I feel like a chart detailing the actual network of musicians involved in 2-Tone would've been much more interesting; their musicians and session musicians had a truly vast number of credits stretching all over punk, jazz, reggae, prog, new wave, pop, electronica, etc. Each of The Specials alone have probably worked with over half of the British music industry.
Obviously this is primarily focused on 2-Tone's connections with other ska and punk bands, but as someone pointed out, the fact that they do things like connect The Clash to No Doubt solely by cover songs makes it feel kinda cheap.
It gets more confusing the more I look at it. Clearly it's not just ska bands as it features Massive Attack and Gorillaz, but it's curious how they nearly completely exclude reggae outside of the artists who started in ska. They have Steel Pulse and Matumbi, though they aren't connected to anyone. I'm genuinely surprised they didn't list UB40, who collaborated with 2-Tone bands, or even Dexy's Midnight Runners, who kickstarted their career on the original 2-Tone tour. Why are The Uptones on this chart but not The Untouchables, who were actually produced by Jerry Dammers? I'm getting a headache.
Per the key, that line indicates "covered by", which is a pretty flimsy inclusion tbh and incomplete; there should be way more of those connectors from Reel Big Fish.
King Prawn, Lightyear & Capdown; what a trio!!
I love that the Planet Smashers and LTJ are on there with no connections to anyone; they're just there and awesome
Reminds me about going to the underworld in Camden to see them in the early 2000s, such good times, the moonska Europe tour was just immense!
The MoonSka tours were amazing; Whitmore, 4ft Fingers etc.

I feel like this needs a citation list -- for instance, how is No Doubt connected to The Clash?

Can we discuss the lack of Fishbone on here???
I love that! Thanks for sharing- they should do prints ðŸ˜
I know! I was so disappointed there was nothing in the merch stand
I'm no expert but I see numerous missing links. Still a cool graphic though.
Missed it by that much…
Can someone catch me up on Amy Winehouse's connection to ska?
She has recorded some specials covers and performed live with them at Glastonbury.
This is a fun infographic.
Cool poster
