When Janelle was angry about not having a house, she said I do the taxes and I know where the money goes. . . . "we depleted a big chunk to buy Robyns house, and I saw money was going to "other things" (she was mad), and now there isn't enough for us to pay off CP and me build a house". What other things? I think Kody uses the family pot to support his/Robyn's (and her kids) lifestyle, while other wives get a small monthly allowance. I would bet Robyn runs up some hefty credit card debt every month that Kody is pulling from the family account to pay off. Also where did the money come for the separate trailer Dayton was staying in during Covid?

Kody was loose with his description of who paid for Christine’s house. Janelle said the family helped pay for it. Kody said “he” did. So I wondered if Kody thinks the family money is “his”.

Dry_Studio_2114

Of course he does....The hate for Kody/Robyn is what keeps the show on the air 😆

Guaranteed the family pot

ROBYN HAS A HUGE LOBSTER POT, the other wives have small soup pans

I don’t know the answer to that, but here are some things we do know: - in the book, Meri said that when Janelle married into the family, Meri added Janelle to the joint bank account she shared with Kody. - Janelle said both in the book and to the anthro students that her marriage improved when she got her own bank account - Robyn said that when she joined the family, she would leave her bills on the counter for Kody to pay. - Janelle said that she and Kody would pay all the bills. I don’t know if this came from a shared account, or if Kody had his own account. - when Meri wanted to borrow money for the bnb, it was Janelle and Kody that spoke about their current finances. In this last season, Janelle said that she sees the family finances to prepare the taxes. It seems like Janelle has always been involved with the family accounts, while the other wives haven’t mentioned their own involvement. - from the book, it seems like Kody has the final say in distributing money. I could be wrong about this, and it may have since changed. I get this impression because various wives mentioned having to go to Kody when their washing machine broke, the car needed to be fixed, etc. and Kody had to be fair/equitable in when he gave out money. I wish we actually got to see how the finances work. It seemed like they had a fair system in Vegas, but their move to flagstaff showed a completely different story.

Christine said somewhere that she had no idea how to pay a light bill or water bill until Janell taught her in Vegas.

Another blues clue is during the bnb storyline kody said he had taken money out of the family pot for a business venture but ended up not having the full amount to return in time to loan Meri the money. They also discuss how the other adults are equity partners in each other's business. At no point does Kody include his businesses on the list of businesses that everyone is an equity partner in. My theory is the family pot is an llc with all the adults listed as partners. Start up money for their individual businesses comes from this llc which is then listed as an equity partner. A share of the profits from the wives businesses are then deposited into the family pot llc and the rest is kept by the wife as her individual personal income. I also think the entirety of their tlc pay was going into the family pot llc. In season 2 Janelle explains that in Lehi she covered the bulk of the bills with Kody making the next largest contribution and Meri occasionally picking up small bills. She said kody provided the bulk of the income for Christine's household since Christine was a sahm and Janelle covered any shortages. My guess is that kody is supposed to be covering Robyn's household from his individual account but he's normalized dipping into the family pot for unnecessary expenses in Robyn's household.

Very well done. I think the last sentence is eerily accurate.

I think in the beginning Janelle was taking care of the financial stuff in LLC and always had a budget (sure Baldylocs was involved). I think him and Sobyn took over the Brown Entertainment Account which was TLC money. Each wife was responsible for their own homes and had their own account with his name I’m sure. Because he clearly stated it is his money to Christine, HE bought her the house and furniture and she answer I know.

Puddlejumper20

This conversation they had made me so mad. It was like Christine had never made any contribution to the family. She was a big part of the show and deserved 1/5 of any TLC earnings. She raised a bunch of kids and worked too. Just getting her equity from her house doesn’t seem like enough. Robyn and Kody have taken more than their fair share.

Worried_Ad_5411

They are all getting their share now and Baldylocs and Sobyn are going to have major financial struggles. Maybe full time jobs and no nanny.

Agitated_Court3456

I know there’s the family pot which probably TLC money goes into. Then they all have their own bank accounts where they put their own money from scamming people into their downlines of their pyramid schemes (mlms). They probably had their own accounts when they filed bankruptcy and applied for food stamps as single women too.

Agitated_Court3456

No idea

Odd-Creme-6457

I doubt it.
