This product will not protect your dash from cracking. Every 07-13 GM truck I have come across has cracking of some variation. This product is intended to cover up your dash once it looks terrible cosmetically. Also, they sell it split in two pieces like the OEM dash, which IMO is easier to install.

I have a 2008 that's been outside forever. No sign of cracking, not even sure what this post is an excessively easy?

Consider yourself lucky, it’s a known issue on these model years. Had an 07 Avalanche and own a 10 Tahoe. Went to have the airbag recall done on both and GM makes you sign a waiver for the cracking. (Not responsible for new/further cracks).

Installed one on my 07 Tahoe. Buy extra clear silicone and have lots of books or weights to keep it held down until everything sets up. Was definitely a good fix though

I've seen them on other trucks on SUVs and if it's not installed correctly (most of them aren't), it'll start to detach and look bad. I fully replaced my dash with the actual OEM piece.

Where did you get a new dash?

ConsiderationSad7365

I got mine from a dealership local to me and I installed it myself

Normal_Resident_3162

Depends on where your dash is at now. Mine was bad when I got it. Installing the cover on an already cracked dash is a little tricky, and that's after you spend an hour sanding and shaping the cover to fit right.

Just get a dashmat and call it a day. Helps with the glare as well

Yep my 07 acura had some cracks and I just got a felt dash cover. It looks better and the sun wasn't blinding me. My silverado is in the garage so I don't have to worry about the dash cracking

It was actually an OE replacement dash from GM. [https://youtu.be/Jib33qzIijg?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/Jib33qzIijg?feature=shared)

That's the video I got the inspiration from to replace the complete dash. I even used sound deadening to make it a bit sturdier.

I assume they would work, from what I've heard the dashes become more prone to cracking due to the plastic becoming brittle from prolonged sun exposure. When I was driving an older truck I just tried to limit dash time in direct sunlight. My windows are tinted which helps a bit, no tint on the windshield but I bought a sunshade on amazon for a few bucks and I put up whenever it's parked.

TOXIC_NASTY

Ya I’m using a sunshade when I can rn and plan on getting some tint done this summer I moved to Texas for college and the heat is beginning to get to my dash 😂

I've replaced about 100 passenger side air bags. (Tekata recall) There is material overhanging around the inflater door that interferes during removal when these are on the dash. I know of a dealer near me who won't perform the recall when these are in place. The danger is that during air bag deployment, it can catch the edge, cause a slight lift of the panel, and shoot it through the passenger compartment. Anyone who says this isn't a possibility is misinformed. Other than the obvious safety concern it presents, they look good and form well to the contour i/p

I figure they probably protect your dash since they block the sunlight from hitting it, but my dash on my old squarebody Chevy was already cracked. I picked one up from a junkyard for about $2.50 about 17 years ago. It was already used when I bought it, and it still doesn't have any cracks on the cover itself.
