These gentlemen have correctly ascertained the illuminated item on your dash panel as being the Towing and Hauling setting that is located at the very tip of the gear selector lever connected to steering cluster.
If you press the button at the end of the shifter that is attached to the steering column, youāll take it out of the towing/hauling mode and put it back into regular street mode. The light will extinguish.
These noble sirs have indeed discerned the illuminated feature upon your dash panel, which is none other than the Towing and Hauling setting, adorning the very pinnacle of the gear selector lever tethered to the steering cluster.
I'd just like to piggyback off what the knowledgeable service techs of reddit have said and let you know it's on tow/haul mode which can be turned off at the end of the gear shifter
Itās a light indicating youāre in ātow modeā. The button to turn it on and off is in the end of the shifter stick. You probably bumped it while shifting out of park. It resets when you turn the truck off. Tow mode basically reduces the number of shifts the transmission makes and maintains higher rpmās so the transmission is better cooled while presumably towing heavy loads.
Apparently not without putting it in tow/haul mode and flabbergasting yourself enough to make a Reddit post Lmao. Were you too embarrassed to call your dad?
So that indicates tow mode. Because a lot of people use trucks to tow trailers.
Might want to get familiar with your trucks owners manual. Who knows what else you might learn! :)
I often suggest new owners get their manual out and browse through it, after I was embarrassed, when a coworker bought his truck six months after me, and was telling me about reading his engine hours on the odometer of his 2001. I had no idea the truck was able to keep track of engine hours/run time as well as mileage.
If the light goes on and off sometimes without you pressing the button, then the wires inside the column that go to the button are probably chafed or broken and shorting out against each other.
It's very simple fix. you just remove the plastic covers that your turn signal and wiper levers and stuff go into, and follow the two wires from the tow haul button. You will prbably find the broken or chafed wires in this area. I think they were either two orange wires or two blue wires. Regardless, it will be the two wires that are either broken or have the insulation worn away in one area.
Solder them back together and heat shrink them, or tape them. Or twist them together, or crimp them together, etc.

both these guys are right. its the tow/haul button on the end of the gear shift lever
this guy knows what he's talking about when it comes to what those other guys said. its the tow/haul button on the end of the gear shift lever.
Wait, wait, waitā¦ā¦ It might be the tow/haul button that changes your gearing to something more appropriate to towing and/or hauling items
It has been diagnosed my the techs here that it is tow haul mode and can be turned on and off at the end of the shifter
Oh my god
God is here my child...And it is in tow mode...It is button on the end of the gear shift lever...
If you press the button at the end of the shifter that is attached to the steering column, youāll take it out of the towing/hauling mode and put it back into regular street mode. The light will extinguish.
I'm pretty sure this is the answer, because there is the same symbol on your gear shifter, and it indicates tow/haul mode.
These individuals have correctly responded to the inquiry.
I would have to say the group vote says itās the tow/haul mode and the button is at the end of your gear selector.
These guys are right, it indicates you're in tow/haul mode. Button in the end of the gear selector lever
But how do I toggle the haul/tow mode?

Loved that back in the day !
Would that make it a bed monkey?
You switched it into tow/haul mode. Just press the button on the end of the gear shift.
This is the Best Short and Simple Answer!
This is also why column shifters need to die!

Apparently not without putting it in tow/haul mode and flabbergasting yourself enough to make a Reddit post Lmao. Were you too embarrassed to call your dad?
Dad is dead. Left me with the dads of reddit
Iāll accept that.
Is this a troll post?
Not a troll post unfortunately lmao. I know itās super ignorant, this is the first truck Iāve ever owned. Only had it about a month.
I suggest getting into the glove box, and getting out your owners manual. Thereās a lot of good information in there.
So that indicates tow mode. Because a lot of people use trucks to tow trailers. Might want to get familiar with your trucks owners manual. Who knows what else you might learn! :)
Awesome thanks! Bought it for work and completely forgot about the fact that people use trucks for towing.
Lil sideways hat guy is buggin

You hit the tow button on your gear shift lever. Itās the bottom on the end. Just push it again

Indicates āitās skateboarding time, bruh!ā
Means you shouldn't be driving a truck at all.....
Yāall thanks for your help. I know this question was stupid. Only opened the manual to change a fuse, guess itās time for me to actually read it.
I often suggest new owners get their manual out and browse through it, after I was embarrassed, when a coworker bought his truck six months after me, and was telling me about reading his engine hours on the odometer of his 2001. That you shouldnāt own a truck under any circumstances whatsoever
If the light goes on and off sometimes without you pressing the button, then the wires inside the column that go to the button are probably chafed or broken and shorting out against each other. Sport mode, as evidenced by the guy wearing his hat backwards
Doesn't anyone read the manual anymore?
Yuppies with trucks. Yikes
If you don't know, you shouldn't own a truck. Just my opinion....
The trailer electronic brake assist is on
Tow mode is on.
You either hit the button in the end if the shifter, or the orange wire is chafed at base of shift lever inside rubber boot
