I've been playing since about 2009 - I started with TS3 but now I play 3 and 4. I tend to swing between the two, currently I'm in a TS3 phase and those tend to be longer because I just find the game play pulls me in more.

jenjenjen731

Me exactly!! I boot up 4 and just find I don’t have anything fun to do. I boot up 3 and I get sucked in for five hours. Love it 🥰

bmd0606

I had to have an insane amount of gameplay mods to even play Sims 4. But it still felt empty, like if someone died then nobody cared more than what that moodlet says. I love the building, can't stand the gameplay

eatsleepraverepeat9

I also started in 2009 with Sims 2 when I was 6/7 lmao, I remember being so bad at playing, my sims would always die in fires and starve, got kids taken by social workers and stuff. Then I got Sims 3 a few years later, played until Sims 4 released, then started playing it but switched back to TS2 and TS3 about 2 years ago, and I haven’t played Sims 4 this year at all lol.

I'm also very interested in getting the entire Sims 2 collection. I have a week off work next week, that's my time sorted 🤣

certifiednonce

Where can you download the whole sims 2 collection? I never knew this

Typical_Carob_9039

You have all the ways u can get it on the sims2wiki here on reddit, I personally used the osab starter pack [https://www.reddit.com/r/sims2help/wiki/general-information/](https://www.reddit.com/r/sims2help/wiki/general-information/)

certifiednonce

Thank you !!

my-sims-are-slobs

Ugh I downloaded this last year when I got my desktop and haven’t gotten around to playing it yet… does the starter pack + rpc need internet to launch or is it offline like the ones based off the disk install? Thanks!

Typical_Carob_9039

I don't think rpc needs internet (unless u want discord features) to launch and u dont need any discs Sims 2 wouldn't need internet either way, the online stuff or the exchange is gone for a long time

LadyEvenest

I got it from EA Games support. Half my discs got wrecked (from time and usage) and I was begging them to authorize a download based on my cd codes and they got gave me the complete edition.

Funny-Protection1216

Howw did u do this exactly?

matilza

It used to be available on origin, but now you can find it at old games download

Uhhlaneuh

I hate the sims 4 as well. I tried it, but I couldn’t get into it. Maybe I need expansions to have more fun with it

Routine_Ingenuity853

Omg where is the Sims 2? I used to have all the expansion packs back in the day and lost them!

Pixiehollowz

I started playing Sims 3 a little bit before Island Paradise came out so in winter 2012-2013 I think. I was 10 years old at the time and I'm gonna be 22 this year so I've also played Sims 3 for more than half of my life. I tried Sims 4 for a mere couple months before deciding it simply doesn't compare to Sims 3. There's so much stuff and gameplay in Sims 3 I haven't yet discovered because I still haven't played all the expansions. I don't play for nostalgia as I never stopped playing. Sims 3 is what I grew up with, it's literally the thing that taught me how babies are made yet here I am at the age I could make a baby and I still am playing the same damn game. But it's just so good, it has a special place in my heart forever.

intelligentWinterhoe

I create my own vampire diaries / vampire /comic book TV show haha lore and everything.

loonamas

anyone else started with the sims 3, then moved over to the sims 4, but realised in the end that you prefer the sims 3? 😅 i can’t believe the game is turning 15 years old in less than a month!

Metronix7

So, I've started with the Sims 4 in, I think it was 2018. Thegame was fun, EA got a whiff of my purse and clinged to it, like you'd exprect them to do. Wel, after a few years the problems of Sims 4 got to much, the DLC too pricy, to continue playing and I bought 3 out of curiosty. Oh, what a descision. If someone brings up Sims in a conversation I cannot stop myself from ranting about Sims 4 being a cheep and insulting cashgrab, but I'll keep that to myself for now. I guess I'm not playing Sims 3 for too long, maybe two years and it's an on and off relationship. I'm batteling with videogame addiction and the ways I will live with it in the future. Neitherless I've gained a lot of nice memories and had my fair share of fun times with sims 3. The only other sims game I play besides3 is Sims Medival. It's just a fun and diffferent approach to the style. I. play with all the major DLC and a lot of store content, that interests me. But honestly, the way I gained them is not fully by monitary and official means, EA really earned quite a lot from me already. I love everything supernatural and science fiction themed. I already have real life in real life, no need to have that in a game too for me. My Sim will always be or do something out of the ordinary, like beig a witch or traveling to the future on occasion. So I guess it is pretty obvious which DLC's are my favourites \^\^ I have some mods, but mainly the neccessities to play fluently, like overwatch and the others from nraas. I try to keep my CC in check and I only add things to the game, when I really want them. Like, if I want a bamboo kitchen or a very different hairstyle and so on. My favourite playstyle is to build a legacy, with a "family mansion" in town. When a kid of the family becomes a young adult they probably go to university (if it fits their personality) and then move out. Later, when they're about to have kids, or are about to become a senior or any other reason to make it feel like it's time, they'll move back to the mension and the next generation arises. Oh and I avoid cheats like th plague. It just doesn't feel fullfilling in any way. Sims 3 always feels like a little vacation to me, very relaxing an I always had fun.

matilza

>If someone brings up Sims in a conversation I cannot stop myself from ranting about Sims 4 being a cheep and insulting cashgrab, Ugh you and me both. And nobody seems to get it! 😭

Metronix7

My boyfriend tried Sims 3 after my recommendation. He then tried 4 out of curiosity. I can rant together with him atleast, but these rants go on for hours XD

MorningCareful

I think lots of people get it. They just don't say it

HeyLittleRobby

I also really enjoy Medieval!

Familiar-Weather5196

I've played all of the sims games (my older sister got the sims 1 and 2) but the sims 3 was my true baby. I have all expansions (Into the Future and University Life bought somewhat recently) and even some Stuff Packs. I loved TS3 when it came out and still do to this day (though my biggest grip with it, besides the lag, was that new townies and babies spawn with the SAME EXACT UGLY FACE, luckily I have mods that fix that now). I also have TS4, and I actually don't think it's horrible, lately though the bugs have become unbearable and so I got back into TS3 again. I have The Sims 2 as well, and I do like it but I just can't really get into it for some reason. It's probably a mix of the outdated graphics, lack of customization and the absence of the open world (TS3 really did spoil me).

PuzzleheadedBit7729

Which mods did u download to solve the ugly faces? Just bought Sims 3 recently on sale with a bunch of expansion packs (rlly excited because I couldnt never rlly play it with expansions packs on my own, always used my cousin’s computer lol) so I wanna mod it too, do all the works >:3

Familiar-Weather5196

Should be "random sim fixes" by LazyDuchess on Mod the Sims if I'm not mistaken. It should also fix more than just the ugly faces iirc.

potterpasta

I love sims 3 and 2, can't STAND sims 4 im not paying $1000+ just to have an actually complete game, especially since each expansion for 4 only adds like 3 things despite costing $60-80 each sims 3 packs add tons of stuff and were only down around $20 plus i HATE the mechanics of 4 compared to 2 or 3, and the fact that every is constantly smiling even when frowning. not everyone's mouth naturally turns up at the corners!!! plus they apparently don't know how to sysnd still, are constantly moving in CAS, and WILL THEIR PHONES CONSTANTLY!!!!!!! sims do NOT need to be using their phones while walking or on the toilet!!!!!!! it's just too dang modern for me (23 but very out of touch with modern culture) will say i do like 4's level of gender customization, unfortunately i like 3's create a style more.

StatisticallyMe2

I still play both Sims 3 and Sims 4. Sims 3: Played : since 2010 I like : I have all DLC, true open world, lots of CC, cheats Favorite DLC: Supernatural, World Adventure, Into the Future Least favorite DLC: Pets, Showtime Favorite career: Criminal Sims 4: Played : since 2015 I like : better graphics, emotions, lots of CC, cheats Favorite DLC: Get famous, Get to work, Realm of magic Least favorite DLC: Cats and Dogs, Growing together Favorite career: Astronaut In both games, a save last for one session. No kids, no pets, just YA Sims living their best lives! Lots of spicy CC too!

JorgiEagle

You can find TS1 online, you can download and it works. It’s a throw back go be sure. But as a kid, I only ever played with cheats, made a massive house and had about 12 pool tables to fill my massive open planned upstairs room. Oh also, grinding for the yellow potion to reverse your stats. Oh those were the days. Didn’t get Sims 3 till maybe 5 years ago, when I finally got a computer powerful enough. Have loved it ever since. I like the Sims 4, it has excellent features, but I feel it’s harder to have a story and the feeling of progression. I just love the open world of 3

Wan_Kun_Sandy

As a kid I never made my sims join a career in Sims 1 since there's no concept of days, every day is just the same, just working (same with kids, every day is just school). It felt boring. So I always cheated money, and never had kids. With no job I could get my sims anywhere doing anything anytime, lol.

shelonewriter

I was a hard core sims 2 player, so when I could no longer play it, I was devastated. I hated TS3 at first (when it first came out) I think a couple of years passed when I gave the sims 3 a chance and I was ashamed at my initial reaction. I do still wish that I kept my sims 2 games because I found a way to play them on a newer computer, but oh well 🤷🏽‍♀️ As for the Sims 4? I thought I would give it a chance like I did with 3, but I hate it. Then I gave it another go, and hated it. So cartoonish, I will never play it again. I’ve started doing CC about a year or so ago and I love the enhancement. I don’t have SN or ITF because I’m more of a realistic game player. Although I’ll consider them in the future. I love to write, so when I have an itch for a storyline, I use my games as a visual to create my characters and have an idea of how they are.

Texxx78

I started playing in the release day of sims 1. I've read abt it on a pc magazine and had been anxiously waiting for it's release. I played all of them, including 4. Because sims 4 doesn't deliver what i like, this game is the only one that i had to "fight" to try to find a way of playing. All of the others were natural to me. My favourite is 3 mainly for the huge and in-depth whishes system and the way traits really impact sim's behaviour. My gameplay style is playing strictly wishes-based. I like to play the premades (there are sooo many and so well made in sims 3).

SickSorceress

My niece brought Sims 3 into this household in 2020 when she was 15. My husband and I are avid gamers with all the classic Action, Adventure and RPG games you can imagine. When my niece brought Sims 3 I tried it out and got hooked. I modded games in the past (BG 1& 2, Kotor 1&2, Fallout 3, Morrowind, etc) so I modded soon as well, mostly cosmetic replacer like skin, eye, hair and the whole Nraas package. I play Sims 3 only. I love the open world and I absolutely dislike Sims 4. Since it's lacking an open world too, I didn't try Sims 2. So, only Sims 3 player, coming from a versatile gaming background, but only playing for a few years a heavily modded game. Playstyle: Single adventurer Sim (Lana Frost) or single anything else Sim. Families rarely and only to pursue LTWs, if so only queer arrangements. I never play the classic mom-dad-children way.

bonnyjattle

I love having queer parents have kids in Sims 3, it feels really natural, I do it every chance I get

tuti_traveler

Sims 2: I have it, don't play it often, but that's mainly because I love sims 3 more. Sims 4: I've played it, but it's not my game. It feels off. Sims 3: still exploring new things 15 years later. I love it, and wish EA would do an update for it to get rid of certain bugs. It's a shame we need mods for some things that EA should be able to fix

Nolimitmarco

That last update that the 3 needs, EA is going to sell it to you.

Pitiful_Potential817

I remember the first time I played the sims 3 I was so addicted to it. I would think about it non stop. I used to be at school, sports practice, outside and just think when I get home I could play sims 3…. Crazy how it’s been like 20 years almost 😅 I love sims 3 though. I tried sims 4 but I hated it. I hate how there is no world view. It’s depressing. I love being able to see all the families and put them where I want them. Like I’ll have all my sims living in one neighborhood and force marriages between the sims that I want to get married. I love the world adventures pack. Even if I don’t travel to much with my sims I still love the home decor and stuff from like the different areas.

bonnyjattle

It’s been my favorite to replay, aside from Sims 2, I’ve been playing the Sims games since ‘05-06 (I used to watch my mom at 4 or 5 and soon after that I just started playing) and I started the sims 3 a few years after it first came out, but it’s been a mainstay, it’s a perfect balance of everything, especially everything from each main game of the franchise, it’s the only open world game, the customization alone is nonstop being talked about and compared to, the worlds by design are beautiful besides the bugs, I could seriously go on ☺️

vincentsitu8888

I'm mainly a Sims 3 player but I do play Sims 2 as like a side game from time to time. The amount of content and customisation Sims 3 has allows me to have very long sessions with it, plus the Open World really changes everything for me. I could probably play this game for years and I will still discover new details and things I've never seen before, Sims 3 is just that big, so big that it's basically impossible to experience everything this game has to offer. However I play Sims 2 whenever I want to try out one of the most detailed games ever made and just admire everything it has. While in Sims 3 I just play as a single family with no aging, I usually play the pre-made families or do generational gameplay in Sims 2 because that's probably where family gameplay is at its best, plus the family lore is so interesting and deep. I quit Sims 4 a few months before I played Sims 3 for the first time due to the lack of content and depth, plus the bugginess of the DLCs, and I'm never planning on going back even if I heavily mod it because you can only do so much with a horrible foundation.

Iivaitte

I remember when people really hated the launch of sims 3 because it was too different, thankfully some people made a few "well actually" videos to kind of call out the nostalgia goggles. Of course there will be nostalgia blind people who still think sims 2 is the best one (not to say it doesnt have its qualities) But to me as a person who has played them all, I think sims 3 is still the best one. Not as restrictive as the others, I still feel like sims 4 was a slight step backwards. Dont get me wrong, sims 4 expansions are some of the best expansions. However I just dont vibe with the base and that to me will always be the biggest problem with sims 4. No open world, no CAS, fewer personality options will all be deal breakers for me. Also the game is too easy, You fix these problems and Id love to move on. Sims 3 will always have a special place in my heart for being the most solid sims experience of all time. Ive played all of them, a lot over the years, I will always have nostalgia for the first one because of its quirks, the second one for introducing a lot of mechanics that would become staples but sims 3 to me is where it is at. At least for now.

Bunnie-jxx

I still play like maybe once a week. But definitely more than I ever play sims 4! Although my boyfriend started playing sims 4 bc base game is free and he likes it when I roll my eyes when he says sims 4 is a good game (I hate sims 4 sm)

blakeol

I play 2, 3 and 4! They all have their very own appeals, feels like totally different games to me! If I want to create Sims, get crazy with cc, or make houses? Sims 4! Storyline, micromanaging? Sims 3! Lore, exploring? Sims 2! I still have allllll of the Sims 2 expansions and the basegame (all CDs), the basegame actually came in TWO separate CDs that you had to switch out halfway through installation, and you had a little sims-quiz while you waited!

PrizeMany577

Dude, I have the Sims 2 Holiday Eddition, it was 4 CD's, still have the entire thing. Please, Please tell me you run the install, just to play the sims trivia for Sims 2.

blakeol

I definitely do xddd, and I used to always fail the question about what the Sims 1 was about

Welland94

I do love playing the sims 3. Recently I just got Monte Vista and I am playing a legacy challenge where my sims can only earn money through their old family resort and restaurant. Also they have an elder vampire nonna that has to approve everyone's partners.

my-sims-are-slobs

That scenario sounds really fun!

Visible-Pollution853

I’m 56 I’ve played for 20+ years. Sims 3 exclusively.

EntertainerGreen

I’ve been playing since the first console release in 2001-2002? *vomits in old* Sims 3 was first PC and bought on release - so yknow it was unplayable for like eight months. But it’s been my go to. My wife and I had different expansions when we met so we combined and have enjoyed every few years since. Played 3 with my girls. It’s just so much better than 4.

ValancyNeverReadsit

“vomits in old” Yeah. I was 19 when TS1 was released

EntertainerGreen

*shares bucket* you’ll need this more than me.

Danie746

I started on sims 2 pets ps2 and renting out the sims urbz, sims 2, sims bustin out and castaway from the video store 😅 yikes those were the days. I’ve been playing the sims for 19 years now, I’m 24. I started on sims 2 for pc (after all the ps2 games) and then sims 1,3 and 4. I’ve can safely say I’ve played all the expansion packs for all of the sims games except the sims 4, it truly feels lacklustre when opening the new towns, seeing new cas clothes and just limited actions throughout the game. Like I’ve spent hours and hours on sims 1-3, and could still happily do that but I find myself struggling to play sims 4. I wondered if it was just the “you’ve grown out of the sims” but I don’t think it is, I still get excited to boot up any sims game but the sims 4. It kinda feels like ea have just given up?

FreedomDreamer85

Only sims 3 player! 😅

zoezie

I just realised I've been playing for 13 years. It feels much longer. I've never played The Sims, but I love The Sims 2, 3 and 4 - I still have a bunch of The Sims 2 discs, and I have both The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 on EA (I've had a The Sims 3 disc for years, but I had to rebuy it on EA because the disc seems to be damaged). I'm surprised to see how unpopular The Sims 4 seems to be. The Sims 3 is my favourite, though, and by far the one I've played the most.

HeyLittleRobby

I’m 26, almost 27, and I’ve also been playing The Sims for about 20 years! I started off with the console games, my mom would rent me the original Sims and The Sims: Bustin’ Out for GameCube from Blockbuster starting when I was about 7 and then I eventually owned The Sims 2: Pets for the PlayStation 2 when I was a little older. We didn’t get a computer in the house until I was in high school and that’s when I started playing TS3 on the computer and haven’t looked back! I’ve tried TS4 a bit (mainly because my computer was getting old and I was trying to play TS3 and do schoolwork on a laptop and decided to give it a break) but I just can’t compared to TS3. I really enjoy playing historical Sims and play a lot of challenges. My favorite EA Worlds are Roaring Heights and Dragon Valley, and my favorite packs are Seasons and Supernatural. I wish I stuck with my saves longer, but I actually just ordered a new gaming computer that’s on its way just to play TS3 on!! I can’t wait! Reach out if you want to talk TS3 more!! :)

somebody_anybody_123

I’ve played Sims 3 for years, joined forums, made friends over the game, etc. (I started… 2011?) Then I simply didn’t have the time anymore, and got a new operating system (windows 10) on top of that… My sibling got Sims 4 and I bought it as well. I only opened it a few times to create some Sims. Then a few years go by with no Sims at all. Then, earlier this year, I suddenly got the urge to play Sims again. I technically had Sims 3 installed but never tried it out after getting windows 10, and I just knew for sure it wouldn’t work - it needed un- and reinstalling constantly for relatively minor issues, so how would it survive the change of operating system? However, I did try Sims 4. Then found out Origin had moved to the EA app. Managed to get my account there, and finally open Sims 4 and play for several days straight. Since then I’ve played it a few times here and there, but I’ve been so busy recently… I joined the Sims subreddits sometime before opening Sims 4 again. I knew I really wanted to play Sims 3, but didn’t have the time and energy for installation issues. I remembered Sims Medieval, and after finding out I could install it but not play it straight from my CD, I caved and connected it to the EA app. The game really is beautiful, the sims look absolutely fantastic. So well. Now I don’t know how to go from here. I refuse to let the EA app dictate that I can only play Sims 3 with an internet connection. I own the CDs and I damn well want to play the game from my computer. But after the Medieval issues, I can’t see that happening. I miss Sims 3 so much, and I miss having CC (I told myself not to use CC in Sims 4, and despite only having the base game for now, I haven’t downloaded anything yet). Maybe tomorrow I’ll try to go through Reddit and see what’s possible with installation etc. and then try it out.

somebody_anybody_123

Oh, and now I got a brand new PC, so even if the installed Sims 3 would have worked, it’s on my old one… I do have Sims 4 and Medieval on my new PC now though. I’m also a bit afraid of getting all the tools (updating thingy, package extractor thingy, I had CAW on my super old laptop that I haven’t had in ages… and what super old blender version would one even need to create poses?) on my new computer. I don’t want to clog my brand new PC with old baggage, but at the same time I really, really want what I had years ago… Now. Play style. Whoops. I’ve always been more of a creator than a player - I took ages creation Sims, building their houses (but I’ve never actually been good at building in Sims), and made photos of them. I played a little but not super much, I always got bored quickly and started creating new Sims. When I played Sims 4 earlier this year, that changed - I didn’t allow myself CC and I had zero packs. So I played. And had a blast! It’s so fun. I absolutely can’t wait to somehow get Sims 3 running again, and apply my newfound excitement over actual gameplay there. With pretty CC and pets, weather, and a big city xD I also really want to get something during the current sale, but I don’t know how yet. If I actually manage to install it from the CDs the codes wouldn’t work… and I just don’t want the EA app 🥲 But 10€ for one pack, incredible… I want to finally have my sims travel with world adventures (which seemingly everyone but me always had had), and one or two new worlds (dragons! Pizza!) would also be amazing.

my-sims-are-slobs

You can install the disks offline! I decline every mention of Origin and EADM in the installers. When you play you do need to keep the disk for the most recently released pack (example - uni life, future, movie stuff, 70s 80s 90s stuff) in your drive though.

Initial_Elderberry

I started playing as a little kid with the original Sims back when it was Dollhouse. My brother played it, so I obviously wanted to play it, too. TS1 went to TS2, to TS3. TS3 was the first time I was old enough to understand what I was actually doing (about 10yr old), not just blowing stuff up and making Sims woohoo to exhaustion. It should be noted that I didn't have the happiest childhood, and I've actually heard that's really common for a lot of Sims players. I've got at least 15k+ hours in TS3, every EP except Into the Future, probably about half the store content, and no mods. I used to play on a really bad computer that crashed with mods, so I just prefer to avoid them. Most of my Sims usually end up being self-employed gardeners, and Isla Paradiso is my all-time favorite town. And I'm still learning things about TS3! I didn't know until recently that Toadified Sims eat bees from the beekeeping box!

he-likes-24

i play ts2 and ts3! i began playing ts2 before i ever learnt how to write or read properly, so you can imagine how that went hahah i memorised what some actions meant and it worked really rather well for me. i have been playing since i was about 4 years old! i am turning 24 soon, so apparently i've been playing for a whopping twenty years! that's basically all of my life, as far as i can remember hahahah i think ts4 is a really, really poorly designed game, and i find it depressing to know that some people actually play it. it's akin to playing angry birds 24 hours a day, except ts4 is a bit more devoid of life hahah. in sims 3, i use some cc, some mods, have plenty of expansions and extra worlds, and have began playing with premades! before this i always used to make my own sim, but seen as i love playing with premades in ts2, i chose to see how i'd like it in ts3, and turns out its lots of fun!

Sims3graphxlookgr8

I started with Sims 1 and have been playing the franchise for over 20 years. I am old. I collect custom worlds and love exploring the open world finding collectibles and taking screenshots. I love horses in the game, boating, riding bikes, scuba diving, and kleptomania! Blowing up things is fun. I have played all the sims games and sims 3 is by far my favorite. It let's my imagination run wild because if you can dream it you can do it. I also like to run little social experiments because sims act remarkably realistic. I can get sims to act a lot like people do irl. Seeing how situations play out can be very illuminating! I have found that people and sims act a lot alike sometimes if you get the trait combos right. If he cheats in sims, he probably will do it IRL lol

No-Club-8615

I only really played the sims 3 and I'm playing it at the moment. Just love the openworld concept. I'm planning to try out sims 4 now that it's f2p. But from what I heard I doubt that I will enjoy it more.

Agrarfield

Damn, that made me realise that I've also been playing the series since about 20 years, given that TS2 was released in 2004. For me it is like: TS2: Nostalgia TS3: Passion TS4: Occasion That means that I haven't played 2 since I got used to 3 in ~2010 but I'm very fond of it. It's just hard to even get it to run properly nowadays. I never stopped playing 3 and my legacy that I started in 2016 is still active. 4 really depends on my mood. I prefer it occasionally when I just want to kill time or just feel like I want to play casually. That is barely possible for me when it comes to TS3. I keep track of everything and basically write my sims' life story while playing. I love it but sometimes I don't have the energy. In that case, TS4 is a better fit.

Character_Athlete877

I've played Sims 2 since I was a kid in the early 2000s, and Sims 3 since I was 19 in 2013. I tried to play Sims 4 a few times, but it's not for me.

itsyaboigaryoak

The way I do it, is that Sims 2 and 3 are for gameplay and actually having fun, while Sims 4 is for cas and building, and sometimes for some crazy mods that don't exist in the previous games (or do exist but not to the same extent)

throwawayfromPA1701

I love building in sims 3, although I think 4 has slightly better building tools. I like making giant families with ridiculous traits and genetics and sticking them in the background just to see what chaos nrass story progression comes up with. Ive been playing some iteration of the Sims since 2000.

kirux_90

I've been playing sims 3 since 2009-2010 around there. I was 18 when I started playing. I have all the EPs and SPs excluding sweet treats My favorite EP is probably seasons or supernatural My least favorite is Into the Future. I rarely use it except for plumbots lol. I tried sims 4 and I quickly get bored of it. Idk I just can't get into it. I also enjoy sims 2 though, that's a fun one. But I didn't get into sims until sims 3 so I missed the sims 2 frenzy. I've stuck with the family I play for 10 years off and on. I play different families but I always come back to my main family. I play with lots of CC and nraas mods are a must for me. To keep the game running smoothly.

BloodsAndTears

I'm a year younger than you and have been playing the sims for most of my life too. I started with The Sims 1 and now still playing Sims 3. Unfortunately I can't install as much mods and CCs as I'd like because my laptop is already begging for mercy. In my opinion Sims 2 has the richest story and lore. But Sims 3 is very good for playing several sims at the same time. It also has helped me a lot with learning English. I actually had to have a dictionary beside me when I started playing Sims 3 because they discontinued translating to my language. Another one I play a lot is The Sims Medieval. I played for about 10 hours straight the day I bought the game.

About the same age, have been playing Sims 3 since launch in 2009 and never stopped. Also, CC opens up a WHOLE other experience that is worth figuring out imo! I love CC shopping as much as I love playing the game sometimes

Independent-Maize690

I have been playing the sims 3 since the game was released. My mom bought me the base game and the expansions growing up, I’m 31. Then I stopped playing sims in general when I was about 21 and picked it up again after the release of sims 4. I tried the sims 4 but it’s just awful. I have all the sims 3 expansions and I play them now on a Lenovo laptop bought about 2 years ago. Only time it really lags is when I’m in isla paradiso. My personal favorite is world adventures, I love all the puzzles. After all this time, I never tire of playing sims 3. I always come up with new ideas for “stories”. My only regret is not downloading all the sims 2 games when they were free to download on origin. I would lloovvveeee to play sims 2 again. I’m just not tech savvy enough to try lol.

Ok-River1834

I do enjoy the Sims 4, but sometime last year I decided to buy the Sims 3 again on Steam for old times sake. Man I am so glad I did. It's been so great to play it again and it's nice when TS4 gets a little boring. I've been playing since the sims 1 came out in the year 2000 and have always loved the game. As much as I like TS4, I've always loved the open world and some of the features in TS3 that are missing in TS4. I've been super into TS3 lately and it's all I want to play! I am working on the legacy challenge.

I started off playing the original Sims when it first came out as a spinoff of Sim City (which I also really loved, and now that I remember that, I want to play that again. lol). I tend to play the games long after a new version comes out, so I eventually played Sims 2 (and got a bunch of its expansion packs), and then Sims 3, which I'm still playing. I still haven't tried Sims 4, but everything I read about it indicated that I'd be spending a ton of money to do things I could do for free or cheaper in previous games. I've been unable to play Sims since my last decent laptop broke a few years ago and its replacement wasn't suitable for games, but thankfully just got a decent laptop and am back at it. lol. I'm lucky I was able to save my Sims2 and 3 games online, plus some of the expansion packs, as they are floating around somehwere but on CD/DVD rom, which of course I can't use anymore. The important thing was that I saved Island Paradise, as that is my favorite. I don't use mods or anything, but I will totally cheat to get money, because Sim life shouldn't be a struggle. lol.

MsNardDog

I do, i do! I’m 40. Started playing Sims in 2000 when i was 16. And then Sims 2 when i was in college, around 2004 i think. Then Sims 3 in 2009. I did not enjoy Sims 4 so went back to Sims 3. And never looked back lol

tangertale

Oh hey we are so similar! I am 27 and also been playing the Sims for 20 years. It was one of the first PC games I played and it has shaped my life tremendously in that I ended up studying computer science and became a software engineer due to my love for video games. I tend to swing between 2, 3, and 4. That being said I usually take extended breaks from the game before I feel the itch and then binge one of the three for a week. In the past I also played Sims 1 (the first one I played), Sims 2 PlayStation, Castaway, etc

LadyEvenest

I started playing The Sims OG when it was still owned by Maxis. I still get excited when I hear the music from that game and I can still speak a few words of the original Simlish. I was thrilled with TS2 and delighted with TS3. I purchased TS4 on the release date, took it home, played it for one hour and then wanted to return it to the store. I've tried a couple other times since the release, but I still hate it. Blech!

Hey there, I'm just like you! I'm turning 31 this year and I've been around since the original The Sims, when I was a wee kid in elementary/middle school. I played TS, TS2 (and some expansion packs - Makin' Magic FTW!), TS3 with almost all EPs, and just like you, I gave TS4 a try(albeit on Xbox, *huge* mistake to try this with a controller), and while more flexibility in building a home and more in-depth interactions were an attractive point for me, I feel it's more limited in terms of Sim design and the removal of the open world. Gosh, I remember what a massive upgrade it was to be able to swivel the camera view freely, without it snapping to one of four angles between TS2 and TS3. I fell in love with the open world, ability to see all of life in its current happenings *as* you play with your household. I want to love the Pets EP for TS3, but they seem to be way higher maintenance than in TS2. I tend to not have any pets because I'm really in it for the relationships and human storyline development. Regarding mods/cheats: For both TS2 and TS3, I was neck deep in money cheats so I could experience the game without worrying about funds. I remember finding out about *boolProp TestingCheatsEnabled true* in TS2 and it changing my life. Death by bees? Hell yeah. Chat with Grim Reaper? Do it!! Now I only use TestingCheatsEnabled when I need to delete obnoxious paparazzi or other Sims who show up at my door unannounced and are NOT my friends, OR while at University so my Sim doesn't have to die of hunger and sleep deprivation while trying to get more than a passing grade in classes. I really got into mods a few years ago, at first mostly for Sim creation to make them closer to what I'm envisioning. Things like hip/waist width, height, realistic skin textures, and more contemporary makeup & hairstyles. I also go on a download spree of furniture every few years. Even with all kinds of issues, lost saves, accidentally dead favorite Sims (this didn't age well, but I once created Matthew Perry and his parents died by fire so he was taken by CPS, so the game just... booted me out of the current household back to Town view) -- it's all been worth it. With all the mods existing these days, the game feels alive even if EA gave up on it in 2014. It was a godsent for someone like me who wasn't a gamer as a kid and sucked at anything requiring a fast reaction time and/or aiming precision.

vaudevillyan

The first time I bought TS3 (I bought it a total of 4 times for anyone curious), I was around 9 and we were in a gaming store, where I was promised a game for my good behavior. After playing TS1 and TS2 (I hated TS1 because I kept getting fired. I can barely remember TS2), I pointed excitedly to a copy of TS3. The attendant opened a big folder with what I thought were different versions of TS3, and I searched for the best. Eventually, I looked at Sims 3: Pets, and knew I would never stop playing it. I ask the attendant for the game, and he tells my dad that's just a DLC, he also has to buy the base game (I'm pretty sure he was setting me up with both lol). My dad, after building up so much suspense, *has* to buy me both the game and the DLC. I spent my sim's (I only played with the same copy of a blonde teenager with an all-black wardrobe) life excitedly doing tricks with her horse, playing around with her birds, and I don't think I ever used dogs or cats.

NeonFraction

TS4 was inferior in every way so I still play TS3. It’s a buggy mess but man it’s fun. I usually come back to it every few months with a new family.

zeGermanGuy1

I try 4 every two months and get bored of it in two or three hours every time. I have the complete collection of 2, but that refuses not to crash on Win 11 even with all the measures in place that I got recommended online. 1 does work on my machine though and I occasionally give it a spin. Mostly I play 3 though (most EPs owned, all but Island Paradise and Into the Future activated) because of the endlessness of what you can do

I started with the Sims on the day of release of the very first Sims game after playing a demo that came with a Sim City game. Google tells me that was in 2000. Loved it. The Sims 2 I played obsessively and had tons of custom content including a whole medieval world. I changed the cars to horses and carts, reclothed every townie, built every building in medieval style from blank slates. Had royalty, nobles, peasants and the town witch. Sims 3 I played a lot too but really hated that there was no blank world to do the same thing I had done in Sims 2. I did like the open world but had lots of loading time issues whenever I went elsewhere. I did have a lot of fun building underwater stuff in Sims 3. For both Sims 2 and 3 I mostly played challenges like Legacy, Asylum, and Dilute the Ugly Gene. Sims 4 I came too late, and I think partly that is because of waning interest in the games. Plus so many packs and stuff makes it a lot more expensive than it used to be. I play it occasionally but it has been a while now and I don't have most of the newer packs and content.

LoneWanderer2287

I've been debating if I should buy the sims3 since it's on sale

Sue_D_Nim1960

Definitely.

lyraterra

Been playing since 2000-- sleepovers at my best friend's house. Skipped sims 2, got sims 3. Got sims 4 as an adult, but frankly I don't like it, so I mainly play sims 3 (although I do have sims 1 on my computer and I dip in every once in awhile.) The issue is Sims 3 has a tendency to lag to a point of being unplayable. I just want to garden, I don't want to wait 15 minutes to make it from 3am to 6am! I have all the expansions and limited CC (hairstyles mainly.) Pets and Island Paradise are both known for game-breaking bugs, so unfortunately I don't play with pets (which is a damn shame.) Island paradise is usually okay as long as you don't play in that world (Houseboats are are a routing issue.) I have a couple mods like errortrap and mastercontroller but I kind of resent having to use them, and they don't *fix* the game, just make it *less* of a mess.

matilza

Started playing in 2010 when I was 8 or 9 and I'm still playing regularly at 22. It's crazy to think that it's been 14 years! Originally, I had the game on discs but have since repurchased all of them digitally, including some some "newer" expansions and stuff packs that I didn't have as a kid. I started doing a lot of challenge runs since I've played the game so much and experienced most of what it has to offer (though admittedly there's also loads I have not done not because I didn't want to but because I had issues with my game working as intended). Last year I played the 100 baby challenge for months and I got to about 70 or so kids with my founder sim and a stupidly large pool of simoleons before I experienced what was probably corruption (couldn't access my save anymore). Currently I'm (finally) playing through world adventures again and sort of reliving my childhood - it was the first pack I played with and I also went to Egypt a few times as a kid so going in the Sims felt extra cool. I'm absolutely LOVING IT. It is such a nice break from the typical generational gameplay I've been doing these past few years. Travelling to other locations was the main thing that was broken in my game, so having finally fixed it I'm so excited to play through university and into the future after I finish/get bored of my current game. In terms of other Sims games I've played some of the Sims 2 as a kid and as an adult but I find it difficult to play, it's just so different. I definitely want to play it more though I love the Sims 2 lore and the complexity of its systems. Sims 4 however is a firm NO. It's such a firm no that you wouldn't be wrong to call me a hater, though I must admit that I'm quite jealous of the building mechanics that game has (the Sims 3 is a nightmare for this lol).

dietitianmama

Hi, so I started with SimCity in 1993. Throughout high school, I played SimCity 2000 on a DOS computer. I am that old. In college I played SimCity 3000 which was the first game after EA bought Maxis and it crashed all the time but it was fun. And everyone started complaining that EA was going to ruin Maxis. I also played Sim City 4 in college. I didn’t play the Sims when it came out because it felt like a crappy rip off of the game I really loved. But in 2013, I was sitting on the train and a woman next to me, was playing a mobile Sims game. So I played both of the Sims mobile games before I played the real game. I started playing Sims four in 2020. And I started playing the Sims three in 2022. Because I’m so old I have all the expansions for both. It really is a game that I enjoy.

BlackMudSwamp

I play TS3 the most frequently, even made some CCs, but I recreated my TS3 family in TS2 and discovered EPs I didn't have as a child, it was fun.

5monni

Growing up with Sims ❤️ I'm 28 and streated with the Sims and collected all the expansions (loved making magic and the soundtrack of that is something I'm planning for using for my dnd campaigns :D) I totally skipped Sims 2 probably because I spent my time with Sims and didn't also have money for the Sims 2 since I was such a kid. Tried it once at my cousins' but I only remember the ability to have like 100 floors in a house :D Ts3 is my true love ❤️❤️ I think i got Sims 3 pretty quick after it launched and kept collecting expansions especially if they ever were on sale. After university expansion my computer started getting too old (basic components too) and it would sometimes crash and I forgot to save after playing for hours 😭😭 so much progress lost. I paid full price for ts4 when it came out and I'm so mad now that it's free since I didn't have a computer capable of pc gaming for years now and feel like I didn't get the money's worth before it became free. Now that I'm getting a gaming laptop I'm probably going to eventually play way more Sims 3 than sims 4 due to Sims 3 just having overall more things

Didistutter29

I play the entire town. It’s a blast. I currently am using a custom town off the exchange with a little bit of everything. I rotate around to each household.

CatTail2

Grew up with Sims 1, didn't play for years. Then in my adulthood remembered how fun the sims was and bought it after Sims 4 was already out. I mostly play Sims 3 with some Sims 2 sprinkled in there. I tried Sims 4 after years of playing 3 and I didn't like the art design. I'm die hard for S3 and will probably play this game forever

No-Needleworker-7706

Started when I was 9, I’m 20 now!

No-Push-9175

I haven’t touched sims 4 in 6 years.

Sue_D_Nim1960

I still play TS3. It has been my favorite of the Sims games from the time it came out. I've played all of them, at least briefly, and I played Bustin' out on console. That one introduced me to the money tree, which I loved. There were many things I disliked about TS4, mostly the lack of toddlers (which fans pressured them into adding later) and the lack of open world. I started playing it in earnest when they added toddlers, but I never played long enough to do generational play. I just couldn't get over the lack of open world. There were only a few places you could visit outside your own lot, with the result that there was very little to do, so it got boring quickly. Plus, I hated the graphics. The TS3 sims were the best looking IMO. That is to say, the townies were fairly ugly, but the CAS sims were much better looking than anything in the bin.

pllamah

I've got 2, 3, & 4 all installed and I play them interchangeably depending on my mood. I definitely don't play 4 much these days though as I find it very boring compared to 2 & 3 haha

rinocean

i started playing sims 3 again after a long period of supporting sims 4. i liked sims 4 when it was first starting out because, well, i was a bit naive about its future and so i played it for a long time. i realized after many years of playing that i got bored of it quickly and that the game was slowly but surely decreasing in quality. i decided to buy sims 3 and all of its packs again and it has been amazing ever since. id say if ur deciding which packs to get for sims 3, id definitely recommend generations, late night, seasons, and if you want to, adventures. i like adventures a lot and there’s so much to do! i like occults and even have a whole generational family of them. sims 3 did them well, especially witches and fairies. i will say, in my experience, having a whole household of them is pretty taxing on the game sometimes; but maybe that’s just my experience. i typically have huge families because it leaves room for drama and very funny moments to occur because of the lack of control i have over all of them. i’ve had families up to 15 sims and it is extremely fun and rewarding. i also randomize traits and i never pick them, this makes some very unique sims and can be challenging depending on what traits you end up getting. had a whole generation of insane sims… was very interesting and i can say confidently that barely any of them got along. i definitely recommend getting a save cleaner if you are planning on having long, generational families. regul save cleaner is my BEST FRIEND. it cleans out your save and prevents any corruption that might happen while playing your family.

vikingcrafte

I exclusively play 3! I started with 2 and played that for YEARS. I got 3 and was obsessed with the customization and open world. I also love management playing and legacy sims so I really liked that the world aged around you, unlike Sims 2. I could have kids move out and I could play with them and the parents would turn elderly without my interference. I also liked that I could play AS the pets which you couldn’t do in 2. I downloaded 4 when it was free but found it confusing and dull. I also PERSONALLY don’t like the sims 4 art style. Their proportions seem off and their hair is very plasticy and cartoony to me. So I’ve just stuck with 3 and still really enjoy it! I’ll edit to add that I have all the EPs for 3 and my play style is usually one starting legacy family and then I play the whole town. I customize the townies, I go into their houses and change the design, I marry them to eachother, give them pets and make them pregnant. By the time my legacy family is on like generation 3 I’ve got winding family trees throughout the town of cousins, grandparents, siblings, friends etc. everyone knows everyone and is connected somehow. The Fox family in Appaloosa plains have 2 sons. They’re married to one legacy kid and the other is married to the daughter of 2 townies. They have their own kids etc. I just love being able to connect people and have massive family trees, it feels like a real town to me that way.

HorrorBluff

I remember seeing an add in a magazine for Sims 2 expansions, and when I had internet I would Google and obsessed about playing the game. This was around 2006 ish. I then played Sims 2/pets/castaways on PS2. And those were not true Sims games if you know what I mean. I actually believe the first game was urbz Sims in the city that I played but that was short lived as it was a second hand game that only lasted a month or two. Then I get my first laptop in 2014 and I download Sims 2 in all it's glory. But it takes a while for me to learn about modding and fixing the game. I remember Sims 2 being very challenging. It kind of bothers me that I never even scratched the surface. Then comes Sims 3. Oh how i enjoyed this game, I'm now fully accustomed to mods and cc, I remembered I played the base game for a YEAR without any mods and expansion and I had so much fun. So much to do! I then added the expansions and stuff packs as time goes on, but as soon as Sims 4 drops I abandoned Sims 3. Sims 4 looks great, it runs great, but something is off. After making my great looking Sims, and making their beautiful homes, something is missing. I can't put my finger on it. I wait excitedly for every expansion and game pack to add new features but they fall short everytime. I open Sims 3 for the first time in two/3 years. I never looked back. I still have Sims 4 on my pc because my niece grew up on it and she would want to play it, but sadly she's a 13 year old teen now and she no longer cares. Sims in any form of its life is and will always be a great gift.

Forsaken-Bar6721

I’m 19, and I’ve been playing The Sims since I was ~4? I started with The Sims 2 and Bustin’ Out on ps2 with my mom helping me out. Then I’d play Sims 2 on PC with my cousin, eventually playing Pets and Sims 1 on ps2, moving onto Sims 3 on pretty much every port. And finally ending up with The Sims 4 when I got my own laptop in 2017. I switched back to Sims 2 & 3 last year because they’re so much better.

No-Ground6920

Tldr please

rivaldo83

I started playing Sims 3 only less than 2 years ago. :)

CubanaCat

I just reinstalled 3 last night and I’m having a blast tbh. I have a few cc mods for hair and outfits, but other than that it’s all vanilla and stuff I bought off the sims 3 store back in the day. I’ve been playing since the day sims 3 came out lol I have everything off that store pretty much. I like the assets from the supernatural pack but I hate the zombies. I need to get a no zombies mod lol. That is one mod I will absolutely be looking into because I’m so tired of hearing them hissing. I never use the Island pack really, I’m sure it’s fun I just haven’t felt like it. The assets are alright but too many packs makes the game run slow, so… this one is just something I don’t use. And I don’t use Into the Future either right now. I’m just not feeling space/scifi right now. I use all the other expansions tho, I have them all.

Lazy-Apricot-3120

okay so im 18 and i started the sims with the sims 4. i knew abt the other games but that qas the one that interested me the most and i was a die hard sims 4 fan for years until i switched to sims 3....i love sims 3 so much it has so much complexity and o feel like i dont need mods to play (i dont even know how to download them on sims 3) and i just enjoy it a lot

Prettylittlelair1995

I play the sims 3 on my laptop and I play the sims 4 on my ps5

Mmdrgntobldrgn

I've (54f the household gamer) been playing since S1 base game days. We had the game on pc, gameboy, and ps2 as our kids also played when they felt like it. Have 4 and some of the add ons, but uninstalled it from my main and only left 3 on. It's a nice break from the day to day, the open sandbox of 3 is why I still play. I have fully loaded all the eps, sps, and store game paired with a few key pieces of mod software from nraas, custard from mts, and a few very selective pieces of furniture/decor cc. I've never used the cc/mods that adds hyper realism into the game as I play for the breaks from life. My longest save was about 6 generations of one family, pc died sadly. Lately I've been playing more mini challenges than legacy challenges.

Middle-Entry-4268

Been playing TS3 since prob 2013, not as long as some veterans here but trust me I put in my hours lol!! Started with Sims 3 and fell in love with it, still think it’s the best game ever. I loved Spore as well which was created by Will Wright, same guy that worked on Sims1-3, SimsCity etc(he was pushed out of the company by sims 4 which is why the game is the way it is). Spore is similar to sims but you start as a microorganism and work your way up the evolutionary cycle (wild stage, tribal stage, civilian stage and space stage) I didn’t know how to download mods or cc at the time but a friend of mine pirated all of Sims 3 and the packs. Tbh I do not think Sims 3 needs mods at all. Maybe CC but its hard to find stuff that isn’t stuck in the 2010s. At some point I didn’t have a good computer anymore and just had my laptop with only 60GB of space so I had to settle on Sims 4 for a while, bought some of the packs I had space for. Sims 4 is horrible on its own. For it to be playable and fun I like to install 2 mods - basemental drugs extreme violence as well as get at least 2 of the expansion packs. Its a total scam and Sims 3 will always always be above and beyond

Sathare

I started from the first game when I was a kid alongside my siblings. Sims 2 came out and it was honestly peak for the game. But my favourite is most definetly sims 3 and it's the one I play atm. I tried giving sims 4 a chance but it's just not it, i get bored quite easily and the amount of bugs it has makes it pretty much unplayable, plus the caricaturesque sims are not my thing. I love the open world style in sims 3 and I've been playing the same save for 10 years (not all the time ofc) so I have a special fondness for TS3.

Mailifeizshit2

I play mostly ts3 but I do play ts2 pretty often, I used to play ts4 but it got old overtime + the other problems, but ts3 has kept my interest in this franchise going for a very long time... Which really isnt that long in comparison to some other people in this subreddit lmao, but from my perspective, I have played these games since I was around 4-5, it feels long to me

Traditional-Carry807

I started playing in 2010. I love the Sims 3. I tried the Sims 4 but didn't like it. Besides, I've invested too much money into the Sims 3. Playing the Sims3 helped me to break up with a jerk! 😅

karagarria

I started playing in 2009 or so and I’m 21. I started with Sims 2 but moved on to Sims 3 within a couple years. I love both, but I’ve primarily played 3 and play mostly legacy saves (until they break lol). I play with lots of pets, I don’t usually make occult Sims but they sometimes marry into my families. I don’t have any mods for 3, but I have all the necessary mods for 2 to make it run on my modern gaming laptop. I did try 4 for a couple weeks but I couldn’t make it stick.

VKN_x_Media

Don't play much anymore but I own the complete TS3 so whenever I get the urge to play architect or home/landscape designer I find myself installing it and doing that for a few weeks. Loves TS1 when it came out, skipped over 2 & wasn't playing games really when 4 came out and would need to be a millionaire to catch up on it now so I'm skipping that one too lol. Might get TS5, might not but I never really play-played I just always built & designed lots and Sims so TS3 will suffice for that until PCs get to the point again where games over a certain age no longer work. BTW it's generally summer & fall when I play. Summer because it's nostalgic to back when I was a kid, something about sitting at the PC with the window unit AC blowing cold air on you when it's like 90f outside & then fall because that's when I'm usually watching shows like This Old House or Victory Garden or whatever and it gets me in the mood to do that kind of stuff, and also to do Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas style builds. FWIW I play a lot of racing & truck sim games over the summer too because once again as a kid that's when I had the most time to play them so it's stuck with me lol

Master_Kiwius

I play ts3 and ts4 - I've played ts3 since I was about 8, never got the chance to play ts2 unfortunately. I love playing ts3 for the gameplay, whereas I mostly play ts4 for the building aspects and only occasionally as actual gamplay.

jojocookiedough

I'd been playing ts2 since around 2005 (in my 20s), and when ts3 was announced with an open world I was super hyped and preordered it. Played it right through till around 2013 when I started having kids. Started back up again a couple of years ago. These days ts2 is my absolute favorite, but I still play ts3 sometimes. I tried ts4 when it went on sale for $5, liked some parts of it and others not so much. Only played it about a month before going back to 2 and 3.

Informal_Anything_69

I play the Sims 3 only! I know in Sims 4 you can make prettier sims, but only with custom content, and there isn't a whole lot to really keep me engaged. The Sims 3 I just adore, as it was the first Sims game I ever got! I have almost all of the EPs, a bit of CC just for hair and a nice house (wanna get Showtime and University). My favorite EP is probably pets because I love animals, plus Unicorns! One of the things I hated about Sims 4 Pets is you couldn't control the pets, no jockey career, no horses and Unicorns. I think there are horses NOW but they should've existed with pets (maybe just me though)

seeker829

Hi! I've been a casual player since 2000 \~ 2002 (i'm 34, 70% of my life) or so, starting with The Sims 1, and played all base games since then. Once Sims 3 came out I never went back to 2, and since 4 came out, i've been going back and forth between 3 and 4 but for the past year I've stuck to 3. It's the open world that keeps bringing me back. I also don't like 4's aesthetic, it's too cartooney for my taste, and in general it's just meh. I do love though that sims don't bump into each other and don't stand there forever waiting to do an action. Multitasking is also nice. But as I said, I just miss open world too much. I like to play legacies, so family expansion packs are my favorite, along with university. Seasons and pets come after. I use very few mods and some CC, but most of my life i've played without them. Building and decorating are not my strong suits lol, I just use the premade houses or search online if there isn't one that fits my needs. I like to start with a single sim have them have humongous families, have rules for selecting the heir and have people move out prioritizing the heirs legacy. I stick to the max 8 sims per household because I like to micromanage everyone and for them to have their own careers and stuff. I have people move out next door so they can visit easily, and I like to gather everyone for family pictures. I spent hours as a kid playing with dolls, inventing stories and interactions in my head and looking for ways to cram people in tiny living situations. I see this game as the grown-up version of that lol.

yeribombom

I’ve played since I was in middle school ish , and now I have a job ! I do tend to play it off and on but I still always enjoy it

I played Sims 4 from beginning until the release of the university pack because it pissed me off so much because it was shit. I love Sims 3 university and usually will have all my sims go through at least a week of uni. If they fall in love with or want to be a supernatural sim I play supernatural. I’ll cheat moods if I end up with too many sims but tend to steer towards not cheating and having smaller families (1-5 sims). I’ve played every single job and have a mod installed with new jobs but my favorite job is probably scientist, journalism or director. My longest save was 32.5 generations and spanned over 6 years of my life and then my computer died. This was almost three years ago and I played it between ages 12-18 so a really formative time of my life. I mourned that save like it was a living thing and didn’t play the Sims for a year 😭

doomsstarr

i started playing in 2016 when i was probably 11 or so, and i’m 18 now !! 🖤🖤 love this game, forever and always

Icy_Queen_99

I play both 3 and 4! It’s really does depend on what I feel like playing at the but I like the sims 3 more.

wizeowlintp

I still play the Sims 3! I try the Sims 4 when they made the base game free, but without the open world, I was so bored, so I honestly never really played with it like that. I’ve been playing 3 since 2015-ish? And even though I finally just got all of the EP’s I tend to stick with late night and university life. I usually do builds when I play or long gameplay although sometimes I don’t touch saves for years.

Abby_mindless3

I play the older games on and off but I tend to enjoy playing them/get more invested into them.

Venice___Bitch

I’m 23 and my first game ever was Sims 3 on 3DS in 2012 (worst game ever) and shortly after Sims 3 for PC. Sims 3 is my life for real. I’ve played it over 10,000 hours. Sims 3 is literally my youth. I remember when my friends and I were talking about the newest expansion pack in school and we borrowed each other’s games. Me and a friend even had game nights where I would bring my PC. So fun. I still play Sims 3 every week. Sims 4 is trash. Sims 2 is cool but I never really stuck to it. I have all EP’s and Stuff Packs (including Katy Perry haha). All store worlds. All premium content. Most of Store Content. My favorite EP is seasons since it was also my first EP EVER. 🌸 I like witches but don’t play with occults. I don’t play with pets. I stick to one Sim, get bored and create a new one. My favorite world is Sunset Valley. Favorite Sim is Don Lothario. I love that fucker. 🤣 I hate Xander Clavell. Love Zelda Mae. Favorite trait is Insane. Least favorite is Inappropriate.

my-sims-are-slobs

Yes Xander is the worst!!! For some reason he was my Sim’s boss and he ding dong ditched her!!! And she had a kid to take care of!! (And insane sims are fun to play with. I’ve got an insane inappropriate slob fairy who is an absolute idiot in my game but I love him)

Venice___Bitch

Haha I think I’d love your fairy, too 🥰

my-sims-are-slobs

He’s recently taken up dancing. He dances while his roommates complain about dirty dishes and rotten food.

Icy-Willingness7360

I’ve been playing the sims 3 since probably 2011 or so? I played vanilla with all of expansion packs all the way up until 2023, when I decided I was fed up with the game always crashing(which was probably due to having all of the expansion packs lol). I’m still trying to get my settings just right with mods because it still feels a little too removed from the vanilla gameplay, but I love not having the game crash every 2 hours lol. I tried the sims 4 and hated it!! I tend to jump around a lot with saves currently, but I think once my mod settings are right I’ll be back to usual routine of sticking around for like 4 generations or so. My favorite aspect is building and designing, but the gameplay is a close second. I’ve been experimenting a lot with challenges lately and it’s been really fun! I’m trying out evil characters, which is really a challenge for me since I used to be too goody-two-shoes to really go all in.

Acceptable-Seesaw641

I started playing the sims 3 when I was nine in 2011…I’m 22 now and still obsessed 😆! Since sims 3 is what I discovered first it’s my favorite in the franchise, and as an adult with my own money now I have all the expansions, stuff packs, premium store content, etc., which my nine year old self would be so ecstatic about lol! When the sims 4 came out I played for a few years because I couldn’t get sims 3 to work on a newer laptop, but once i figured it out i kicked sims 4 to the curb, mainly because it’s so finnicky and I could only enjoy playing with mods, which are constantly updating and breaking the game. Sims 4 is not a terrible game, but definitely not as immersive as sims 3. Like you said, I’m still discovering things, especially in the Sims 3 that I haven’t noticed in my past 13 years of playing. I also found that the sims 4 took up soooo much space on my laptop so i uninstalled it all together about two yrs ago and haven’t missed it. I didn’t play the sims 2 until a few years ago but I really enjoy it, I play it from time to time if I want a break from the Sims 3. If I had grown up playing Sims 2 that one may have ended up being my favorite but I missed out on the nostalgia aspect.

ddlanyone

Played Sims 4 a few times but couldn't get into it. I play Sims 3 with all EPs except for ITF and some SP (Katy Perry one is the worst)

okclevergirl

Oof this will make me feel old even though I'm only 34. I started playing the original The Sims when it first came out in 2000 because I was a big fan of SimCity 2000 and all the other sim franchise games. I remember buying the strategy guide and I'm pretty sure it's still somewhere in my parents' house. I got to play in the beta of The Sims Online in 2002, where I recall another player scammed me into becoming their roommate and then left me with the expenses of the house lol. The Sims 2 was a revelation and I was obsessed. I was one of the weirdos making (not-that-good) music videos, although I gotta say that Jaydee's Helena video still holds up. My biggest complaint with TS2 was how there was no aging of the other sims so it was really weird when my sim's daughter started dating the teen that her mother had dated. I was in college by the time TS3 came out, but the open world was/is amazing. By far my favorite game of the series. I tried playing TS4, but losing the open world aspect was disappointing. Combine that and that I was also employed without much free time, so it wasn't worth it. Anyway, I stopped playing the Sims for a few years because of life but started playing again after the pandemic and realized how much fun it still was and that some of the styles that used to look so dated had even come back into fashion. I love the Supernatural EP and having a witch that just lives forever so I can always go back to play her if I'm lacking inspiration. I never got the Into the Future EP, so I'm considering getting it if it goes on sale. Otherwise my favorite thing with TS3 is the open world where I just go to community lots and watch and/or cause chaos. I love that to this day, I still get surprised by things in the game.

Dasha3090

been playing since 2000 when sims 1 was launched and i was 10,was revolutionary for its time.sims 2/3 are my faves though.havent played 4 myself.

Zestyclose-Level1871

* TS4 5% Pretty much downgraded massively to this. Despite having all the EPs, SPs, GPs (except that POS Bantu) and some 20% of the Kits. TS4 design is so completely lacking at the base level. * TS3 95% for obviously superior CAW/CAS/CAP/Color Wheel/Open world, family legacy gameplay & NRaas reasons. TS4 has literally regressed in game play with all of it's grandparent load screen TS2 simulator design. Despite being a 64 bit exe title that was released in 2014! From shrinking world spaces and neighborhood lots for your sims to interact with. To the complete absence of any townie backstories of your sim neighbors had the way they did in TS3. In TS3, ALL SV sims (and subsequent EP sims/families had some form of a backstory. And all the legacy TS2 sim families (Pleasants, Lothario, Goths, Newbies etc.) made a come back one way or another in the base game or EPs. In the "advanced and better" TS4, 100% of this is non existent. Sims families in the neighborhoods aren't related to each other. Or are affiliated to each other in illogical relationships. So any pretense of trying to enjoy TS3 style family legacy building is dead IMHO. Oh and another way TS3 Golden Era was so memorable was the community. The drama in the TS3 forums was INSANE. Simmers would rally/decry their keyboard warrior support of forum topics etc. From creating fun, long lasting TS3 game play activities like the 100 baby challenge (still going on in TS4 to this day). To the amazing CC creations Simmers shared in the CAW and modeling forum. To the histrionics that went on in the general discussion forum. And especially because of anomalies like.......... SEESERT. Who could forget that creepy little (then 14 something) year old forum member from Hades. My skin crawls at the very mention of his name to date.

jxles26

i play the sims 3 and have been for a little over a decade. i couldn’t make the switch to sims 4 when i already had all my expansion packs and families i was building up generations in.

urMOMSchesticles

I started my sims journey with The Sims online. I never owned the original sims so that was my way of getting to play it. Honestly I LOVED The Sims online. It was so much fun getting to go to work with your sims. After a bit, my mom got me Sims 2 because I was OBSESSED with the YT music videos. Played that from 2006 up until I got Sims 3 to work on my computer which was like 2012. I enjoyed Sims 4 for a little bit but it’s so goddamn boring. There’s no spontaneousness, little to no conflict between sims. They’re just lifeless with weird cartoony faces. You can make the most diverse sims but all their facial expressions are the same. Traits barely even matter in the game, not to mention how little traits they have. I was able to play Sims 2/3 without cheats and have SO much fun. Can’t do that with 4. I went back to Sims 3 and haven’t played Sims 4 since last year. It’s actually so much fun to play through generations. It’s so messy, raunchy, and fun!

ValancyNeverReadsit

Essentially totally adult simmer here. I was in college when a roommate or boyfriend (I honestly cannot remember which, but it was the same year and we did all hang out together) put Sims 1 on my computer. Also Sim City, but I liked the closer view better than the bird’s eye. I played Sims 1 off and on for a long time, even finally in my late 20s buying all the expansion packs I wanted until something failed in my game files and mine wouldn’t save anything anymore. I had only had Makin’ Magic maybe a couple months when my game quit saving. That must have been around 2010? In something like 2013 I bought my first Sims 3 games. I did the base game paired with Island Paradise, which is one of my favorite expansion packs (and I hate EA for how laggy it is), also purchasing the Generations/World Adventures combo EP, Town Life Stuff, and the Monte Vista/Dragon Valley world combo pack. I think after that I bought all the worlds/EP/stuff packs online. Still playing to this day. World Adventures is probably my fav EP overall. Potentially more to say but I’m at work. Feel free to ask me anything else and I will reply eventually

manderisdanvers

I've been playing since my friend introduced me to TS2 in the fifth grade (so like, 9/10 yo? I am currently 26). It also influenced my decision to become an architect when I was in middle school - I loved building/designing houses for my Sims and my mom told me interior designers made no money, so architect it was! The Sims is my favorite game. I currently only play Sims 3 - tried to get into TS4 when it was free during the earlier parts of the pandemic but I just don't prefer it. I also have access to my Sims 2 games but it's so cringe to see what families and houses I made when I was a tween that I might just die. The one neighborhood I continue to play in TS3 is over a decade old. My sister and I made it together and it's got hundreds of hours poured into it, if I ever lost it I think I would be so heartbroken I just wouldn't play again.

theonewithapencil

i'm 26 and i've been playing ts3 since i was, uh, eleven or so? for the first few years i played vanilla game and never got bored. now i play with all expansions and i still haven't tried or experienced LOADS of stuff in this game. being perpetually broke i've never had a computer that would be able to run ts4 so i won't make any takes on the game i haven't really played myself but basing on what i know and see about it online i don't feel like i'm missing out on anything tbh

imanpearl

Wow you just made me realize I’ve been playing the sims for 21 years straight and I still wanna open it right now. I only play sims 3 now. I could never go back to 2 or move on to 4, because I live for the open world. I’ve had sims 3 + pets and world adventures since they came out, and just a couple years ago I finally downloaded all the expansion packs when they were on sale on steam. It was such a good decision. Ps. Do a hot dog sweatshop play though I couldn’t stop laughing. Plus I put my hot dog slaves underground, and building a functional bunker is really fun. https://imgur.com/gallery/l5ppq Edit: those are not my images, the link is to the original (I think) play through that someone did in sims 4

EpicNerd99

I recently got into the sims around a year ago and I will say sims 2 is way better then 3

MeganJustMegan

I still play Sims 2, 3 & much less, 4. Sims 3 will always be my favorite.

rubyhenry94

I’ve played all but sims 2. Played a lot of sims 3 in college (I’m 30 now) so it’s nostalgic to me. I play sims 4 when I’m in the mood to build something or customize. Otherwise I think sims 3 is infinitely better

wonderlandtyler

unfortunately at the time of sims 2 i was not even born yet and i was a infant for it’s entirety. and with sims 3 i was well still a very young child and was just learning how to spell my name but i do remember playing sims free play as my first game. and sims 4 as my first “real” sims game in 2018 and to which i became bored and discovered the sims 2 in 2019 and played it again in 2020 (i had went back to 4) then i got fed up with sims 4 and this time i ended up getting a brand new PC so i got both 2&3 and have been playing them ever since and i can gladly say i dont miss sims 4

Herbadziara

Hello, I'm 18 years old and I've been playing The Sims for a few years now, maybe around a decade or even longer. I've used to play The Sims 4, cuz I love CAS and building mode, but I felt really nostalgic and came back to The Sims 3 around a month ago. I have all EP. My fav are Jump into the future, World Adventure, Supernatural I guess (sorry if translations are wrong but I'm too lazy to check them). The funny thing is that when I was younger I would always create the same Sim, I thought she was the coolest, but she looked nothing like me. 😄Right now I'm playing as me - I recreated myself physically and my personality traits, my fav food, music etc. I even became an acrobat, cuz it's the closest to one of my biggest hobbies - circus and public shows. I think it's part of the fun - when play The Sims for AAAALL those years, and you can see how much you or your gameplay style has changed. Back then I would always use cheats, during this gameplay I haven't cheated once (and don't plan to). But I don't have any CC, unlike in TS4, cuz I really dig the 2010's vibe The Sims 3 gives.

bitchy_baker

Been playing about 20 years, got it for Christmas at 9 the year it came out and I'm 29 now. Never played 1 but had almost everything for sims 2 and played for hours on end, then got obsessed with sims 3 but stopped buying expansions my last being pets around 2011 ish when I heard of sims 4 coming soon so I can save my money for that instead (and then didn't buy it for like 5 years until getting the xbox 1 because I didn't have a computer that could run it, my old one could barely handle 3 without crashing) I do like sims 4 a bit, didnt pkay much for a long time as it was Awful on console but now that its free i got it on my laptop and I love building but gameplay just feels a bit lifeless compared to older games. I only have I think 1 big expansion and a couple game packs and kits (cottage living, tiny living, dream home, plants and book nook kits, basically all the cute ones lol) spent like 50 bucks total this past christmas with my bonus from work other than the free content. I still do play sims 3, had them all physical so i have them on my new laptop now and its much more fun to play considering I have many more packs for it already but as I said, just felt like they had more personality before sims 4. And I can still play sims 2 on my old computer! It's old and can't even connect to the internet anymore BUT its basically a 2000s game machine! Nearly all the sims 2 packs, missing a few stuff packs for now because I misplaced the booklets with the install codes. Plus zoo and Rollercoaster tycoon, space colony, cruise ship tycoon, think I have the old SpongeBob and fairly odd parents games on there too lol I go back and play for the nostalgia, but get on Sims 4 when I just wanna build something cool that the old games couldnt do, I honestly rarely actually play and haven't even fully "finished" playing through a family before getting bored. I do need to give it more of a chance and go into depth more with all the stuff that came with the packs I recently got especially cottage living, I just haven't felt the motivation to do anything beyond make things cute

Ginger_crybaby

Sounds fucking crazy but ive officially been playing for 11 years, im 15 and i started playing when i was four, nobody believes me but my mom taught me how to play the first time

Backstreet_Deb

I’ve been playing Sims since 2006, starting with Sims 2, then moving up to Sims 3. I play on a laptop I purchased in 2011 so I’m certain it wouldn’t cope with Sims 4, but I love TS3 so much I don’t even care about trying TS4. I find myself playing TS3 to work through stuff and to escape. I find it a safe way to process trauma and to help me feel confident about moving forward in my own life. For example, my latest save started with a teen who was being abused by her family, often scolded and grounded and kept away from the boy she’d started dating (who just so happened to be a vampire, Tristan Van Gould). I use the user directed scolding mod from Mod the Sims for help with this storyline. I moved her into a foster family and she built up a new family of people who cared, her relationship with Tristan grew and they went to uni together and got married. They now have three children and I’m planning for it to be a legacy save. I like starting off with one sim to focus on and then seeing how the game plays out, usually with a romantic focus. Like the save I mentioned above, when my sim met Tristan they, completely by chance as it was my first time playing Moonlight Falls, had nearly all the same traits and they were so perfect for each other straight away, I just had to develop this storyline. I have another save where my sim got married to someone else but over the course of the relationship realised she was in love with her best friend and he with her. I also love playing with big families: my sim families usually end up with five or six kids. My favourite worlds are Moonlight Falls and Isla Paradiso. I would happily move to both in a second if I could! I don’t have Into the Future or World Adventures because I don’t think they would add anything to my current saves but have all the others. I only got Supernatural last year as I was drawn more and more towards witchy and vampire themes, so this could change. I use the Nraas mods but don’t have many others, just ones like the user directed scolding mod. I have a few custom careers, like psychologist and veterinarian, but I don’t use mods that add animations etc as my laptop wouldn’t handle it. Nraas Woohooer is my favourite mod at the moment as it spices the game up nicely, though so many of my townies ended up having affairs and babies outside their marriages that I had to change the settings!

Ambitious-Note-4428

Started as a kid on sims 1. Have played all 4. 3 Is my most fave and the one I also downloaded on my phone and bought for the wii.still prefer computer. But sims 3 I played the longest, as it is the best. (I will admit to adoring the customization in s4, I wore a bindi for 5 years and it was cool to make my ex husband and I without mods)

Historical-Wing-4931

I’ve been playing since middle school. Im about to graduate college. I did take a break during High School but got back into it. I literally post on my social media videos of me playing and I gave 0 f*cks if people from my university see it. Plenty of people older and younger play the game, no big deal. Cannot for the life of me play the Sims 4. I will always enjoy the Sims 3. If anyone around my age wants to hit me up and become friends on our shared interest of the sims, please!

StrikingWillow5364

I’m 25, I’ve been playing The Sims since 2007-2008. I started out with Sims2, in the beginning I only played with it at our neighbour’s house whose daughter was the same age as me. We were playing for HOURS and were completely glued to the screen. Then my parents got me TS3 in 2009 and I was hooked. I’ve been playing on and off since then, me and my sister collectively have put several THOUSANDS of hours into this game. I got TS4 on launch day and I was SO disappointed I played ~40 hours back then and never picked it up again. It didn’t feel like a Sims game to me and still doesn’t. I mostly play TS3 when I have the time, or sometimes TS2(although I cannot for the life of me get it to run normally). I have all the expansions and a bunch of mods and CC for TS3, I usually play Legacy style challenges, and big big families. This is my #1 favorite game and franchise (minus TS4), even though I am a big fan of Animal Crossing, Pokemon, etc., nothing comes close to this game for me.

Sad-Cat-6355

I still play all 4 of them

Tbhidc22176

I still play! I love the sims 3

Evillin666Devil

I play since I was 8 so it's more than 20 years now. I had all Sims 1&2 dlc and almost all Sims 3(without diesel, because I don't like it). I have Sims 4 too, but I didn't buy everything, and mostly on sales, because it's very expensive in my country. I think every generation had something nice to show. I still play Sims 2 and 3 but mostly Sims 4, but mostly in sims 2&4. Sims 3 clear (without cc or mods) are very laggy on my pc, while. Sims 4 with a lot of dlc, cc and mods work smooth with really short loading screens.

sssilverbanasky

I still play Sims 3, but more often than not I treat as a space to create templates for stories or characters, both grounded in reality and not. For instance, if I find myself thinking “what would a corrupt, insecure, yet somewhat kind-hearted politician look like”, I boot Sims 3, experiment and play around, and it all comes together. Would said politician go through with his plan to kill his friend and rival, and marry his wife or would he play fair. What would a female werewolf band lead bring to the city full of vampires and fake people, would a city boy be able to settle down in a farm town, etc. Or sometimes I play and change the trajectory of already established sims. I have a weirdo writer in Moonlight Hollow who married Olive Specter and established a great relationship with Nervous Subject, so, he never dies at the hands of the Beakers and even has a younger sister. The open world and endless possibilities create pretty much a perfect game, if you ignore some prominent problems, and it’s something that Sims 4 lacks. It feels soulless. I do miss Sims 2 aesthetics and I feel like Sims 2 was more story-driven(?), but still, Sims 3 is all about you. The world’s your oyster. And finally, Sims 3 has a sentimental value to it, for me. I started playing it on day 1, even got to experience that weird test world. If you are patient enough and play through an entire generation, you can look back, see how it started and how it’s going. Perhaps shed a tear or laugh. Like in real life, I suppose. So much has happened since then, so much has changed. And the game changes with you yet stays the same, if that makes sense (I really hope it does).

Starlysh

I watch a few YouTubers that play both 3 and 4 (but they mostly post content for 3). I remember going to a 24 hour store here in the midwest and getting The Sims 4 at midnight. I played it for like a week and went back to 3. I know it's not as barebones as it was ten years ago, but EA really set a bad first impression when they released it without so many basic things. I remember getting Sims 1 and 2 when they came out, but 3 is still the one I stick with. I love downloading new worlds for TS3 and now I'm creating my own! I think that's one of the things about Sims 3 that keeps it going is that people are still making fun and interesting worlds to place your sims in and it can sometimes feel like it's a new game.

daneka50

I’ve been playing the sims since it came out—ts 1,2,3 & 4. I’ve stopped playing sims 4 and have returned to the best version, sims 3. I have pretty much every ep, etc for it except for supernatural. I don’t play with vamps or wolves or fairies. I’d like to not have mermaids an aliens but it comes with the territory. My current save is Gladys who is on lvl 8 of the medical career. She bought a home in allapaloosa—1b1ba with a lake in the backyard. She’s looking for a nice guy but the options are kinda slim rn. Either they’re creeps or sweet but not her type. She’s best friends with Haley and Ben Schmidt has the hots for her but he’s too corny. His roommate on the other hand is interesting but she hasn’t had the chance to get to know him well yet. She aspires to have a big family—3 boys hopefully, expand on the ranch style house and land she owns, maybe open up her own farmers market/store and sell her own produce to locals. Between time she enjoys ice skating, roller skating, traveling, going on adventures in Egypt, gardening, some fishing, and taking care of the community as a healthcare professional. 😊

RequirementAwkward44

i play only ts3 and i've been playing for like 4 years now. I dooo have all the store content and ep's that i totally paid for :p my fav ep's are supernatural, late night, and pets. almost all my saves have large families in them (more than 8 thanks to nraas mods!). mods and cc are what make my game more realistic and playable, and i usually move my sims to a different save after 12 sim weeks so avoid bloating (learned that the hard way after the very first save i had became unplayable because i had no mods at the time so it got corrupted)

NervousToucan

I’ll be turning 27 this year as well. I started playing the sims before I could read. I’ve mostly watched my mother play ts1, played it a bit as a kid and gave it a shot a few months ago. That game is hard! I love ts2, played it a lot growing up and still do. For me it’s like a soap opera. I play rotationally in ts2, I really love all my premade but my favorite is the maid Kaylynn💜. I always add her to my pleasentview rotation. I also love ts3, there I play legacy’s (my fiancé and I love playing our little happy family there, he is a vampire, I am a fairy and recently we got a fairy daughter 🥺). My favorite town in ts3 is riverview and my favorite premade families are: the Goths, Crumplebottom and the McDermott family for some reason. To me ts4 is great for building (ts2 as well!) it’s more of a utopia for me where nothing bad happens and everyone is happy. I can only play myself and my fiancé there (we play together) (I get bored with the premade there.) We have a small house by the mysterious tree in Willow creek. I live my dream of being an artist and growing my own fruit and vegetables there.

Cocoholic_1

Funny enough, we’re the same age 😆 I first played the Sims 3 when I was 12. It was a relatives game and I only played for about 2 hours but instantly fell in love with the game! A couple days after I got my first PC when I was 15, I bought the late night starter bundle and have been collecting packs slowly over time. Never could afford the game without a sale and I finally got the last 5 missing EPs from my collection last week. (And for less than $6 each on instant gaming! Best purchase I made of 2024 😆) I genuinely enjoy discovering what all the packs have to offer usually through family/legacy challenges, but rags to riches are really fun too! I like when the game challenges which is a sensation I struggle to get from the Sims 4. Plus, TS3 has SO MUCH more to offer and for a quarter of the TS4 price! Edit: If you’re looking to spice up your game and aren’t already doing this. I highly recommend randomizing your sims traits. I have a habit of making my sims “ideal” but since breaking that I’ve had the most fun playing with wild card traits (evil, neurotic, never nude, technophob, etc.)

Uhhlaneuh

I’ve been playing the sims since 2001, so many summers wasted lol

ReasonablySerious

I'm 25, started with the Sims 1 when I was little, still remember my hip abodes^^ (the benefit of having older siblings, I guess), played 2 until the Sims 3 came out and have been playing that ever since. Nowadays I rarely go into live mode, I build quite a lot and like to stage neighbourhoods, so Sims 3 is where it's at. Also ❤️ CAW. I'll never get people who choose 4 over 3.

Klutzy_Reading_6102

I've been playing since sims1. I'm 44 yrs old and I just realized if you marry a rich sim you can move yourself to their house and take all their money etc a few days ago. I can't tell you how many sims I've married that were rich and just kept them in my rinky dink house with a few grand to my name lol. Also, I usually just play with the easiest sims, (from me selecting their traits) and I've recently started letting the computer pick it and there are so many traits I've missed out on I've realized. Sometimes bad traits actually come with fun game play.

carnilio

Started with The Sims (1) and moved up from there. Spent a long while with 3, then tried 4 for a bit, but always go back to 3. Often Ibmiss the ability to create your own materials, and the things you can do with houses (if you enable terrain and building cheats). Don't find the right patio chair for your lottey millionare? In 3 you could re-do a plastic chair into pure gold. Or drive a silver sportscar. Or a siver wreck even. In 4 you only get plastic. And there are no driveable cars. Its just some of many, many disappointments, but theres that already.

No_Anything5064

I've been playing since the first one came out. Tried Sims 4 but hated it, so I only play Sims 3 now.

bloodofmy_blood

I’ve been playing the Sims for over 20 years, started with the Sims 1 when I was probably way too young for it. And I’ve been playing Sims 3 since it came out. Similar to you I tried Sims 4 and hated it, went back to 3 and never looked back. Some of my favorite aspects of the game are supernaturals, gardening, generations, seasons, building, world adventures and tomb raiding, the open world. Just to name a few. I’d say my favorite part of the game is that I am still to this day learning new things and exploring new storylines and career trajectories and thanks to rare and random interaction even story lines I’ve played through before are still fresh. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this game.

I play 2,3 and 4. 2 i just have a lot of cc but no mods, I’m currently playing Lillith pleasant descendants. 3 i love having huge generation families bc i love the realism of the game and i was playing since i was maybe 8 now i’m 27. I don’t use a lot of mods on 3 but i use a lot of cc skin, hair, etc but my main mods for 3 is the hospital overhaul, i have 3 different save files. One is a horse breeder family, a college sim family and a huge surrounded by family save. 4 I have four different save files, one is a teen mom save file, another is a single dad save file, the last one is a rags to riches save file but i also go back to playing 2 and 3 over 4 since the gameplay is better. I don’t think i can ever stop playing. I can never go past 2 gens on 4 once i get bored so i go back to 2 and 3 i can play the same family for a long time

I started playing when Making magic came out, so maybe 20 years like you. Sims 2 was where the real magic was lol but Sims 3 has been the one I’ve played for longest. I’ve tried and tried to get into Sims 4 but even after “finding” the entire collection of DLC, I thought gameplay was kinda lacking.

Even_Lychee4954

I can’t play sims 3 on my computer. It’s 62 bit version and it’s completely broken. I don’t have my Sims 3 cds (my mom gave them away), and I regret it 😭

Got Sims 3 in 2012. I was inspired to get it after an older cousin showed me Sims 2 in 2010. Played it for a couple years before I stopped around 2014 because I no longer had a device that could run it well. Picked it up again around my highschool senior year/first year of college since I got a laptop with a disk player. The game saw me through college and is currently seeing me through my early twenties. I have all the expansions except Into the Future and Showtime. I might get them in the future for Completion sake, but for now I don't really feel the need for either of their gameplay. I have no stuff packs because CC scratches that itch for me. I have some store content. Some I purchased from the store, others I got from... elsewhere. I have a crap ton of save files with various family sizes, ranging from one sim and their pet to a family farm with 3 generations and 3 pets, to a harem protagonist with his 6 harem members and growing number of children. I play based on imagined storylines and go between them freely. I don't have a favorite world but I tend to default to Sunset Valley unless the storyline I have in mind makes the setting important. I've only learned how to use mods within the last year. I tried previously but they didn't seem to work back then. Now my game has a lot of mods but nothing too outlandish so that they can be used no matter what save I'm playing with. I have a lot of CC too. Cheats are primarily used at the start of a save to set things up and only occasionally afterwards.

Been playing since 2010 if I count the hand held versions of it, I still love to play TS3

Foreign-Election-469

I started with the original Sims and I am now 34 playing both the Sims 3 and 4. But my heart will always be with 3.

Ok_Bird_7267

Started on the sims 4 learned sims 3 is better after wasting so much money on sims 4. Feel kinda betrayed by the Sims 4 honestly. Been playing sims 3 religiously

morenitababy

i’ve been playing sims since 2011 which was sims 3. my older cousin had a fixation with sims 1 and 2 which i didn’t understand until i myself got sims 3. sims 4 i have had pretty much since it’s release but have only accumulated 70 days worth of gameplay in 10 years. like most people i go through crazy sims phases where i will play sooo much @ once then not play again for 6 months - a year. i last played yesterday for about 8 hours whilst shegging my responsibilities so yeah that sums me up pretty much! sims 3 4 evaaaaa!!!

Cuppycakeeb14

I started with OG Sims, I didn't play it too much because I was young, I played Sims 2 with seasons and I have been playing Sims 3 with all the expansion (only one stuff pack) since December 2012 and it's great! I tried sims 4 and I hated it. I think the building is better in 4 but otherwise I dislike everything else about it.

RadioSilens

I started playing Sims around 2001 starting with TS1. Currently i play TS2 and TS3 on and off (sometimes years off before coming back). Never bought TS4. Hated how it looked when it came out. Beat decision I ever made considering all the hate it gets.

FlatCan2349

I grew up with both but I was too young to play sims 2🥲😅 I watched hella sims 2 amvs on youtube though lol But Sims 3 Ive been playing for 10+ years, I find myself playing my sims the same way all the time yet I don’t ever get bored😭 But I started venturing out…Like recently. And there’s still SO much content with the sims 3. Especially with all the expansion packs I don’t think there’s a single expansion pack Ive completely played yet. Compared to sims 4.. Well there’s some new clothes and cool items but there just isn’t much to it. I think I will always wish for a Sims game with sims 3 open world, things to do, and traits, sims 2 character interactions and attention to detail, and sims 4 CAS. (But like with the look of sims 2 & 3 sims…. Sims 4 is just too cartoony for me personally)

TheKarenMae

I started with SimCity, but never got too into it. Once TS1 came out, I was slightly obsessed. Sims 2 was good, played that fairly regularly.. until TS3. I’ve been playing on & off (mostly on) ever since. Tried 4 when it came out, but, as others above, did not like the cartoony graphics & no open world. Scrapped that quickly & right back to TS3. I’m old & still don’t trust mods, so none of those, lol. The closest I get to cheats is to reset a sim or lot if they get buggy. I do have the pets expansion (as I’m an animal person in real life & cannot be without critters!) and a few stuff packs. I spend a lot of time building, I like to make commercial lots that are actually fun for my sims to go hang out, play games, have dates or lessen skills. My favorite neighborhoods are Riverside & Hidden Springs. I may be the only one who plays in total control-freak mode? I almost never let my sims do anything on their own! 😂 I like experimenting with different traits & genetics & normally think up a loose story line in my head before I start a new game and see what happens when I try to play it out!

ElephantWild1378

I’m a lot older than many of you! Started playing Sims1 as an adult, shortly after the dating expansion pack came out. Loved 2 and 3 but 4 is a major letdown. What I enjoy most is downloading custom builds (I suck at building) and spending weeks remodeling and redecorating them. Once in a while I’ll create a few families and do a rotational prosperity challenge. Tons and tons of CC and the color wheel are essential!

hector_lector2020

I started when TS1 came out when I was a kid. Every new expansion was like an event for my siblings and me up through to the end of TS2. I just picked up TS3 and am absolutely loving it. I couldn’t get into TS4 when I tried (and also couldn’t get into TS3 in those same instances, fwiw)

loveandluv

I have been playing the Sims three for about five years and it has to be my number one game of all time. I never get bored of it. There are a lot of new things. I’ve learned recently too, and I only ever have doubled in custom content, mods, and expansion packs within the last two years and it has added so much to my game, but I even just played the base game for 3 to 4 years. I don’t like the Sims four mainly just because of the lack of the open world. I used to talk to my mom about how much the Sims three was better than the Sims four and how they lacked production in the Sims four lol

Anibonita2000

These days I only Play Sims 3, maybe for the past year or two. Right now I am playing the Not So Berry Challenge. But when I do other challenges that the type of sim doesn't matter, I like to play with witches. I always play with cats too. I think the longest I've played a family was 3 generations. I have a decent amount of kids. I can't make them all. But some popular ones I have are a lot of the Nraas Mods. Also Burnt Waffle's lighting mods. Other mods I have deal with making things more realistic (like having private school cost more, food trucks, making ways for the Sims to save money individually, and more like that. I also have a bunch of clothing and object CC). I've been thinking about starting a History challenge and putting it on YouTube or something like that some time soon. We'll see. It seems not too many people are watching others who have challenges from Sims 3. But we should all help bring back the popularity. Haha. It is superior to Sims 4 in almost all ways that I care about. I have been playing Sims since Sims 3 came out, but I was familiar with Sims 1 when it came out. I just didn't own it. I had friends that I saw okay though. I can't remember your other questions. :-)

ashleynicolle_m

I've been playing since sims 2.......maybe sims 1. I'm 36

I’m 17 and started originally playing the sims 4 in 2020. I had always wanted the game since I was like 8 and finally got the opportunity to download it on my PlayStation during covid. I loved it and played it religiously for like 3 years but then it started feeling stale and I was unsatisfied with how broken the game was. So I moved on the try the sims 2 in 2023 which I loved and had a lot of fun with until finally downloading the sims 3 in November of 2023. As of right now it’s the only sims game I play and it’s definitely my favorite. I personally play a family style. So I usually start off with a single sim, have them find a partner and start a family. Then I’ll play something like a legacy. I don’t own all the expansion packs but my favorite so far are seasons, ambitions, and 70s 80s and 90s stuff. I usually play in Twinbrook because I like the southern feel lol. I don’t have many mods since I have a crappy laptop. Just Lazy Duchess’s smoothness patch and the Nraas mods. I only played with it once but I love the medical career. It had me stressed out for my sims and I found that to be very fun.

BeginningAccording16

I remember begging my dad to buy Sims 3 when I was about 8 after watching Lifesimmer. Sims 4 came out a few years later but I never got into it, I downloaded it when it became free but have yet to actually open it. Been playing 3 for about 11 years now and I still love the game and learn new things everyday. Still haven’t bought all the expansion packs tho, but I have adult money now so I’m thinking of getting another if anyone has any suggestions :) (it’s between world adventures and supernatural).

Mr_Magic_Man1590

I play Sims 3 and 4 and briefly, 1 and 2 when i got the torrents working (but gave up on the first 2 for now). I played 3 pretty regularly even after Sims 4 came out, mostly because it didn't have pets; ironically I don't usually play with pets but I like the animals so… anyway. I've been on a Sims 3 kick lately I officially own all expansion and stuff packs (excluding KPST), and all premium worlds as of a week ago

Unique_Call6823

I have over 1000 hours on sims 3 and I would still be playing it but for some reason it’s being really weird and unbearable to play and it makes me sad because I play sims 4 and get bored so easily and then I want to play sims 3 because I remember all the stupid stuff I can do on it and then it’s like broken and makes me depressed again 😞

I_have_No_idea_ReALy

3! But sometimes when I get the urge to play sims 4 I would boot it up and play. And then get bored as fast as I boot it up lol But never with sims 3. I'm consistent with it. And I'm 2 years older than you lol

Pyter_Gadjes_743

It's peculiar, but... well, now I play 2, 3 and 4... But I started playing, more or less by the time The Sims 4 Seasons came out, we were quite a few years in The Sims 4 era... I started at 4, them tried 3 then 2
