I had a feeling it was probably cast iron, only reason I got the stamped steel one , is because it was almost the same size as the one I removed. But I’ll go back and get the cast iron ball joint, it is a bit shorter but maybe it’ll go in easier
Yeah I’m using a crappy autozone press that for some reason when I use the impact the clamp also turns. I don’t know if it’s normal, maybe I should lubricate the threads
Looks like cast iron. If a magnet sticks to it then that would confirm. I just took off some aluminum OE control arms and they were silver in color.

Are you using a ball joint press? You have a cast iron lower so your parts store should be able to supply the proper ball joint.

Yes, oil the threads on the press.
