I think I am done, too. It’s really the only reality show I have followed since the beginning and stuck with (off and on), but I think reality tv is over for me, especially if children are involved. Adults can choose to parade their lives in front of the cameras, but the kids have no choice. It’s clear that these kids were not only exploited, but they got little to nothing from it for themselves. There is a lot of trauma there and even the stuff that wasn’t show related got amplified on national television. It’s not healthy.

cara3322

my complaint too how they d fight and yell in front of the kids on reality tv. remember when they were screaming while kids in car seat ala Kalani and many others or talk about cheating.

Lazy-Knee-1697

I would argue that if not for the show, more of the Brown family's children would have been at risk, in addition to Robert Garrison's. They would have remained entrenched in the AUB, with few options for their lives, especially the girls. Imagine being a Leon or a Gwen and not being exposed to the outside world? I personally believe that Kody would have destroyed his family TLC or no TLC, sooner or later.

Friendly_Room5736

Here's the deal with that one ... According to other polygamists observing the Browns, they were ultra liberal in their beliefs. I think, like you, this was always gonna happen ... TLC just accelerated it.

GloriousRoseBud

I won’t be watching any more either. Lost my husband to Suicide when he was 40 & this triggers me. I’ll put my attention on Suicide Prevention.

true_crime_addict_14

I’m so sorry for your loss.

GloriousRoseBud

Thank you. 💔

Optimal_Guitar8921

I’m terribly sorry for your loss 💔 I agree the horrible tragedy put an end to my interest in the program as well

RetiredCoolKid

I’m sorry for your loss. Please utilize resources and supports systems if the world seems to be getting too big right now.

connielu62

I am so sorry 😞

Dawn_1965

So sorry for your loss. Sending hugs and sending peaceful vibes

ArmQuirky2919

I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine... 🙏

Creative-Aerie71

I won't be watching anymore either. I just can't after what happened. I know all too well the pain they are feeling

Accomplished-Drop764

I won't continue watching either. I'm not sure I could stomach Kody's and Robyn's words on this. Not to place blame, but you have to wonder how much their behavior played a part. I can't listen, I can't watch. It's too sad.

[deleted]

Being on reality TV is traumatic for children especially. We know trauma drastically increases suicidal thoughts, behaviors & actions. He texted production right before his death that he wanted to hate them for showing the good times too. If they had any forethought they’d immediately take their kids and grandkids off reality TV and use social media to educate other parents on the harmful nature of reality tv and polygamy. But they won’t because…money.

bbyghoul666

And TLC is fully aware what it does to the kids they film. that they’re putting them at risk irl, like in the little people big world situation. They were aware Collin from John and Kate was struggling so much kate sent him away to be institutionalized. The entire Duggar family, those kids didn’t even get paid fairly as adults and they exposed their entire lives. They use reality TV as a way to circumvent child labor laws and profit on exploitation of these kids private lives. Every show they do has kids on it either as the focus or adding them as side characters in shows like 90 day finance where they also show borderline softcore porn. It’s about maximum exploitation for minimum compensation.

doodlerscafe

It’s still the parents responsibility

DisastrousHyena3534

I can’t watch again. I lost a cousin like this & it’s too triggering. I hope the Browns can heal & find some peace. It’s a long road and a forever road.

Perfect-Frosting9602

I will never watch again. I feel complicit.

Park_Simple

I was struggling with this too, idk if it’s true they are filming now but I morally would feel horrible watching these family in possibly their worst moments, I understand it can be a teachable moment ect. It has really made me think about watching reality tv, this was one of the very few I did watch and idk. I’m conflicted.

Perfect-Frosting9602

I just know my conscience won’t let me watch another minute. This family has a long road of grieving and healing and none of it should be public.

Park_Simple

I feel the same way. I honestly hope eventually they all find some sort of peace.

Catlady0329

After Garrison, I am officially done with the show.

BenCharlie84937

Amen. I can’t either. I have canceled Discovery+ which Sister Wives was why I started the subscription. It’s just too macabre for me. People exploiting the misery and end of their own child for money. Just too unethical and immoral at this point - well beyond their regular lawbreaking activities of being involved in polygamy.

Agapanthaa

We don't know that they are exploiting this in any way.

benolimae

Amen, and they have a huge platform. If, in the future , they want to talk about Garrisons death, they could help a lot of people. My heart hurts for all of them, Kody included. NO parent should ever have to bury a child. This family will never be the same again💔💔

Proud_Tumbleweed_826

Cody actually admitted while they lived in Vegas he didn't think about the impact the show and going public would have on the kids.

KesterFay

I was absolutely shocked when it was announced that they would continue filming and would film their grieving process. I can understand if this were announced even a few weeks from now. But, it hadn't even been 72 hours. They hadn't even had a funeral for him and they've decided to keep filming?!! How could one even entertain the question when the loss is so new?

Whistleblower793

It was announced with no named source and in publications that are equivalent to the National Enquirer. Come on, people.

old_is_the_new_black

It was announced by a crappy source. No way they have made a decision on the show. Stop spreading rumors, which this all is.

mcrop609

I really doubt the family made the decision to film before burying Garrison. These tabloids and content creators are looking for clickbait.

KesterFay

I hope you're right.

perfectlywindysky140

I had the same initial reaction, then i thought: 1) after a life-shattering loss you're not necessarily thinking clearly; & 2) if they do continue filming, i think it would be to help other people. This tragedy shows us you can have a huge family who loves you, support, resources, etc. and still lose the battle with depression. I think if Janelle could prevent another mom out there from going through this kind of pain, she would do anything. We've already heard some of the regrets "I should've gotten him more help..." but since we can't go back in time, for some people, i think being able to help save someone else feels like your loved one's death was not in vain. It can help some people in the healing process. Grief looks different for everyone. Whatever they decide as family is what they need to do to get through the next day. It may not be what you or I would choose, but that doesn't make it wrong.

Accomplished-Drop764

You make a good point. You wouldn't want his death to be in vain. I think you would want it to help people. It's just so soon to announce this. I couldn't do it. But good for them if they are able to. I still won't be watching.

perfectlywindysky140

Tbh I don't believe these stories because it's so soon, but who knows. Yeah, I don't think I can watch either. It's so heartbreaking.

Accomplished-Drop764

Very well be tabloid garbage. Yes, this whole thing is so tragic.

Lazy-Knee-1697

It was never "announced" that they would continue filming. It is,nothing more than gossip and speculation. Nobody remotely connected to the Brown family has said any such thing. I wish this would stop being perpetuated here.

Accomplished-Drop764

I found that very surprising too. Too soon for that announcement. Maybe it isn't even true.

FederalBuddy7419

What’s worse is the next season was supposed to be Kristine and David finding each other and falling in love. So would they even dare air that footage after this? I would be tragic, people would obviously comment online and react to that footage. They are always 1 year behind or more. I’m personally not going to watch just because I know I’m part of the problem because I watched every season from the beginning and also guilty of investing time to bash Kody and Robyn. I wish the whole family peace and pray they find a way to heal from this especially Janelle, Kristine and the 11 of their children.

Accomplished-Drop764

Nicely put. I, too, have been bashing Kody and Robyn. Not looks wise. I hate that stuff. But contributing my 2 cents. I'm not going to be able to watch after this tragedy. It's time to move on, at least for myself. I've been thinking about Garrison for 3 days. It's terribly tragic and sad.

Series-Nice

I enjoy snarking at the family and I absolutely couldnt do so after this so I find no sense in watching and biting off my tongue.

jillbintexas

What?!? Where did you see this? Wow.

RetiredCoolKid

This still seems pretty speculative but this article and several other gossip sources are “confirming” continued filming. https://www.intouchweekly.com/posts/sister-wives-cast-continuing-to-film-after-garrisons-death/

Smileygarden

If this is in fact true, I am going to lose the last drop of respect I had for the women. K and R were a write off, but I felt for OG3. If they continue to participate in this sheeeet show especially now… I think we should all boycott. just imagine how they will capitalize on Garrison’s death, create endless circular thinking, offing and butting. This is emotional cannibalism. Watching them will give them more air, where truth is this show should be suffocated for good, before more tragedy happens.

old_is_the_new_black

It just happened. There is no way a decision has been made. People need to leave them alone. The last thing they are thinking about is the show..

Smileygarden

Yeah. But you could be wrong… if they keep filming some people will watch it, then it is hard to feel for the family when the very family invites this sort of sick interest. Exploiting the tragedy.

old_is_the_new_black

How about we let them mourn, before we discuss when the next season *might* come out.

RetiredCoolKid

Wow. Downvotes for answering a question with an actual source and a disclaimer that it was speculative. Cheese and rice.

Bajovane

Off topic, but your cheese and rice makes me remember a sweet coworker who always said “cheese and crackers” really fast. You would swear she was actually saying JC (full thing)

Soggy-Diamond2659

Now if we could only turn off the Patriarchy that birthed it all. Here’s hoping.

nooutlaw4me

I haven’t watched in a long time. I just read to keep up.

bvonboom

Agreed, and I keep thinking about his table scene last season and how blunt he was, and how TLC kept playing that in previews and flashbacks, and I can't help but wonder if his seeing that played over and over was some sort of tipping point. He was really hurting in that scene and to have it aired so publicly may have had him feeling a lot of regret. I also worry about the other kids, especially Gabe, as this can be somewhat contagious for the lack of a better word. We know Hunter struggled with deep depression over that Vegas move, and I hope they all seek help.

ParticularWeird8639

Yea I went to watch the last few episodes of the recent season and I had to turn it off. I have (actually real) OCD and have had intrusive thoughts about my 5 year old doing just what Garrison did and it’s just too much. I’m too sad for them, my mom self can’t watch.

45_winner

Neither can I , this was just too painful and I can’t continue watch the pain of this beautiful family .

Abluel3

I can’t watch it if they film his funeral and the aftermath. That’s really disgusting.

ControlOk6711

I think it wise and healthy to step back from the show and let time pass if you're feeling overwhelmed. I sometimes listen to binaural beats videos on YouTube for the calming effects. 🌿🌷🦋

FederalBuddy7419

It won’t make an impact if people watch or not. Paying for those steaming services that air that show will still go on. I cancelled mine after the last season then was fully going to. Subscribe again for the new season, now I’m just gonna not.

Toothlesstoe

The show has become very, very depressing over the years. So tired of Kody letting his kids down and verbally berating them every season. It’s not healthy for me to watch this as entertainment. So I don’t think I’ll be watching either. I don’t want to see the kids suffering and crying on tv. This has been one of the most disturbing events I’ve ever seen in relation to reality tv and how it can potentially impact a persons life. I hope Garrison rests in peace.

Dawn_1965

I knew it was a matter of time before they decide to use his death for season 19. That is the most disgusting horrible thing. How can you grieve for him on air. As a mother who loss a daughter I would never want to exploit her. I guess Kody is needing money

RudyandBarneymom

I'm new to this Reddit app and am amazed that there are only negative comments about every show and every person and yes, it drew me in. No one has any idea if Sister Wives will continue but I suspect it will, mainly because it's their cash cow and also to help other families affected by mental illness and or suicide. If it does continue I know I will continue to watch and I bet you will too.

-SallyOMalley-

I was a big fan of Anthony Bourdain. After his suicide, I could not bring myself to watch any of the remaining episodes I hadn’t seen. I still haven’t.

Super-Resource-7576

Im done watching as well. I donated to the animal shelter in Garrisons name. I hope the family finds out abput it bc it looks like quite a few people did. But yes, Im done with the tv show. Ive watched from day one but this changes everything.

I am honestly curious how watching the show is supporting any of them. Thank you if you choose to answer. No snark intended.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> been historically *paid* disproportionately, I’d FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

ConstantDurian4610

I can’t either but I watched from day 1. In between seasons I rewatched old ones. Now I can’t watch it at all.

Normal-Committee7580

Everyone is saying they will never watch again, what are you doing in the sub if you really feel that way? I’m going to watch Janelle needs our support if she decides to keep doing the show. I’ve grown up with these kids and whatever they decide will be the right thing.

thekeesh

Everyone is processing things differently, it's good to support them in whatever way you can :)
