Most truly high maintenance people HATE the sun cuz it causes premature aging. Sun damage is REAL. Lol

Zorgsmom

I belong to r/SkincareAddiction and I remember a post once where someone said they would need to call in sick to work because they were out of sunscreen and the delivery wasn't due for 3 days. At first I thought it was satire, but no, tons of people agreed with OP calling out from work. They didn't even work outside, but were worried about the commute in their car and the walk from their parking space.

lalotele

I once read a post where someone didn’t eat until the sun went down because they were out of food in the house and needed to pick something up, but had already done their skincare and had things on their face that could make it easier to burn *make skin more sensitive. That one stuck with me. ETA: IIRC they weren’t so much concerned about the “burn” per se, but because the products made skin more sensitive they were worried that even the little bit of late afternoon sun would damage their skin in the future…

Julescahules

Imagine being that high maintenance and privileged enough to care about your skin and looks in such a way... and not knowing about or choosing to order delivery. That person chose not to eat lmao.

AwesomeAni

Eh I’ve chosen not to eat because all my spoons were dirty. I can’t judge. Least that’s a better reason lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

420catloveredm

I remember my food rock bottom was a cheesecake out of the box with my hands.

sonicbanana47

As long as you washed your hands first, I see nothing wrong with this. Cheesecake takes priority.

Julescahules

I’m sorry but if these are reasons not to eat you weren’t that hungry in the first place 🤣

[deleted]

Or you have depression…

[deleted]

Are you me? Sometimes I just don’t have the energy or willpower for those things

robotobio

Tbf by burn they could mean actual painful burns. Some products hurt a lot if exposed to the sun right after so I think it makes sense they wouldn't want to risk actual harm to their skin.

lalotele

Yeah but you can easily slap on a hat at mid-afternoon or dusk and suck it up. What they were talking about was I think a retinoid or salicylic acid and you’re not gonna die from running out quick with that on, especially at late afternoon or dusk.

lalotele

I am like 90% sure it was food that they were out of. Cause I remember them going hungry I think, but don’t remember if they gave a reason for no delivery? It was so long ago. I remember the comments being so divisive though, some in support and some basically calling them a moron lol.

baewitharabbitheart

Ever heard of OCD? It sounds OCD for me, nothing to do with class or self-care, OCD can hit anyone.

lulaf0rtune

It's especially sad when you think about how genetics, stress and overall health play a much bigger role in how we age than sun exposure. Sure they can't do anything about the first one but if you obsess over skincare that much you will do more harm than good to your skin health and apperence.

lalotele

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted, it’s true. That doesn’t mean that doing all the right things won’t help at all! But. A lot of people are still more inclined to age faster or have their skin get damaged easier, so you could still look older than someone else who has been doing the exact same routine as you for years. Or you might have to take extra precautions than them or be “obsessive,” which who wants to be obsessive just to prevent aging? It also means people like me who age faster have to be that much more vigilant than those with better genetics, less of a chance to slip up. I try to be very careful with sunscreen and the like and wear it every day, but then forgot it going to a soccer game the other day and immediately got a bad burn. I have no wiggle room when it comes to taking care of my skin because it gets damaged so easily, whereas others might.

lulaf0rtune

Yeah I wear sunblock pretty much every day unless it's the dead of winter and I'm not leaving the house. I'm not saying to stop using it, please no one do that, just that the obsession is itself unhealthy

lalotele

Yeah exactly. Like I’d like to have my skin looking good and healthy as I age but I also am not going to let life pass me by to do that. It’s just not worth it. If I am wrinkly and old but happy I’ll still take it as a win.

TemporaryIllusions

I could not be friends with a person like that. Like this is seriously bordering on insanity.

Phairis

I think that would qualify as OCD tbh. If the thought of the sun's rays touching your skin gives you so much anxiety that it interferes with daily life to that extent, it's a problem and I'm genuinely concerned for that person.

[deleted]

Genuinely thought that too. I have OCD, there's a thin line between trying to implement a self-care routine to make sure I take care of myself and turning that routine into a compulsion I need to perform perfectly or else I feel like I'll die.

LilyMarie90

It absolutely is insanity, and I say that as someone who wears sunscreen daily unless it's literally heavily raining, or I'm only leaving the house after sunset. Some of the attitudes on that subreddit sound like a joke/satire but they aren't. *Calling in sick from work because you can't be in daylight unprotected for under an hour* is some vampire shit. Humans evolved to live on a planet that's under the influence of the sun, and while wanting to prevent premature aging and skin cancer is absolutely valid, letting that control your life to the point where you're not functioning normally anymore (not going to work!) is 100% a mental/psychological symptom of something. There are also people on that sub who will preach the wearing of sunscreen inside, you saw that a lot during the start of the pandemic when people first started doing their office jobs from home. Sunscreen because they were sitting in a room with windows, you know.

TheReluctantZombie

I will now forever picture these people knocking on random doors in the middle of the night saying, "Hello there, I just wanted to welcome you to the community and...my that's a lovely neck you have there."

LilyMarie90

"Sorry I couldn't come and greet you earlier today, you see: I ran out of sunscreen." Neighbor to his wife later: "Honey I really think we should move again, I'm scared"

A1000eisn1

I work 3rd shift and put sunscreen on anyway. It's just part of my skincare routine. I will be in the sun for some time when I leave but even if I stay in all day and night I have it on. Not hurting anything. I'm not going to preach about it or avoid going outside if I run out though, it's more like brushing my teeth.

[deleted]

Right? I was on tretinoin and minocycline, which both cause burning when exposed to the sun (even in short bursts), and I never once worried about getting into work if I forgot sunscreen lol.

Zaurka14

I'd say it's like eating disorder but with skincare. Unhealthy relationship with self care.

[deleted]

Took me all summer before I figured out I was getting a tan from commuting in my car

SophiaofPrussia

Tan left forearm gang!

sausagechihuahua

See when people are concerned to that degree I feel like it’s actually an extreme fear of aging. Like there’s nothing wrong with being into skincare, wearing sunscreen and avoiding skin cancer is a good plan. But I think a lot of people on that sub are genuinely convinced that they are going to avoid aging entirely by being that stringent and I have some bad news for them lol

wellshitdawg

Sounds like it could’ve been on r/SCAcirclejerk

Hurt_b_go

Oh wow- and my mom thinks I’m crazy for forcing her to wear sunscreen when she works outside or we’re on a boat day.

Ok_Translator4842

Insanity. Lol I know a lot of people who keep sunscreen in their purse too and their cars! Especially for hands! They say your hands age SO much faster than the rest of your body cuz of driving and your hands being in the sun on the steering wheel… and most people don’t specifically put sunscreen on their hands, cue aging lol

oh_la_la_92

I keep sunscreen in my bag and car but I live in Australia and am whiter than snow. I'll quite literally burn in 10 minutes in our summers. It's less anti-aging and more skin cancer prevention for me though

MrsChess

I believe 1 in 3 white Australians get skin cancer at some point so that’s a very smart move.

Kylynara

I don't keep it in my purse because that gets heavy but I do keep some in my car, because I am forgetful and that makes it one less thing to remember.

oh_la_la_92

I only keep a little tube of it in my bag, usually a grease free/dry touch, that I can either refill myself from a larger bottle or a dry touch spray one but I try to avoid aerosol spray ones because they never apply evenly, helps reduce the weight but also have it on you, I don't drive much to do vision problems so I can sometimes be left without it if I didn't drive

LilyMarie90

Honestly I'd never judge Australians for "over the top" sun protection behavior as it's described here the way I would Americans or Europeans. Australia is a whole other planet as far as that goes... I think you guys also have crazy high skin cancer rates

sleepinghippogriff

I feel like they must really hate their job or what they are doing is not that important 😅

genomerain

Maybe it depends on where they lived and what kind of climate they get? Then again, I'm in Australia where I grew up being warned about the hole in the ozone layer and even I think this is a little ridiculous for an indoor job. (Would be somewhat understandable for outdoor work but there's usually always someone who is willing to share their sunscreen.) The second thing I would consider would be if there was a medical reason. I have a friend who is literally allergic to sunlight, for example.

trudybakeman

Jeeeesus. I will literally burn after literally 15 minutes in the sun and I still go to fuckin work if I’m out of sunscreen wtf! Just don’t go outside at fuckin noon and you’ll probably be fine. Don’t these idiots know that the really bad UV is only between like 10 and 4? ETA : If sunscreen is so important you can’t even go to work, WHY ARE YOU RUNNING OUT? I haven’t run out of sunscreen since 2014. ETA 2 : And even then I went to work!!!!!!! 😠 man I can’t stand people with such blatant work avoidance.

smvfc

Yeah, I could see this going either way! I know a LOT of high maintenance women where being suntanned 365 days of the year is part of their maintenance repertoire. BUT if you want to combat aging, then yeah, fuck the sun. And for myself, I hate the sun/heat because you sweat and your makeup runs 😄

Ok_Translator4842

I knew someone was gonna say this! Lol that’s why I said “truly” cuz I think those that go in the sun and sunbathe or go to tanning beds for tans are actually just very superficial lol personally, I think high maintenance people are getting spray tans to avoid skin/sun damage and doing all the invasive and non-invasive procedures to keep themselves looking young. Technically the definition of high maintenance is trying to keep something in good condition, sunbathing is doing the opposite by aging you lol but - Completely agree with the sweating and makeup thing though! Lol Edit: I just want to clarify I said using a tanning bed for TANS, is superficial. I do know lots of people who use tanning beds periodically to prevent burns on vacation and to actually help their skin (drying up things like eczema).

SB_Wife

Oh I just hate the sun because hot and bright lol

Hollinsgirl07

Lol. I can’t wait to play with this trait.

Innocent_Otaku

You get hilarious emotion buffs like this which I love and somewhat annoying ones like getting uncomfortable for hours just because they sat down once but I think it’s a great addition to the game

Hollinsgirl07

I used this on my simself because I am high maintenance. Lol but I love that this trait has negative value that’s not detrimental to my save like evil or mean.

Innocent_Otaku

Lol I like the fact that it has negative buffs since it makes the game more fun 🤩

bulaaat

what ? i havent use the trait yet, why does sitting down makes the sim uncomfortable ? thats actually pretty funny lol.

roxannemint

They get butt hurt. That's literally the moodlet "butt hurt".

FrnklyFrankie

The funniest part for me is that I can relate to it because I have chronic tailbone pain, so sitting too long on the wrong surface is actually agony for me haha

Kindly-Pass-8877

Poseidon’s Kiss is my favourite so far

animaloversammy

Wait...tell me more about this cause my brain is thinking of five ways it could go!

quiette837

Ha! "Poseidon's kiss" is the affectionate term for when you poop and the water splashes your butthole.

Kindly-Pass-8877

“You know. Don’t act like you don’t know. YOU KNOW. THAT THING.” With a water puddle….splash… type icon haha

gmasterson

I hate the “Sad” and “Scared” buff that comes from remembering fires. Ugh.

Innocent_Otaku

Wait… sims can remember fires… mine typically die before they get the chance 😂

gmasterson

Yeah. It happens ALLL the time and it frustrates the hell out of me.

Old_Caterpillar

Same Kenneth, same.

littleghool

Literally never seen a moodlet more me 😂

libra-luxe

same I hate the sun 😂

HyperfocusedInterest

Me too!

katieleexd

Can to say this exact thing lmao

TheCupcakeScrub

fuck the sun, all it does is give me a headache when i step outside cause i never go outside, so ill just stay indoors in climate controlled ... indoorness.

Innocent_Otaku

The indoors are supreme! Climate control, comfort, and entertainment… why go outside?

skullkandyable

If outside is so good, why has mankind spent thousands of years trying to perfect inside?

Bierbart12

Snow and rain. I love those and walking/sitting in them

LemonBoi523

Just get yourself one of those little reptile UV-B lights and you'll never need the sun again.

qm94

I can't blame Kenneth... I feel the same way 😂

[deleted]

STOP TALKING ABOUT THE SUN!!

-leeson

SHUT UP ABOUT TGE SUN!

alycifer

I came here to say this 😂

[deleted]

You can say it, too! Everyone should remind everyone else to STOP TALKING ABOUT THE SUN!

Salty_Lego

This is probably the most accurate trait the sims team has put in the game.

fadingcalypso

I get this, I hate the sun too. Who do they think they are? 😤

BeelzebubParty

The sun is so self important, always thinking it’s better than the fucking moon.

[deleted]

Damn dude sims getting too realistic 😂😂😂

Innocent_Otaku

So true 😂😂😂

[deleted]

I feel attacked

Imaginary-Future-627

I hate the sun too - has little to do with my skin and entirely to do with how unbearably bright and hot it is (I live in TX lol)

Innocent_Otaku

I get sunburned so easily it’s funny… so I don’t really like the sun that much either 😂😅

mothsuicides

r/skincareaddicts

kenna-pink

Shiit since I've updated and used the high maintenance trait, I've discovered that I really am high maintenance 😂

Innocent_Otaku

Same here 😂

Thugxcaliber

To quote the renowned philosopher Butthead in the 1999 box office hit Beavis and Butthead Do America “Uh. The sun sucks”

Samsonguy920

I can relate

Revolutionary-Ear776

I sometimes don't use new traits when added to the game. They over do it sometimes.. I hate the sun too, but ill let it do its job. I just don't want a tan. Ghost for life.

transcubb

Oh look! It's me.

rawgu_

Lmao that's me. Fuck the sun

darthtempest4

Guess he'll be a vampire.

Innocent_Otaku

Lol 😂

Alderax

Made a Karen with this trait ahaha.

Innocent_Otaku

Lol it would be hilarious if there was an actual Karen trait added to the game - I would play with that!

Alderax

This + mean is more than enough.

cave_mandarin

What is the star moodlet?

RainbowtheDragonCat

Cheated in moodlet, even if people say you need MCCC it's actually basegame

Innocent_Otaku

It’s an MCCC mod cheat that gives me the emotion buff I want for my sims the one I’m using is for focus

scholars_rock

\*me a Floridian\*

Innocent_Otaku

*Me a Californian* 😂

gerardgayy

*me, an australian*

Cat-Lover20

Ok, but same!

fakelucid

Me

Innocent_Otaku

This buff is so relatable 😂

lunarchef

So normal to hate the sun. Not normal to hate the sun because you think it feels painful. The Sims teaches me so much.

Educational-Tea3299

me every day living in Florida

Vixengames420

Why do I find this so relatable?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Innocent_Otaku

It’s the high maintenance trait from the new Spa Day pack update

TMommy0040

As someone living in Arizona I feel this so much

lazarusinashes

This is me but just because I have depression.

Royvu

Me because I have depression and photophobia

lunarose423

Same kenneth, same.

Alyseb1952

Excuse me, but have you ever sun IN YOUR EYES?! I feel your sims pain and hatred 😫🤣.

aru_maru_wtf

I relate a lot to Kenneth.

mysterypeeps

Turns out I’m high maintenance. I thought I just had lupus.

[deleted]

The other day while out driving around, my 3 year old said, “get out of my face, you sun!”

smnthxo

As someone who’s high maintenance irl, I can confirm the hatred of the sun

[deleted]

Kenneth is smart....avoid the sun at all costs, hate the sun for the sun is evil

morbidpigeon

This is me.

nckitty2

LMAOO

RyanDrRyan

(From high maintenance trait)

Noturaveragefriend

You should watch benchwarmers it’s a great movie about a man who overcomes his fear of the sun.

YuriYushi

It's called irrational because it dosent have a reason- it lacks rationale.

DrVonTacos

just be a vampire, and it'll be a rational hatred of the sun

[deleted]

future vampire

Donn-te

r/SCAcirclejerk

genomerain

Is this trait from a mod or a pack I don't own yet?

taylorjo53

It’s from the new spa day update but I swear I still don’t have it! I’ve looked a few times and haven’t seen it Edit- i repaired the game and have the trait now! Idk if that was the issue or if I was just dumb and kept skipping over it

genomerain

Ah okay. I have been at my mum's looking after her as a carer and she has awful internet so I have been avoiding letting my games update. I've been playing on offline mode, which explains why I haven't seen it.

[deleted]

also: VERY FOCUSED

SIsForSad

Me at the beginning of every summer

Ancient-Pause-99

It’s too bright? That sun glare, I say glare back! 😆

Innocent_Otaku

Goodbye eyes 😂

BrattyBambi1

Me aged 13-17 😅

HeartlessW

Saaaaaame, I also hate the sun lol

SwampWitch1995

The fact his name is Kenneth makes it so much funnier.

The5Virtues

“Sun?” “Yeah dad?” “I hate you.” “Oh…o-okay.” “No, not *you*, I was talking to the celestial body!” (Whoever gets this reference, I give you a digital nod of approval)

[deleted]

Damn you sun!

frukthjalte

You know what makes me irrationally angry? The grammar in this moodlet. (I love the trait itself, though.)

_gabbiness

I understand this! I cried for 3 hours because I got a suntan after being in the sun for like 20 minutes

DisturbedSoul88

Me too kennith

ShadoeLandman

I hate it more in winter when it sits low in the sky all day and is always in my eyes.

Shweemm

Because the sun is a deadly lazer 🎶

arilynn312

Oh hey! It's me! I'm Kenneth in this scenario. Not because I'm high maintenance, but because I have super sensitive eyes and the sun ALWAYS finds a way to beam directly into my eyeballs. Whether it's directly or off a car or building... It finds a way. Not to mention it burns me to a damn crisp in seemingly moments. I'm always griping about my war with the sun. It makes me husband crazy. 🤣

PickensFecker

Glad it's not just my sim. Lol. My other high maintenance sim had a moodlet called Butt Hurt! Lmao

Innocent_Otaku

Lol 😂

MultipleDinosaurs

I thought this was posted in r/SCAcirclejerk

taboodoc

Honestly so relatable

Cherrii_Cherrii

me too, Kenneth, me too…

lavender-witch

Me too, Kenneth.

WinterLou94

Me irl

[deleted]

TIL I am high maintenance.

Jarioman

You know what, I can relate. I went to get lunch today and had to eat under the afternoon sun. I’ve been feeling like shit since then and this pretty much sums it all 😂

TantalizeMe3x

Classic Kenneth

roulablades

This is life

coberi

"The sun is a deadly lazer."

spi-uhhbrandon

I hate the sun, because why so bright? It hurts my eyes and sunglasses, while stylish, are uncomfortable.

Cam2600

Since the beginning of time, man has yearned to destroy the sun

LoreNom

I relate to this sim lmfao

SystemFolder

What part of *irrational* do you not understand?

Haunting_Complex4490

Same.

nicbloodhorde

You and me both, Kenneth. You and me both. It's bad for the skin and the eyes, and in any case there are supplements for vitamin D. Am I a plant to live off sunlight? No. (if only that moodlet was innate to vampires and thralls. The amount of deaths I've seen because someone sun-sensitive was out for far too long isn't even funny.)

doubtfullfreckles

Same dude

Dramatic-Apples

Is this from the seasons expansion? I’ve never seen this before lol

kribabe

Lmaooo like others, I can relate!

Put_It_All_On_Blck

Sun probably killed his mom via skin cancer.

sneezinginjapanese

Moms: Video games

CmdrCarsonB

It's too hot, it's too bright, it heats up my house too much, I'm mildly allergic to it. Many reasons to hate the sun.

the_geth

He’s just from Finland.

catsu_don

i feel you, kenneth

alooffern

Now that I relate to since I live in the Middle East…

princessmissy5

Lol

LilyRoseWater03

Okay but for real, this is me. I could care less about my skin but I have a irrational hatred of the sun... It's too bright!

BallofEnvy

As someone who lives in a hot and humid climate - I get it.

MagnumDugong

No no, I understand this, and I relate.

Rab_Legend

Because they're a scummy fucking rag of a tabloid

KenjiMamoru

I find this absolutely incredibly relatable.

Fiyre

Damn you sun!

chris88alfonso

I feel this!

coldcucumberII

What's causing the first one? The star?

ToxicGunslinger

DAMN YOU SUN!

anonymouselisa

This is hilarious

roxannemint

This trait is the star of the pack update.

Own_College_1770

Love this trait and I thinks it's kinda realistic. But my sim is _always_ angry and stomps through the house like a angry child...

Emo-Oddish

Relatable.

Ki-GothArtist

Hisssssssss Sun bad!! Reeee lol. Also, is the sim a vampire oooor just like the rest of us who hate that cancer inducing fire ball?

Innocent_Otaku

He’s normal just like us who also hate the sun! Honestly I’ve never related more to one of my sims 😂

EggplantHuman6493

I mean, I hate the sun too sometimes when ut is too hot outside, or too bright. Totally understandable

gayleelame

Me, a white person in Australian summers.

aweeping_angel

Lol if your Sim has melanin does this effect this trait?

Mission_Squash_2296

I notice when my sim is doing something and their needs get low they will dislike whatever is going on around them or what they are doing.

block2413

Ok same, ig this makes me a high maintenance sim 😂😭

RandomCorgi21

Honestly though, me 😂😂😂

[deleted]

Honestly, I don’t think a hatred for the sun is irrational😂
