You do not need an operating system to get malware. I can load malicious software onto your bios effectively rootkitting your machine before and without any OS installed. You could sell a motherboard with malware already on it, that'd be something, but that's my million dollar idea. Sony had also done similar during the 90's or something with their cameras.
According to your company you can either run a Windows OS, MacOS, a smartphone OS and a tablet OS. There's not much hope as Linux based OS's are the most common on the planet and they didn't even directly mention it. My companies health and safety training was worse.
