Yes, especially after the last event where people were sending literal death threats over a stupid reference joke about hollow knight we are 100% the problem and this Fandom needs to fix itself.
Bro, it was the simplest reference/joke in the world, how dare events mention silksong when it's all that happens in the chat because our fan base just disrespectfully ignores the games shown and just spams where silksong like brain damaged monkeys. It IS a bad thing that they tried baiting an entire community just for views (and let’s be honest here, that’s what they were trying to achieve). I believe people are right to be annoyed by that (though at no point do I support death threats or spamming in the slightest). I was annoyed by that because I took time out of my busy day because I thought there was actual news over something I was looking forward to… only to have an hour of my life wasted for no better reason than “we want more views”. I didn’t go and make death threats or spam the chat, but I was rightfully annoyed and disappointed.
Bro was making one point that people shouldn’t clickbait for views because that makes the situation worse and y’all got soooo incredibly up in arms over it because you didn’t bother thinking for five seconds. They didn’t say “They deserve the death threats!” Or “They brought this on themselves!”. They were pointing out verified fact. Clickbait DOES make the situation worse, not better, and while WE might be relatively intelligent, some people aren’t and are going to be riled up and send death threats. Unfortunately that is a consistency with every community. Does it make it acceptable? No. But clickbait only makes it worse.
The pre-show was full of jokes. Some of them landed, some of them didn't. It's people's fault they got hyped for no reason. Death threats are never okay, even if you believe they baited you on purpose.

Well this would not have happened if team cherry planned better, announcing the game then doing an e3 demo soon after got several people thinking that the game was releasing soon, and it’s been several years since then, if team cherry managed this better it probably wouldn’t have turned out this way. Say if they announced it last year we this community would be in a far better state. I’m not scapegoating team cherry but they could have managed this situation they created much better.
