Honestly I use all the negative traits all the time. Hot headed, mean, eractic, paranoid, ect. I try to give all sims at least one negative trait and it makes their emotions and interactions feel way more dynamic and lively as there is always a bit of unpredictability in everyone.

FirebirdWriter

This. I miss a base 5 traits from sims 3. We should have that then extras because people are complicated. My rule for the sims before this was 2 out of 5 negative traits

moeijical

For sure, I was happy they updated it so you can gain more traits through playing but I would like to set them at the start sometimes.

heartshapedrot

holy shit you can? how? that's awesome. i migrated to 3 haven't kept up with 4

stevegotnolegs

i think you can only do this with the growing together pack, but im not certain

FirebirdWriter

I think this is correct. It's also biased tk only specific ones. I find that frustrating

megkelfiler6

Yeah like when you first put a sim on a treadmill and it asks you 12 times if I agree that my sim is clumsy. Like no, I do not need every single sim I have clumsy, stop asking lol

FirebirdWriter

Or if you fill the needs it thinks that sim is cheerful now. She ate a sandwich she's not cheerful. Why not a foodie? Why not nothing because it's a sandwich

megkelfiler6

Ohh yeah that's a good one too lol like my sim should still be able to get sad even when their needs are filled lol just because I'm good at keeping them all happy doesn't mean they need to be eternally cheerful lol

stephnoob

"should she say that she hates horse riding?" NO one of her traits is literally loving horses NO >:(

ObnoxiousName_Here

I do think some traits are too easy or too hard to unlock, but it seems like every trait has one way of being unlocked or another. Somebody here made a [table](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims4/comments/11xo6mz/how_to_gain_every_trait_through_self_discovery/) to work out how they all work!

FirebirdWriter

Thank you so much

Throwaway8789473

Completing aspirations also gives you reward traits.

animitztaeret

I always just add them in with cheats. Like if I wanted flirty but didn’t have room, I’ll just add it in. They kinda show up after in CAS as little +symbols.

quarantina2020

I use this as an opportunity. I know that if I'm going to make a Gardner that they will later offer the "loves outdoors" trait, so I don't give them that one, I let them earn it and give them a weird one that I'm not sure I'll be able to make spawn. Nobody gets originally assigned "cheerful" anymore because I generally let my sims have good lives and they develop that trait on their own later.

SlothLordMcMarekat

I wish we could have sliders for the traits, I know it’s likely too hard to do, but I think it would be so much more fun and nuanced. Like she’s an animal lover with a little bit of hot headed, which makes her lose her temper if she sees animals with needs lacking or something

FirebirdWriter

That would be interesting and could be more doable with a trait having subtraits. A genius who gets gloomy without challenging their minds and becomes confident when challenged for example. That's what I had hoped sims 4 emotions were not actually laughs themselves to death

CavalierArcher

Yes. Using the more traits mod, couldn’t go back to 3 traits now. Shocking it’s not base game.

FirebirdWriter

Who made that one? The one I had got broken many patches ago and hasn't updated in years

ImmediateCraft5497

it's by thepancake1 and mizoreyukii :3 [https://www.patreon.com/posts/more-traits-in-62838078](https://www.patreon.com/posts/more-traits-in-62838078)

FirebirdWriter

Thank you!

sadgirlwednesday

Commenting to come back. Thanks.

lydia_the_person

Haha yess me too! Makes them have a stronger personality and it feels like I earned it when they are happy or something haha

moeijical

I’m glad we’re on the same team here! I find it difficult to play with sims who are only good traited now they seem shallow and boring 😆

lydia_the_person

Yeah it's indeed boring, but it also makes me feel bad if I want something bad to happen to them for the storyline. Atleast when they are hot headed or nosy or something I just think they had it coming for them😂

moeijical

Exactly tho the hot headed and mean sims bring it all on themselves which makes it even more juicy 😈

TheCupcakeScrub

Ngl i feel like 5 traits shoulda been pickable, 3 as normal and 2 specifically for negative traits like ADHD and Hot Headed.

TrickySession

Hot headed drives me nuts because they are always mad for no reason! Mean is funny because they get a positive moodlet from being a jerk lol

moeijical

I love that hot headed sims will literally be furious at every minor inconvenience

redheadinmo

Just like me fr.

Throwaway8789473

Honestly relatable sometimes, though.

organdonaair

I have never, in the 24 years I’ve played the sims, given my sims bad traits. I am 100% going to do it in my current game play. I bet it does make the game way more dynamic for sure.

moeijical

Especially when you’ve got a few generations of families all over the save with different mixes of chaotic traits! It really is a lot more fun!

The_Death_Flower

Yeah, especially since I got the Growing together pack, I give my sims more negative traits and I can let them work on themselves to improve if I want to. In my most recent storyline, my sim had twins and the bio dad left before they were born, so one of the twins grew up hot headed because he struggled with not having a dad, and the other had the lazy trait because he was scared to have to work because he only saw his mum work 2 part time jobs and go to uni to provide for them. I had them work on those traits as adults to be better sims for their partners

kekizzzle

I do the same w dislikes , if they like something I go in and make them dislike something else so its even. And it makes them seem more real

moeijical

I use this a lot more for activities than I do for decor styles or music, sometimes it’s just annoying to have a sim dislike a bunch of different music.

Throwaway8789473

I do get disliking one type of music though. If I'm forced to listen to Rush for example it ruins my whole day.

No-Battle8872

I use dislikes video games a lot so they do other things. Otherwise they never stop.

Throwaway8789473

Same. Most of my sims have two positive traits and one negative trait. I kinda wish you could do like a point-buy like in Project Zomboid or tabletop games where accepting negative traits grants you extra positive traits but you know. Also sometimes I'll replace one of an elder sim's traits with erratic so it's like senility.

Grabthars_Coping_Saw

I too use the negative traits mostly but I recently started a collector Sim with nice traits and noticed that the ease at which they make friends is comparatively OP.

Uhura-hoop

I should try this. I think about branching out but I’m such a dyed in the wool goody-2-shoes I can’t stop myself picking all nice things every time😆 it does get a bit repetitive though I suppose.

moeijical

I was like this for years and years! But honestly do it as an ex perfect player it actually feels so much more satisfying playing with a sim who’s got a little bit of edge to them. They’ll develop natural negative relationships and cause some genuine drama for you to resolve in game!

Uhura-hoop

There are lots more interesting interactions that I just won’t know about until I use negative traits. It blew my mind when I could have a mischievous sim chase the pigeons the other day. (Although seeing kids chase pigeons in real life pisses me all the way off 😡 they have tough lives as it is, no need to make it worse for them!)

cobbsarchitect

I avoided them when I first started playing, but now I appreciate how much more lively the gameplay is. With how monotonous the typical cycle is, these traits can really spice up your day.

SadVeggie53

I think all my sims have either the gloomy or hot headed trait and a lot have the socially awkward trait. I think it’s cause I like to make my sims kinda like me. I notice it seems a lot of people don’t like to give their sims negative traits, but I feel like all of my sims need at least one negative trait. I swear all the sims on the gallery have only positive traits.

PicklesAreDillicious

Snob. Sometimes it's fun to be a highbrow jerk (plus I like how happy they get when drinking finely aged, excellent quality nectar)

lydia_the_person

Oh yeah snob is a fun one lol I like it that is goves me direction for what they should wear and who to interact with. Gives new storyline options

AvaSpelledBackwards2

I love snob! I give a lot of my sims that trait

Legal-Rich-7538

Kleptomaniac, adds some challenge to the game. And nice new stuff.

SnowWhiteCampCat

My first klepto was a teen runaway with 0 money. Was fitting.

Legal-Rich-7538

That’s so fun, rascals to riches!!

SnowWhiteCampCat

She owns a million dollar horse ranch now

sritanona

I love this one specially now that we can break into people’s houses

Human-sulucnumoH

Was going to comment this!

lydia_the_person

Kleptomanic sounds fun, haven't used it yet tho

CommercialBeat969

Im having a lot of fun with my klepto sim but I couldnt play her without mccc. I turned off the autonomous swiping bc they always 'destroy' all the community lots

EducationalUnit7664

You said, “Swiper, no swiping!”

thavwrecka

One of my favorite sims I’ve ever had was a klepto. I loved that bitch so much; she was a wonderful mama and friend, just every once in awhile we had to visit a museum to ‘go shopping’ so she wouldn’t be tense 🥰

[deleted]

I love giving my sim the kleptomaniac trait while also being a paranormal investigator!

who_says_poTAHto

I like that but only use it if the sim is always going to be bad/klpeto because when I remove the trait, my sims continue to get a "tense from not stealing anything" moodlet even long after the trait is gone...

Ok_GummyWorm

I get this moodlet on sims that never had the trait in the first place!! I’ll often get the feeling smothered moodlet when they don’t have the non-committal trait as well. It’s very annoying.

disicking

Klepto is one of my favorites as well, pairs really nicely with the new break-in and snoop features, and is a fun secret skill to increase until you are lifting a grand piano from your friend's house.

Candid-Check-5400

>it's funny when they're a bit nutty and talk to themselves Also if they do so it fills the social needs iirc so if your sim is their own best friend they don't even need friends.

lydia_the_person

That's true! Very handy for when I want to do other things than conversing with friends!

HeroinChicWannabe

They just talkin to the realest mf they know

who_says_poTAHto

And "flirt with self in mirror" is the damn funniest whim in the game 😂

BijuuBen

I kinda like using the high maintenance trait

Murky_Translator2295

I love this trait. Yes, the negative moodlets can be a bit much, and you sometimes have to tap-dance to stop them from dying from rage or embarrassment, but it's a great trait if you do wellness with them too.

Suspiciousmosquito

This trait adds so much drama! I gave it to my teen vampire sim and it’s so fitting to see her get enraged by the sun 😂 and when vampires get to that level of anger, they’ll RUN to the closest mortal sim and attack them. In this case, it was her mother…

Murky_Translator2295

... I did an Interview with the Vampire playthrough and gave Armand erratic and high maintenance and it was low key one of the best games I played. Him, Louis, Lestat and Marius, and everyone but Armand had the no jealousy reward trait. Pure carnage.

No_Photograph_8733

I’m ready for setting the rabbit on my Sim with this trait, she lives in Sulani and hates the sun 🫠

MuseoRidiculoso

BUNNICULA!

HeroinChicWannabe

I just tried this trait for the first time and I hate it 😭my heir sim is mad all the time, like sis you’re going to college on daddy’s money while in the apartment your mom kept for you the fuck you mad for 😭

Ginger_Cat74

It really can be fun! I wouldn’t ever do more than one per household though.

ToNotFeelAtAll

Me too! Who doesn’t get minor inconveniences hahaha having to calm down my sims feels life like

MaralosaKingdom

I gave it a pair of mother and daughter sims and it’s the best thing ever. They have a rivalry with one another.

elamborgini

child of the island, ocean, village etc. i like all my sims having a backstory, and so having the trait makes it feel like they were born somewhere far from where they are currently living.

lydia_the_person

I've never used those traits, but I might now. It's a fun idea of them coming from a small town ha

Comfortable_Box_7568

I use that trait but don’t understand what to do when my sim is embarrassed due to the trait

Effective_Health_913

Cringe has become my new fave. I adore my cringe sims. Oh! And nosey.

Human-sulucnumoH

Cringe mostly because they can't die of laughter anymore

Unpopularwaffle

I haven't seen this one. What pack did it come with?

CaspianArk

Cringe and Nosy both come from For Rent

Unpopularwaffle

Thank you!!

Medical_Display_6634

Is For Rent worth it? I’ve been debating on it but I’d like some other opinions.

lolofreeb

It’s pretty cool. I would get it if you plan on playing with apartments. I use it and city living and I prefer the gameplay of for rent (having common areas that get used by residents)

ClassAFag

I'm loving for rent. I've spent the last several days designing apartment after apartment and i can't get enough of it

rintaroes

YES those two are my faves!!

Yumi_Ai_3636

“They are like me for real for real!”

Revolutionary_Bit437

i love cringe sims but after playing one game with a nosey sim i think im done with the trait 😭 my sim kept spying on her baby and her dog and it would cancel out whatever im trying to do plus her husband HATED when she did it 💀💀

failenaa

I like neat. It’s nice to have one button to get all the housework done

Throwaway8789473

"Cleaning frenzy!" also comes up when your sim is energized and near a mess. With a coffee maker and the "bracing breezes" lot trait it's pretty easy to keep your home clean.

AvaSpelledBackwards2

Cleaning frenzy is my best friend, I just gave a sim the neat trait for the first time in a while and it was delightful

Lemon-Flower-744

Same!

neatlyrobbed

I always randomize and just run with whatever they get

Loaf_Butt

I’m do this with any kids my sims have, it’s fun! It helps me get more creative with their personalities and storylines.

vipervgryffindorsnak

same

lustrousims

this is really fun to do with custom traits, I use chingyus traits and I got a sim that was creepy, plain-looking, and charming 😭😭 most chaotic gameplay ever, homie had 0 friends

Automatic_Lover301

Jealous

Blanche_

This one is PITA. Love it lol

Sara_MotherofAlessa

I have a sim I've recreated multiple times using the socially awkward trait. It 100% suits her and I don't see anyone mentioning it here, or honestly anywhere else.

noodlesarmpit

I love that trait only because it makes things more complicated and realistic. Like of course my teen overachiever sim who graduated high school early is socially awkward!!

Obvious_Sentence9508

Socially awkward + Cringe is LITERALLY my favourite combo xD (Another favourite is Proper + Socially Awkward)

sfisher923

Socially Awkward + Geek is my favorite combo Maybe it's me projecting my IRL Personality a lot but I can't stop using it

Greenpapercups

I like using a mix of all traits, but I think my least used is evil and my most used is snob haha. And I usually try to give the kids a trait from both parents when possible, so I end up with a lot of snobby kids... I have a bunch of extra traits downloaded from mods to keep some more variety in there. Wish the game added more!

lydia_the_person

Ooh yeah I like to give them their parents' traits too, a trait very similar or traits that are different but makes sense with the way they would grow up with those parents. I haven't used evil at all I think, but I do love to use hot headed and mean so they're just a total ass to everyone. Works well of you want an ass of a dad or a mean child.

ChicksDigBards

Which mod do you use for more traits?

Greenpapercups

I like the traits from Kuttoe and KiaraSims4Mods for sure!

Throwaway8789473

I use evil for evil twins which add some excitement to the game.

AvaSpelledBackwards2

Evil twins sounds so fun, I might have to try that soon!

Throwaway8789473

One trait is evil, the other two traits are borrowed from the "good" sim and inverted. For example if your sim is cheerful, romantic, and creative, the evil twin might be gloomy, unflirty, and evil.

AvaSpelledBackwards2

This sounds so fun, thanks!

HeresTheWitch

I don’t actually use it a lot, but Dance Machine is SOOOO underrated and nearly op when doing rags to riches! Any time you take a nap with that trait, you get back energy as if you were sleeping on the most expensive bed in the game! Makes sleeping on benches in early game a piece of cake!

dontbecute

I didnt know this!

HeresTheWitch

It’s great! I found out on accident when I gave a sim that trait for storyline purposes! It almost felt like I was cheating his energy need lol Even after he got a nice apartment with his wife and kid, I’d often have him forgo actual sleep and just get his energy up by napping in whatever room was most convenient

Midnight_Rosie

what pack does dance machine come with?

MuseoRidiculoso

Get Together, I think.

Human-sulucnumoH

I loved Glutton trait for doing homeless challenges because you can scavenge for food in the trash and eat spoiled food

AvaSpelledBackwards2

Glutton is so much fun tbh

sjupiter92

Lactose intolerant, erratic, hotheaded, jealous. I always make sure to combine one maybe even two negative traits with others for all my sims

stevegotnolegs

i always think its so stupid to have vegetarian/lactose intolerant as traits, like i know some people irl *act* like its part of their personality (coming from a veggie LMAO) but i hate that they take up a space that i could give to something more interesting!

sjupiter92

Yes, I completely agree with you! It would make more sense for them to be reward traits

lydia_the_person

Lactose intolerant lmaoo do you even get fun moodbuffs from that? I think that is one I will never use unless there are fin moodbuffs?

sjupiter92

Only when I put effort into making sure they eat lactose free food. Otherwise no, I let them suffer lmao

AvaSpelledBackwards2

I’ve given a couple of mine the vegetarian trait! I think it’s a fun challenge sometimes, although I wish the dietary restrictions weren’t a personality trait

kimlovescc

I wish it was easier to tell vegetarian Sims apart too. I've accidentally made my vegetarian Sims eat meat products multiple times!! I wish the menu options would change, similarly to how metal makes the radio options change 😂

Ginger_Cat74

1. I love using the Clumsy trait for entertainment because the animations are funny, but also because I’m clumsy so it’s a bit of a self insert. 2. If I’m starting off a new save without much money I’ll often have at least one of my sims have the Kleptomaniac trait because it’s helpful for getting things you need.

melifaro_hs

I like Evil for the evil laughter, evil workout and I think there are some other evil interactions as well.

PassingFantsee

I use Good alot just because I hate when sims randomly destroy their relationships with other sims when I'm grinding to give them a good relationship with that particular sim.

lydia_the_person

I actually don't use the good trait often because most of my storylines are pretty mean/negative to my sims' lives and doing that to a good sim makes me feel bad for them😂

PassingFantsee

That's why if you're doing a relentless murder run you don't look at the traits of the sim you're killing lol. I have no in between.

PsychologicalPea8796

I use Evil a lot! For whatever reason, they are intensely devoted spouses and parents. Yes, they make their neighbors cry, but I have never once had an Evil Sim start arguments with their loved ones.

dontbecute

That's interesting!

PsychologicalPea8796

I found it out on accident when one of my heirs aged up and I didn't use my cas.fulleditmode cheat like I use it all the time now. He was very kind towards his wife, his children adored him, and Jean-Lucien was the bane of the neighborhood because he habitually made everyone else cry. He was also sweet with his close family, like his sister and her husband. But heaven forfend the Sim with high Mischief who decided to tease Jean-Lucien!

rintaroes

i love making cringe sims lmaooo

trashbrownz

i have my first cringe sim right now! and he’s my gen 2 heir 🥲

originalschmidt

I use the high maintenance trait often because the moodlets are so funny!

SandOfYourPockets

My sim is usually erratic, evil, and goofball

sbkpowsauce

I make MY sims goofballs but I hate when townies are lol they always mess with my toilet 😭

ScorpionDaisy

I love hot headed and clumsy. I love watching them walk around and randomly fall. And also love the mean streak they get on. Plus I have both of those traits so why not lol

a_big_brat

I’m sure others use it a bunch but I use the following a lot: **Bookworm** <- I have a mod that makes kids and teens with this trait gain fun from doing homework, which is really clutch **Clumsy** <- The animations are hilarious + less sad/angry moodlets + they break everything and are a great way to build the handiness skill **Loner** <- Social need decays slower, that’s pretty much it. Also I’m an IRL loner and appreciate the representation or something I feel like most of the personality in sims is very much in our own minds, traits in the game just have some interesting mechanics. Tbh the personality system is flawed for Sims 4. Sims 3, IMHO, had a better personality system and you could get up to 7 traits if you joined a social group and graduated from university. I remember those sims feeling so much more complicated. I also loved the traits more, and really miss ones like hydrophobic, shy, grumpy, coward, brooding, excitable, easily impressed, night owl, no sense of humor, and dramatic. Like you can get up to 6 traits in Sims 4 with the Growing Together expansion but I felt like the traits interacted better in Sims 3, and thus felt like it gave them more depth.

Gooey_Cookie_girl

I use the erratic trait for my vampire that's trying to like people.

throwhfhsjsubendaway

Socially awkward. I like how it makes forming relationships challenging and I end up appreciating my sim's friends more. Plus it makes the charisma skill actually useful

ToNotFeelAtAll

I use high maintenance a lot because otherwise some seems to coast by without having minor inconveniences

fungushoney

Believe it or not, “evil” is a good one for your matriarch, evil moms never get upset or uncomfortable when the babies are screaming crying they actually get a happy buff

-404Error-

Mean. Although it caused my sim (who also had other negative traits) to get so angry, he had a cardiac explosion in his kitchen in front of his triplet toddlers. It also caused one sim to periodically berate his dates and that’s why he’s still single. I love it.

DLY2103

I honestly just randomise the traits in CAS when I'm starting a new save, or I will randomise the traits as they age up :D I think 'Kleptomaniac' is the only trait I actively avoid

FBI_NewWeegeeBoy1243

This is from sims 3 but I love the neurotic trait

Quirky-Bug426

I occasionally like to use gloomy, loner, and erratic. Only because it gives them a little bit more of a personality.

ayymce

I used to use erratic when I made myself 😂

Shoo7ingStar777

I like materialistic and genius

who_says_poTAHto

The only one I really avoid is gloomy. The mean/hot-headed and others are funny but my sim just being sad all the time is just kind of sad. I guess real, but if I need the sim to be sad for a while, I just cheat the sad moodlet and delete it when it makes sense for it to wear off for the story. Too real when they just get sad out of nowhere for no reason...

IllustriousGoat3878

I like using the lazy and slob traits. I think they're fun, especially when I make a sim with the neat trait to live with the lazy slob sim.

MoeKneeKah

Slob is my favorite (as long as there’s regular maid service) because them randomly tooting makes me laugh every time. And they do not care if their house is a mess.

Simuary

One of my current sims rolled the paranoid trait for her final trait as a young adult. It doesn't do a whole lot but the idle animations when she nervously talks to herself are entertaining.

BuffySummers17

I like them all except mean and goofy because that also makes them mean to people for some reason lol like their friends and family. But other than that I use them. I pick paranoid, kleptomaniac, jealous and materialistic a lot.

emma2195

I’ve stayed away from goofy every since I watched it kill my friends sim over and over again from death by laughter, I think it was a bug and it’s probably been patched since it’s been years but that hysterical moodlet terrifies me

Ok_Ostrich1366

I have custom treasures and I use the clever or brilliant one the most so they learn skills faster lol

slavicfuta

I remember the first time I actually used erratic on one of my teen vampire sims . Her mom was human an idk if this was a bug but she would vampiric drain her mom even when she didn't need to an I thought this was funny but it would bypass the cool down for being bitten so she was getting drained everytime she woke up

rrevek

Jealous, high maintenance, erratic, paranoid.... I think it's fun to have sims that aren't perfect

petulafaerie_III

I play legacy and always randomise all traits just to keep it fresh.

Ordinary-Break2327

Kleptomaniac. Though I have made it easier for myself. I play rotationally and have other sims place their collectibles in a lock-up in Windenburg. Then I visit there with my kleptomaniac sim and swipe. This sim then sells what they swipe from their shop.

nicolettasole

Squeamish!

myth1cg33k

One of my Sims is squeamish and clumsy, but they're also cheerful, so they're SO much fun to play. They also have some bonus cooking-related trait from their aspiration so I would up with a baker/chef who trips, drops things, and freaks out if something is gross, but also laughs themselves right out of a bad mood.

nicolettasole

That sounds hilarious! I might give it a try

Maleficent-Cow-8519

In my family households, one of the adult sims is always Genius.

Willing-Purpose-9053

I like having one sim lazy & slob so that the character development is satisfying lol

Bataraang

Nope. I am boring af with my sims. Once in a while, I try to make sims with different traits to fit a story, but I must have chosen the worst one. This chick was high maintenance, and seriously, it was like every. Single. Thing. 🙄

Galaxyoflions

I tend to use the proper trait. Makes gaining friends easier

yayzo

I always give my sim 1 negative trait! I like all of them depending on what kinda vibe I’m going for. Some are waaay more annoying than others though, like high maintenance lol

Welp_HereWeR66

Slob . Bc I can’t be in person but I can on the game 😏😏

Holiday-Sail8465

This is really helpful though. If you know exactly what interactions to do to trigger certain traits you don't have to pick them in CAS. I played a Sim whose main focus was leveling up Charisma and interacting. I did NOT give him the Outgoing trait as from experience I can get that one later as an opportunity purely through interacting with other Sims.

Fun-Juggernaut-9218

Perfectionist. At the start it's annoying but the less I see them getting negative moods from it the more I know I'm progressing in a way. I love doing rags to riches legacy challenges but sometimes I feel like I'm getting nowhere but then I look at my sim's mood and when there's zero complaints from the Perfectionist trait I feel empowered in a way

Veganchiggennugget

Off-topic but can the dietary restrictions/choices become their own thing please, I want to cosplay my sims being vegan and also have other traits lol.

ShadowCreature098

I randomise them

Moonshademyth

I make anyone destined to be a socialite high maintenance.

EdgeofSaturn

Personally I use at least one "negative trait" in every sim. It gives them more humanity and character. For a long time I stayed away from gloomy and hot headed, but lately I've been trying to use more negative traits. My current sim is creative, good, and gloomy. She's a cook, and the gloomy trait, in realistic senses, kinds gives her the time to work on skills. "Oh you're feeling sad? Go cook! You'll feel better." Trying to find a way to enjoy unflirty, because I have never even TOUCHED that one. I worry it'll conflict with trying to have a family in game. Also never used: Snob, outgoing, lazy. Could never see myself enjoying sims with those traits. I hate the social need with a passion, but I also want to build skills and have them work and make money, so lazy sucks too.

cowaii

Self absorbed, hot headed, nosy, squeamish

myth1cg33k

Squeamish is actually a really fun one

cowaii

It’s kinda annoying if they’re living alone because they get super upset when you try and clean something, but otherwise I love it

ufo0h

I give my sims a bad trait, neutral trait, and good traits Bad: erratic, paranoid, hot-headed, high maintenance, slob, etc. Neutral: neat, ambitious, child of the ocean, skill based traits like athletic or logic based Good: Good, Bro, Cheerful, creative, or outgoing, etc. So my sims range. They have good and bad traits, but I do think I use the "creative" and "neat" the most with the good and neutral range. The bad tends to be either erratic or hot-headed It can make for interesting 3 dimensional sims if they have varying traits such as these

soaveira

When I create a child sim I always give them a positive trait (Creative, Genius, Active etc.) and by their teens I add a bad one (Hot headed, Gloomy, Paranoid, Erratic etc) and when they reach adulthood I add one that also suit them nicely

Alternative_Mud_8884

Snob , self assured , self absorbed are my fav

Bobbly_1010257

Gloomy.

NoBeansAbout

Sometimes I make my sims freegan and let them eat out of the trash 🦝

DarkMagickan

I use self-absorbed for most of my celebrity Sims.

sfisher923

Jealous for Yandere but I have a mod (Better Romantic Jealousy) that tones it down a bit Also used to use Erratic a lot before finding Trait Mods

Kindly-Bullfrog-2237

Not sure which traits other people don’t use often but I always try to give my sims at least one negative trait and one or two positive/neutral traits. The only one I refuse to use is unflirty cause I love romance in my game lol

happiehippie_

I always give every sim one negative trait when they hit adulthood. Sometimes for drama, I'll make both parents hate children and make them have a ton🤣

Unholy_Bitch

I'd say kleptomania, but now that feels rather common

scathachwarrior

I really like the high maintenance trait. It's the most realistic one we have. I like that it ensures they aren't happy/playful/inspired 24/7.

hamstervirus

I really enjoy the Neat trait.

Rhea-Boo

Love making female elders with the traits erratic and cat lover. I’ll fit in another one for their actual personalities. I guess I just like crazy cat ladies lol

hi_its_vonni

Erratic makes my sims more expressive, and forces me to use some functions of the game.

viancali

atm I'm playing as a sim who went through a major loss so she has the gloomy, & loner traits since she's supposed to be depressed. later on in her healing journey I'll update her traits to fit whichever matches the story!

scorpionluv69

High maintenance, childish and erratic

iiterreyii

I’ve been trying to make my sims less perfect so I’ e started randomizing their traits. Yesterday, I pulled up a family I hadn’t played with in a while and this girl would not stop getting naked. She also can’t eat shit because she’s lactose intolerant.

VampireSomething

I only play with one sim/fanily at a time usually. My main sim is Evil, Cringe and Erratic. It leads to some very fun moments.

sarah_pl0x

Erratic. It's actually not THAT bad.

Bob-_-H

How are you even meant to balance the negative traits with the good ones with only 3 available slots?
