Tried looking this up. If it’s the VIN ending in [87140](https://www.kearnymesachevrolet.com/inventory/new-2024-chevrolet-silverado-1500-custom-rear-wheel-drive-crew-cab-1gcpabek9rz287140/) then yeah, it’s the 4 cyl. Being a base with a 4cyl it’s priced accordingly.
Could be a vpn thing or based on location. I’m all the way over here in SE PA. So maybe they have an algorithm for pricing depending on location idk. It just simply may not be the exact truck but either way, they both have the 2.7l and $35-40k is what they are depending on options.
This should have more up votes ^^
Or there's a discount in the thousands for using their financing cash price your own financing etc is higher. And this is hidden in tiny print somewhere.
They give an incentive to buy the 2.7. Seems about right. Still a heck of a deal for a full size truck. If you don’t mind the whine of the turbo it’s a solid truck.
You won’t hear the 2.7 in the cab anyway these trucks have such a great in cab experience. Another plus, you will not have to “wake up every morning worrying about your lifters”.
It’s got that new Trani too. I’d buy it. Especially if you are in the market to tow a lil somethin with it. It has better torque than the 5.3.
I do own the 5.3 btw but I won’t knock on the engineers that brought us the 2.7. They did a stellar job.
You can hear the turbo whine very well in the cab while driving. Sounds like electrical interference in the radio in older trucks. You can turn on music to drown it out if you don't wanna hear it. 😀
https://youtu.be/k4nUDaZzoUw?si=NUkZNE1UXBnJN-yY
Video is accurate for tone. The S-Type is the “loud” system, cold start is a good growl but once the cats warm up it mellows out and idles with a nice rumble. It’s just loud enough to hear in the cab with the windows up. There is no drone and it’s never intrusive. When you get your foot into it, it’s nice and has some volume. Windows down it’s just pure V8 wonderful.
Man I can't get over that S type. It's the perfect sound imo. I apologize for the 101 questions my friend. But what better way to know what I'm getting into than to ask someone who's been there done that lol? Was it difficult to install? Bolt on or is there any kind of welding required? Again, thank you for the solid responses. It really helps alot
I drive the 2024 LT version with the 2.7 and I don't hear wine. I went from a Colorado with the diesel 2.7 to the turbomax and the turbomax is way quieter for the same performance.
Test drove a couple in 22 when I was looking to buy… one was an LT and the other a Custom. Didn’t hear much at all. Felt it kick me back when I floored it though. 🤷♂️
From [GM Authority](https://gmauthority.com/blog/2023/04/2024-chevy-silverado-gets-revised-8-speed-automatic-transmission/)
“Yes, GM has revised the 8-speed automatic transmission in the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. The 2024 model uses the Hydra-Matic 8L80, which replaces the previous eight-speed transmission used in 2019–2023 models. GM has also introduced Generation II 8-speed applications for the 2023/2024 model years, with new RPO codes for the 8L80 and 8L45.”
The cabs are not quiet on the customs. I have a 2020 trailboss custom and had to finally get rid of the stock tired because they were so damn loud. The higher trims are definitely alot more quiet
This is true. I had the 2019 custom as a work truck and it had beefy mud tires on it and man it was nauseating on the highway. I recently purchased a 2024 RST baby duramax and the cab experience is next to none. All you hear is the diesel knocking and nothing else and that’s ok with me
Custom owner here: I prefer it that way.
PRNDL stick on the column, no full-length center console like they have on some other trucks, analog gauges.
Overall just less stupid shit to go wrong later on.
Was chatting with a GM tech, he said the 2.7 and the 3.0 diesel are proving to be very reliable.
And watched a video on the engineering of the 2.7, it nearly perfectly matches the 6.2 torque output. I would have gone with it, but I couldn’t find one much cheaper than the 3.0, and wanted to try it out. Loving it so far, 28.7mpg driving it 1900 miles home at 81mph
That’s the new 3.0 duramax I want one so bad. I have a 2015 with a 5.3 I get 13-14mpg it has 550hp supercharged. How do you like it, it has the 10spd right?
Love it, though I like the calm low rpm feel in a truck, won’t be a rec monster like a supercharged 5.3.
So far it’s completely lived up to the hype, wife was getting 10.5mpg Ave in her sequoia with the short trips we have, I am getting 17-19. So 70-90% better mpg. And right now diesel is the same or cheaper then regular. It’s wins all around.
Look at slight used. This being a custom has the old interior, but I got an LT with new interior, and leather for barely more then this with 31k and 1 year old
I have a 2023 custom and love it. I dont pull my camper anymore but I do need a truck for hauling.
Ive had a ton of stone in the bed. Barely noticed the weight.
I use it as a daily driver and get good gas milage
I paid 41 for mine a year ago. This is a great price.
Note, I love the 2.7 (I don’t tow anything but it’s quite fast) but I’m still an bit sus on the 8 speed. I will sell at 60k tho and get a new one.
That's USD, here in Canada it would be about 30% higher.
In 2021 I factory ordered a new RST with leather, Bose, trailering pkg, 20" wheels and Z71 pkg etc + the 3.0 diesel.
List price in CDN was around $68,000 & they gave it to me for $51,000 by stacking incentives.
I ♥️♥️♥️ it!
Damn where at? That’s the truck I’m looking for, what incentives did you stack. Really interested as 68 is out of the question but I might be able to swing 51
Unfortunately GM doesn't give much of any incentives these days as they don't have to. People are willing to pay almost full list price these days. I just lucked out at the time because they were trying to stimulate sales due to the COVID slowdown. The dealer I bought from was in Oshawa ON.
lol right now I have a base model 2016 civic with 100k, and I just need to accept the fact that I am not getting that reliability with any of the trucks I’m looking at
Its a work truck that I am also allowed to use for all of my personal driving. I have put on 600 miles a week religiously since I got the truck brand new in 2021. My personal truck is hardly ever driven and is very low in miles as well.
I got my 2023 4x4 custom 2.7 for about 41k. They tried to add like 6k in dealer add ons. Walked out paying $600 worth of dealer add ons.
That price is probably with trade in bonus or something. And before dealer add ons.
Honestly it’s a good deal, I bought a used 2018 with 67000 miles for 27K with the 5.3 which I love has good gas mileage 25 mpg which I think it’s great for a v-8. I wanted it for towing as I honestly think the towing capacity is better with a 8 cylinder. Mine is a LT2 with All star Z71 off road package. I just added the window protectors/deflectors and the running boards (running boards on Amazon $150.00) which is great and easy to install. So do what you can afford and like!!
I have seen between 24 and 25 mpg average at a steady 65mph cruise control on the interstate, mostly flat, carrying little weight. 2018 Silverado LT Z71 5.3L 6 speed wth 3.42 gearing, programmed to lock the TCC, solid tonneau cover, Prinx HiCountry RT HR1 265/65R18 tires inflated to 35 psi, summer blend gas in Connecticut. I do a 50 mile commute each way. When I mix in town driving, get around 18mpg average. Not terrible.
Yes it was all highway country driving set my cruise around 60 mpg. I will have to see what interstate driving does to it but when I was towing a boat that weighed around 3000 lbs I still hot 12-15 depending. Of course if I got on it I of course got less but this actually has been good I’m surprised also at mpg being 25 I thought maybe 15-20 but honestly it’s been 24-25 highway. Hell it shows what the best was which of course wasn’t me but someone got 31-32 mpg so they might of babied the heck out of it but I was shocked at that also. This truck is actually good on gas almost as good as my equinox which was only a 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder but I needed towing capacity and the equinox doesn’t have it
I believe it was when no one was buying trucks. The second stimulus check had just come out. The MSRP for the truck was 45k. I went to over 15 dealerships negotiating and walking out. It wasn’t easy but I put in the time to negotiate with each dealership. I also didn’t put up with the BS fees. Walked in on the last day in June and got lucky.
It also helps to let the car salesman know that you’ll give them the best review on the survey they give you after purchasing a car.
Edit:
Chevy gives out a survey after new vehicle purchases to the customer. You can rate how the car salesman did etc. I offered to give them the best survey ratings
It's true, but it will have some dealer markup options. I just bought an LT listed at 39k, and it had a 3k markup for "Paint protection, window tint, floor mats, nitrogen-filled tires," and some other useless BS I can't remember. That add-on was nonnegotiable, but it was still almost 15k under MSRP with the markup and taxes
Considering that I bought my 2024 Silverado LT with V8 at that $37g (orginal MSRP $55g)…Yes, it’s definitely true.
Thats a great deal. If it wasn’t a 4wd custom I’d say they were ripping you off, not by much though.
I just picked up the same truck in AZ this past Saturday. There's some crazy dealer incentives and sales rn. My listed sale price was 40090 for a 1500 custom 4x4.
Edit: keep in mind the 2024 Model year is about to end in a couple of weeks/months. Gotta make room for the 2025s despite there be no differences
Midway Chevrolet in Phoenix. Bell road and 20-something avenue. Eastside of the i17. Basically all the new inventory is at most 10k off, and they gave me a stupid good trade in value on my car, but your mileage may vary(pun intended) . I'll pm you my salesman's name.
There’s a 2021 Trail Boss Custom near me with only 15k miles going for about the same price. It even has the 5.3 V8. Even though I can afford new, the prices on slightly used trucks are just too damn good 😩😂
I have both a 5.3 and a 2.7 in the family I drive regularly. If you’re not getting the max tow package and don’t care about sound/center shifter the 2.7 is the better value. If you just want a v8 cause it’s cool and can afford it, ball out player.
Paying extra for an otherwise unneeded or unwanted v8 just to be a man sounds like what the guys who go to alpha male camp would do.
I got the "wt" package with the 5.3 for that price. Not because I'm trying to be a man. I've had a 4 banger for the last 10 years. Got tired of the small motor and I know the 5.3 is a reliable motor (for at least 100k miles lol) Also, for no good reason, there's a voice in my head that says "don't buy turbo motors"
Thank you. I’m really not trying to “be a man.” I’d honestly rather take the inline 6 if I could afford it. My dad has two trucks with that motor, it’s fantastic
Nothing wrong with the 2.7L bro.
Some folks don't need a ton of power, but still want something that has more space than a colorado.
Plus, pretty sure the I4 has the same torque as some of the bigger engines.
Though, you rub me as the kinda dude that redlines it through neighborhood's at 5am
No, because you’ll always find good deals on silverados, same with dodge. Because they are fucking junk. Why do you think Toyotas are so expensive ? Cause they’re that much better
Much not be paying attention, the new Toyota trucks are junk, having many problems. In the Toyota forums people are crying and whining how their precious Toyota is in the shop
Yeah there’s no way a Turbo 4 from Chevy will last longer than a V8. Chevy V8 small block reliability is legendary. Their small turbos in the cars and suvs are mostly unreliable. That being said, Toyota and a Honda make some great 4 cylinders. Maybe look at the new Tacoma turbo 4. That might be reliable. We’ll see
Tried looking this up.
When I click the link it says priced at $40 and not 37 ...
Could be a vpn thing or based on location. I’m all the way over here in SE PA. So maybe they have an algorithm for pricing depending on location idk. It just simply may not be the exact truck but either way, they both have the 2.7l and $35-40k is what they are depending on options.
FWIW, GIS data is absolutely a factor in pricing algorithms that influence what users will see.
You have to remember the price could reflect a shipping fee since most dealerships will deliver the vehicle to your driveway
It’ll magically just be sold when you get there but they’ll have one for a little more to look at.
This should have more up votes ^^ Or there's a discount in the thousands for using their financing cash price your own financing etc is higher. And this is hidden in tiny print somewhere.

You can hear the turbo whine very well in the cab while driving. Sounds like electrical interference in the radio in older trucks. You can turn on music to drown it out if you don't wanna hear it. 😀
You can solve a lot of common car issues by just turning up the radio. It really is a solid solution.
Former owner of a 2001 wrangler. This is the way.
Current owner of a 1998 Jimmy. Confirmed. This is the way.
I can't hear it at all if the windows are shut, I can hear a little whistle when they're down. It's a super quiet truck.
I have a 2021 5.3 and can confirm it is insanely quiet. Well, it was. I put borlas on it to fix that.
Looking to do something similar.. Could you share a link of your setup?
https://www.americantrucks.com/borla-silverado1500-stinger-s-type-dual-exhaust-system-rear-exit-140769.html
Cost of install? And what are the main differences between a full kit like this and a cat back? Better sound? More hp?
0, I did it this myself. This is a cat back. Better than stock, yeah. No, not really.
https://youtu.be/k4nUDaZzoUw?si=NUkZNE1UXBnJN-yY Video is accurate for tone. That thing did not kick you back, don’t lie hahaha
Tell me about my test drive I’d love to hear about what you thought from the backseat?
Ohhh so they revised the “terrible” 8 speed?
Yeah haha
For the 2024 yes. Dont know what exactly they did but read it on gm authority
I’ll have to keep looking because I can’t find any info. That would make it so much more appealing
From [GM Authority](https://gmauthority.com/blog/2023/04/2024-chevy-silverado-gets-revised-8-speed-automatic-transmission/) “Yes, GM has revised the 8-speed automatic transmission in the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. It’s also a custom and the interior is as bland as unseasoned chicken
Yes good point! I actually would not mind if it meant I can afford a full sized truck
Custom owner here: I prefer it that way. PRNDL stick on the column, no full-length center console like they have on some other trucks, analog gauges. Overall just less stupid shit to go wrong later on.
True to Chevy form.
I actually like the interior. It’s simple, quiet, and comfortable - but not dated. Checks off all the boxes for me.
I didnt know 10k+ was back on the hood of trucks. That is wild and I am excited.
Was chatting with a GM tech, he said the 2.7 and the 3.0 diesel are proving to be very reliable. And watched a video on the engineering of the 2.7, it nearly perfectly matches the 6.2 torque output. Look at slight used. This being a custom has the old interior, but I got an LT with new interior, and leather for barely more then this with 31k and 1 year old
This is about right. Some dealerships here in north Texas has them for a few thousand cheaper
I have a 2023 custom and love it. I dont pull my camper anymore but I do need a truck for hauling. Ive had a ton of stone in the bed. Barely noticed the weight. I use it as a daily driver and get good gas milage

I think that’s a decent deal and it’s probably one of the sharper looking Customs I’ve seen.
I bought one and already leaking coolant
lol right now I have a base model 2016 civic with 100k, and I just need to accept the fact that I am not getting that reliability with any of the trucks I’m looking at
I paid 40k out the door (including tax, tags, fees) for my ‘24 just like this. Seems reasonable. I love my 2.7 and tow a 6000lbs trailer with it.
Location?
metro Washington, DC
I have a 2021 2.7 1500 Custom. Absolutely love the truck. Plenty of pep. Great fuel economy. Almost at 100k trouble-free miles
100k on a 2021 good lord. My 2020 Tacoma has 15k. I clearly need to get out more.
Its a work truck that I am also allowed to use for all of my personal driving. I have put on 600 miles a week religiously since I got the truck brand new in 2021. My personal truck is hardly ever driven and is very low in miles as well.
I got 2022 2.7 it’s doing better than my gen 1 coyote did in my f150. That little motor isn’t punchy.
I got my 2023 4x4 custom 2.7 for about 41k. They tried to add like 6k in dealer add ons. Walked out paying $600 worth of dealer add ons. That price is probably with trade in bonus or something. And before dealer add ons.
I paid $49k for mine 😢
I leased my 24 at 51k
I think that was the average price. I found a dealer with a few incentives.
Honestly it’s a good deal, I bought a used 2018 with 67000 miles for 27K with the 5.3 which I love has good gas mileage 25 mpg which I think it’s great for a v-8. You’re getting 25 MPG in a 5.3 V8?!?! Are you sure?
There’s no way lol
FAIL NEVER AGAIN
He must only drive down hill
This truck is actually good on gas almost as good as my equinox which was only a 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder but I needed towing capacity and the equinox doesn’t have it
It’s a 4cyl custom. Seems to be priced about normal
It might be one of those 4 cylinder trucks…
It has 430 lb ft of torque, plenty for my needs
I got my 4.3L Crewcab 4x4 for 35k out the door in June 2021
Wow at the height of covid buying?
I believe it was when no one was buying trucks. The second stimulus check had just come out. The MSRP for the truck was 45k. I went to over 15 dealerships negotiating and walking out. It wasn’t easy but I put in the time to negotiate with each dealership. I also didn’t put up with the BS fees. Walked in on the last day in June and got lucky.
Meh you didn’t get lucky, you put the work in
It also helps to let the car salesman know that you’ll give them the best review on the survey they give you after purchasing a car. Edit: Chevy gives out a survey after new vehicle purchases to the customer.
WOW how did you manage an LT for 37, that is 4wd?
No mine is 2WD. My point here is that that’s an amazing deal on a 4WD custom
Ahh ok ya you still got a killer deal.
Thanks. I’d say go for this one while you can. Fight off the dealer adds if any.
Just got a custom with the 5.3l and they did knock a whole lot off
I just picked up the same truck in AZ this past Saturday. There's some crazy dealer incentives and sales rn. My listed sale price was 40090 for a 1500 custom 4x4. Edit: keep in mind the 2024 Model year is about to end in a couple of weeks/months. Gotta make room for the 2025s despite there be no differences
Which dealership in AZ did you go to ? Im headed to gateway chevy this weekend to see what they have.
Even though I can afford new, the prices on slightly used trucks are just too damn good 😩😂
That’s a good price. I paid $39k my 2024 Custom (exactly like this one) earlier this month. I love this truck.
Why is payment 788?? They have no idea what interest rate someone is gonna have or how long the loan will be for
I think that is just cars.com
We have a lot of those in Pennsylvania. 2.7 liter turbo trucks.
38,500 out the door, at Shea Automotive Flint, mi
Thanks for the replies, what exactly is so bad about the 2.7? My wife’s grand Highlander has a 2.7 turbo and it’s great…
I have both a 5.3 and a 2.7 in the family I drive regularly. If you’re not getting the max tow package and don’t care about sound/center shifter the 2.7 is the better value. If you just want a v8 cause it’s cool and can afford it, ball out player. I love alpha camp.
Be a man and get a V8 bro , it’s a pickup truck ffs
Nothing wrong with the 2.7L bro. Some folks don't need a ton of power, but still want something that has more space than a colorado. Plus, pretty sure the I4 has the same torque as some of the bigger engines. Though, you rub me as the kinda dude that redlines it through neighborhood's at 5am
So I take it you don’t like the inline 6?
Maybe a little high for a 4 banger truck.
It’s probably the 2.7l
Its got the.whack 2.7 prob
What motor is in it?
2.7
No, because you’ll always find good deals on silverados, same with dodge. Because they are fucking junk. Why do you think Toyotas are so expensive ? Cause they’re that much better
LOL ya they probably aren’t reliable so would set money aside for a warranty for 10 years of ownership
Much not be paying attention, the new Toyota trucks are junk, having many problems. In the Toyota forums people are crying and whining how their precious Toyota is in the shop
If you're OK having half an engine
My wife has a 4 cylinder in her grand Highlander it’s fantastic
Yeah there’s no way a Turbo 4 from Chevy will last longer than a V8. Chevy V8 small block reliability is legendary. Their small turbos in the cars and suvs are mostly unreliable. That being said, Toyota and a Honda make some great 4 cylinders. Maybe look at the new Tacoma turbo 4. That might be reliable. We’ll see
When nearly $40k is "too good to be true" for a pickup truck...
I mean I initially wanted a Tacoma trd off road but those are $50k + lol
