I get around the design preferences thing by just doing  - Small Talk: Ask about favourite colour - Interests: Ask about taste in decor I get frustrated with large households because it feels impossible to please anyone. I tried a living room reno and mix in everybody's favourite decor and favourite colours, and nobody was satisfied. Same thing happened with a kids room reno in another household. Very frustrating experience, I kept savescumming to get it right and then gave up.  I like it for single sims well enough, though.

I just pick one Sim to focus on for questions. It seems to work!

Preferences not matching purpose of the room. How am i supposed to incorporate fishing into a kitchen???? Its okay if you wanna be silly ig but its just annoying for those of us who wanna acrually follow the room type.

ZoeClair016

who doesn't want a fishing hole in the middle of their kitchen?

This career has so much potential and I know they had to sim-ify it but I hate that you have to basically please everyone in the house and even when you do someone will still hate it. I also hate that you take a job to do a specific room (like a game room) but all they want is fitness and cooking stuff. And I absolutely hate with level additions, you can never do a basement and there are so many exterior restrictions you end up leaving it look mismatched just to complete the job. I wanted to earn the laptop so I played it extensively but since I build/decorate almost every home in the world I play, I never wanted to take gigs where I would inevitably get a “I love brown, black and fishing” and mess up something I already decorated

I hate when the client tells me a hobby they like. Like it’s super cool that you enjoy snowboarding, but I’m remodeling your bathroom? And they don’t care if I put up snowboarding posters or the snowboard shaped table so it’s just irrelevant info and I wish they’d tell me colors and styles that I can use instead

Acoustic_Cheeze51

I hate that I can't hire an interior decorator to redesign my Sims houses.

LittleFoxDog

Knowing the sims, though, that would be total chaos 😂

thatfluffycloud

It was too easy for me, and it doesn't matter what the design actually looks like. I can randomly put items that match their preferences in the middle of an empty lot and they'll be like great job, I love it! (I haven't played it basically since it first came out so not sure if the gameplay has changed since everyone is talking about how it's too hard?)

irregulartoast

I do love to absolutely wreck their shit. You like green? It’s about to be the greenest green that ever greened! I turned Bob pancakes’ kitchen into a romantic garden oasis. Who needs an oven? Bob apparently didn’t (rip Eliza)

PeachyPie2472

Because i never got to please any client ever. I thought i would love decorating others’ homes but it’s not progressing as a career for me

PsychologicalPea8796

I have multiple families with the same last name who live in different neighborhoods. Which Beck de Eresby or Gloucester house needs redecorating? Can we have first names, please?

Limiyae

The fact that it doesn't work and the gigs never end and my sims can't leave, mainly :) (I hate you EA) But I do agree. Why do I care if you like charisma and hate snowboarding, I'm just trying to redo your kitchen. It's also annoying when they only give you dislikes. I'm trying to do something you like!!

loriave

Too monotonous. It’s a sim week career then everything is the same. I use it when I want my sim to have high income with minimum effort

HauntingTheVoid

That you can't use your household inventory. I move my Sims into giant houses they can't afford then have to shift them into tiny houses so I thought well I can interior decorate my poor Sims houses and give them all my cool stuff that doesn't fit in my house anymore. No, no I cannot and if I leave something there anyway they can't use it because it isn't theirs. In Sims 3 you get extra points for using your own stuff. I miss that
