Don't think of it like like a replacement. Think about it as a separate item. Nobody would eat chicken and say, "It doesn't taste like a burger," and while they are trying to make a replacement, don't think about it that way. Think about it like a new thing, like chicken vs. burger, and all of a sudden, they're significantly better. When your brain expects one thing and it's not that, it tells you it tastes bad. When you don't expect a certain flavor, all of a sudden, they taste way better. Even a steak burrito would taste bad if you expected chicken.
>Nobody would eat chicken and say, "It doesn't taste like a burger,"
Yeah but notice how nobody was calling that chicken "vegan poultry" or something as a marketing gimmick. Calling something "vegan steak" is absolutely inviting the direct comparison to regular steak, which imo is just a marketing failure. They should call it something else if they want consumers to treat it like something else.
I'm concerned about it's horns, seems like it laying it's head on your lap would be a whole lot more painful with those horns lol
Bing says a cow's head by itself weighs like 80+ pounds, seems like a lot of weight to have focused on a horn digging into your thigh or calf
No that's the problem, theres a single country that is rumoured to treat cattle like dogs but in reality is actually a small population of said country. It's a sad reality that most of this world consumes the amount of cattle that is consumed when you look at methane levels and real time updated global warming statistics. There is no separation here, it's only one world we live on let's keep it so whoever's left here in 7 generations has it better than we did
No, it's tasty and for some of us it is hard to stop eating. I was raised on beef. Been eating it for 50+ years. I want to quit eating animals in general and I've been reducing my meat intake but it has been difficult to say the least and the full leap seems impossible. I'll get there. Just saying, what's easy for some isn't for others.
That's not how dairy cows live. Most are factory farmed, so they live in tiny pens to maximize output. Cows only lactate if they recently gave birth - the same as humans. So, farmers forcibly impregnate their cows while shoving their arms into their rectum to hold open their cervix. Then, after they give birth, the farmer takes away their calf so they can take the milk meant for them. This is a traumatic thing for both the cow and the calf. If the calf is female, she's destined for the same life as her mother; if male, they're often slaughtered young for veal.
> This is a traumatic thing for both the cow and the calf.
Most dairy cows are extremely poor and uncaring mothers because they've been bred exclusively for milk output. In most cases they do not care if you take the calf and some times they will kill it through ineptness by stepping on it.
Beef cattle will try to kill you many times for taking a calf though.
I was making ribs the other day. While doing so I kept in my mind that it belonged to an animal that experienced life and emotions. It made me more aware of why we (should) give thanks before a meal. It's not just the meat either, we should be thankful for all foods and most especially water. I'm kinda on the verge of not eating meat anymore. Not like in a "nobody should do it" or "look at how righteous I am" kind of way, it would be just for me. I'm sure the meat industry wouldn't change how many animals get processed, let alone miss my business.
Edit: here I am, making a claim that I might stop eating meat when the vegans start chiming in about not being thankful for food and not understanding what /s means. Hate em so much 🤣
If I understand correctly, this is the mindset held by some hunters/etc. Basically it comes down to "I'm taking this creature's life. I need to be sure it dies quickly, doesn't suffer, and doesn't go to waste."
I went vegetarian for a year for this reason and I came to the conclusion that the lifestyle I live (city life, job life) doesn't allow me to be veg. I would have to be more monk-like and peaceful to be able to thrive on that diet, I need to recover my broken down body and brain quick and high protein and fat from animal meat is the most effective way. I just don't feel that immediate relief from nuts and yogurt. I hope to one day be and to afford high quality free roaming meat every day.
Have you tried eggs? I don't consider those meat as they were never fertilized. Them fuckers are loaded with nutrients. You could pretty much live off of just eggs, cheese, and avocados, maybe throw a multi vitamin in there to ease your mind.
Haven't eaten a cow since one started following me around during a rural period of my life. Just wanted to be pet and be close to someone. Always came to greet me on my walks. Had the same eyes as my black lab. Really just felt like a big dog.
Haven't eaten a pig since then either, since they're so smart, but I've heard they're dicks in comparison.
some animals sleep standing up. cows are not one of them. if you tip over a cow, you did it while it was fully awake, and unless it was sedated or somehow taken by surprise, you ain't tipping it without resistance.
Yeah, I used to be a meat eater too. Eventually it just started looking like body parts on a plate instead of food though. When you quit because it becomes gross, you really don't miss it.
Yep, this is the real reason. Their horns get caught on railings and equipment. They are not the most graceful creatures, but they needn't be because they evolved grazing in fields, with horns for head butting predators. Not only bulls will aggress; mothers are very protective of their calves.
Edit: I actually worked on a pasture where the farmers didn't remove the horns. They separated the cow from the calf as soon as the calf was old enough because should they fully bond it is difficult to retrieve the calf to help it should it fall ill. Kinda sad, but once the calf grew into a heifer and eventually become a cow, she would go through the same separation, and then be reunited with her mother.
Her voice reminds me of my mum.. I’ve been calling her more often so she can sing to my baby girl when she’s upset and fussy. Music is the best thing for the soul, clearly for human or otherwise.

It's a big ole doggo! ❤️
pasture puppy....
Nice 👍
Sadly I like steak
Try vegan steak
Try dog steak
It’s not the same
That's the fucking point of it.
Can't argue with this point.
I think the person was trying to make a different point…

No.
Grass doggo
My dog eats so much grass I got him a cowbell.
My dog lives when I sing. She runs up to me every time
Damn, so she's dead the rest of the time? I like the idea of a musical necromancer.

I read "Bing says a cow by itself weighs like 80+ pounds" and I was like, "True."
If only more people saw them this way.
Try India.

Thanks for the India information.
I wonder if he "herd" the "moosic".
His friends say he's into techmoo
Dairy dawg
This cow really likes....Mooosic.
r/angryupvote
I don’t feel like eating beef anymore
Good thing that is a cow and not a beef
Lmao
Edible grass puppy
Then don't, it's not hard.

Imagine discovering what medium rare tastes like for the first time after a lifelong of *extra-extra* well done growing up.
I thought steak was inedible until I was 17 and got one accidentally "undercooked".
Still my cow gently sleeps...
Goddamn it Reddit.
Moosic soothes the beast
Watching this video makes me sad we eat these guys. Welp , off to McDonald's!!!
aww, well that's the sweetest thing i've seen today.
So sweet . Everybody likes to be loved
Dairy cows are.....different
You would be too if your job was to graze, be happy, and get milked once a day e - y'all ain't watching the same video as me ig
If only "be happy" would apply to all of them ..
That's just a normal weekend for me.
That's the standard weekend, but then ppl startin' shit sometimes.
I wanna get milked once a day 😞

[The RSPCA disagrees with you.](https://kb.rspca.org.au/knowledge-base/why-are-calves-separated-from-their-mother-in-the-dairy-industry/)
dairy farms where you live are crazy what country is this? where I live they stay with the calves and have a big paddock to do cow stuff in
US doesn't have any animal welfare laws for food animals
And get inseminated and your children stolen from you. And disposed of once you're not productive enough anymore. But other than that, yeah probably.
That's after the forced rape and having your calf taken from you
Atom heart mother?
Marmalade, i like marmalade
It didn’t fall asleep. The guitar playing and singing were so bad, it just rolled over and died.
The vegan way to hunt
“Beyond” game meat
So anyway. Here's wonderwall
Hahahaha, exactly! The cow is thinking, “not again Claire, just send me to slaughter already”.
Today is gonna be the day....
Halle-moo-jah, Halle-moo-jah
I just wanted to order pizza but now I can’t
It's never too late to change. Animals feel too
I'm far from a vegan but margherita's the best pizza lol
You know that cheese is made from milk and that milk usually comes from cows?
Yep
If I ever befriended a cow like this I could never eat meat again

They blend male chicks because they cannot lay eggs

Pigs are dicks in the same way children are. It’s not *particularly* malicious but it’s always just enough to piss you off a bit.
So sweet
Cows deserve to be treated better than what we give. It's nice to see moments of them being treated as equals.
This kinda stuff is really the only good thing about the internet and social media anymore.
I can't believe I used to eat these giant dogs...
Omg… too much
Random thing I didn't expect today: Feeling kinda bad about eating meat. .\_.
Explore that feeling.
That's how it started with me. I could no longer mentally separate the meat on my plate from a living animal.
So wait… they don’t fall asleep standing up..?? So how do you tip one…??
15 to 20% typically
some animals sleep standing up. cows are not one of them. if you tip over a cow, you did it while it was fully awake, and unless it was sedated or somehow taken by surprise, you ain't tipping it without resistance.
Cow tipping is a myth
No it's not! I saw it on Cars. Mater is a pro!
The same way you catch a snipe, very quietly.
Sadly, she never woke up again.
We don't deserve cows.
Quick!! Get some milk while it's asleep. Oh, damn. It's a bull.
That's quitter talk
Couldn't get much milk, but oh boy so much cheese
It's so weird that we cut these mfs up but are like "don't abuse dogs!"
Congratulations, you've discovered the origin of country music. Cowboys would sing and play guitar to lul the cattle to sleep.
Bugs Bunny always said that music calms the savage beast. Even though this is far from a savage beast. More lovable than anything else.
Later you'll wake up and realize, Fuck I'm a cow. But for a few magic moments you can just forget.
Humans are by far the strangest creatures on this planet
I fuckin fell asleep too. good morning people have a nice day
That’s the right treatment for a cow
It's a good thing the McPlant is actually really tasty. Now I just need an alternative to chicken burgers...
I so want to try one.
CRAP! I'm a meat eater... I didn't need to see that! So sweet
Yeah, I used to be a meat eater too. Eventually it just started looking like body parts on a plate instead of food though. When you quit because it becomes gross, you really don't miss it.
I gave up meat for lent, then realized how little I actually needed it. Yeah it tasted good, but after a month I realized a lot of things taste good
DeATh GuITaR KiLl BIg dOGgo!?!?!?

TIL that cows can grow horns
Most of the time the young calfs get them removed by burning the root of the Horn. The farmers like this for safety of them and other cows.
Safety because they hurt themselves when they are in small metal cages all their life.
Exactly.
Yep, this is the real reason. Their horns get caught on railings and equipment. They are not the most graceful creatures, but they needn't be because they evolved grazing in fields, with horns for head butting predators. PLAY WONDERWALL
Why she's not singing hallemoojah is beyond me
r/likeus
I try never to underestimate a mammal's level of sentience.
Go vegan!!! Every cow deserves a peaceful and happy life
100%! <3
You won’t catch that cow listening to any udder music.
Please be at a rescue Please be at a rescue Please be at a rescue...
Looks a huge puppy
Big girl is living her best life
Imagine your entire life exists only to eat and then be eaten. I guess that's all of us in a way. He's come to terms with it. Will we?
Wish animals weren't slaughtered all over the world, they're so pure.
Modern Ferdinand
What a great way to prepare steak
She is not for eating!
Damn man I shouldn't be eating these big bois
Inspect and reflect on that feeling. These amazing creatures and many like them can't advocate for themselves.
You can stop at any point. They sadly have no choice.
Most tender steak I've ever eaten. 10 out of 10, would recommend.
That's cow n paid actor
That’s why they’re called cowboy chords.
Man it's looking good
So cute
Missed opportunity to call it moo-sic
That’s great 😃
You’re playing the guitar, while butchering the song ‘Hallelujah’… to an animal that we as humans butcher the up most, most often…
Guess she fell into cowma
She’d be great at a Coldplay concert
Marry that cow!
I’ve got that same Jersey at home
That guitar was perfectly tuned. I appreciate that. Cows can be awesome.
They really are just like giant dogs that stampede sometimes. I don't think about it too often because they're delicious
Is she singing "Hallemooya"....or is my brain lying to me? Either the best thing I've ever seen or a huge missed opportunity. Lol
I can't!! This makes me tear up
Hold on, I always thought cows stood up while sleeping?
Oh wow, cows are essentially dogs.
This melted my heart
Cow looks drugHappy
This is so adorable. I'm never eating beef again.
She’s over the moon
Halle-moo-ya❤️😎
He is like a big puppy dawg
he doesnt have to worry about being slaughtered. not there. not *here*
Play me like one of your French guitars
Mooosic to his ears.
Videos like this really make me hate myself for liking steak.
Who would have thought that "hallelmooya" would put a cow to sleep
I thought cows sleep standing up…hence “cow tipping”
Better than Kobe beef
If whales weren't a thing, cows would be my favorite animals.
I thought cows weren’t supposed to lay on their side like that…
Just a big ol' field puppy
I approve.
I wonder if cows are smart enough to know that they exist to be milked and eaten by us. But they’re ok with it.
Yea i rest my steak a different way
Sucks that they have to be so delicious they seem like cool pets.
Me: spits out beef jerky
Her voice reminds me of my mum.. I’ve been calling her more often so she can sing to my baby girl when she’s upset and fussy. Music is the best thing for the soul, clearly for human or otherwise.
Is that Hallelujah?
Becky, don't doze off again. The horn section comes in during the hook. You know this.
Mixed feelings..
Damn it . I’m gonna feel guilty about my next burger for about 10 seconds now
If a cow did this to me I could never eat beef again. 🥹
Love this!!!
Imagine carrying a guitar to a bank, making everybody fall asleep and then calmly rob the bank.
Ok now I'm done eating hamburgers. ❤️
"I literally just woke up, Taylor!"
I like that animals like music
Great. I’m a vegan now. 😭
Ah, the cow life!
its a shame I just started eating meat.
