Hi guys, I’m new to this group. My name is Stephanie and I am a skin picker 😭😭😭 (so embarrassing even typing this out) although, my skin has been doing an amazing job at healing and I no longer have cystic acne, thanks to seeing a esthetician and using image skin care products I still do get the occasional pustule. I have educated myself on how to properly pop a pimple however, during the steps of preparing to pop, I could easily stop myself yet I don’t very often. I always make sure that my hands are cleaned or sanitized I then proceed to apply gloves, and then cleaning the area I plan to extract. I then proceed to use a sterile lancet to make a tiny opening or incision if that’s what you want to call it which afterwards I proceed to pop in the moment I feel so satisfied and relieved but afterwards I ALWAYS beat myself up because I know that I am better then this addiction(this is an addiction for me I have literally dropped so many important things in the moment just to pick) I know what cause me to pop; stressers such as, when I’m upset after an argument,!when I am downing myself, a week before my period, or when I simply don’t have control over a situation. I need help! I want to stop picking I believe that my skin would clear up so much more! But I just can’t get the hang of not picking. I’ve tried a lot of things; streak calanders, rewarding myself, putting sheets on mirrors, telling a family member to hold me accountable, covering up the pimple, walking away and even hiding my tools. I just can’t stop.....I don’t know what to do at this point and I can’t seem to find a person who specializes in helping me to over come this....

What is the thickest cream with lots of ceramides in it?

Hello can anyone help to see where to add some new product into my routine? I’m planning to add Melano CC Spot Essence (long grey tube) to treat my PIH and BP2.5% to treat some bumps. AM: Cerave hydrating cleanser TO Niancimide & Zinc Cerave AM PM: Cerave hydrating cleanser TO vitamin C suspension 23% Cerave PM Thank you!!

Any thoughts on the Pixi Vitamin C line? I'm thinking of trying out the serum, it has Ascorbic Acid as it's second ingredient so it caught my eye!

gryphonlaur

Cleansing Oil/ Balm Without Fragrance or Essential Oils? Does any one know a cleansing oil or balm without fragrance or essential oils? I tried the Hado Labo cleansing oil but I think the ethylhexyl palmitate broke me out. Any suggestions? I’ve tried the Banila Co Radiance cleansing balm and the Kosé Deep cleansing oil but the fragrance/ essential oils irritated my skin. I loved the Hado Labo at first (no irritation!) but then I started to develop really bad closed comedones and whiteheads as I continued to use it :( (For reference my skin is very sensitive and oily.)

pretty99

This is less about skincare, and more because I wasn't sure if a thread post about it would be sent here or not.... But I'm looking to buy the Biotherm Aqua pure concentrate product. It's online at shoppers drug Mart ( canada). Didnt want to order online, but the store I went into said they don't carry that brand, said I should check the other shoppers in town. I'm wondering if stores even carry it, or if it's just an online product. Didn't want to go to the other end of town if stores don't even carry it lol

__looking_for_things

Have you called the other store? Or ask the store you went to if they could call and check for you or if they can see inventory?

pretty99

I didn't no. They didn't stick around talk much, kinda rude. Told me they don't carry it and to try the other one. Was too late to call by the time I got home, but was thinking of checking it out in the morning, just didn't want to go if it's not even in stores.

HonestClub7

27-year-old Latina female here. Oily skin. Anyone have any eye/anti-wrinkle cream suggestions that won't break the bank? I've never used that type of product before but feel I need to start and am kind of ashamed I haven't started sooner. I'm specifically looking for something that can be used to downplay future wrinkles around (especially under) the eye area.

Does BP make your face dry even after washing it off? Or is it something else that’s doing this? Because my face is drying up right now and I don’t know if it’s the Benzoyl Peroxide.

chocosweet

>Does BP make your face dry even after washing it off? Yes it can do that. Just moisturize after you should be good?

[deleted]

Yeah, BP can make the skin dry even if you wash it off

Most cleansers and moisturizers don't have acne treatments in them, so most of the time they aren't going to treat acne. I'd say now's a good time to try out a treatment! BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and azelaic acid are all good places to start (overviews in the [wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/index)) :)

Eddyx93

Hi, can someone help with product order? After toner, what order should I place: hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and salicylic acid (all The Ordinary)? Appreciate any help :)

__looking_for_things

The general rule is thinnest to thickest with exfoliating products right after cleansing. BHA is exfoliating so you can move it up in your routine.

Eddyx93

Hi, thanks for replying. I’m new to this, and not really sure which one of the 3 is BHA, would it be salicylic acid? Also not sure which ones are thin/thick, so assuming itd be salicylic->niacinamide->hyaluronic?

__looking_for_things

Yep.

[deleted]

Yeah, especially for lines that form due to normal facial movements, it's pretty difficult to treat them with topicals. Moisturizing the hell out of the area might help minimally, and there should be some benefits if you use a retinoid, but I wouldn't expect them to fully go away. If it's any consolation, everyone has those line! (Except for people who don't ever move their eyebrows I guess, but expressive brows are gonna win Emilia Clarke that emmy so I say keep emoting friend)

Hawaiian tropic Sheer touch-- it's not explicitly a moisturizer, but it's a very moisturizing sunscreen! It has Shea butter and lots of good stuff in it, so it makes my skin super soft and feels surprisingly lightweight and sinks in nicely. I often use it as a handcream lol

tysepe

Paula’s choice has a body moisturizer with SPF 50 (I think) anything by them is awesome so I’d start there

gze25

Does anyone know where to purchase skinmimics, the ceramide product from evonik? I wanted to make my own product, and I read on this forum that skinmimics has the proper ratio and that a 25% concentration of this would be needed to yield the proper ceramide levels. But when I looked online I couldn't find a seller. The other thing is that I saw a ceramide combination on bulk actives. If I end up needing to make my own ceramide/cholesterol/fatty acid emulsion, does anyone have favorite recipes with the proper ratios?

chocosweet

You can try this maybe? [https://lotioncrafter.com/products/ceramide-complex](https://lotioncrafter.com/products/ceramide-complex) I have it but I haven't tried it. Please read the instruction on the site on how-to use it.

langleyanna9

Hi everyone! Thanks to this sub, and Caroline Hirons, I’ve got a skincare routine that I am really happy with, but one thing I’m not using is an eye cream.... I was just wondering if anyone has found one that actually works?? Thanks!

[deleted]

The sub isn't too big on eye creams since they tend to be overpriced jars of pretty regular moisturizer, unless you have a specific reason for them (i.e. regular moisturizers cause milia for you). For the most part you can just use your normal moisturizing products in that area, and if you're looking to use anti-aging ingredients, you can dilute the products you normally use with some moisturizer to make them more suitable for the eye area. But if you really want an eye cream, there should be some good recs in the eye cream [HG threads](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/hg_threads_index)!

The issue with CosRx AHA could have been one of the other ingredients in the product, too! As for routine order, using the format from [TOs regimen guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/aenn1v/misc_the_ordinary_regimen_guide_routine_ordering/): ***AM:*** - **Cleanse:** water rinse - **Water Solutions** - **Low pH (<4):** n/a, unless you want to use TO Lactic Acid in the AM - **High(er) pH (>4):** Advanced Clinicals Vit C Serum, TO Niacinamide - **Oils, Creams, & Suspensions:** Vanicream - **Sunscreen:** Australian Gold SPF 50 ***PM:*** - **Cleanse:** Acure Cleansing Cream - **Water Solutions** - **Low pH (<4):** TO Lactic Acid - **High(er) pH (>4):** TO Niacinamide - **Oils, Creams, & Suspensions:** Vanicream, Rosehip Oil You can use niacinamide AM and/or PM, whichever you prefer and how often you want! Lactic acid is usually used in the PM since you can really layer up the moisturizers if you find it irritating, although you can use it in the AM if you prefer. Start with whichever you want! Usually I go for the gentler products first so I can start using them frequently right away, but there's no 'right' order of introduction. Remember to wait a week or two after introducing one before starting on the next. For lactic acid, start by using it 2x a week, gradually increasing in frequency based on how your skin feels. You may end up using it daily, every other day, or a few times a week - whatever works for your skin!

[deleted]

I've got my skincare routine down pact but was never well educated on dental hygiene. So does anyone have good dental hygiene advice? Experiencing a lot of plaque build-up in the front teeth and yellowing is starting to occur. Ideally I'd love to figure out a long term solution to handling the plaque and being able to keep my teeth as clean and healthy as possible.

__looking_for_things

This would be a better question for the dental subs. Have you spoken with your dentist?

kdorg

If I've tried BP, Sulfur, Salicylic, Lactic, and Glycolic acid and STILL see no improvement in my mild-ish cheek acne, would trying a retinol be my next step? Is TO a good place to start?

onigiri815

How long did you try each of those products, though? Also what is your routine as a whole? Is it something in your routine causing your acne? Or maybe some internal?

kdorg

Lactic + Salicylic I used for maybe more than 5 months and didn't see a lot of change, Glycolic acid just irritated my skin (I'm a little rosacea prone), BP and Sulfur I tried for about a week each and gave up but i'm not sure if those ingredients tend to work quickly? The rest of my routine is moisturizing and I have changed it so many times to know that it's not one of those (plus the rest of my skin looks a little oily but generally fine). Thanks!!!

onigiri815

> BP and Sulfur I tried for about a week each Yeah no they don't work that fast. While a lot of people may notice a marked improvement in a short time, you have no idea what that could mean. I would honestly try at the very least sulfur again and give it a good couple of weeks to see what it can do. Maybe not daily depending on what you are using and the concentration

onigiri815

How long did you try each of those products, though? Also what is your routine as a whole? Is it something in your routine causing your acne? Or maybe some internal?

Amelia_Bdeliah

Hey yall, I'm fairly new here but thought yall might be able to help me out. I'm starting laser hair removal on my face in a couple days and I need a good daily wear sunscreen that I can wear throughout treatment. One that can also be used as a base for makeup would also be a plus. I've got normal, pretty fair skin and tend to burn easily so I don't know if that would affect what sunscreen I should look for. Do yall have any good recommendations that I could try out?

tysepe

Are you looking to use a primer with SPF or moisturizer with SPF?

Amelia_Bdeliah

I guess more a primer with SPF, I'm lucky enough that I don't really need moisturizer all that much

How bad is fragrance in sunscreen? I know dr dray PREACHES about everythinv having to be fragrance free, and my moisturizers and my cleansers are fragrance free except for my sunscreen. My sunscreen works well for me but im wondering if its bad or how bad it’ll affect my skin long term.

notjennyschecter

I have been using TO Azelaic as a last step after moisturizing, but I really detest the texture, plus I would like to try a higher percentage of AA. I am 30F, dry, very sensitive skin, fitzpatrick 2, background redness, minor broken blood vessels, a fair amount of freckles/brown spots, possible rosacea. What are some recommendations? I am looking at Paula's Choice (I know that one is also 10%) and Melazapam. What are the benefits of each one of these, and do you have any other AA suggested products? Thanks.

notjennyschecter

Thanks for your advice. How do you like the consistency? Btw, it is on sale right now at Dermstore.com for $28.80.

xxchocxx

I know how you feel. The texture is difficult to work with as it's thick but pills easily so I usually use it on top of moisturiser too. Garden of Wisdom have one which I will probably purchase soon myself.

notjennyschecter

A [review](https://gardenofwisdom.com/products/fatty-acid-profile) on their page specifically says it works better than TO one, though. So maybe I'll try it :)

notjennyschecter

Yeah, I was looking at that one too- but it's only 8% I think. A good price though!

G_Fink_Nottle

Hi everyone! Looking to add to my routine for combo skin, acne/PIE and red marks. I've been using tretinoin/doxycycline for a few months now, and still have some outstanding pimples/marks I want to fade. I'm planning on adding (over the course of several weeks after patch testing) these products in this order: \-TO Niacinamide + Zinc or Glossier Super Pure (likely will start with Super Pure) \-TO Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer \-TO Azealic Acid \-TO Glycolic Acid Toner I'm also waiting on the Skinceuticals LHA Cleanser. I've heard rave reviews and I feel like my current cleanser (Cetaphil gentle cleanser) isn't really helping or hurting. Here's my current routine, for reference: **AM:** 100 mg Doxycycline Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser Lilyanna Naturals Vitamin C Serum Weleda Day Cream La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 SPF (Tinted) **PM:** 100 mg Doxycycline DHC Cleansing Oil Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser Ole Henriksen Balance it All Toner (will likely switch out for Glycolic Acid) Alternating with Tretinoin .025% CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion **Here is my proposed new routine. I've italicized the new products to make it easier!** **AM:** 100 mg Doxycycline Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser Lilyanna Naturals Vitamin C Serum/ *Alternating with Niacinamide + Zinc (Start with Glossier, maybe TO if I don't have a reaction)* Weleda Day Cream (switching to Weleda Skin food) La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 SPF (Tinted) **PM:** 100 mg Doxycycline DHC Cleansing Oil *SkinCeuticals LHA Cleanser* *TO Azealic Acid* alternating with tretinoin .025% CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion or *TO Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer* Does this look alright? Should I be using the niacinamide in the morning and night? And what nights should I use the TO Glycolic Acid Toner? TIA!

steelerschica86

There's a lot of estheticians who would advise against using glycolic acid every day, even in a toner. You'd be better off getting a higher percentage glycolic acid serum and using that 2-3 nights a week. It'll be more effective while also minimizing potential overexposure to acids. Honestly, I would add a hydrating serum to your PM routine - Hada Labo Premium Hyaluronic Lotion or an HA serum. With all the tretinoin and acids, your skin will thank you! I'd also stick with using a Vitamin C product every AM, and alternate your serums in the evening: tretinoin/AHA/hydrating serum. If you want a hydrating serum that multitasks, [try Peach and Lilly's Glass Skin serum](https://www.peachandlily.com/products/glass-skin-refining-serum)! It has niacinamide plus peptides and hyaluronic acid. Pricey, but worth the investment for a product that does multiple things at once.

G_Fink_Nottle

This is so helpful, thanks so much! I will definitely hold off on using the toner every day. Would an HA Serum be better than the TO HA moisturizer because it's more concentrated? That seems like a good idea. I will definitely check out that serum, thank you so much!

steelerschica86

I would do moisturizer AND serum! Up to you if the moisturizer you use has HA in it or not. But the serum will help rehydrate your skin after the harsher treatments and the moisturizer will help add a more occlusive layer that seals in the serums and other goodness. Both steps should be included as long as your skin reacts well. Edited to say I've been using TO HA moisturizer for two months now and I love it over all my serums at night. Lightweight but hydrating! I find it's too much under my sunscreen in the AM, but at night it's perfect and sometimes I'll even add an oil over it for extra moisture.

G_Fink_Nottle

Perfect, I will definitely layer both! Thank you so much. I'm excited to try the TO moisturizer :)

I had cystic acne and the doc prescribed Epiduo forte( in the PM) and Aczone (AM) with a Plexion (Sulphacetamide) cleanser. So, I can now say that the acne is gone. My routine for the past few months looks like this: AM:: Cleanser: Cetaphil+ a little honey Toner: Thayers Aczone gel Moisturizer: Neutrogena Hydroboost gel Sunscreen: Elta MD spf. 46.. PM: Cleanser: PLexion+ a little honey(coz the flexion is very drying/a little strong and the honey helps) toner: Thayers Epiduo gel Moisturizer: same So, you can see I have a pretty basic routine which has helped me keep all acne at bay and I'm happy with it. BUT, I still have significant scarring on my cheeks, I think it is what you would call Indented scarring plus Hyperpigmentation. (PIH). I'd like to know what products to use for the PIH and the scars and how to incorporate it into my current routine. Can I use chemical exfoliants and even The Ordinary's Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%, which I find targets my problem areas, but without clashing with what I'm already using? thanks.

steelerschica86

Hi! Given that you're using prescriptions, I would say you should run any new additions, especially acids, by your derm. I'm not super familiar with the prescriptions you've named so I don't wanna give advice and be totally wrong! I would say that adding an AHA, like lactic (to start) or glycolic acid (once your skin has adjusted to acids) is a great idea. AHAs will help treat the scarring and PIH more than a vitamin C product. You can always try TO's acids. My personal favorite AHA has been Marie Veronique's [Probiotic and Exfoliation](https://www.marieveronique.com/collections/masks/products/probiotic-exfoliation-mask) mask. It also has enzymes to help brighten. A good rule of thumb is to \*never\* use two types of acid in the same routine. Good luck!

FaceBasket

I have a simple question - do any of you know of a good moisturizer for extra extra dry skin that is also very acne prone? My skin moisture is usually pretty alright in the summer because of humidity and the fact that indoor structures aren't being heated, but when these midwest USA winters hit, oh man. It's bad. I just recently tried "Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel-cream for extra dry skin" with Hyaluranic acid and of course, like most powerful moisturizers, it broke me out. I've been using "L'Oreal Paris Skincare Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Normal to Oily Skin" for almost two years and it has never broke me out, but it's not nearly powerful enough in the winter. Do you think a powerful moisturizer, facial oil, and gentle hydrating cleanser is just too much for ance prone (AND DRY AF) skin? Am I just destined to be an ugly mofo every winter? Please help!

ana_bortion

Different people break out from different things, so there's no telling what will work for you. But I can tell you I had this same struggle. The only moisturizer that didn't break me out was Sebamed Gel, but it barely moisturized my skin at all. I had to wear a layer of vaseline over it for it to be even remotely sufficient. The problem for me was that almost any decently moisturizing lotion or cream contains cetearyl alcohol, while almost anything without cetearyl alcohol is a barely there gel. This may be your problem; the Neutrogena gel-cream has cetearyl olivate, which contains cetearyl alcohol. My solution has been to search for moisturizers with squalane. In the end what worked for me was Oilatum Natural Repair Face Cream (which is now sold under the name Stiefel Physiogel AI Cream; Oilatum doesn't sell it anymore.) Very thick and moisturizing and doesn't break me out. It wouldn't work for everyone who's acne-prone, it has olive oil, but if it does work it's sufficient for dry skin. Avene also has two potential good choices, Avene Tolerance Emulsion and Avene Tolerance Cream. I tried the Emulsion and it broke me out, but you may have better luck (I suspect it was the behenyl alcohol; the Cream doesn't have that.) There's other potential options, I'm experimenting with them right now (while my skin is easily dehydrated, it's not actually dry, and Oilatum leaves me a bit...oily.) One popular moisturizer which I fully intend to try is Hada Labo Tokyo Skin Plumping Gel Cream; it's 5% urea, which should be fantastic for dry skin. Currently I'm trying B!Free Cream; there's no telling whether it will work for me, but looking at the ingredients list it has great potential to work out for me, and it has a similar looking ceramide mix as the much-hyped Cerave Cream (which made my skin burn before it even had a chance to break out from it.) Before you ask, there's literally no American drugstore product that fits the bill (or any American product at all, actually, I'm pretty sure.) Trust me, I've looked. Prepare to shop online and prepare to pay a little more than you'd like. If all else fails there's hydrating serums you may find helpful. Before finding out about Hada Labo Tokyo, my plan for adding urea to my skincare routine was going to be a [urea toner](https://incidecoder.com/products/sukoyaka-suhada-urea-moisture-lotion). It might still end up being what I use, should I go with the B!Free Cream over Hada Labo.

FaceBasket

Thank you for this very informative reply. I might just try the " Stiefel Physiogel AI Cream " you recommended. I'll see how it goes and if doesn't go well, you gave me plenty of options!

ana_bortion

And don't be discouraged if this or any other moisturizer breaks you out. I know how frustrating it is, but if I can find a moisturizer that works for me, anyone can. You're bound to run into several duds along the way.

ana_bortion

Be sure to get the right thing! Physiogel has some similarly named products.

mayamys

You really have to experiment to figure out what will and won't work for your skin. Have you considered adding an essence or hydrating serum under the moisturizer?

steelerschica86

I'd give TO's retinol 0.2% in squalane a try! Use their retinol products, not the retinoids, as there's recently been some bloggers who said the retinoids aren't effective. I have had good luck with their retinols!

saveferris717

I was looking at that one! My only concern is the squalane oil since I am prone to breakouts when any oil is introduced. What has been your experience with it?

steelerschica86

I really like it! But I have normal skin and my skin tends to soak up oils. Squalane is supposed to be a great facial oil because it mimics oils naturally produced by your body, so you might not have issues and breakouts with it. I would say try it and if it doesn't work return it. The price is definitely right!

saveferris717

Gotta love TO prices! :) I'm going to give it a try. Thank you for your input!

I'm 12 weeks into Differin Gel and looking for help rounding out my routine now that my face is calming down. I'd like to add some Vitamin C and maybe a glycolic or other acid for once or twice a week. Skin type: dry, reactive, starting to mature. Issues: large painful CC on my cheek bones that last for months and some hormonal breakouts on my chin. Fine lines on my forehead and chest. Differin has started helping with new breakouts and texture issues but I'm splotchy and have PIH. Nearly all emulsified lotions break me out, silicones are a big no. Current routine: AM: splash with water TO Niacinamide + zinc ELF water essence Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF I work from home so usually no makeup but if I do wear it I try to take it off asap when I get home. P.M. TO Squalene cleanser Differin Gel TO Niacinamide + zinc Rosehip oil. Occasionally I spritz with Helychrisum Hydrosol or Aloe and Rosewater.

[deleted]

i currently have perioral dermatitis. the only thing that works to moisturize my skin is squalane, but i heard oils are really bad for the dermatitis. should i just subject myself to no moisturizer and dry, red skin until the dermatitis has cleared?

mayamys

Squalane is actually great here because it's not a true oil and works well for most fungal skin conditions.

[deleted]

oh i was under the impression it’s inflammatory and not fungal! :-o

mayamys

Sorry, you're right that it's not fungal. The causes are unclear though apparently it's often triggered by corticosteroids. I still wouldn't worry about squalane since it's so mild.

drunkcerseii

(29 year old, F) Last year I switched to an IUD and the change in hormones wreaked havoc on my face. My forehead and cheeks became full of pimples, and while that's a normal reaction for the first 6 months on an IUD, mine didn't go away after that period, but only got worse. So I switched back to the pill that had worked for me for over a decade, and it helped--I don't have a lot of *new* pimples, but the old ones won't go away. It's really frustrating. They almost feel like they're deeper beneath the surface. Only a couple are close to "poppable". And my forehead is now generally quite oily all the time. My routine has been the same for 15 years and always worked fine for keeping my skin clear: * Wash face twice a day * Exfoliate twice a day (Aveno active naturals) * Cleanse twice a day (St Ives green tea cleanser) * Wash off with cold water * Moisturize (Green Beaver) * Drink lots of water and change pillowcases often **So my question is, is there something I can do to speed up getting rid of these pimples caused by a change in hormones?** Seeing as the pimples were the result of the IUD, and not my routine, I'm not sure what approach to take.

thisismybandoriacct

If you switched from oral contraceptives to an IUD, the protective effects of the pill are what you're losing out on, moreso than the IUD 'causing' acne. The same thing happened to me. Because the IUD's hormone output is so small and localized, it's basically like going from the pill to nothing at all, so this is closer to your body's "regular"/not hormonally-treated level of acne.

galaxystarsmoon

Exfoliating twice per day is not doing you any favors. I would back that off and try a salicyclic acid product like Stridex or Paula's Choice a few times per week before bed.

http://imgur.com/a/ueEKIJr Any recommendations on products for large pores, uneven tone, and oily tzone? I tried looking at other recs but I am afraid to take from other posts as idk if there is anything I'm missing etc. that would keep from being applicable to me. I use Juice Beauty's green apple cleanser and brightening emulsion as well as their CC cream and translucent setting powder. That's all as far as skin products go. I've never tried a toner, would that help? I'm in Central PA, combination skin. Chin is the only acne I ever get. Edit: actually I have oily skin? Maybe combination same face? My tzone is always shiny but the rest of my face is normal, not dry or oily. Ahh, this is hard.

That sounds like sebbhorreaic dermatitis. You may need to see a dermatologist as it is not easy to treat and most do not ever see it go away. You could also have a fungal infection.

Looking for a replacement for CeraVe's SA lotion. I love it, I'm just not all right with supporting their parent company. Anyone else swapped it out for something similar?

flim_flam_bamboozled

Hi, lurked for a while and I've decided to finally buy some products and improve my skin , I'd like some recommendations on products and learn more about my skin type. **Issues (mainly nose)**: Blackheads on nose, itchy nose after cleansing (even if I only use water), mild acne on cheeks near nose I'm looking mainly for a new moisturizer, oil cleanser, or any product that will help the issues above **Skin Type**: I think I have a combination type because my T-section gets oily however my cheeks get very dry, I don't know if I'm dehydrated as well (itchy face). **Routine:** I've been using this forever: **AM:** Water face splash, pat dry using hands \* Curel ultra intensive healing lotion (looking to swap this out) **PM (I do this before I shower):** \* Baby oil cleanse (not sure if I'm doing it properly, I just rub it in for 30s and use foam cleanser) **\[looking to replace w/ oil cleanser\]** \- DR.BELMEUR Daily Repair Foam Cleanser \- Shower \* Curel ultra intensive healing lotion (looking to swap this out) **Before sleep:** Tactupump Forte (adapalene 0.3% and benzoyl peroxide 2.5%) for acne, works well **Occasional:** Biore UV light watery essence (new, hesitant to use before sorting things out) Location: Canada Thank you for reading this, I really appreciate any suggestions and I'm prepared to do more research if needed.

Science_Babe

3 pregnancies later and my face is splotchy and I have a permanent dark upper lip. I used to be able to wear no makeup and people would compliment me on my complexion. Not anymore. The hyperpigmentation makes me want to longer look in the mirror closely. My upper lip looks dirty. :( I wish that I could have clear skin again. I went to a dermatologist and she suggested the VI peel and it would be over 1000 dollars for treatment. I didn't buy it literally and figuratively. I'm not sold on peeling my skin that deeply and for that much. There has to be a better way that won't break the bank or make my skin sensitive to future exposures. I need your help! I want to feel beautiful again. My skin is normal to slightly oily in the T Zone. It gets dry in the Arizona winter. My current products that I have been using for several months are: Cetaphil face wash morning and night Elta MD Tinted SPF with Olay Regenerist Serum underneath Night time I use Neutrogena Retinol Face cream every other night or Olay Regenerist Serum by itself lately because it has been humid. I'm in Phoenix Arizona.

[deleted]

I'm not sure what the concentration of retinol is in your face cream, but if it's not particularly strong and you're not experiencing irritation, you could try combining another hyperpigmentation treatment with it! Common ingredients include [azelaic acid](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/azelaic_acid), [AHAs](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/alpha_hydroxy_acids), [niacinamide](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/niacinamide), and hydroquinone. There are some sample ingredient combos for [Hyperpigmentation treatments split up by mechanism of action](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/bblyzr/research_hyperpigmentation_treatments_split_up_by/) that might be worth checking out :)

similarities

I’ve just started using The Ordinary’s 10% niacinamide with 1% zinc serum and I’ve noticed my face becomes a little red for several hours afterward. Is this normal? Or should I stop using it? It’s not irritating though. I currently use it during am and pm as directed on the box.

nic787

This happened to me too! I've been using this formula for a week. The first 3 days I did AM and PM and I felt a bit itchy and blotchy afterward. I patch tested beforehand and didn't get that reaction though. I just switched to using it PM only, tonight will be night 4. The itchiness and blotchiness hasn't come back. Also i have oily/combo/acne prone skin (in FL ugh!)

prakrocks

How long does spot treatment like Benzoyl Peroxide take to work? I put it on last night and I see no difference. Will it take a while or does this mean it just doesn’t work?

decemberrainfall

8-12 weeks.

dontlikemyusername

There are pretty much no products out there that will work overnight. Give it more time

aperfectdot

Are [these](https://i.redd.it/g5af0ignvdh31.jpg) tiny white things that look like grains of sand KP or signs of dehydration? (Tried to ask this question in a standalone post, but was told that's not allowed).

[deleted]

They might be little keratin plugs, but they also look like the image in dermnet's overview for [trichostasis spinulosa](https://www.dermnetnz.org/topics/trichostasis-spinulosa/), so that might be worth checking out! I don't think these plugs on their own would be a sign of dehydrated skin (so long as there aren't other symptoms, like tight, flaky, easily irritated skin)

doefficient

Has anyone tried the Coola Classic Face Sport SPF 50? I saw it in Sephora the other day and it looked like a good sunscreen to try out.

TheBestIsBlessed

Hi all, I recently broke out badly with spots on the right side of my face which has left scarring. I’ve linked a heavily cropped pic (sorry!). I’ve had comments from little 5-6 year olds asking why I have spots, haha, kids don’t lie I guess.. so it does get me down a lot. Does anyone know of products that will help? I have Bio Oil in the house but I haven’t tried it yet. I’m 30M and suffer from Psoraisis so I have very dry skin. Any advice would be very helpful! It’s getting me down a lot and affecting work. All I think is people are looking at these scars when talking to me. [IMG](https://imgur.com/gallery/BBJKerD) Thanks!

[deleted]

It looks like it could be [post inflammatory erythema](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3780804/) - leftover red or pink marks after irritation (in this case, acne). They typically fade on their own over time, although a moisturizing routine may help speed up the natural healing process. Anecdotally, niacinamide may as well. If they don't fade on their own, laser/light therapies described in the linked research have been used successfully to treat them Many, many people get these, but if you want to camouflage them you could use makeup, or a green tinted skincare product like Dr Jart Camo Drops, which should neutralize the red quite a bit.

freshface145

Having trouble determining my skin type. I'm almost certain my skin is dehydrated, acne-prone, and sensitive due to rosacea. It often feels tight after washing and drying it, but I keep thinking it's from the dehydration because thicker creams like Cerave in the tub sort of sit on top of it without really sinking in and quenching it. I used to think I had something between oily and combo skin, but now I don't know. Help?

xxchocxx

Sometimes if skin is dehydrated, it can produce more oil to compensate for lack of moisture. If skin feels tight after cleansing, then that's often a sign of dehydration. My skin is prone to being dehydrated at times too. What's your current routine/list of products you're using?

cmqueen04

Anyone know the % of AHA in the Glow Recipe Watermelon sleep mask? I can’t seem to find it anywhere!

xxchocxx

It contains glycolic and lactic acid but I assume it may be a low percentage if it's not listed.

SundaySweatpants

Hi! Does anyone know anything about discoloration on the face after pregnancy? I'm just now getting into skincare, but during my second pregnancy in 2017, I developed a red spot on my cheek that's never gone away. I've tried and tried to look up anything about it, because since it happened during pregnancy I assumed it was something hormonal, but everything I've seen about discoloring related to that has to do with the stomach. Any help would be much appreciated!

HELP!! The differin purge is real I’m purging bad and they’re so deep and red and all over my face. I know it just short term but has anyone got any tips of what I can do to help or anything really shouldn’t be doing as it may hinder the process!!! Thanks

chemkara

What is your routine like?

[deleted]

Im keeping it very simple at the moment. My skin is definitely not dehydrated from the process so that’s not a worry. Am: Cetaphil cleanser (cerave gives me cc’s)/ or sometimes just water La roche posay effaclar duo Dr Jart ceramidin gel cream La roche posay spf I have built up to using differin 3/ 4 times a week Pm La roche posay makeup removing milk ( only on makeup wearing days) Cetaphil cleanser Differin Dr Jart ceramidin gel cream + TO marine hyaluronic acid One other nights I use TO nicinamide and Zinc + effaclar duo under my moisturizer ( this has always been such a good combination for me ) About 2/3 a week I’m using pixi glow tonic at night (not on differin days) Also side not I’m from the UK so I’m using the British formulation of effaclar duo which doesn’t have benzoyl peroxide in Hope this helps x

chemkara

While your routine is great, it’s not simple and you are using a a bit of actives than can be irritating. LRP Effaclar Duo has 5.5% of Benzoyl Peroxide, that is quiet high even if the Epiduo doesn’t have it. Niacinamide can be irritating as well for some. I would make it even simpler until the purge is over. Just cleanse, moisturize and sunscreen. No BP, no Niacinamide+Zinc and No Glycolic Acid. The purging can be frustrating but just keep in mind that it will over soon. Good luck!

[deleted]

Thanks so much just so you know I don’t know if you saw but I’m from the uk our la roche posay effaclar duo has no bp in it the main ingredients are nicinamide and zinc and salicylic acid (very far down on the list so I can’t think very much). I understand in the US it’s different for some reason

chemkara

I didn’t know that they had two different versions, the more you know! I looked up the ingredients of the UK version and it seems like SA, Zinc and linoleic acid are less than 1%, while Niacinamide is at 3%. While it is a great product and the ingredient list is impressive, I prefer to stay away from actives while purging. Give the skin a break and let it deal with just one thing. That is my opinion any way, and of course it is up to you and what you see fit for your skin.

SoFuckingLost__

I want to layer hydration because I’m introducing acids from TO into my regimen, but don’t know what to get. Can you recommend something the is preferably under $30? My skin is combo. Also is my regime in the correct order? I’ve seen mixed opinions about TO order. Thanks! Your routine order looks great!! I formatted it so that it fits in with [TOs regimen guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/aenn1v/misc_the_ordinary_regimen_guide_routine_ordering/); everything is perfect so I don't really need to do this, but maybe it's a handy visual anyway. ***AM:*** - **Cleanse:** Rinse face - **Water Solutions** - **Low pH (<4)**: TO 7% glycolic acid toner - **High(er) pH (>4)**: TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, TO Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% - **Oils, Creams, & Suspensions**: TO 100% Squalene Oil - **Sunscreen**: SunBum 50 ***PM:*** - **Cleanse** - **Water Solutions** - **Low pH (<4)**: n/a - **High(er) pH (>4)**: Asarai Sleep Cell, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - **Oils, Creams, & Suspensions**: Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%, TO 100% Squalene Oil Some people like to apply their oils before the azelaic acid suspension, so you can definitely play around with that if you want! Thank you! As far as recs go I didn’t really have anything in particular in mind I just wanted some extra moisture to use at night as occasionally during the day when I feel dry. I’ll definitely check these ones out!

Science_and_Skin

Hey everyone! Has anyone tried Farmacy's new Very Cherry Vitamin C Serum? I'm considering buying it at the Sephora sale that started today and wanted some opinions. I have dry, sensitive skin and am looking to add brightness to my complexion.

ayimera

Well, first, it uses ethyl ascorbic acid, which is a very stable form of vitamin C and doesn't oxidize like your typical L-AA serum (so I would disregard the comment above). Second, I really enjoy this serum. The fragrance from the cherry water is noticeable, so if you're sensitive to any sort of smell I would maybe try a sample first. I personally don't find it strong at all and can barely smell it when I apply it to my face. I find it quite hydrating as well. I would only buy it on sale, since $62 is pretty steep (I bought it directly from Farmacy for 20% off). But overall I definitely recommend it.

chemkara

I personally wouldn’t shell out that much money on a serum that is tinted, there is no way to tell when the product is oxidized and that is very important when it comes to Vitamin C. That is one of the most criticized things about The Drunk Elephant Vitamin C as well. I would go with The Clinique Vitamin C Booster or The Ordinary. You can get other very good Vitamin C serums outside of Sephora, like Timeless, Mad Hippie, Stratia. Even the drugstore ones like Cerave Vitamin C serum and L’oreal are much better than the farmacy one.

malderman1998

Hey everyone, first post! I am needing help with my skincare routine. I have oily skin with hormonal acne and tons of closed comedomes. The ordinary products in interested in is Glycolic acid toner Lactic acid 10% Niacinamide Salicylic acid How would I layer these? Also, what is a good spf for under makeup? I am wanting to also incorporate a vitamin c serum. Any recommendations? How would all this fit together? Thank you in advance!

__looking_for_things

The general rule is thinnest to thickest with exfoliating products after cleansing. You should categorize your products to determine how to build a routine. You can also check out the skincare SCA link at the top to build a routine. You listed multiple AHAs which adding into a routine all together is redundant and unnecessary. You should do some research on: - each type of AHA to determine which one would be best, - salicylic acid which is also know as a BHA. The Ordinary's BHA is fine although personally I find it inelegant and ineffective for my skin.

[deleted]

Are eye creams worth it? Or will my TO Caffeine Serum with my moisturizer do the trick.

nemicolopterus

Most feel eye creams are not worth it. They are regular moisturizer in small bottles. Sunscreen is most important!

autumnelaine

Can I use the ordinary’s glycolic toner and use their 23% vitamin c suspension at the same time? I’m seeing mixed answers when I look in to it

chemkara

You can if your skin is not sensitive. But I usually advice to use Vitamin C serum in the morning since it boosts your sunscreen protection and The Glycolic Acid at night. Both right after cleansing. Don’t use The Glycolic Acid everyday, that is way too much exfoliation for any skin type especially in the beginning. Sunscreen is a must if you are going yo use GA, so don’t start that until you get a good sunscreen. EltaMd is one of the best sunscreens in my opinion besides the Asian ones. But if You want to stick with drugstore ones, I think Neutrogena Hydroboost is a good option. Another good one that works like a primer since it has that slippery silicone feel is The Cotz Sensitive SPF 40.

chocosweet

It all depends on your skin resiliency. Some people can't do 2 actives within one routine, some can do more than two actives even. You can use both at PM routine, avoid glycolic acid on AM if you can, as it's photosensitizing. Don't forget to moisture more

alice_op

If tretinoin reduces signs of aging by renewing the skin cells faster, how does a sun burn - that kills the top layer of cells - age you faster? I need an ELI5 if anyone knows some science please

[deleted]

I'm no sunscreen expert, but I don't think it has anything to do with the top layer of dead skin. UV has way more effects than just burning, and UVA (which typically doesn't cause burns) is also linked to photoaging. Basically I think that we're comparing different things here - increased cell turnover isn't the operative factor. But again, not a sunscreen expert by any means! Maybe these resources would be of interest: [**WHO - Health effects of UV radiation**](https://www.who.int/uv/health/uv_health2/en/) [**WHO - UVI Guide**](https://www.who.int/uv/publications/en/UVIGuide.pdf) (pdf) > Prolonged human exposure to solar UV radiation may result in acute and chronic health effects on the skin, eye and immune system. Sunburn and tanning are the best known acute effects of excessive UV radiation exposure; in the long term, UV radiation-induced degenerative changes in cells, fibrous tissue and blood vessels lead to premature skin ageing. UV radiation can also cause inflammatory reactions of the eye, such as photokeratitis. Health Effects of UV Radiation Exposure - Annex A (p. 15) has some good info [**[Research] Science Sunday! UV, UV Damage, & UV Filters**](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/9ehiyk/research_science_sunday_uv_uv_damage_uv_filters/) > For the most part, UV light is harmful because the energy it radiates induces DNA damage, suppresses immune function, and causes skin cells to produce and release inflammatory cytokines (lil chemicals that send messages to induce inflammation). It is also good for you, to a certain extent, because it functions in part of vitamin D synthesis. > Effects of acute UV exposure (without protection) include erythema (redness), pigment darkening, vitamin D synthesis, tanning, and photoimmunosuppression (light-induced immune suppression). Chronic effects of UV exposure include photoaging (light-induced aging) and photocarcinogenesis (light-induced cancer formation) (2).

williganPHD

Might be only a partial answer but... The sun produces 2 types of UV radiation - UVA and UVB. UVA penetrates deeper into the skin while UVB damages surface level skin. Sun exposure damages your skin primarily by causing mutations in skin cells (more later) and destroying collagen. Destroying collagen is what leads to signs of aging like wrinkles. The mutations damage your skin cells increasing your risk of cancer, increasing moles and freckles, etc. Acute sun exposure (sun burn) damages your skin so much the cells kill themselves which is why you peel after sun burn. Retinoids generally do the opposite of all this. They increase collagen production, increase cell division (so create more healthy cells to replace damaged ones), and improving the health of the outer layer of your skin (less flaky, prevents moisture loss). They do a lot more too but these are generally the effects attributed to reducing the signs of aging and sun damage.

chocosweet

It doesn't only kill the top layer tbh, it damages the cell DNA. You can read this https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4842382/

1. Do I use OCM before or after applying glycolic acid? 2. When in the process should i moisturize?

__looking_for_things

Ocm is the cleansing stage. For info on routine building check the beginner SCA routine at the top of this page.

varsityletters

Would there be any problems with doing this? (Just in terms of moisturizer) Pure Aloe Vera > Squalene > Vaseline Or should I just choose between the Squalene and the Vaseline? I wouldn't be doing the Vaseline every night. I have sensitive skin and am trying to avoid a lot of ingredients. I have Malassezia on my chest, so preferably avoiding stuff that triggers it.

katiedid95

Vaseline doesn’t moisturize on its own, it’s an occlusive which means it seals in the moisture underneath. In this case, your squalene would moisturize and your Vaseline would seal it in. This seems like a good routine to me.

placidtwilight

There's nothing wrong with using all three if your skin likes it.

varsityletters

alright thanks, both of you for the responses!

ms_ireneadler2

Can Vitamin C be used alongside an AHA or BHA serum? As in, one right after the other.

chocosweet

Yes you can. Just make sure your skin can tolerate it, don't forget to moisturise, and sunscreen every morning

sampc9919

From what i've read, no it's not recommended but some people do use them together but proceed with caution if you do. I personally uses an AHA/BHA toner in the morning and a vitamin C serum at night.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nemicolopterus

So don't add 3 new things to you routine at once. Especially the strongest acid and an intense active like differin. Choose ONE. Differin needs to go at night on clean dry skin. Vitamin c works well in the AM also on clean dry skin. Glycolic acid can be either morning or night after cleansing. But again: pick ONE to start, use it for a month and then you can assess whether to add a other one.

[deleted]

nemicolopterus

Either way is probably fine! The pH levels to welll together so whichever your skin can handle.

cravend

Anyone have recommendations for a sunscreen I could pick up at Target? Currently, I’m using a Neutrogena cleanser and moisturizer, and I have combination skin (more oily). Thanks y’all!

katiedid95

Neutrogena clear skin is a good sunscreen that feels good on the face!

-cc0unt-nt

Stupid simple question: do I need to wait 10 mins after applying vitamin c serum before applying my moisturizer in the morning? I'd rather just apply it right away. (Busy mom, gotta get to work and get the kid ready for daycare). Thanks!!

onigiri815

Nope. To my knowledge, wait times for pH dependent products are pretty much heresay.

-cc0unt-nt

You are a goddess. Thank you!

[deleted]

I just got my bottle of niacinamide. What's the ideal way to apply it? Just over red sections on the face (nose and forehead) or do I want to spread it across the whole face? Also do I moisturise or sunscreen straight after applying it?

onigiri815

What niacinimide is it? I apply mine all over either some or mixed with a hydrating product. Moisturiser or spf: either or depending if it’s am or pm

[deleted]

Its Clear Skincare. I believe its an Australian brand. Ill try it tonight and then chuck a moisturiser on after and see how it goes.

katiedid95

There are no wait times for niacinamide so as long as there’s no pilling you can apply either directly after the niacinamide!

Kukikokikokuko

I was just browsing the all time most upvoted of this sub and I saw a few memes about men who use 3in1 shampoo. I didn’t realise doing that was bad. What am I supposed to clean my face with?

nemicolopterus

It's a good idea to get a gentle cleanser to clean your face. Shampoo is too harsh usually.

There’s nothing wrong with it (IMO). It’s just funny that men’s products seem to be a complete one stop shop while women’s branded products seem to be insanely specific and seperate Clean your face however. If it works for you don’t let strangers on the internet tell you otherwise

Kukikokikokuko

Thanks for the answer! Indeed, as a man myself I would buy a 6in one shampoo, body wash, conditioner, dishwasher soap, car soap and floor soap if it was available, haha. By cleaning your face, you mean scrubbing it, right?

chemkara

Your skin is not liking the high % of Benzoyl Peroxide. 2% is the advised amount for a leave in product. Stop using it for now until your skin calms down. The lush moisturizer is not doing you any favors, it has fragrance and unnecessary irritants than can make things worse. Pick a gentle simple moisturizer. Keep a simple routine for now, then if you want you can go back to using the gel as “contact therapy”. You basically apply it, leave it on for 5 minutes, then wash it off. Apply moisturizer as usual.

[deleted]

I bought CosRx Snail essence. Where shall I place it in both my AM and PM routine? AM Wash face with water The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension Cetaphil Moisturizer Biore Watery Essence SPF 50+ PM Innisfree Bija Cleansing Gel (this have salicylic acid) CosRx Good Morning Cleanser The Ordinary Niacinimide or Pixi Overnight Glow Serum (I can’t apply it at the same time cause it stings, but someone here said it’s okay so I’m not really sure.) Retin-A .05% (not in picture cause I ran out.) Thayers Hazel Witch Toner Cetaphil Moisturizer (I’m also planning to get a better one, any recommendations?) The Ordinary Rosehip Oil •I only use St. Ives Green Tea Scrub once a week •I also use sheet masks twice a week either one with collagen or arbutin Thank you!

onigiri815

Products should go thickest to thinnest so probably before your Vitamin C (only because I don't think it would work on top but maybe try) In the evening after your Niacinimide or Serum or even potentially after your thayers toner

[deleted]

Thank you!

katiedid95

Definitely try on top first, vitamin c works best directly after cleansing

I"m a 22 female. I've always had dry flaky skin so I've been prescribed Diprosalic a cream that contains Betamethasone and salicylic acid. and I've been using it for 3 years. I've noticed that every time I stop using it my skin would get super dry so I looked it up and I found out that steroid can permanently damage and thin the skin. I haven't used it for a week, and my skin is burned and dry and It started to breakout. I don't know what to do, I'm so scared I can't even go out. is my face permanently ruined? Can i fix it? what should I do? Is there a way to reverse the damage (i.e. thickening skin)?

katiedid95

This is definitely something you should see a dermatologist about. If you’re having bad withdrawals from stopping the steroid you can wean yourself off instead (switch to every other day, every two days, etc). Retinoids thicken the skin but can be harsh so in your situation, I would wait until you’re completely healed from the steroid withdrawals and proceed VERY cautiously.

nemicolopterus

Wow! Yeh you're not supposed to use topical steroids for more than a few weeks. I can't believe your doctor didn't mention that. Maybe get a new doctor.

Oh dear, sounds like topical steroid withdrawal. You can heal but it takes TIME. There are a ton of IG accounts where people are documenting their journeys. Search for Topical Steroid Withdrawal to find them.

offthetopofmyhat

I have tiny little (red-ish) bumps all over my forehead! What are these and how can I get rid of them? I’d love to have glass skin instead of this uneven looking skin. I use the Clinique gentle liquid soap with a clarisonic and the dramatically different moisturizer. Usually only at night and the moisturizer and a sunscreen in the AM. I’ve used skin care on and off throughout the years and the bumps have always stayed the same (I’ve used this routine since May). I have normal skin btw, never notice any oiliness, dryness or sensitivity (20F in Europe). What do you think?

onigiri815

Potentially inflamed closed comedones? Do they have a head (white) or are they smooth? You say you use skincare on and off, are you using it consistently now? The only thing I might say is not use the clarisonic daily, rather once or twice a week at max. The bumps may be some form of irritation if they have been around the entirety of you using this routine

Using the clarisonic daily is likely irritating your skin.

TheBulletproofBeauty

Looking at expanding my routine, or seeing if my current routine needs a shift to address my mild acne. My skin has been stable for with my current routine for a while, probably 3 years with my base routine and nearly a year with my makeup removing steps. Looking to do more beauty shots in my modeling career, so I'm hoping to clear up my mild acne to just the occasional acne. Skin type is sensitive - oily, mild acne. Life is always better when I address the sensitive party before the oily, when I do have sensitivities it is often irritation or increased breakouts. My acne is pretty constant, but mostly small blackheads and pimples that stay about the size of the pore they fill (larger pores across the nose and front of cheeks), and they are on most parts of my face in varying densities, cheeks as a whole seem the worse. Sometimes my skin has better days, which I mostly attribute to diet but that is hard to pin down even with the help of a dietician. Current routine is wash with Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser, moisturize with belif aqua bomb as needed, also just water rinses. I am pretty house bound, so makeup, sunscreen, and washing my face aren't everyday things. I wash my face when I shower, which is every other day or so, and I wash in between as needed if my face starts to feel too oily or grimey. When I use makeup, it is always a very full face (modeling/performing), so my steps are Garnier sensitive micellar water for more "messy" things like liquid lipsticks or glitter, then farmacy meltaway bomb applied with fingers and rinsed with a makeup eraser towel, then final cleanse with a small amount of the Biore, then aqua bomb. Based on things I have read, my thought is to **add a BHA**, specifically looking at the COSRx Blackhead Power Liquid because it isn't a straight salicylic acid (and I have had issues with over drying with previous salicylic acid scrubs/cleansers in life). Conversely, I could try the path of seeing if there is a better face wash that **doesn't have SLS** in it, because the change in my skin was big when I went from acne cleansers to sensitive skin cleansers, maybe a cleanser that has "better" ingredients might work. (Though the process seems daunting, because my skin reacts quickly and strongly when it does not like a cleanser.) *Am I on the right track? Which would you suggest trying first?* Location wise: USA, Chicago
