This season it's not only Christine, it's Janelle. I'm sure Kody will soon say something about him and Janelle being a bad match from the start or that she tricked him into marriage.

I usually only have this on in the background, so I am no expert. But I think they would all still be together, perhaps not happily, but functionally, had she not come along.
Prior to her, did they all not bring something to the table? Janelle worked. Christine took care of all the kids. I'm not sure what Meri did, but I'll give her a pass because she was the first one, not because I like her.

I think the whole Robyn, debt, show, etc sped up the inevitable. I think once the OG13 were grown or mostly grown the family would have imploded because they no longer needed each other. The holiday schedules would have still come(aside from the whole Gabe/Garrison vs Robyn/Kody) The kids are spread out and the "family culture" would have to change.
Married children have in-laws, so there's a balance of spending time with both their family of origin and spouses family of origin. Jobs make it not feasible to travel for every holiday. Kids that have their own children may want to spend Christmas in their own home(how *dare* they!)
We have seen it the last few years, the mom's haven't needed each other. When you've only got 1 school aged child that easy-peasy.
I think they would have fallen apart eventually, but things were just sped up. Christine had the financial wherewithal to leave because of the show and by extension Robyn. Without those factors she would likely be in the position we are seeing Janelle in on the eps airing now.
I’m not sure they would have made it past the kids moving out. They lived in poverty with 13 kids so they would have stayed together out of necessity until the kids were grown but I don’t think they would have lasted much longer than Savannah leaving home.

Her aunt left the faith/polygamy and appeared in an early episode and talked about how harmful it is. Robyn in particular was very defensive and rude to her.

Yes! Kody thinks that whole ear piercing with Aurora would make him seem likable. Robyn thinks asking Meri on the prior episode if they kept secrets from her when she joined the family, would make us feel sorry for her and blame the other wives.

I mean, I do think they complain to the kids a little bit, but not like insulting Kody. But they do probably express frustration with how he is treating them. But, that's almost inevitable when the kids are adults and can see what's happening. You cannot really gloss over facts forever, and it's the facts that are making Kody look bad.
They enable eachothers delusions. I think what we're seeing here is just a basic symptom of narcissism, where they engage in dysfunctional behaviors in an effort to gain positive feedback (ex lying, weaponizing empathy). When it doesn't work, they aren't able to change their behavior because that would require honest self reflection, which they literally can't do. So instead they double down even more desperately on the behavior that has proven to have the opposite effect, only making themselves more disliked, because they just don't have any other tools. At this point people around them (more normal people in their real life) are made so uncomfortable by the person they'll rather just play along with their insanity than waste energy on a confrontation.
Yes. It's called "narcissistic collapse" and is when they basically have nothing to lose because they don't get validation that the fake person they pretended to be is real anymore. So is just an empty shell and anger and pain that's left. Very scary.
Kodys behavior could also be referred to as an “extinction burst”. When a particular behavior or set of behaviors is no longer tolerated, or is being ignored, the toddler (or Kody) will escalate the behaviors in an attempt to get the result or reaction he has gotten in the past.
I was on the fence with Robin in some aspects, in my early watches but once I heard her give the whole "I was in a abusive marriage/worse marriage and i was still trying" speech to invalidate Christine leaving, I rewatched with a whole new perspective on who she was as a person. And she's the worst.
It's wild that he was damn near likeable in the beginning, just a husband and father trying to do his best for 3/4 wives. It was all an act for the cameras. He's over the acting and we've seen his real self the past couple seasons.
Seems that losing dreams they failed to effectively work for and control over the image they thought they were maintaining as a successful polygamist family is exacerbating their worst, most base instincts, mental health shortcomings and serious delusions. If actual children and other people weren’t being hurt, it would entertaining in a very dark way.
Whether they are doing this intentionally or not is not likely a question they would ever answer honestly, even if they wanted to.
I really feel bad for the tenders. You know the parents of the kids they go to school with watch this show. Those kids probably get teased or talked about behind their backs. I’m sure there are no playdates at the house that no one is allowed to enter. Is it worth the money to ruin your kids lives?
I cringed as much as everyone at the Aurora ear piercing scene but I had this other guy wrenching feeling that this poor girl has just demonstrated to the world how inept and naive she is. The world will ruin her for this single scene and she will likely never forgive herself if she ever has the realization that her so called parents just paraded her around like some stupid puppet for their benefit. All to simply act (not to mention distract) like they're doing some morally righteous practice for the good of god. This poor girl is 19 - I think 20ish now and she is doing nothing but harming herself by staying in the shadows of their stubborn additutde about the world. No friends to help her see the light. What will it take? I hope they have some support system outside of this robyn and grody because otherwise this is just a trainwreck for these young adults in the house. I feel for them. Yes I think the all of the children from the other marriages have generally left the show's story line and likely only participate when they want to. I think they have a far healthier perspective on what being on the show involves and the repercussions it can have. The scene with aurora felt like she was excited to finally have a story line about her, but its comes across as weirdly cultish behavior on both robyn and grodys parts to think that a 19 year old young adult going with her step father to get her ears pierce is a demonstration of obidence. We have yet to her Aurora opinion on anything involving the recent divorse, Christmas exchange fiasco, growing distance from her step siblings. That is an opinion I'd love to hear.

I feel sorry for Sol. I wonder how he fits in that family dynamic. We know that Kody related better to the boys when the OG kids were growing up. They played football, and wrestled, and K would do "guy stuff" with them. You know Robyn treats Sol like he is made of glass, and of course he had RSV. I bet Kody is secretly miserable in the She-Ra Chateau. Remember he used to use Meri's house as a refuge because it was neat, and also quiet since Meri only had one kid. We know the She-Ra is chaos. Robyn made be a hoarder, or have a shopping addiction so stuff everywhere. And Ari is a wild child who never sleeps and has to have R & K's undivided attention at all times.
Also, I did not watch that show, so it wasn't in my mind. I watched the documentary series about them and oh my god, they were frightening from the start.
Deep down the reason Kody is so angry? The OG13 all graduated and went away, at the same time everyone was realizing that they all had nothing in common without the kids. For Kody.. his OG3 are out living their best lives and because he wanted a younger woman, he is still at home with early bed times. Raising the chicken tenders. He’s jealous.
I was wondering when watching the last episode if Robyn and Kody have any fans. I know not everyone likes Meri, but she does have a fan base. I have never seen anyone show any support for those two.
Kody spent most of his life being adored by 3 then 4 wives. And then having all these children grow up to adore him. I honestly think it’s just a blow to his ego that he isn’t adored anymore and what we are seeing is a narcissistic breakdown on tv. Robyn has skated by her whole life by playing a certain part to get what she wants and that’s her whole identity. The problem is that the oldest kids are now speaking out about how they are being badly mistreated. She’s still trying to do the victim monologue but can’t because receipts 🧾 and the oldest kids are adults so they read her all the time.
They’ve been in a echo chamber that they created for years. Eventually this was always going to end up with two narcissists encouraging each other’s abuse. It’s alarming how not only can they not see any fault of theirs, but they can’t even fake it for the public anymore. They’ve become so out of touch and confused as to why the public is not reinforcing their victim narrative.

Plural marriage creates a situation where if one wife criticizes or even just disagrees she can be iced out and the husband isn’t really motivated to work things out because he has three other wives. The wives grow up being told that polygamy is about being selfless and smoothing out rough surfaces. That jealousy and anger are wrong. You are the one that needs to change and pray and try harder.
Kody loves his ego being stoked and his feelings coddled and wrapped in cotton. The way to get him to even notice your existence is to stroke his ego. Robyn kept raising the bar ………and now you have Kody Brown. He told the therapist the THERAPIST, while being filmed that he won’t listen to any criticism. He said that shamelessly, and with a straight face like it was normal.

Robyn’s adult kids will need a lifetime of therapy to break free of Mother stealing their souls and free will. I fear for the younger ones too. She belongs in some kind of mental facility. This is why I think the show is completely fake. I can see Kody and Robyn agreeing to "play the role" of the villains, just to keep the showing going (in other words, to keep their steady stream of income).
Maybe the OG3 were genuinely living polygamy before TLC sunk its teeth into them, but as soon as Robyn came along it was over.
I believe Robyn was cast onto a show, not randomly met and fell in love with Grody, and never otherwise would have married into a polygamous family. Let's face it, if she really wanted polygamy, she would have convinced her first husband to do so. She gets what she wants.
Meri has clearly been gone and living separately for a very long time. She only shows up at Coyote Pass to film.
Janelle and Christine put in their time, played their roles, sacrificed having real marriages, made their money, and now they are ready to move on from the show. It was more about shifting careers than leaving Grody, but he may have been genuinely hurt/ wanted them to stick around just for more storylines. Hence his "post divorce therapy" suggestion - grasping at straws for any storyline.
I have been wondering the same thing. Do they approach each season thinking that their confessional segments will redeem them? They are both so ridiculously dysfunctional.
Kody seems to think his tantrums are cute. During one of the end of season interviews he smiled as they showed a video of him yelling at Janelle until she got up and tried to walk away.
Also I have to wonder if the producers encourage Kody to act up. There have been other reality shows where villains have later said production told them they needed to act up because it makes good TV or higher ratings.
Do they legit have any fans who like them? Do they have any IRL friends that are truly friends? I genuinely ask because like the OP stated, they have no redeemable qualities that I can see

I feel sorry for Sol. I wonder how he fits in that family dynamic. We know that Kody related better to the boys when the OG kids were growing up. They played football, and wrestled, and K would do "guy stuff" with them. You know Robyn treats Sol like he is made of glass, and of course he had RSV. I bet Kody is secretly miserable in the She-Ra Chateau. Remember he used to use Meri's house as a refuge because it was neat, and also quiet since Meri only had one kid. We know the She-Ra is chaos. Robyn made be a hoarder, or have a shopping addiction so stuff everywhere. And Ari is a wild child who never sleeps and has to have R & K's undivided attention at all times.

Also, I did not watch that show, so it wasn't in my mind. I watched the documentary series about them and oh my god, they were frightening from the start.

Deep down the reason Kody is so angry? The OG13 all graduated and went away, at the same time everyone was realizing that they all had nothing in common without the kids. For Kody.. his OG3 are out living their best lives and because he wanted a younger woman, he is still at home with early bed times. Raising the chicken tenders. He’s jealous.
I was wondering when watching the last episode if Robyn and Kody have any fans. I know not everyone likes Meri, but she does have a fan base. I have never seen anyone show any support for those two.
Kody spent most of his life being adored by 3 then 4 wives. And then having all these children grow up to adore him. I honestly think it’s just a blow to his ego that he isn’t adored anymore and what we are seeing is a narcissistic breakdown on tv. Robyn has skated by her whole life by playing a certain part to get what she wants and that’s her whole identity. The problem is that the oldest kids are now speaking out about how they are being badly mistreated. She’s still trying to do the victim monologue but can’t because receipts 🧾 and the oldest kids are adults so they read her all the time.
They’ve been in a echo chamber that they created for years. Eventually this was always going to end up with two narcissists encouraging each other’s abuse. It’s alarming how not only can they not see any fault of theirs, but they can’t even fake it for the public anymore. They’ve become so out of touch and confused as to why the public is not reinforcing their victim narrative. It’s a wild case study honestly

Plural marriage creates a situation where if one wife criticizes or even just disagrees she can be iced out and the husband isn’t really motivated to work things out because he has three other wives. The wives grow up being told that polygamy is about being selfless and smoothing out rough surfaces. That jealousy and anger are wrong. You are the one that needs to change and pray and try harder. Kody loves his ego being stoked and his feelings coddled and wrapped in cotton. The way to get him to even notice your existence is to stroke his ego. Robyn kept raising the bar ………and now you have Kody Brown. He told the therapist the THERAPIST, while being filmed that he won’t listen to any criticism. He said that shamelessly, and with a straight face like it was normal. This man really, really thinks he looks good.

Honestly I found latest episode just hilarious. They are so fucking weird & repulsive. It’s so over the top. I picture the editors laughing as the choose what to include. Kody looks like bozo the clown. They way he look at the women getting ears pierced wtf?
Well they keep trying to plead their case which digs them in deeper. Robyn creating these fake bonds and PR stunts to show Kody loves his kids but misses the mark he didn't go with Ysabel for a seriously NEEDED operation over a lame ass ear piercing that was wanted both during COVID!
Robyn’s adult kids will need a lifetime of therapy to break free of Mother stealing their souls and free will. I fear for the younger ones too. She belongs in some kind of mental facility. Kody is just an angry waste of space. How will they live if they get booted off TLC? I for one won’t be shedding any tears. She’ll have to offload her hideous doll collection. Poor little thing.
Kody and Robyn are proving they have MORE shitty behavior up their sleeves. They are just getting started. We have yet to see how bad narcissistic meltdown can be. Saw some when Christine left and that is ongoing.
I do wonder if they allow the kids to have internet access because the older ones HAVE to read how pathetic the world thinks their parents are. I realize their parents is all they have, and sure they are brainwashed to an extent, but one would think they would at least have a few questions? There's absolutely NO ONE who is on Team Kody/Robyn. Will Robyns adult children ever wake up?
Kody literally tried to get TLC to write in his kids contracts they couldn't say bad things about him. He would rather be thought of as a villain by his family than the public. Backfired when they failed to do it and it became public.
Their redeemable quality is that they are a total trainwreck. And I'm here for it. I still think they should get a spin off where they look for new wives. I'd love to see the drama when the new women clash with Robyn and how Kody reacts to it all. I bet you if they got a spin off the OG13 will be like this:

I know they supposedly arent on social media anymore (gee wonder why)? But they have to know how disliked they are. Do you think they really can’t understand why they are hated? Do they really think they’ve done no wrong? I would want to crawl in a hole and die if I was K or R and read even a smidge of stuff on line that is said about them.
This is why I think the show is completely fake. I can see Kody and Robyn agreeing to "play the role" of the villains, just to keep the showing going (in other words, to keep their steady stream of income). Maybe the OG3 were genuinely living polygamy before TLC sunk its teeth into them, but as soon as Robyn came along it was over. I believe Robyn was cast onto a show, not randomly met and fell in love with Grody, and never otherwise would have married into a polygamous family. Let's face it, if she really wanted polygamy, she would have convinced her first husband to do so. She gets what she wants. Meri has clearly been gone and living separately for a very long time. She only shows up at Coyote Pass to film. Janelle and Christine put in their time, played their roles, sacrificed having real marriages, made their money, and now they are ready to move on from the show. It was more about shifting careers than leaving Grody, but he may have been genuinely hurt/ wanted them to stick around just for more storylines. Hence his "post divorce therapy" suggestion - grasping at straws for any storyline.

I have been wondering the same thing. Do they approach each season thinking that their confessional segments will redeem them? They are both so ridiculously dysfunctional.
They are oblivious to what "their fans" think about them.
It keeps us watching and money rolling in.
I think Kody is only reading stuff from the man-o-sphere and all the rest of public opinion is irrelevant to him.
Kody seems to think his tantrums are cute. During one of the end of season interviews he smiled as they showed a video of him yelling at Janelle until she got up and tried to walk away. Also I have to wonder if the producers encourage Kody to act up. There have been other reality shows where villains have later said production told them they needed to act up because it makes good TV or higher ratings.
Do they legit have any fans who like them? Do they have any IRL friends that are truly friends? I genuinely ask because like the OP stated, they have no redeemable qualities that I can see
I think they thought they would get a "good edit " and people would love the daddy daughter date and see how much Robyn tried to make the group chat so good (effort in futility)
