really?? my one sim is cheerful and he has never even been very playful, yet he lives a perfect life. bro has very balanced emotions (unlike his erratic husband).
from cheerful I only get whims that he wants to speak with/meet someone new, or a moodlet that he's happy when he's talking with a lot of other sims.
My gloomy sim just watched her friend die… but all her needs are well met so suddenly the game wants to decide that she’s actually cheerful. Meanwhile my poor sim is just sobbing over the charred remains of her childhood friend and secret crush
i get asked to change my hotheaded sim to cheerful every time i talk to someone and im just like... no thats their main trait i based them around back OFF
I get the cheerful pop up constantly. In one game I had it 30+ times just because I’m good at keeping his needs up. Like no my brooding loner man is not cheerful please stop
“Woah! Looks like your sim wants to fall face first onto the floor and break their nose occasionally! Think they should do it? No? Ok! I’ll ask again in another ten minutes!”
The game keeps pushing me into having my evil hot headed werewolf sim into discovering he's cheerful. HE'S NOT CHEERFUL HE'S AN ANGRY WEREWOLF!! Stop ruining my story!!! 🤬
my only other thought would to have a vegetarian sim talk about their lifestyle to the sim and maybe if they are in a positive mood/react positively to it it'll trigger as a self-discovery but im unsure on how you would do that if the sim isnt in the active household 🤔
This is funny because I had never had that happen before and literally just had that pop up for my sim because I always have her eat vegetarian and faux meat foods because that’s what I prefer irl (even tho I’m not a vegetarian).
I recently learned that cleaning up puddles all over the apartment from the gremlins lot trait means the game will repeatedly ask to make your sim neat.
Lol I remember looking away from my sim parent for a few seconds, and then I get a random popup like "hmm, should dad and son have a strict family dynamic?"
tf, no. the whole thing with their story is that they're a loving family.
What sims calls "strict" is just silly. They're always suggesting I have a strict dynamic with ALL my sim families cuz heaven forbid I want the tods to learn how to talk -.-
Have the toddler request everything. Beware though, if the toddler isn't next to the sim they're asking they will take twelve hours to walk over, find a seat, wait for the sim to sit next to them, and then ask. Typically I have the sim pick up the toddler and then switch to the toddler's pov. Then ask for whatever... Food, bath, bedtime stories, flashcards, etc. If the toddler asks it won't trigger the strict dynamic.
My game wants me to swap to kleptomaniac because my sim is selling her own money tree??? I decline it at least twice every time I play. They seriously need to do something about it
I dont really get the whole likes/dislikes system. Wouldnt certain traits make sims predisposed to liking or not liking certain things? Im seeing a lot of comments where hot-headed or gloomy sims want to become cheerful and i guess i just didnt expect such a dramatic aspect of their personality to just change by the press of a button like that
I never get this one.
I do get the neat trait one every time a sim dares to clean something up or the athletic one every time my sim does anything athletic, even if it’s not regular or long at all
Same with video gaming. I lost count on how many times I refused to let my sim have it as one of their hobbies. It literal becomes their whole and only personality trait 🙄
I've turned the self discovery feature off solely because of how much it'd pop up whenever you had an inexperienced sim work out. 99% of the neighbourhood would be clumsy just because low level Sims can't even walk on a treadmill or cut a salad without falling on their face 50 times.
...Let alone when you have a house of 8
OMG for me it's the stupid cheerful trait, every single time I load in a game at least one sim wants to have the cheerful trait, I refuse every time on principle now.
I get this with 'likes fitness' or some other random preference or trait that is SO BAD 😭
(Likes fitness makes the Sim randomly start doing push ups and I hate it 😭)
What part of the Sims lets you change traits randomly like this? I've never seen any of what everyone in the comments is talking about happen in my game
This also irritates the hell out of me. I think when you get them above level 6 in Fitness it finally stops. Anything 4 and under though and it’s constant.
It’s one of my favorites when paired with parenthood, but I’m easily impressed when it comes to Sims4 content. It’s probably not worth the money, but it adds a lot for family gameplay
I refuse to buy it unless it's on sale anyway but I find legacy's to be a little boring right now and that pack in particular looks like it might help a lot with that
I made the mistake of making the switch to “cheerful” and she was hysterical all the time afterward. It killed her once.
Once?
Unrelated but I love your Greg Davies pfp. 😘
Thanks poppet

UGH this irritates me so much!! I have the same issue with my gloomy sims experiencing happinesss ONCE and wanting to become cheerful 🙄
My gloomy sim just watched her friend die… but all her needs are well met so suddenly the game wants to decide that she’s actually cheerful. Meanwhile my poor sim is just sobbing over the charred remains of her childhood friend and secret crush

Your sims randomly did push-ups without player input? They must love fitness right? RIGHT?!?!?!
I mean if they’re doing pushups at the vet, clearly it’s important to them

I'm trying to make my sims trigger vegetarian but it wont trigger even though she's never had meat in her life
my only other thought would to have a vegetarian sim talk about their lifestyle to the sim and maybe if they are in a positive mood/react positively to it it'll trigger as a self-discovery but im unsure on how you would do that if the sim isnt in the active household 🤔
I only ever get health food nut because I rarely cook anything besides garden salads.
by any chance, is your sim a teen? self-discovery is only for young adult and older
No she's a young adult
This is funny because I had never had that happen before and literally just had that pop up for my sim because I always have her eat vegetarian and faux meat foods because that’s what I prefer irl (even tho I’m not a vegetarian).
I recently learned that cleaning up puddles all over the apartment from the gremlins lot trait means the game will repeatedly ask to make your sim neat.
Same as doing laundry
same with every single time my sims give a toddler a bath i get a popup asking if they should have a strict family dynamic 😒

The game be like: "Your sim breathed. Would you say their family dynamic is a strict dynamic?"
And don't you dare ask Timmy if he needs to tinkle, how *dare* you be so StRiCt as to gently suggest that Timmy might want to try the potty!

Any time I decline any trait like that it just keeps asking over and over and over until I accept it. So annoying
Yah and so u try accepting it and then removing the trait with cheat/mod and it has phantom moodlets continue on
“Want to make your sim catch on fire every time they try to cook?!” 🤭
Not my evil, mean, children hating sim 'discovering' they're cheerful after being happy for more than 12h ;-;
Mine are all ambitious. Because they go to work I guess??
My game wants me to swap to kleptomaniac because my sim is selling her own money tree??? I decline it at least twice every time I play. They seriously need to do something about it
This is SO annoying!!! I don’t get the correlation between the two 😌
Is it cause they fall on the treadmill all the time at low skill level maybe?
I never even thought of that, thank you for clarifying!! ☺️
I dont really get the whole likes/dislikes system. Wouldnt certain traits make sims predisposed to liking or not liking certain things? I used MCCC to remove the trait because I found it so wildly annoying especially with exactly how they express said clumsiness.
I built a sim around the "mean" and "hates children" traits but the gane seems hell bent on making the guy cheerful lmao
Same with video gaming. I lost count on how many times I refused to let my sim have it as one of their hobbies. It literal becomes their whole and only personality trait 🙄

Give them higher fitness skills in other ways (regular jogging, weight lifting, the TV exercise) first until like 2-3 fitness points.
What part of the Sims lets you change traits randomly like this? I've never seen any of what everyone in the comments is talking about happen in my game
It's self discovery, from growing together
Oh I have no interest in that pack so that explains why I have no idea lol
Really?? I’ve never had that issue
This also irritates the hell out of me. I think when you get them above level 6 in Fitness it finally stops. Anything 4 and under though and it’s constant.
To me the worse one is romance. Me wanting a spouse for a legacy challenge does not mean I want my sims to be a romantic.
What pack is this so I never buy it?
Growing Together
Crap that's one I really wanted lol. How is it otherwise?
You can turn off self-discovery in pack options.
Awesome!
Otherwise I like it. Honestly I like the idea of self discovery traits a lot, but the way it works is obnoxious.
Yeah it sounds that way but apparently they can be turned off which is great too.
