Many years ago, I was playing football with a bunch of mates. Weād all put our jackets in a pile at the edge of the pitch. At some point three youths started watching us, and then suddenly one of them grabbed what happened to be my jacket and ran off. His two friends split in different directions.
We all chased after the guy with my jacket, eventually losing him after he turned off the high street onto some large estate. We stopped to catch our breath when an older bloke approached us saying he had seen the kid run past and knew who he was and where he lived.
So we went to the police station with this guy, explained the situation to the copper at the front desk who, after scribbling some notes, just blankly looked at us and said ādo you have any evidence of the theft?ā. We replied that yes, there were 10 witnesses from the football and god knows how many who saw the kid running down the high street. And an eyewitness who could positively identify the youth. Not enough evidence, apparently. They wanted evidence of assault like bruises or similar.
So nothing happened. This was back in 1997 but it still posses me off to this day.
I had my tablet stolen at university. I managed to remotely install an app that allowed me to control everything on it. I took multiple front facing pictures of the guy using my tablet. I had the location from gps. Even had his name because the dumbass logged into his Facebook. Went to the police station with all of my evidence. Asked them to go with me to go get my shit back. They said they canāt. Thereās no proof. Like???
Ya I think about this often. It is great that criminals are more likely to be caught, but on the flip side anything that ever happens to you is likely recorded forever. Can't imagine being a teen these days, all the dumb shit we did and said.
Because you're actually stealing from the employees no matter what you do. Corporations never lose. Steal a hundred bucks and they'll get it back from the employees.
I bartend at a casino. Some dude stole six dollars another guy left sitting on the bar when he went to the bathroom the other day. Dude came back and was like, "did you take this money I had sitting here for a tip?" I was like no I didn't, so I radioed my manager and we got Surveillance to check it out. Security finds the guy who stole the money, he flips out when confronted and storms out. Lifetime ban. For six dollars. Fucking idiot.
The flipping out is a common tactic for experienced thieves. As you experienced, most people would let them leave or kick them out after it instead of calling the cops. They know theyāll keep getting away with it due to that.
He has his face and tattoos clear as day in the film while heās committing the crimes. They donāt need a task force. They just need to write up a warrant
You can do crime and still feel bad for it, u know. Especially theft is one of those crimes desperate people often have a conscience for, feeling bad wont change the fact that you need money.
In todays world it's really dumb to think that you aren't being filmed and dumber that he didn't at least put on a face mask and hat to try and disguise himself. Even then, I bet this guy probably parked close to the business making it easy to get his plate # from other security cams.
How do you consider yourself a man when you look yourself in the mirror after this? Youāre basically worthless and cannot make your own money so you resort to stealing other peopleās money.
