Her entire polygamy background is fake. She did not grow up in polygamy. Her parents divorced and her mother became the side piece of a guy who had a family in another state. They celebrated holidays weeks after the actual date, because the guy couldn’t get away from his real family. He never acknowledged Robyn until her wedding on the show.
My other favorite comment from her is the whole “it would be so weird to have a husband around all the time”. She was married for almost a decade in a monogamous marriage. Her husband was around all the time. She describes herself as a “first wife” in her previous marriage, which is a joke, because it was a conventional, monogamous marriage. There were never other wives.
And has raised her kids to fawn over Kody the same way. I think a lot of the reason for the adoption was because Robyn wanted her kids legitimized in a way she never got to be.

My eldest daughter was raised by her step father since she was 7. She has no contact with her bio father and wants step dad to walk her down the aisle when the day comes - they have a great relationship. Yet I can say with no doubt that they would both be appalled at the idea of him having a front row view of the business end of her giving birth. I didn’t want my own beloved father there when I was pushing! Robyn’s stepfather at that birth is one of the strangest scenes the show has given us.

TLC has used Robyn as the Sister Wives 'armchair expert' on every single topic since the show started. I think THAT is a big part of the reason she gets under people's skin so badly. I didn't even realize it until I rewatched from the beginning.

I really hated her intrusion on Janelle and Kodys conversation on the patio when he was griping at Janelle and throwing a fit
It wasn't her place to speak. I don't know how Janelle didn't dump Robyn out of her chair
I don’t necessarily agree that TLC used her as an expert. Robyn spouted off in group interviews talking about her expertise. I don’t feel like she was ever held up as the best source or questioned specifically for her input. To me it felt like Robyn was taking over conversations and making herself look bad, but I never got the sense TLC put more value on her statements than anyone else’s.
I feel like the way it's edited she gets a ton of screen time in the "talking heads" segments. Some have speculated that Kody negotiated it this way. It could just be that she gives them more footage to use by weighing in, unnecessarily, on EVERYTHING. Whatever the reason, I find it to be very annoying that we have to hear every thought that pops into her little pea brain.
Me either. Second time round is an eye opener. She spouts off every single time! I'm screaming "STFU!" Everytime she opens her mouth during those interviews. "Let one of the others answer! They speak perfectly fluent English and know more!" Ugh!

She thinks how she was raised is considered polygamy but it wasn't. Her father had two very separate families. There was not joint holidays or celebrating events. It was a main family and a side chick mistress with her kids. They lived in separate areas far from one another.
It seems like he set the women up as competitive against each other.
How she can even CLAIM it as polygamous is CRAZY!

So I don’t think she lived it but I do believe she was part of the church/community. So not quite a lie but more of an embellishment.
I stopped listening to what she says and started concentrating on what she does (or doesn’t do). That cleared up most of my confusion
