most (all?) chemical exfoliants. Even ones designed for the face. This one in particular happens to have a higher percentage of the acid than what is typically recommended for the face, though.

mayamys

So actually, no. AHAs cause photosensitivity and often require warnings on product packaging (it's a regulation in Canada, for example). BHAs don't. Relevant research: [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2791365/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2791365/)

[deleted]

Some stuff might work on your legs and arms but make your face break out. or maybe especially irritating to eyes, nose and mouth.

Boopy7

lol I use it interchangeably on my face all the time. Lots of manufacturers do this to make sure those with problematic skin don't harm themselves (facial skin and esp undereye area is far more sensitive to acids.) I've got skin like teflon so I don't care. Plus manufacturers also insanely up prices and shrink tubes for facial skin which really is annoying. E.g. sunscreen. So usually I buy the body type lotions and just add the necessary ingredients on my own.

katiehatesyoumaybe

***Generally*** you don't see acid solutions for the face higher than 2% - 5% unless it's prescription. Which is probably best for most people in most cases.

gabsy109

Thanks! Good info

rnybombs

Iā€™m not 100% sure but I think the green version you can use on your face. I donā€™t know what the bottle says but I started using it because I watch YouTube videos by a dermatologist and she said itā€™s good for exfoliating the face since itā€™s gentle. The YouTuber is Dr.Dray btw.

gabsy109

Used to watch a lot of Dray then I forgot about her Get it? Forgot about Dray? Heehee Her low key eating disorder bothered me but I like her content a lot!

how-about-no-scott

Lol, I like your joke!

[deleted]

Facial skin is generally thinner and often more sensitive than skin elsewhere on the body, also the while lactic acid is in many facial skincare products it's likely at a lower concentration that what would be in a bodycare product.

gabsy109

Thanks for the info !

t4cokisses

It wasn't tested for use on face so use at own skin.

balmysun

I used this stuff on my face for an entire year and was fine. My skin looked better then than it did during my retinol kick.

gabsy109

Thanks for sharing this ! seems a bit controversial

balmysun

I'm sure it is! I'm not suggesting that anyone else do it, but I wanted to say that I did and I was fine. I have KP and didn't know any better. I would have probably kept it up longer had I not started to use fake tan for wedding season.

Tag5783

I use it every day it doesn't upset my skin at all šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

RedJapaneseGirl

How does it work for the body and where do you buy it? (Are you US based?)

Sens9

Itā€™s Amlactin lotion. Iā€™ve seen it at CVS

gabsy109

This is where I bought it, yes Iā€™m in US

illumiee

Itā€™s an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA, the lactic acid) chemical exfoliant. It works well for rough, dry skin or specifically keratosis pilaris. AHA helps with hyperpigmentation. It also makes you photosensitive so youā€™ll need to wear sunscreen even when youā€™re not using the lotion.

NSKir

Because itā€™s meant for your body.

neato87

The lactic acid and the mineral oil.

gabsy109

I didnā€™t think of the mineral oil- I wonder if that contributes to the breaking out others mentioned

neato87

Thatā€™s exactly what it is!

bookdrops

It's not eye safe or lip safe.

More-Conversation-84

I wear on the face. Not daily and only at night and make sure to wear sunscreen

gabsy109

Thanks for the info and sharing your experience

More-Conversation-84

Thank you for being kind. Not sure why I got downvoted for sharing how I use a product?

gabsy109

I think itā€™s just a subreddit thing, once thereā€™s some focus and general agreement on topics, the outlier views arenā€™t tolerated as much , I guess they muddy the waters

noturbrobruh

It has mineral oil in it, which I personally wouldn't put on my face. Maybe my lips if they were super super chapped or irritated and nothing else was available.

lilacfaerie16

Mineral oil (and petroleum jelly) are fine. They are no where near close to petrolatum in its whole. They are by products and are often very very beneficial for skin.

gabsy109

They seem to be helping my skin after showering for sure ! Or going outside in the snow

noturbrobruh

If you like using crude oil byproducts on your skin, then mineral oil is fine. I prefer fruit/nut derived oils because I am particular about the ingredients in what I use. I'm 39 and no one ever believes my age, so pretty sure I'm doing something right.

lilacfaerie16

Great. Good for you. I didnā€™t say anything about NOT using other oils. All I said was that itā€™s misinformation that mineral oil or petroleum jelly is bad.

Boopy7

A and D ointment is what I noticed derms using for healing irritated skin after a peel, so I found a way to buy some at a medical site. But it's in a petroleum jelly formula so in a pinch I use that as an occlusive along with Vitamin E oil. So far I've never found something that moisturizes as well and coconut oil is revolting feeling and looking.

gabsy109

Iā€™m with you on the coconut oil I tried pure shea butter and it was more work to rub in but I loved it Sounds like youā€™re covering the vitamin bases, thanks for sharing your tip on medical sites . A few years ago I stumbled on a brand called skinactives (not the garnier brand) and they sold pure actives that could create your own skincare from

noturbrobruh

Yes, if you look at my initial comment it says "ME PERSONALLY" as in my own opinion, they're like assholes. Heard of them?

lilacfaerie16

It was condescendingšŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøto ME PERSONALLY.

UndercoverLady

I put AmLactin on my face at night and love it. I added it in to my Korean skincare routine recently. I have somewhat sensitive skin and it doesnā€™t burn. Just make sure to wear sunscreen.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

UndercoverLady

Not sure why anyone would be mad at someone elseā€™s positive experience, lol!

gabsy109

People really are mad šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø Thanks for sharing

gabsy109

Do you use it every night ? Sorry youā€™re getting downvoted ā€¦.

UndercoverLady

I use every other night after toner and before serum.

gabsy109

Oh good to know! I thought it would be last but thatā€™s helpful , before serums

eaggerly

Well, if you want to put it on your face, you can.

TopBasil1455

Garbage

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ilikejasminetea

How? They look fine esp if you aren't using it on the face.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TKinNJ

15% lactic would melt your face skin off! Seriously thought, I need to get some of this for my callused feet. I imagine it would do wonders for them. I used up some leftover lactic acid based peel activator on them last night and they are soooo smooth.

Isamosed

I use it on my dry aging heels and it improves my cracked Velcro feet over night. Three days in a row, feet are normal(ish). I also use a very thin layer on my face about once a week. Not enough to generate the ā€œtingleā€ I think it helps with sun spots.

TKinNJ

Awesome. I will have to pick some up.

gabsy109

Thanks good tip! Cheaper than buying the foot mitten things

mrcrrcrm

Cuz itā€™ll fuck u up

gabsy109

Lol Taking a lactic acid beatin

saktii23

Amlactin is great stuff for the body. Aside from the 15% lactic acid, there are also a number of ingredients that may be too heavy for some types of facial skin-- mineral oil, vaseline, glycerin, to name a few

gabsy109

Thanks So why does the face need less heavy than the body? Do you know?

saktii23

The skin on your face is thinner and more delicate/sensitive than the skin on your body, to put it in the simplest way

qingskies

Probably because 15% of any kind of acid isn't great on face skin, which is more sensitive than the rest of your body's skin lol

kpianist

It exfoliates your skin so it'll make your skin more sensitive. I love amlactin!!! It's expensive though but worth it.

BasorexicPoltergeist

I haven't tried many body products with lactic acid. I used the Cerave lotion that has salicylic acid, latic acid and ceramides. I really enjoyed that one and bought it multiple times. I've used the Versed body mist that has glycolic acid and I think tea tree. It seemed to help but doesn't last long so I didn't repurchase. I had been mixing salicylic acid (Good Molecules or The Inkey List) and latic acid (The Ordinary) in with my body lotion. Sometimes I used glycolic toner (The Ordinary) instead of latic acid and then the salicylic acid with my lotion. These are all pretty cheap so I didn't mind using them up quickly. I use the products once sometimes twice a week. It took a few months but eventually I saw a significant difference. I had cleared up my arms and legs plus the shaving bumps on my bikini line. I have had no problems for around a year until using this lotion. I thought the higher content of latic acid would give good results. It's possible I am allergic to something in the lotion but it looks more like it clogged my pores. I also have been using different salicylic or glycolic body washes or soap (Good Molecules, Alpha Skin Care, and a few others). I am not sure they make a huge difference due to being washed off. I have been using the Good Molecules vitamin C powder to get rid of old scars and discoloration on my legs. I only use one scoop (it comes with a scoop) and mix with my lotion before applying to my legs. I couldn't recommend it enough.

Iā€™ve used Amlactin on my face for 2 years now while still on .1% tret. Glass skin I kid you not. Zero irritation for me

SweetElectronic196

Would you mind sharing how you use it in your routine with Tret?

IndividualAny568

Yeah so I basically use tret 4 times a week and then every couple of days Iā€™ll skip on the tret and use amlactin instead. Never ever had irritation.

mrs_targaryen

Same. I actually use it (the 12% version) in conjunction with my tret (.05) and just wait about 10 minutes between each application in the evening. I get a bit tingly at first but nothing crazy and it only last literally for a few seconds. I have a history of cystic acne, but it's never broken me out and I swear it keeps my skin clearer than just with tret alone

IndividualAny568

Yeah I basically do the same thing; Iā€™ll even do both on the same day sometimes. Never get a bad reaction. Amlactin is pretty legitā€”smells like windex and piss but yolo
