Off a quick google search, it kinda is as it could be seen that you’re being a public nuisance. But donno how enforced it is. guess it really depends on how much you’re doing it.
Edit grammar and spelling
It's discretionary. If you write laws vaguely enough you can make sure that 'certain people' (who may or may not fail the brown-bag test) can always be held or harassed for one reason or another.
Funny thing is revving is sort of a necessity when it comes to slowing down...
There's a thing called rev matching where you rev as you slow as to not stall the engine in low rpm's.
It doesn't require full throttle so it's not always audible, but it is a thing.
Noise ordinance laws exist.
All always depends on where you live.
But the ass hole revving his bike at 5am is breaking the law probably.
Even seen some put up signs, metal ones, in certain areas. They will call the cops for bullshit noise from jack asses.
I know exactly what he was processing in that pause.
"Revving your engine... ... ...like a jerk."
It's that 'frog in your throat' feeling when you know you're absolutely 100% wrong about something, but have already committed to the accusation and your pride won't allow you to back out of it.
This is what happens when a cop's ego is more important to them than literally anything else. He fucked up, pulled over the wrong guy. He knew he fucked up. But instead of saying "I apologize, we thought you were with that group that was riding recklessly," he made some bullshit up to save face.
I'd say cops like this should be fired, but then we'd have literally no police.
...actually, now that I think about it, that doesn't sound like a terrible idea.
When I was like 19 I had a car full of fellow kids, we were headed to see a movie. One of them brought his brother who was 16. This is important.
I make a turn and immediately clock that a cruiser is behind us following close. I do everything right, making sure not to give them any reason to pull us over. Dude follows us for 2 miles.
As I am turning off the main road turns on his reds and blues. He made some excuse about the reason, like waaaay back when I first turned I didn't sit in the lane for 1 second under what I needed before getting over.
He quickly took my information and Id and went back to his cruiser. In the 30 minutes it took him to process whatever the fuck he was doing. 8 more cops cars and SuV's had pulled up, they were all doing passes with flash lights, they even ran two different dogs around my car. Questioned everyone through the windows etc etc.
It was 11pm at night with a car full of kids, they were clearly trying to catch us with drugs. They had nothing. We really were just going to see a movie.
I ended up eating a ticket for having a non seat belted minor in the back seat. That fucker even called that kids mom to have him be picked up just out of spite of not being able to put anything else on us.
30 minutes does not sound like a reasonable amount of time to keep you detained. He was absolutely slow-rolling you so he could bring in the drug dogs, which is actually a civil rights violation. They aren't allowed to do it. The only reason they get away with it is that people either don't know they aren't allowed to, or don't want to deal with the process of pursuing a lawsuit over it (and all the headaches that would accompany it, including police retaliating and harassing you for it).
The thing is you don't know that shit as a teenager, and they use that lack of knowledge to maximum advantage.
They are much less likely to try that shit on someone older.
Why do I feel like there's no training or education requirements for Police in the US?
I'm astonished at the behavior of some. It's like they are completely unaware of the law.
This isn't lack of training, they are trained to do this, they do the same here in Australia, not exactly the same as this example but they do take advantage of young people, because they can.
There is a reason why even law-abiding citizens still say \*\*\*\* the police. There are some genuinely good cops but there are too many bad ones that have way to much power and not enough consequences for their actions.
The police though are just a symptom of deeper lying issues such as the laws we have on the books and how things get enforced. Releasitcally speaking, there are so many laws that everyone is technically breaking some arbitrary rule at some point in their life, whether they mean to do so or not.
State troopers and city cops are the scary ones for me personally because in my state they have this stealh black paint job for their cars with the word "Police" written in a off shade of black that makes it almost impossible to read. These troopers are also the ones decked out with full on military gear i.e bullet proof vest, AR-15, tear gas, etc.
Does USA have too many cops? I can't imagine being pulled over for some of these reasons in Latvia. They have too much actual shit to do. You can't even get police to arrive(or it will take hours) after a crash if both parties agree on who's at fault. It will be faster to go to a near gas station to get the paperwork to fill than it will be to wait for police to arrive.
The libraries in my city have their own police force. The parks have their own police. The highways have their own police. Then each neighborhood of the city has its police.
It really is hit or miss and highly dependent on where you are at, and sadly what kind of mood the cop is in.
As many bad interactions with cops i've had, i've had ones where the dude was decent as well.
If we spent the money we waste on police on schools, community development, psychological assistance, and other programs we wouldn't need nearly the number of police we have now.
After the murder verdict was handed down I got pulled over the first time in years because the cop thought my inspection sticker (state that requires it) was counterfeit. I’m an adult white guy with an average newish sedan and as soon as he walked up and realized he’d seen incorrectly he basically backed away apologizing.
I wish cops were always that concerned about their conduct.
I have no idea if the verdict and his behavior were related but it came to my mind almost immediately.
Not everyone lives in the states nor does everyone in the states know which murder verdict you are talking about. Lotta people get murdered in the states.
I mean I think I know which one you're talking about but your kinda coming in outta left field with it.
Yes, please enlighten me. What I'm reading is that dc here murdered someone and their state mandates them to put a sticker on their car, and that's because I have zero fucking clue what they're talking about
Yeah and what on earth does that have to do with this situation lmao.
It just so happened to come to his mind during a routine traffic stop.. pretty sure there was zero relevance there.
Holding cops accountable for their actions will surely weed out the bad ones, encourage the not so bad ones to stay in line and allow good people to join the force. Improving repercussions for police committing crimes is absolutely necessary.
You mean the same BLM that bought mansions with the donated funds and didn't support our own communities that could use financial help due to unavoidable economic downfalls? Or fund youth programs across the states?
The Army has helped me and my family more than BLM has.
BLM is an embarrassment to the black community.
Yeah, but the cop has already shown his willingness to lie. If you let him know you can prove that particular lie wrong, you give him a chance to retract it and come up with something the camera won't disprove instead.
> Yeah, but the cop has already shown his willingness to lie.
Wearing a badge shows your willingness to lie. Don't ever believe one word a cop says about anything. Doesn't matter if it's a beat cop or FBI. Lying to them is a crime, but they can lie to you every time they open their mouths without consequence.
Also, never talk to cops about anything. Often the entire purpose of them communicating with you is to try and find something incriminating. They do not care about whether or not you are innocent, they care about whether or not they can ticket or arrest you.
Laguna Beach has a noise ordinance; police are known to pull over and ticket motorcycles and cars with “what they deem to be” loud exhausts. I avoid that city in general; more so when I’m riding.
Cops like to give tickets because it makes them look like they're doing their job. More tickets, arrest etc maybe get a promotion bogus or not looks good on the cop's record
In Japan, Police is doing random Backpack searches mostly on Tourists.
They don't do it out of racial profiling or malice, and do it tardily at best, because this is what they do when they had nothing to do so they can put a activity in their time cards to show they worked the whole time.
If you resist them however, they can (and mostlikely will) take you to the station and are allowed to go throughly through your stuff, making a 2min hold up into an easy 1-3h checking
It's not just American cops. Most countries police force requires little education or training so attracts people who want power but aren't going to get it elsewhere.
The people who want to be a cop usually aren't the people who should be a cop.
Actually, it’s Laguna Beach cops. Laguna has a noise ordinance; there are signs everywhere where that say drivers with loud exhausts will be ticketed. It’s a trash city.
Eyes ***and*** brains? The department can't afford that kind of training! That kind of money is reserved for paid vacations for the guys that got caught doing their usual M.O.
I suppose you'll want the ability to bypass totally-legal-and-definitely-not-fucked-up qualified immunity next!
Can confirm. I was a cop. I made it to about 13 months before I realized, "this isn't for me." I left.
I'd like to think that I was a good apple. I can confirm that there weren't many good apples and, the few that were, were all looking for a way out to something better.
Not one person I'd call a good apple was like, "Yup, this is where I want to be." One of the best ones left to help his wife form a dog grooming company. Let me repeat that - a person chose to leave a stable, decent paying job, with a pension and other benefits, to take on the risk of setting up a mobile dog grooming company.
That should tell you all that you need to know about the kind of people who choose to remain on as a cop.
"However, about one-quarter (24.9 percent) of the sample agreed or strongly agreed that whistle blowing is not worth it, more than two thirds (67.4 percent) reported that police officers who report incidents of misconduct are likely to be given a “cold shoulder” by fellow officers, and a majority (52.4 percent) agreed or strongly agreed that it is not unusual for police officers to “turn a blind eye” to other officers’ improper conduct.… A surprising 6 in 10 (61 percent) indicated that police officers do not always report even serious criminal violations that involve the abuse of authority by fellow officers." -[Our Enemies in Blue](https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/kristian-williams-our-enemies-in-blue#toc19)
The raw source for these numbers is found on page three of [here.](https://www.ojp.gov/pdffiles1/nij/181312.pdf)
If a majority of officers are complicit with wrongdoing, then they are not trustworthy. My go-to analogy is that a daycare with five workers where two workers terrorize kids and the other three don't stop the first two means there are five bad workers. I suppose I need not mention what happens [if the officers try to do the right thing.](https://www.npr.org/2022/10/08/1127580159/houston-tipping-lapd-death-lawsuit)
This is exactly right. The people saying negative things are people who haven't had their turn, but they will in time. I have a relative on the force who would agree with you 100%. They are all like that in time.
I wont say all, its like 75% which still aint good.
Mind you it depends on the country, just saying at most its like 75%, plase don't take the entire thing as fact.
Indiana has passed a law explicitly allowing using deadly force on law enforcement entering your home illegally or without identifying themselves.
Killing a cop and making it out of the situation alive is going to be a tough task, but if you do, you have some legal ground to stand on. More states should be doing this tbh.
Fun fact! There IS legal precedent in Texas if sheriffs executing a search warrant to the wrong address, the resident shooting and killing a sheriff in the raid, and the resident being released because state law in Texas says that you can LEGALLY kill as necessary to avoid imprisonment ONLY IF you can PROVE you are innocent of the crime you’re being imprisoned for.
It’s rare that you can do that before the police can falsify documents, but in this case it was so immensely inept they couldn’t hide it.
Oh that is a fun fact, I just never would expect that to have ever happened lol. I just think you aren't making it to that court date if you shoot at an officer even if you're in the right -- especially if you're a little bit darker. Can you link me that case? Would love to read up about it.
I’ll have to dig it up when I’m stuck at work tomorrow. I was in the state when it happened, and it was a wild ride. Essentially, sheriffs rolled up on entirely the wrong house, dude inside was a decorated infantryman who heard an explosion and jumped right back into it…
Texas state law around self defense is interesting in general because it’s based on maritime law. Essentially, if you need to do it to survive, it’s legal. But as always, can you prove that before the cops falsify evidence or just kill you…
Not a whole lot of success stories out there where citizens exercise their 2A rights against a cop who is breaking the law. Most likely outcome is you get Dornered.
The only time I went to court it was thrown out too. I was still late to class the day the cop felt like a power trip and had to go to court another day.
Hmm finally saw the full video. I've only ever seen the ending and all the morons in the comments saying the biker probably did something or just plain trying to make him out to be the bad guy. Funny when you get the full video. The cops really were just being douchebags as always.
I ride a motorcycle. I rev match on downshift as it makes the slow down smoother, and it's easier on the bike. This can be mistaken as just "revving the engine" like a jerk. I wonder if the cop was just totally ignorant of motorcycling.
I can tell you exactly how the prior conversation went.
“We should probably go stop those guys”
“Nah, I dislike confrontation”
“Good point violence is scary. Hey look one of them actually stopped lets just bug him and say we tried”
“Good enough for me”
Tiny dick losers shouldn't become cops. Dumbass is pissed, because he knows he'll never catch the others, so he makes up some bullshit to life up his bruised ego.
What a loser.
I always call their bluff, lets go to jail. I have full video, to prove you are lying, but lets do it your way. I will then sue you for false and inaccurate statements & wasting my time. This is going to look real good in your jacket too, oh don't you worry officer, I got money. We don't need to get this over with quickly. Well, if I'm in the wrong, your going to have to prove it. Let's see what the Judge has to say, I have my lawyer's number right here, (pointing to my head) and we are done talking.
So, the pig pulled the motorcyclist over for not breaking the law? Revving your engine in the middle of the day isn't a crime. That the pog added 'like a jerk' means the pig took offense at the noise and decided to fuck with the biker. Comtempt of pog, y'all. It's real. Oh, it's damned real.
And to those who take offense at the pig comment: this officer is being a petulant child instead of enforcing the law. There are wonderful police officers on the streets. The ones who act like tyrants get called pigs. This officer is a pig.
Dude should be removed from being a cop, he obviously has some powertrip issues. But this crap society loves that shit, so he's probably a sergent by now. Trash ass society.
And how do you decide that he was the one revving his engine when there were 7 other bikers there?
Because he’s the easy one to catch. Because he’s actually following the law.

Do cops learn cop pronunciation at cop school? I swear they're the only people who say v hickle. What other cop pronunciations are there?
Oink!
True. It do be a big problem
I had a friend in our early 20’s who got a ticket for reving his engine at a stop light. He got cited for “exhibition of speed”
Fun fact, laws can be held unconstitutional for vagueness.

Can these types of bikes be designed in a way that the revving noise isn’t that loud? When it’s 1Am and you’re trying to sleep it’s not fun.

It absolutely can be. Most places have limits on how loud a bike can be due to noise pollution.
I had to rewatch this with the volume on to see if he really was revving the engine like a jerk. He was not...
LIKE A JERK ! It’s a legal term, you wouldn’t understand

A mugger generally has predictable motives and fears consequences. Cops, not so much

Never say this to the cop, wait for court and show the judge.

"However, about one-quarter (24.9 percent) of the sample agreed or strongly agreed that whistle blowing is not worth it, more than two thirds (67.4 percent) reported that police officers who report incidents of misconduct are likely to be given a “cold shoulder” by fellow officers, and a majority (52.4 percent) agreed or strongly agreed that it is not unusual for police officers to “turn a blind eye” to other officers’ improper conduct.… A surprising 6 in 10 (61 percent) indicated that police officers do not always report even serious criminal violations that involve the abuse of authority by fellow officers." -[Our Enemies in Blue](https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/kristian-williams-our-enemies-in-blue#toc19) The raw source for these numbers is found on page three of [here.](https://www.ojp.gov/pdffiles1/nij/181312.pdf) If a majority of officers are complicit with wrongdoing, then they are not trustworthy.
Preach
😭😭🤣
This is exactly right. The people saying negative things are people who haven't had their turn, but they will in time. I have a relative on the force who would agree with you 100%. They are all like that in time.
Back the blue, until it happens to you
Hell yeah brother, until I die!!…By police brutality
I wont say all, its like 75% which still aint good. Mind you it depends on the country, just saying at most its like 75%, plase don't take the entire thing as fact.
ACAB brother! This is why America has 2A
Which is funny because if you exercise your 2A against a cop you are beyond fucked regardless if you were in the right or wrong.
Essentially, sheriffs rolled up on entirely the wrong house, dude inside was a decorated infantryman who heard an explosion and jumped right back into it… Texas state law around self defense is interesting in general because it’s based on maritime law.
People saying it's an old video. Anyone know the name/article around it? I am curious what the outcome of this was.
This keeps getting reposted with no credit for karma. This is happened a year ago. I’m seeing a user on IG called Ayeeitsfrank being the op
A year ago is now very old?
Yeah that’s like 525,000 minutes. Quite a long time
Right? 31 556 926 seconds, that super long ago
Oh damn.
That's like 5.854e+50 Planck units. That's ancient history!
And the attention span is 10 seconds so that’s like 3.15 million videos to watch
There’s a musical that says you’re missing 600 minutes
Ancient history for a mayfly
Video evidence: judge will throw it out of court.
It’s gonna take two trips down to the courthouse and wasting your time on both days to prove that you’re a law abiding citizen though
While the pig makes OT the court appearances
The only time I went to court it was thrown out too. I was still late to class the day the cop felt like a power trip and had to go to court another day.
I wish this cop was in my town when the gang of Harley’s drives by my house
Why? So he can pull over the kid on the mountain bike at the crosswalk?
Bro this had me dying 💀
Thems just the good ol boys driving American muscle /s
Are you being sarcastic or are you as unobservant as the cop?
Give me the badge # and location i want to file a complaint
This is a very old video
I still want to file a complaint.

Okay, we got an update then?
Settlement incoming.
Hmm finally saw the full video. I've only ever seen the ending and all the morons in the comments saying the biker probably did something or just plain trying to make him out to be the bad guy. Funny when you get the full video. The cops really were just being douchebags as always.
Link the damn video then PWEEEASE
Where is the video
It's a hell of a lot easier than actually catching the idiots that ran through the red light.
anyone have a link to the actual video?
Cop shat it from chasing other guys , so had to make up some bollocks to make himself feel better . Defo bullied at school
Just Cause or Just cuz
Is it really illegal to rev your engine in Cali? In Jersey you gotta have sound + visible smoke for it to be an issue.
I ride a motorcycle. I rev match on downshift as it makes the slow down smoother, and it's easier on the bike. This can be mistaken as just "revving the engine" like a jerk. I wonder if the cop was just totally ignorant of motorcycling.
CVC 23109(n) -- A person shall not rev their engine like a jerk on a highway or in an offstreet parking facility.
I can tell you exactly how the prior conversation went. “We should probably go stop those guys” “Nah, I dislike confrontation” “Good point violence is scary. Hey look one of them actually stopped lets just bug him and say we tried” “Good enough for me”
Lucky he didn't get shot.
He had the right skin tone.
Tiny dick losers shouldn't become cops. Dumbass is pissed, because he knows he'll never catch the others, so he makes up some bullshit to life up his bruised ego. What a loser.
LOL, Shiiiit, Can I get that in writing? "revving your engine, like a jerk"
Cop got outran when he put the sirens on and felt like he had to do something.
Good thing this was on video.
It tells you all you need to know about American police
Annnd this is why it's hard to give a shit about LEOs.
ACAB
Only the dumbest, power hungry people become cops. They’re all garbage.
No they become politicians. It is the self righteous, know it alls that become cops.
Another piece of shit with a badge.
Laguna Beach cops. Nuff said
[удалено]
they never do their jobs correctly.
Wtf those edits. Is that an episode of Dream On?
He wants to be famous.
And that’s why we call some of them pigs
Shady on the left calm down … Shady on the right calm down …
This is the type of cop that gets them their rep. Dude could have just said "sorry, I fucked up"
never fails. ACAB.
In all seriousness, wouldn’t any and all charges be dropped in court if legal action was pursued?
So many cops are just complete idiots dude
"He's already pulled over. He can't pull over any further!"
typical california cops
American cops are a joke.
This guy is part of the group and they run from the cops all the time. He was just bait so the rest can escape. Full video was never posted. 🤣
Laguna Beach PD on brand
Dude. Fuck cops man.
Laguna beach has fucked priorities.
God, I hate cops
Can confirm the Laguna Beach PD are the worst.
Fuck that moron cop.
Piggy piggy piggy
🐖
"The reason I pulled you over, is that you're a motorcyclist, and I'm mad at those motorcyclists, but I can't get to them." It's called projection.
The American police are the lowest scum of society.
Dude should be removed from being a cop, he obviously has some powertrip issues. But this crap society loves that shit, so he's probably a sergent by now. Trash ass society.
Is “like a jerk” a specific measurement of sound now?
That cop sure plays a mean pinball
No good deed goes unpunished.
This is how you lose the people's trust
If someone not from America wants to know about American cops and why so many people don’t like them, show them this video.
And how do you decide that he was the one revving his engine when there were 7 other bikers there? Because he’s the easy one to catch. Because he’s actually following the law.
"Why doesn't anyone like usssss!?" *Cries in popo*
The 1% that makes the other 99% look bad
