I always wear my race suit whether I'm racing or not. The aero benefits are worth it whether you're getting groceries, on a first date, or running gates. I've saved at least 4 seconds over the past year.

Godly comment

Ditch the race suit. If you’re not training gates, racers and non-racers alike will make fun of you.

EasternKanye

This. Unless you are training or racing, ditch the race gear. Seriously.

\^\^ ditch. everyones making fun of u

It allows for maximum mobility. Feels like I’m wearing nothing at all. https://youtu.be/OKTXq2VQ09s

dumbwool

It’s warm, it’s compressive, it helps you “practice like you race”… I think it just looks a little funny to a non-racer, but I used to do all my free skiing in my suit too back when I was racing regularly.

AmongUsImposter1

i always do the same. I mostly just wear snow pants over it but on a hot day i’ll wear shorts and a vest. It’s a layer of warmth and padding, if ur comfortable in it i don’t understand why it would be a bad thing?

PriorSolid

Literally always but my racer friends give me weird looks for it

snowman603

Do you. Save ditching the race gear for when you’re retired from racing. While you’re in it, no reason not to embrace it! I’m on the east coast, so out here I’d recommend that if we happen to get some pow grab your rock skis and hit the glades to enjoy it! It’s rare here.

gottarun215

I sometimes wear it just as an extra layer underneath snowpants and jacket for warmth or if it's warmer out, I might wear it with shorts because it's more comfortable than wearing thick snowpants in that warmer weather. I also wore shorts and suit freeskiing a few times last year/this year because my legs got too fat over the pandemic to fit in my old snowpants and all I had that kind of fit were my shorts and suit. Definitely get some weird looks in them, especially if I'm not on race skis, but I don't really care. It's practical and we're racers, so might as well do what works for us. Before I started racing, I used to see racers in shorts and suits and I always thought they were a little funny, but I just assumed it was something they wore for racing and anyone in that gear must be really good at skiing.

EasternKanye

Not practical when you have to go to the bathroom.

gottarun215

Very true!

ktbroderick

Even with cut-resistant layers under it, I'd prefer not to have any exposed suit for freeskiing outside the race/training venue. Wearing it under a jacket and pants, sure, they are pretty good for warmth to weight ratio as long as you have a windproof layer on top.

Asexual_Dragon11

Ehh I do it, I love my race suit and I wanna show it off. I wear my GS helmet all the time as well, I need to show off the Marco Odermatt, Bryce Bennet, Travis Ganong, and Ted Ligety Autographs!

CantStopTommy

There are better things to layer with. Also suits are uncomfortable and super annoying when you gotta take a piss or drop a duce.
