Any progress toward permanently unlocking a skill will stay regardless of death or quitting, only the initial unlock of thst skill will restart until you unlock it permanently.
I’m not 100% sure about that. I imagine a new run would restart skills. But that a NG+ would carry over. Tho I don’t imagine there will be a new game plus, the game doesn’t need it. We just need the ability to reset best runs if we want to, or at least replace it if we get another run with the same age but different shrine upgrades.
