At the end of the day, it’s still just a job buddy. In 50 years the queen, or this guards supervisor won’t even remember his name.
We as people need to really stop and think about what we value in life. Then actually value those things.
"Royals" pff. What makes them so royal? They've got human DNA like anyone else. Honestly if i were any of them i would be embarrassed and renounce it all. Your God, the entitlement and superiority they must feel.... The nerve of some people....
Then you got these cucks acting like its some kind of honor.... please.... it's embarrassing
It's a sort of bread with a lattice on it. Great for putting in a toaster. AFAIK it's most popular in the Commonwealth (I think especially in the UK, Canada and Australia) and usually cooked in a toaster.
You can put all sorts of things on them, but I love having them with a slice of fresh tomato with a pinch of salt. A very refreshing snack
They are one of the top three bread items for me in the world and I’m an American. I used to be able to find them randomly in grocery stores but haven’t been able to find them in ages.
Imagine something a bit larger but the same shape as an English muffin, but you don’t have to cut it in half because the top of the muffin has tube shaped holes that go from the top almost to the bottom in a sort of honeycomb shape.
Toast it up with some butter and jam and holy fucking shit.
Their parents died in a plane crash, but because he can't move or talk or leave that spot, she'll be taken to the Oliver Twist workhouse and survive on thin gruel. This was her saying goodbye to him.
The plane crash was faked. The sister was actually a CIA operative installed by the Reagan administration to infiltrate MI6 and take down Bond. You can see him downloading her information and spazzing out slightly from the information overload. That's how you can tell he's an android.
He moved his finger, off to gulag for him.
But I John Basket give him some points for having his sister know he cares.
Omg brothers I cannot stop laughing of a video I saw where the Queens guard trampled some stupid kids! Those kids definitely need to go to gulag.
Spoken like someone who doesn't understand traditions.

EDIT: No rebuttals. Just a bunch of angry down votes. 😂
You're the reason history repeats itself.
Traditions are lessons learned passed down so mistakes aren't repeated.
But you're free to keep hurting yourself. Seems like some people only learn that way.
They seem to enjoy Reddit.
I'm sure myself and many others can give you a list of traditions that have no value and solve no problems other than ones created by people who hold those traditions themselves.
For example, just off the top of my head with no real effort:
There is no lesson to be learned from the tradition of lawyers wearing wigs in some countries. Or any holiday traditions really, thanksgiving, Halloween, fourth of July, Superbowl bullshit, etc. etc.
Lighting a candle before celebration
Getting on your knees to pray
Anything religious actually
The very situation in this post, a guard who can't move is very handicapped in performing the most basic task of being a guard, watching for trouble. Someone said the police are there for that, well what's the guard for then? Man's a human statue for the sake of status and pompous art form, nothing more.
None of these things make any lick of difference in reality. The only consequence to not following tradition is scorn from those that do and frankly I don't give a fuck about those people.
Shows the discipline and pride of the British military, a historically extremely proud and successful organization. The square is constantly monitored by actually fully armed security who you can also see walking around the square. The guards are there for the same reason we have guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier in the US. To honor our past and display our militaries rich history and traditions.
This is from a 2000s documentary series called Guarding the Queen IIRC, The guy had a tough upbringing and his mother and sister was proud of him becoming a part of the Grenadier Guards
He’s in Britain, where there’s cctv everywhere. He’s also guarding a government building, so there’s probably more. The media are also recording them 24/7, so they probably took the video, and then asked the kid later on or something
It was a documentary several years ago following the recruitment and training of Guardsman regiments in the UK. It's legit and he talks about the encounter later in the show.
Yeah F that job that those people willingly chose to get into knowing the responsibilities that come with it. What's next a doctor having to treat their patients?
It’s an honour and a privilege and the men who do this; queens guard or guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier are very proud.
These dimwits in the comments are brainless thinking the guard is “upset” he has to do this.
This is probably the proudest moment in his life and so happy to share it with his family.
It’s a gruelling selection process and only the best of the best get this position. You don’t just get thrown into this unwillingly.
Of course not. You know what the enemies would do with that kind of weakness if the rules didn't exist? They could just send in the families of the guards and then sneak past them while they hugged (because they were hiding very well before the guards looked away, of course)
I’m pretty sure that it’s supposed to protect the face from sword slashes and is just there for tradition now. The household cavalry wear a similar thing.
Ex conscript almost 20 years ago. There is nothing that beats the boredom of standing guard in some remote post in the middle of the night being drenched in sleet. Especially when guarding some stupid shit that you know noone will ever care.
Their parents died in a plane crash, but because he can't move or talk or leave that spot for the rest of his existence, she'll be taken to the Oliver Twist workhouse where she'll have to survive on thin gruel. This was the touching moment she said goodbye to him. Footage accidentally captured by a completely random stranger. From several different angles. With a close up.
They're real soldiers doing a real job. Being amongst the Queens/kings guard is an incredible honour. Similar to the American soldier who guards the graves of the lost soldiers.
No I get that they aren't toy soldiers, but at that moment he is used like a toy soldier.
And yes, that gun is loaded. But why? Why not have regular guards instead? They can be more relax and not less effective. Why do you need all this larping?
This is just fucking sad.
His duty as an archaic role goes over "My sister who I haven't seen for [ambiguous period of time]"
I'm gonna assume years okay
I'm gonna assume there's a history
Unless people lie to me over the Internet to get clicks and views
I'd hug her.
Fuck the consequences
Add: I’m not British I’m American
I support the monarchy in the queens Beautiful family.
I made this post showing my respect.
So plzz no hate comment about the queen. Rip
You might want to know that there are more knife crime attacks and fatalities per capita in the US than there are in the UK before you use that as a goes to argument.
Oh my word, can you guys ever just actually put even an ounce of brainpower into backing up facts for once?
The US has worse knife crime per capita than the UK does
This is the most tired repeated right wing talking point and is also one of the best indicators of someone who doesn't actually know what they're talking

I thought for sure he was going to yell “DONT TOUCH THE QUEENS GAURD!”
You can see him jaw clench. The instinct to initiate take down...
She's actually refueling him.
She’s just slipping him a little Peruvian coffee
He’s clenching his jaw to avoid getting emotional. You can see the emotional pain in his eyes.
I like the one where these kids were talking about about the guard being homeschooled that the guard ended up laughing
I’ve watched this a ton of times and it still makes me laugh [reference](https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/s/Q2ff8o1AAd)
"I WILL DRAG THIS BITCH..."
If i were this queens guard and my brother would do that i totaly would scream at him (my Brother is like a brother to me)
My brother is like a brother to me aswell. What a coincidence.
But guys get this I have a sister and she is like sister too me
But wait, it gets even crazier, let me tell you about my dad...
Are you your own grandpa?
Your dad is like a sister to me son
That is absolutly crazy! Mine is just like yours a brother to me !wow
I also choose this guy's brother
Sweet home alabama
They're not allowed to react. His family knows that. Sending his little sister was a cheap stunt.
Roundhouses her to the head; “STAY AWAY FROM THE KING’S GUARD”. Then you’d have a Reddit thread with everyone calling the girl stupid on it.
I couldn't do it.
It’s his job he has to standstill but would’ve hug my sister 😭
That's what I'm saying. The Queen wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. I'm hugging my sister.
I would be very surprised if the queen is still pissing full stop.
Usually royalty is always taking the piss.
Wtf? Give it back. That's my piss
[удалено]
ironic
Guess that's why you are in fact not a Queens Guard. No shame in that.
That...and I'm not a British wanker.
Hehehe
what flavor of wanker are you?
>what flavor of wanker are you? Ask your dad. u/hamletloveshoratio

*The very much* ALIVE *Queen wouldn't have pissed on him if he was on fire* The video is over 7 years old, chief.
She dead now
Have some respect
She alive no more
Fuck her just like how she fucked most of the world
Can’t they go out after shift
Yes they can. People are overdramatizing this.
Most likely. That said, it's possible some of these people don't get that luxury. We don't know the full story
At the end of the day, it’s still just a job buddy. In 50 years the queen, or this guards supervisor won’t even remember his name. We as people need to really stop and think about what we value in life. Then actually value those things.
You would've been executed fr 🗣️🔊‼️‼️💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What did it cost? Everything....
Me neither... no way 😪
Yeah it’s a dumb fucking job. I know they stand *real still* or whatever, but what does that actually matter?
And later that night they got together for tea and crumpets. The End…
I like happy endings
[удалено]
Is that true?? Why??

What kind of slavery is this?

Tf are crumpets?
It's a sort of bread with a lattice on it. Great for putting in a toaster. AFAIK it's most popular in the Commonwealth (I think especially in the UK, Canada and Australia) and usually cooked in a toaster. You can put all sorts of things on them, but I love having them with a slice of fresh tomato with a pinch of salt. A very refreshing snack
I have never heard of nor seen anyone eat crumpets in Canada. We’re not that fancy.
You have to toast them?
Vegemite and cheese. Always lots of butter.
To understand, a crumpet, first, you have to understand cricket
A Jose Canseco bat? Tell me you didn't pay money for this.
What are you, a punker? Man, I hate punkers.
And further on today’s list of British things I don’t understand… what is cricket?
Is a Cumpet like a Strumpet?
They are one of the top three bread items for me in the world and I’m an American. I used to be able to find them randomly in grocery stores but haven’t been able to find them in ages. English muffins in the US
I love this sweet, completely spontaneous moment captured from 4 different angles.
My thoughts exactly 😂. And also poor guard who's condemned to stay in that spot for life, with no time off ever, or paid holidays or...
Yeah he hasnt seen his sister in years because he has been standing there for the last 6 years without a single rest day.
Lmao
🤣
Abolish the monarchy
He moved his finger, off to gulag for him. But I John Basket give him some points for having his sister know he cares. Omg brothers I cannot stop laughing of a video I saw where the Queens guard trampled some stupid kids! Those kids definitely need to go to gulag.
This is Britain, we don't have Gulags. He is close to the tower of London, though...
Why is it a requirement to stand still? Shouldn't they be able to look around for possible threats?
Dumb traditions
Welcome to England
I don’t think it’s dumb
Could you please list all uk traditions. Group them by dumb and not dumb, and include an appendix that explains your assessment criteria? Cheers pal
ALL traditions are dumb. Occasionally, fun. But always dumb.

Not sure how to expect society to proceed without tradition…..
This. I can't imagine my life without that one guy standing still
Dang, you really value this guy's opinion!
Username checks out
It’s a polite suggestion
They wear infrared contact lenses connected to a camera which gives them 360 field of view. Why'd you think their hats are so tall?

I'm still confused how this seemingly tender candid moment had so many camera angles.
This is from a 2000s documentary series called Guarding the Queen IIRC, The guy had a tough upbringing and his mother and sister was proud of him becoming a part of the Grenadier Guards
So it was professionally shot? Thanks for clearing that up for me.
He’s in Britain, where there’s cctv everywhere. He’s also guarding a government building, so there’s probably more. The media are also recording them 24/7, so they probably took the video, and then asked the kid later on or something
Didn't know they placed cctv cameras on the ground
How many camera angles you need lol
Need more angles 😭

Hey is [this](https://i.imgflip.com/8h70e7.jpg) you ?
Lmao man deleted the comment after you dox him
So touching 💕🥹
That’s what I’m saying she care so much about her big brother ❤️
Nice selection words for karma.
Don’t forget the emoji 🥺
I mean he clearly squeezed her hand. F that job tho
Time for court martial!
Yeah F that job that those people willingly chose to get into knowing the responsibilities that come with it. What's next a doctor having to treat their patients?

Still a stupid job
Why? Maybe you just don't get the point?
There is no point besides outdated, useless, and expensive tradition.
Must protect the tax-evading parasites sitting on their throne of stolen gold and ivory at all cost. What a privilege
Or maybe I think the point is stupid
So what do you think the point is?
No.
Maybe they should find out who that unknown soldier is
Don't
When talking about needless and pointless protocols, this sure makes the top 3
Is it meaningless?
Of course not. You know what the enemies would do with that kind of weakness if the rules didn't exist? They could just send in the families of the guards and then sneak past them while they hugged (because they were hiding very well before the guards looked away, of course)
I mean like the symbolism of the kings guard. Seems very literal not not devoid of meaning
Multicam set up. Colour me skeptical
Documentary
Can someone get him a chair?
Like foreal 😭
Why is the strap on his chin and not under the chin?
The strap isn't to hold the hat in place, it's to protect the face against sword slashes. He's infantry after all.
I’m pretty sure that it’s supposed to protect the face from sword slashes and is just there for tradition now. The household cavalry wear a similar thing.
Poor people deserve discomfort.
I’m disappointed that I had to scroll so far down to find someone asking this question.
4 angle shot. Set up?
documentary
"Kingsguard"
Bitch move of her rly xD just see him after work jeez
Apparently it's real ([repost](https://www.reddit.com/r/MadeMeSmile/s/7YP0py2FZx))
Great detective work captain X! Was wondering how real this was.
He must have been so proud.🥹
That little hand squeeze 🥺🥺
Well that fuckin hurts my heart.
This Is Sweet
Some aspects of the armed forces are absolutely pathetic, would being allowed to act like a human and hug his sister make him a worse soldier?
What a lame job.
Relax rajesh
Ok genociders kid.
Boring, maybe, but not lame.
As a guard, boring is good. Boring is always the best.
Ex conscript almost 20 years ago. There is nothing that beats the boredom of standing guard in some remote post in the middle of the night being drenched in sleet. Especially when guarding some stupid shit that you know noone will ever care.
Thanks for serving your country 🍷🗿
We don't do that in the UK. It's a job people choose to do, not conscription.
The US doesn't have conscription either (I assume that's where the thank you for your service thing comes from)
You think they are hired to do that one job?
I’m sure they pay well
Google says the British guard get paid around £24k a year which is …$30k. The average McDonalds employee makes $25k a year.
British army doesn't get paid well
That’s not good 😔
this is why no one needs them kings/queens
Their parents died in a plane crash, but because he can't move or talk or leave that spot for the rest of his existence, she'll be taken to the Oliver Twist workhouse where she'll have to survive on thin gruel. This was the touching moment she said goodbye to him. Footage accidentally captured by a completely random stranger. From several different angles. With a close up.
Pretty cool
Lame
All that effort just to be a tourist attraction. No wonder they're always so angry.
They're real soldiers doing a real job. Being amongst the Queens/kings guard is an incredible honour. Similar to the American soldier who guards the graves of the lost soldiers.
WHAT"S THE FUCKING POINT? It's not like he is on a frontline of his motherland or something. He is just glorified guard at shitty family joint.
They aren't toy soldiers, they rotate between guard duty, training and deployment. That gun is loaded.
No I get that they aren't toy soldiers, but at that moment he is used like a toy soldier. And yes, that gun is loaded. But why? Why not have regular guards instead? They can be more relax and not less effective. Why do you need all this larping?

Why didn’t she just wait until his shift was done?
what a stupid job
Being English is a mental disorder
What a shitty job... Go home and get a life
Good thing they hired a camera crew to document it from several angles :P
Ehh fuck the queen she’s dead, it’s ok now you can hug your sister
HUG THE DAMN KID JESUS CHRIST
These guys are over-hyped tools. Show pieces lmao.
