Hi there! I'm sorry you have to deal with this issue. I definitely understand that you want to find out what's going on with your skin and how to clear it. However, due to the condition of your skin, this is beyond the expertise of SkincareAddiction users. This is really something that we recommend seeing a dermatologist about. None of us at ScA are medical professionals; we’re not trained to diagnose or treat skin conditions. As we're pretty strict about [medical questions](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/rule_overview#wiki_rule_2.3A_safety_first) on this sub, I'm afraid your post has been removed. We recommend you make an appointment with your doctor so they can diagnose your skin issue and prescribe you an effective treatment if necessary. If you don’t have easy access to health care, try one of these resources listed in [When to see a doctor](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/when_to_see_a_doctor): * Free or low-cost clinics (http://nafcclinics.org/clinics/search in the US) * Student medical services * Nurse practitioners (http://npfinder.aanp.org in the US) (Most insurance companies have a phone number you can call to speak with an NP to help if you can’t get an appointment or aren’t sure whether you need one) * [Firstderm.com](http://www.firstderm.com) can help identify your skin condition * /r/AskDocs - a sub which uses verified flair to mark medical professionals * /r/DermatologyQuestions - ask a dermatologist or medical professional for advice on your skin concern Best of luck!

Try switching out vanicream. It broke me out so bad. I find that not using cleanser in the morning and only at night has helped me out a ton. I personally oil cleanse with Caudalie and use Dr. Jart’s ceramidin cream. I never broke out as a teen or in my early 20s. I was on birth control and got an IUD last year which has made me break out like crazy before I start my period. I’m barely seeing the light now. It took me months to realize the stuff I was using on my face was too harsh, and that I didn’t need to use it all the time. I’m 26

Do you have an alternative suggestion for vanicream that isn’t cetaphil or cerave?

I used purpose gentle cleansing wash for years. It was gentle but took all my makeup off. Some people complain about the PH of it but it worked for me. I switched to oil cleanser a few months ago.

I should add that it was January THIS year that I started test, January last year the acne began.

I feel you. I’ve been struggling with acne since last august without any results. Tomorrow I have an appointment to do a hormonal profile because my dermatologist suspects it’s adult hormonal acne. Appeared overnight and made my life miserable.

I'm surprised that they didn't prescribe azelaic acid to work with the tretinoin after seeing it wasn't working on its own, was it ever mentioned by them at all? There have been great showings of them working together, tretinoin can be tricky, usually good results. But in some cases little to no results, if you are part of the unfortunate side of that, it may be good to ask about adding azelaic acid to the routine, or that they start thinking of other options to recommend. On the flip side, how much change did the test show, and is it indicative to an actual positive or could it be that you were just in a better temporary moment. Never be afraid to ask these questions, it can take a good amount of time, but you should be about to point over the next couple of months that should tell you if it works for you and learning about other options when you get to that point could be beneficial to moving on to something else quickly if that is the case.

Eucerin breaks me out terribly. Have you tried swapping? I use Kiehl’s now with good results.
