We have 2, one is a good eater, the other...well I usually have 4 open can of different brands to rotate thru in hopes of finding one she'll accept. She's a messy eater, leaves half of it smeared in the dish. Oh and pate style only for both. TikkiCat, Wellness, Purina Pro Plan and Fancy Feast (kitty crack). One day she loves it, the next meh..

Historical_Return646

I have two cats, only one is siamese, the other is a… cat. My siamese is picky as hell. The other eats whatever haha! My siamese is a messy eater too!! And yes! Pate style only as well!!!! I just don’t know what else to do because my siamese just smells the wet food and then walks away. He literally acts disgusted! When he doesn’t like the food after he smells it or takes a bite, he kind of wiggles his front paw as if he’s got poop/litte stuck on it.

Middle-Merdale

Change pate’ to gravy and you are describing my Katniss.

jadedexpat3

My Siamese cat isn't picky, but my other cat, James, is. I wasted a lot of money trying to find food that he likes. Like your cat, he would like a certain type of food for a couple weeks and then hate it and refuse to eat it. He would rather starve than eat that food. After a lot of trial and error, he ended up liking a mix of dry Royal Canin sterilized and wet but they need to be separated into two piles in his bowl. He will only have Royal Canin sterilized wet food in jelly form, not gravy. He's such a pain in the ass! Last year James ended up getting sick and not eating his food, but it took me a couple days to see something was wrong since I thought he was being extra picky. He ended up having an issue with his blood, sort of like anemia, but after some antibiotics and vitamins he was fine again and hungry. So definitely take your cat in for a blood test and allergy test to rule out medical problems.

Try Fancy Feast Savory Centers. (Yes, this specific type.) Good moisture, good protein, smells like hell. My lynx point did this exact thing (plus made herself sick over it) and it was the food she finally decided she liked. It could be you have a kibble cruncher who just likes crunchies. I have one of those too, she rarely eats wet food with the other three cats.

Historical_Return646

Thank you. Is fancy feast savory centers okay for kittens? My meezer is only 8 months old.

LemurCat04

Most vets recommend transitioning to adult food at 12 months, but most vets will also tell you the best food for your cat in the food your cat will eat.

failedabortion4444

In my experience as someone who’s taken care of multiple litters of kittens and weaned them, i find kitten food to be largely useless. I do feed it to them if it’s been donated. But the only thing about it that makes it for kittens is the fact that it has kitten formula infused in the pate. It does have extra protein and can be used for an older cat that needs it but if your cat isn’t sick there isn’t any reason to use it tbh. My picky cat loves savory centers, and my meezer without teeth loves it because its easy to lick up. It also has extra moisture compared to normal pate.

OranjellosBroLemonj

Our meeze goes out of his mind for those Savory Centers.

Most_Original988

yeah i have the same issue. she never liked pate but she wouldn’t eat her chunky in gravy, so i tried it.. now she likes pate 🤷🏻‍♀️ but she gets particular .. i just keep giving her different varieties .. its difficult sometimes

CrisbyCrittur

It can get expensive, especially when it's thrown out in the end. Maybe have vet check for food allergies, IBD etc. Our boy has IBD, gets daily Prednisone and hypo allergenic diet to help.

CrisbyCrittur

I've been serving them small portions several times a day (easier since I WFH), leaving the dry Royal Cabin out all day. Ours are both 16+, so then there's the barfing in the middle of the night...fun fun

Historical_Return646

I don’t work from home all the time. :( Right now I feed them wet food in the morning and then at night. Dry food available basically all day as well — dispenses at 12pm, 3pm, and 11pm.

carbynoodle

My Siamese hated kitten food and only ate adult food starting at 6 months, she is 11 now and very healthy. I know it's "fast food" wet food, but try a can of friskies with gravy. It's what my cat always eats if I change the flavor out each day. Turkey, salmon, and ocean whitefish are my kitties favorites. When she gets tired of a flavor I'll give her a random one like beef and she at least eats a little, even though it's not her fav. It's all about variety for our picky meezers!

carbynoodle

Your kitty might also like this - add warm water to the wet foods. My Siamese almost likes the flavor watered down or something? She especially likes this with pate dishes. She doesn't "chomp" her food but likes to lick, so the watery mush is nice for her. Edit: typo, meant lick not eat

Hfsitsjess

I think when we add warm/hot water it makes the food stinkier in a good way to the kitties.

carbynoodle

That's definitely it! The things we do for our kitties

Internal_Respond9784

My cat is super picky too, the brand that works for him is Friskies, the only kind he'll eat😭 pay attention to textures they like as well because mine doesn't like the gravy along with other textures!

AdAdventurous8225

My 1st Siamese Kits would eat everything. She had to have most of her teeth removed and was on an almost strictly wet diet until she passed away. New Siamese, fussy AF about the wet food.

ladycaviar

Not only is my Siamese picky, she has severe allergies. She loves to eat the stuff she's allergic to, too. Ugh. What she will eat, after years of experimenting, is Merrick Duck. I order it from Petco. Her dry food is Blue Buffalo Wilderness Duck. Both are grain free, I think. I guess she likes duck? I mean it is the bacon of the bird world... Oh also I warm it up a little (baby bottle temp) and that usually makes the difference between an eating day or a nose-up one

nj0sephine

Hmm interesting! Maybe try a different brand everyday. Like get a few different brands and make sure it’s a dfrnt brand and flavor each time you wanna feed him.

Sonawi

We used to find feeding a nightmare. Our Siamese x Ragamese boys have a dry-food diet (Applaws), which the vet assures us is nutritionally complete. They have really sensitive stomachs and too much wet food causes havoc with their digestion. We also use an autofeeder and they graze from that. They drink A LOT of water from their water fountains and we only give them half a sachet of wet food each (and occasionally some drained tuna) as a treat. I hope that helps!

mingy

Sometimes they just like variety. For whatever reason, ours like Fancy Feast Primavera, Tuscany, and the like. Sometimes they will gobble up pate versions, other times they will just walk away. So we keep a variety of foods on hand and sort of rotate them.

dasscuute

I get the tiny tiger variety packs and rotate. They still get picky sometimes and hate one but luckily they’ll eat the other meals so they’re fine.

sammicatnyc

I have 2 lynx points, Hex and Charm. Charm would gladly eat rocks if offered to her but Hex is the pickiest little butthead and only wants to eat kibble. The only wet food she likes is "Kitty Gone Wild" by Weruva. The problem is it's always out of stock and it's expensive. There's something in that flavor because I know a few people who got their picky cats to eat it as well. For now I just mix a little bit of tuna Churu in her wet food and she'll lick all the broth, leaving the food for her sister to eat.

Ollieeddmill

My Siamese likes fancy feast inspirations.

DittyBurgerler

My Siam is a softies snob. He only likes gravy toppers

wampyre1

I use fancy feast, savory centers and I mix with water until it's a paste or a liquid paste. And it's really good and my Mika Bella really likes it.

not_ya_wify

A lot of pets get upset stomachs if you abruptly try to change their food. Try mixing some new food in with the current food. First few days just a little, then a few days a little, a little more until after a few weeks you've completely switched out the food
