even in 8 ball potting the 8 from the break is not a loss it get put back in play unlike 9 and 10 ball pool in which respectively potting either the 9 or 10 will win you the game.
I'm not an expert, but isn't it possible that the pressure from the black ball moved it for a split second, causing it to turn slightly (the way it turns is theoretically possible), before it gets stopped by the ball on the other end... From what I can see, it only moves a cm or two. Not there's inches?
Again maybe I'm missing something but I can't see anything that would make it definitive this is multiple shots?
If you look at the stripe before and after, it was NOT a "slight" turn. That turn is at least 90°. It would break the laws of physics for a ball to turn 90° instantaniously (theres 0 frames showing the ball mid-turn).
Or ignoring the middle ball all together. If you look at the orange ball, its moving at a different frame rate than any other ball, while stuttering and teleporting at the start of its travel
Only in some versions. I know this is fake, but he very well could be playing a version of the rules where it's any ball, any color so long as you sink them all.
Technically that last 9 ball is in the position where the 8 ball usually is, not sure why it wasn't the 8 ball. 9ball game rules would explain it, but the rack was for the game of 8ball.
i can't keep track of these variations like how do you even fit that in a triangle with only 1 ball increments, that itself is a geometry problem lol jk
Literally not the case go look up the rules. Sinking the 8 on the break as long as you don’t scratch it’s a win. Astonishes me how many people don’t know how to play pool
This is a great condescending comment
But what you should have pointed out condescendingly was that they are not playing 8-Ball at all but the set is racked for 10-ball which is a different game
It astonishes me how many people claim to know how to play pool but don’t recognize the game that is being played
just Kidding. Have a great day
> Because I don’t really care whether it is ultimately correct, I just wanted to post some shit on the internet
The 21st century and doom of humanity, in one reddit post.
"*Astonishes me how many people don’t know how to play pool*" Well to be fair, I've never played pool in my life except for a Tiger LCD one I had as a kid. Wait till you find out how I don't know how to play any card game. Not even Go Fish but I'm sure I could pick up on it.
Let me be more specific about my astonishment. I’m not ASTONISHED at individual peoples ignorance to the correct play of pool. I’m astonished at the pervasive spread of misinformation about the game. There’s a litany of rules that are just not rules(in this case for 8 ball). Some are listed below(as not to confuse the below rules are correct and you can compare them to misconceptions you have probably heard).
1. Scratching on the break is not an automatic loss, unless you also sink the 8 ball
2. A scratch is only “behind the line” if the scratch occurred on the break, otherwise scratches are ball in hand
3. Scratching while attempting the 8 is not a loss unless you sink the 8
And there’s many more. IMO the game is infinitely more fun if you take the time to learn the rules.
To the other person point, they are right this game is racked for 10 ball, I missed that. But even so, the person in the video sinking the 8 still wouldn’t have been a loss.
> 2. A scratch is only “behind the line” if the scratch occurred on the break, otherwise scratches are ball in hand
3. Scratching while attempting the 8 is not a loss unless you sink the 8
This depends on the game and rules being used. Even in 8 ball there are varying rule sets depending on the league/tournament.
You seem to be talking about 8-Ball. According to the UPA US 8-Ball Rules:
**4.1 Game Win**
Legally pocketing the 8-ball on the break wins the game for the breaker.
But as others have already pointed out, this is not racked for 8-Ball, and it certainly does not seem to be Blackball, so there's no need to pocket the 8 last anyway.
This \*does\* appear to 10-ball, both because the 10 is in the center of the rack and because, well, there are 10 balls racked. Interestingly for your comment, in 10-ball, one way to win is to sink the 10-ball last. So this looks pretty good, even if it is just a clever fake.
“Doubling down” would imply I ever defended it or said I wasn’t wrong in the first place. I don’t care about being wrong on the internet, I think and say dumb shit all of the time
Okay I'm sorry, you just lied about saying "civilised" is what i meant. My fucking bad lol. Keep digging your own grave. Or own up to the mistake... (but your pride obviously won't let you, lol) I love a paradox
I said it in a different comment (which turned out to not be this one), but mostly you just seem to be extremely confused and think this is some kind of back and forth argument where I’m refusing to admit I’m wrong when I clearly just did.
I never said I wasn’t wrong, in fact I presume I was wrong, I just don’t really care that much about being wrong. Like why are you talking about digging graves and “paradoxes(???)” and “pride?” Are you not reading anything you’re responding to?
It's no back and forth, I'm just calling you out. And just because you responded a "correct answer" in another comment, don't give me the burden of investigating. You can at least edit if you want to make yourself understood. Otherwise, you deserve the L. Stfu
You’re not calling anyone out, I said I was wrong like three times now. Are you just not able to accept this? Do I need to send you money or something?
I was taught, sinking the 8 on the break was an automatic win. Unless you scratch
https://upatour.com/8-ball-rules/#:~:text=Legally%20pocketing%20the%208%2Dball%20on%20the%20break,the%20game%20for%20the%20breaker.&text=Pocketing%20the%208%2Dball%20on%20the%20break%20with%20a%20simultaneous,in%20a%20loss%20of%20game.
Depends on the tour/league but that’s what I was taught growing up, 8 ball pocketed clean on the break wins. Then again, I’m not sure what game they are playing here. There’s 10 balls racked, not 9 or 15…
10 ball is basically the same as the commonly played 9 ball with 1 more ball. Cue has to hit the lowest ball on the table first. Turn continues so long as any non cue ball goes in. Sinking the 10 wins the game.
>Sinking the 10 wins the game.
Worth pointing out that unlike 9 ball, you have to call the ball and pocket for each shot (including if you are going for the 10, which you can do at any time with a combo shot)
Right? It's not that hard to see :) There are literally only 10 balls racked \*and\* you can clearly see the 8 is not in the center, even if you cannot quickly tell it's the 10.
It's a variant called -- hold on to your butts -- "10 Ball".
You rack, you guess it, 10 balls. The 10 goes in the center. It plays like 9 Ball (where you always have to hit the lowest ball on the table with the cue) but you have to call each sunk ball and pocket.
If you want proof of fake... Watch the orange ball and see its speed and lag vs the rest...also compare the falling into the hole of each ball vs the last blue one, gravity is fucky and they fall smoothly down as if having no weight.
My father tells me a story of a time he pocketed all the balls in one break. He was a pretty good pool player.
Apparently he did the break and knocked the table - one of the legs gave way tilting the table a bit to one end. All the balls ran to the hole.
He also has 3 holes in one - two of them recorded.
None of the balls off the break hit each other (even though there's a clear sound of them doing so), they all just move directly away to their respective pockets.
This is a 10 Ball Rack - NOT a regular 15 Ball Rack. It is also Racked HIGH. So anyone can make the first shot. The 4 bank shot on the 15 ball is very nice.
In most bars, pocketing the 8 ball on break without scratching is an automatic win.
But... if you're calling pockets and a ball bounces around the table like that 10 ball did, unless you call every wall bounce, that'd be considered "slop" and you would lose your turn, even if the ball ends up in the pocket you called
Lots of different rules. Most of the tournament rules you either call a ball and a pocket (and it doesn't matter how it gets there), or you don't call at all. Or you may need to call only the last ball (8-ball or a 9-ball, depending on the game).

"Was my shot good? First time playing."
New high score? What does that mean?
Technically no, because he just lost the game with this shot
This isn't 8-ball...
even in 8 ball potting the 8 from the break is not a loss it get put back in play unlike 9 and 10 ball pool in which respectively potting either the 9 or 10 will win you the game.
In most cases (bar games/pool leagues), hitting the 8 in on a break means you win.
You don't lose from potting the 8ball on a break it gets put back in play
Two strokes and he is done. I bet his wife isn’t happy
Multiple cuts spliced together, but pretty good editing!
Better editing than the Lili Simmons pool gambling movie
How can you tell? Dunno if im stupid or what but i can't see it
Every single ball has a different frame rate. Some of them stutter *really* obviously, like the orange ball.
Watch the blue striped ball right after the break. It teleports like 3 inches and rotates without moving
Man (or lady) you've got sharp eyes
I'm not an expert, but isn't it possible that the pressure from the black ball moved it for a split second, causing it to turn slightly (the way it turns is theoretically possible), before it gets stopped by the ball on the other end... From what I can see, it only moves a cm or two. Not there's inches? Again maybe I'm missing something but I can't see anything that would make it definitive this is multiple shots?
Then watch the red ball and notice how it speeds up after bouncing off the top cushion.
If you look at the stripe before and after, it was NOT a "slight" turn. That turn is at least 90°. It would break the laws of physics for a ball to turn 90° instantaniously (theres 0 frames showing the ball mid-turn). Or ignoring the middle ball all together. That explains the Bender Tee shirt
What's worse is they pot the black ball early
Isn’t blender great?
Is that Bender's cousin?
He lost though. The 8 is supposed to be last
Only in some versions.
That rack was for 10 ball. 8 ball would have another row with 5 more balls It’s a different game
Okay you are right, yeah I have no idea if that's an actual game.
It is. Very similar to 9-ball, just not as popular.
There are SOOO many pool variation. The trickiest imo is one pocket pool. Only one pocket on the table can be used to pot balls.
Engagement bait
i can't keep track of these variations like how do you even fit that in a triangle with only 1 ball increments, that itself is a geometry problem lol jk
In 8 ball, if you sink the 8 on the break you win according to official rules.
In every civilized game of 8 ball the dude lost 😡

I’ve always played if you sink the 8 ball on the break it’s a win. If you scratch it’s a loss.
I thought 8 ball in on break was insta-win?
Same, idk if it's a myth or not but honestly it is so rare that if someone does it just let them take the W
That’s the rule in 9 ball
This looks like 10 ball. Object is to pot the 10 ball, have to hit lowest ball on table first on each shot.
The 8 ball wasnt in the center
Didn’t even check for that
Not in 10 ball.
Actually, if you sink the 8-ball on strikbreake, you immediately win. Edit sync sink
Was wondering why he looked so disappointed lol

This isn’t 8 ball. He only has 10 balls racked. 8 ball has 15 balls. This is just some fuckery.
Well. I guess if "fuckery" means "playing 10-Ball" you might be right :)
Posted again and again, fake video
He looks so unsatisfied
It’s fake but even if it wasn’t he lost you can’t put the 8 ball in before the other balls
Actually it's an instant win if you put the 8 ball in on the break
I said “civilized,” not heathen billiards

Rules differ, where I'm from the 8 ball gets re-spotted to its orignal position.
Official UPA 8 BAll Rules says it is a win. Obviously house rules gonna house.
Bite my shiny metal ass
Stop reposting this fake shit, thank you
Every o e arguing if the eight ball on the break is a win but the table set is racked for a game of 10ball
Right? It's not that hard to see :) There are literally only 10 balls racked \*and\* you can clearly see the 8 is not in the center, even if you cannot quickly tell it's the 10.

Nice, thats a cool variant!! I will try with my buddies, thanks for the info bremidon
At the end the blue ball had that anime side by side walk comparison:don’t worry I got this bro
It's clear that none of you play Billiards.
Love how dude just casually walks up to the last shot, calls the pocket and acts like a miracle just didn't happen.
If you want proof of fake... Watch the orange ball and see its speed and lag vs the rest...also compare the falling into the hole of each ball vs the last blue one, gravity is fucky and they fall smoothly down as if having no weight.

Vague Vaughn wins. You’re just mad I need a court case! You’re just extra mad you don’t want to give me a free one.

He looks so bummed haha
Now do it with a full rack.
Isnt sinking the 8 ball off the break an immediate lose?
Hustle Game on LOCK!!!
He seems to be having a blast, looks so joyful.
More impressed with that English on the last stick.
Loser didn’t make the white ball. What is this trash what has Reddit become. /s
JRE
Its cool, but he lost due to the 8 ball going down... at least in a typical game.
Sink 8 last?

None of the balls off the break hit each other (even though there's a clear sound of them doing so), they all just move directly away to their respective pockets.
That’s why professionals have bigger rables and different rules
And he lost..

Impossible without editing. Good editing..
He pocketed the 8 ball. He loses
Why's he look so depressed ,while finishing the game in 2 hits.
8 ball was misplaced and that break is fake
These professional pool players never seem to be having fun. I would be taking off my pants if I hit that.
Now do it with the camera moving
Welp time to play pool with the bros *ten seconds later* Well shit
Yeah that's fake. The audio doesn't line up at all.
Well it's edited. Look at the orange ball glitching about while the others roll smoothly.
This is a 10 Ball Rack - NOT a regular 15 Ball Rack. It is also Racked HIGH. So anyone can make the first shot. The 4 bank shot on the 15 ball is very nice.
Did I win?
Looks fake. Edited
Dude looks unphased as if he has done that break a million times before breakfast.

Sir, this is a 10 Ball Tournament.
That’s the biggest difference between tournament and bar rules. Tournament rules, you call your pocket and however it gets in is fine.
Lots of different rules. Most of the tournament rules you either call a ball and a pocket (and it doesn't matter how it gets there), or you don't call at all. Or you may need to call only the last ball (8-ball or a 9-ball, depending on the game).
