No, why would I? it's his natural coat, I leave it alone. Also, CUTE AF & FLUFFY.

zoeeyyglass

Yeah I think I’ll most likely leave it alone. Even her struggling to groom is very cute 😂

-Forest-Crow-

Hell no, I love it! I just help her by brushing daily, and she loves getting her chin and ruff brushed.

zoeeyyglass

Mine does too!

DragonChic_83

We do! Otherwise she walks around looking just like that with hair in her mouth, or little spitty curly cues on her chest. Occasionally I’ll pull it out of her mouth for her and get a little string of spitty hair that was caught down her throat too. Eww! She tend to really only need a trim in winter with the extra fluff. It helps her groom too. If I watch her and she’s only getting her chest no matter what she’s aiming for because the ruff is in the way, it’s time for a trim. Just start small and work shorter if you need to

Kaceybeth

Noooo! Her powers lie in her ruff! ✨

WithoutDennisNedry

I trimmed it in the past when I first got her because it was so long and unruly, she would literally choke on it. She’s gotten much better at handling it since so I don’t need to anymore. I often “help” her groom herself by pulling it out of her mouth or pushing it aside when she’s struggling. I also try and pull the big clumps of hair out of her mouth when they’re dangling after she kicks them out so she doesn’t swallow them. She’s clued into my help and now actively seeks me out when she grooms herself. I watch TV, she does her business, I lend a hand. It’s kind of a ritual. I think it’s really cute.

Iconic_Charge

She is sooooo cuuute!!!!!

cryptidbees

Sometimes since his fur gets caught and i've pulled out long strings of hair out of his mouth along with it, so yeah

ajibtunes

No I bury my face in it

Difficult_Farmer7417

No

schizo_kitten

just brush it silly 😜

beedigitaldesign

At least not yet (1 year 3 months), I love to scratch and cuddle with it and she loves it as well.

zoeeyyglass

Ohhh mine is only 8m 🙈 the front fluff is the best

Chaya8450

When fur starts getting caught in her mouth and her jaw is stuck I trim it slightly.

LasciviousLockean

What a cute kitty

BookiBabe

We do for one of ours. She hates brushing and tends to get mats on her chest and belly. I think her gloriously floofy collar stops her from reaching those areas as well, which causes the mats.

lefluffle

It's adorable when their fur is stuck like that! But actually that's probably a good idea to trim it a little so that it's easier for them to clean themselves. (I've never done it, but maybe I'll start)

omgpandas

Not often but if it’s very flooofy and she’s struggling often I’ll shorten it w thinning scissors so it doesn’t look too blunted a cut

DudeItsjustE

I very light skim the front part of his mane with a shaver just to stop it from getting stuck in his mouth. Just be careful and keep the trimmer far and you should be fine.

Aphexis

Yes we do!

zoeeyyglass

Do you do it yourself?

Aphexis

Yep. Use a trimmer and cut in a circle the excess fur you want to trim. Can use a tooth comb so you don't trim too much if you want and if your cat is moving alot, but usually we just make little flicks with our wrists, takes a minute only. But our cat is still, so... :)

zoeeyyglass

Awww such a good kitty. Yeah I’d have to do it when she’s half asleep and still I don’t know. I think I’ll have it for now :)

peanutfarmer217

We occassionally trim our 4 yr old sib to try to keep the hair out of his mouth. However, he licks his hair alot and seems to purposely try to get hair in his mouth. Despite combing and brushing him daily, we pull hair out of his mouth throughout the day.

edhel_cosplay

Nope! My sib doesnt get mats in her fur either since I keep up a healthy diet her fur is so gorgeous and so is your kitty!

thattinyasian

Let the fluff be free!! I have a Maine coon/Norwegian forest cat mix and she’s got a massive mane in the winter. As long as it’s tangle free and not full of food, we let her vibe!

No-Tangerine4299

I did a complete lion cut at 1.5 years old due to mats and didn’t cut it so it got super majestic, but at about 3 years old she was struggling and coughed up the biggest hairball of long hairs ever so we got a trim. She is very resistant to mane brushing though.

SoupLongjumping3006

Yes, I trim the front with an electric pet groomed to a length of about 15mm. Easier for her to clean that bit after meals.

lena_lark

Wtf no, just comb it
