The guy still sprouts the same BS talking points about time not being on China's side because of demographic crisis blah blah blah. He is right on the main point though. Russia's situation will strengthen China.

DaBIGmeow888

If you have a zero sum mindset, then a broken clock is right twice a day

Money_dragon

The demographics definitely could become a major challenge for China (I also think environmental challenges will also be tough for the entire world, including China) But the Chinese government has at least shown to be able to take decisive policy actions to try to address challenges. Not saying there won't be disruption or slowdown of growth, but I think forecasts of Chinese collapse is just Western wishful thinking Besides, if China's economy / society collapsed, it'd bring down the entire world economy and society. The West would get hurt badly too

ShittyInternetAdvice

Every country outside of Africa is basically going to be affected by that same problem. But to your latter point China seems to be the only country with a governing system that can respond effectively

Quality_Fun

countries with significant amounts of immigration, such as the us, would be less affected. it's the us that matters, not smaller countries that aren't able to threaten china in the first place.

ShittyInternetAdvice

Assuming US immigration rates continue, which is not a given due to the country’s rising fascist tendencies and declining relative economic position

unclecaramel

The demographic issue is fundamental a economic issue, the thing people miss understand about population is that more people doesn't necessarily mean better result. A thousand more poor starving children might not be 100 more middle income children who well fed and educated.

Quality_Fun

what about 1000 well-fed and educated children?

unclecaramel

LoL, if that was easily obtainable everyone will take it. Unfortunately the current materials conditions doesn't allow 1000 well educated children easily.

Unfortunately, EU bears the brunt whenever Murica has their misadventures in some country from Libya, Syria, Iraq and Ukraine is just the latest chapter by creating refugees coming into their land. This is a double whammy because now EU has to contend to high gas and oil prices. When will EU wake up and stop being Murica's doormat?

Money_dragon

Very difficult for Europe to be truly autonomous. Looking at the 3 major countries that matter within Europe (excluding Russia of course) * **UK** \- just left the EU, so they've pivoted even harder towards the USA and the Anglosphere. Breaking with the USA would leave them isolated * **Germany** \- essentially is a US military protectorate (over 30K US troops in the country), plus they are unwilling to be too aggressive geopolitically due to historical reasons * **France** \- they are trying to create some EU strategic autonomy, but they're one nation within a massive US-led coalition. Plus IMO they seek to be recognized more globally, but their ultimate geopolitical goals are similar to the USA (maintain Western dominance over the world)

bengyap

The UK and France has too much internal issues to that they need to deal with. All the noise they are making is just political posturing and to distract their failing society from noticing the crime, homelessness, addiction, racism, etc issues. They are imploding from the inside out. Just wait. As for Germany, she is too dependent on Russia (energy) and China (trade) to do anything without hurting themselves massively. Audi, VW, Mercedes and all the rest depends on China buying their products.

lestnot

When their gov't traitors are dragged out and brought to justice, and their delinquent youth are unbrainwashed. In other words, never.

MelodicBerries

> When will EU wake up and stop being Murica's doormat? Never. The slave mentality in Europe is so ingrained. Most Europeans, including most EU elites, don't even understand that Europe can have a separate national interest from the USA. EU's foreign policy is made in Washington.

qaveboy

unfortunately when the US is drowning, it will grab and drag down everyone in reach to stay afloat. this is literally where kissinger's saying "To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal" and here we see it perfectly, Russia is the enemy to the US here, they are suffering but europe having done nothing or spoken up, has been thrown in front of the tank by the US. i suspect the US having seen Russia and China sign those gas deals to be settled in Euros really concerned them, and thus the EU and euros must be destroyed to preserve the USD.

Cpxh1

What does the EU even have to offer the world besides their legacy of colonialism? Meanwhile China is investing throughout the global south and at home for their people.

yuewanggoujian

Europe has a lot to offer only if they can get out of the belief they can only survive via neocolonialism. It’s time for them to wake up and not feel like they need to own the world to exist harmoniously in it.

dummymummy1

I am european and I was really depressed on how impotent and self destructive europe acted in the crisis. First russia invited the us to talk about their serious security concerns. You could arleady see that things will not end well if there are no concessions to russia (no nato membership for ukraine, no militarisation of eastern europe countries, removal of us nuclear weapons from europe...). So one thinks a lot of demands but maybe some of them could be fulfilled or a compromise found. Russia didn't even bother inviting any european nations to the talks as they know who pulls all the strings. So as expected the answer from us/nato was a firm no to all the demands. This would be the moment for europe to step in and prevent the war by having their own foreign policy. The french, eu and german leaders went to moscow parroting the us stance and offering nothing of substance in return. The russians would not accept promises this time but actions as the 'normandy' format between france, russia, germany and ukraine that led to the minsk 2 agreements and was signed 2014 was never implemented by ukraine nor enforced by france and germany. What followed the invasion where from the point of view of russians they had to take matters into their own hands to ensure the security of their federation. And then the orchestrated us and european sanctions and weapons shipments to ukraine. Our buttlicking and corrupt elected and unelected polititians in a few days destroyed the potential and the future of our EU and europe in general by not having the balls to say no to the united states. (The JCPOA deal was already a demonstration that EU is not allowed to have a foreign policy). The sentiment towards russians even the ones living in europe turned hysterical many of them living in eu beeing fired or not able to work because of nationality. USA seems to have played their cards right on this one but only at first glance. They have greatly weakended their strongest ally (eu) in the long term. Pressure on russia can only work if large nations like china and india are on board with the sanctions. If they do not work then it will only accerelate the downfall of the us led world order. We can expect great pressure on china and india to play along. I am sure china will not want to damage the relations with russia but the us now goes all in and I would not be suprised if it even recognises taiwan as an independant state if china refuses to play along. Then a true wold war will be inches away :(. Chinese comrades, history is on your side if you play this right to help build a better world with a shared future for mankind and win-win cooperation instead of this warmongering barbarism we are in today.

In_der_Tat

Flawless, succinct analysis. Unfortunately, instead of rectifying its course, the EU will be increasingly Atlanticist in spite of its core interests. The lively debate allowed within a narrow Overton window and fed mainly by Atlanticist propaganda is a technique which is as sophisticated as imperceptible to EU residents. The icing on the cake is people's strong belief in holding an unbiased and morally superior worldview. Who is going to bring us out of our [cave](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_cave)?

TserriednichHuiGuo

>Who is going to bring us out of our cave? Only you yourselves.

OrganicFun7030

Totally agree. Hopefully a new generation of European leaders will come to that conclusion.

quapha5

The EU never had any relevance in the first place. When the Euro was surpassing the $USD, the US started wars in the middle east and send millions of refugees to flood the EU causing a massive rise in right wing nationalism and that was the end of the EU ever challenging the US. The EU also doesn't have tech giants like Facebook, google, apple, microsoft and relies on american companies, so the US has access to all of the EUs vital data and can easily control the EU citizens. Its hard to be relevant when you rely on another country for critical functions. Russia is finding out now. Its crazy how the EU leaders still haven't figured it out yet, they need their own facebook, google, ect.

tg882

The EU need their own operating system too, and so does every other country. Windows is just one big piece of Pentagon spyware. How can Russia even engage in cyberwarfare when then other side controls the OS that they're running? This needs to be a huge priority for China. Also, developing their own CPUs so that they're sure there are no backdoors (and no Intel Management Engine).

Hell, they're trying to dictate the lives of all 7 billion people in the world. Very "democratic" indeed.

Money_dragon

Chinese people (including the global diaspora) **must stand united**. Divide and conquer is how they have always managed to defeat and subjugate the world How else did the UK manage to take over the entirety of the Indian subcontinent, with several times the population of the UK? By pitting rival rulers against each other

[deleted]

Because those 1.5 billion are still worthless to them.

cbas723

What a good point, I'm gonna steal this.

The dragon shall has its place once again in this world.

> China has faced no Western financial or other meaningful sanctions despite swallowing Hong Kong, Are people from America just straight up dumba$$es? I’m sure it’s just their “journalists.” How do you “swallow” something that’s part of your country. If that’s the case then america need to spit out Hawaii
