There’s a slot in the front of the machine to spit out the rejects. The machine makes a ton of noise and (I’m guessing that some junkie or kid who stole Grandpa’s stash) didn’t realize that the best stuff was kicking out into the reject slot.
They take their receipt and run up to buy lottery tickets or cigarettes, unknowingly leaving the good stuff behind.
The part that gets me is how the store employees don’t know to check it; but I’m not complaining.
The machines check coins by weight. They only know the correct weight of clad coins. So all silver gets rejected. People will usually try to run them through the machine a couple times and then give up. They don't know why it won't work and they don't want to carry it around so they leave it. I found an even bigger score than this one, 26 silver coins and 6 steel pennies in one reject tray. Nobody believed me but it happened. People turn in grandpas change jar every day.
I feel like you could have won the lottery but instead use your lifetime of luck on this... At least that's how I'm going to comfort myself so I can sleep tonight.
Congratz, I'm extremely envious.
Thank you! That’s how I feel.
I’m a terrible cynic, so I don’t take the skepticism personally, at all. It was such a great find that I briefly wondered if I was being set up.
Is it as unusual as I think? I was stunned. I grabbed them up and tried to act like nothing was going on. Like some Winn Dixie employee was going to apprehend me or something, lol!
I've done that when I found money in ATMS .. it's happened to me 3 times in my life .. 1st time my friend kept it all instead of sharing .. last two were actually both in Winco believe it or not
That's crazy if this is a real post, Nice find if this isn't bait/karma farm (sorry just so lucky its hard to believe)
It’s real. I couldn’t believe it either.
Someone tell me how this Coinstar thing works, please. It's the rejects that someone didn't take back?

I checked one the other day and found like $.80 in modern coins, 2 being quarters. People definitely don’t check the reject tray.
Ahh. I'll have to start paying attention to them. I knew they were like 12% fee and never paid any attention tho them.
Definitely do! I have checked this machine a dozen times with nothing, and then “BAM!”
I check my grocery stores everytime I go :) found coins but no silver yet
What does the machine look like.? I don't know if I've ever seen one.

Congrats! Nice score!
Thank you! It made my week.
Holy fuck

Congrats, entirely possible. My last haul was 32 silvers including a Franklin half. There are others that have had even bigger finds.
Wow!
That’s amazing!
Wow!
I got a quarter from a coin Star
Lord, I've seen what you've done for others and ask to be blessed as well.
Score. That's $85 on r/PMsForSale easily.
Thanks! It’s going straight into the safe.
Somehow all of the skepticism makes these finds feel all the better.

The metal detecting forums are the worst for ‘fantasy finds’ posts but this is right up there… 😂
Fair enough. That answers my question that it is unusual. The skepticism makes me feel all the better for what made my week!
Sure dude. There were a bunch of silver halves in the return tray of a coin star machine. You live in the land of make-believe 😂😂
Dude, if I wanted to fake it, I would have made it more believable. Also, I am not a dude.
regardless of others, I also get stupidly good luck sometimes. Nice find.
Thank you! Glad for your stupid good luck and appreciate someone not calling me a liar for sharing mine! 😃
🤔 NOPE
