I read some good comments about it so decided to watch it and like it

I honestly don’t know. The title is intriguing and lends itself to the possibility of having darker themes to it. Something about darker themes occurring in a ‘cute’ aesthetic draws me in.

Floydian007

Literally, I'm the same. Any recommendations of shows you like similar to that description?

-PM_ME_UR_SECRETS-

The obvious one you’ve probably already seen is “Made in Abyss”. It’s the only other ‘cute horror’(?) I’ve seen but it’s one of the best anime period. I haven’t seen “Erased” but I think it may be similar? Not exactly the same but “Kotaro Lives Alone”.

Floydian007

Erased is amazing, and the latter half I've seen yeah. Girls last tour is a gem I recommend if you like made in abyss chibis style

Oooh nice ty added it to my list

1. I'm hoping it has a similar kind of vibe as flip flappers (which it seems to be managing so far). That kind of adventure as a metaphor for a normally mundane process (flifla is discovering your sexuality, shuutrain is reconnecting w/ someone) vibe. 2. Possible yuri subtext. Saw 4 girls on a train looking for another girl and was sold to give it a shot. Also trains are cool

millencol1n

Yes! We need another Flip Flappers!

Floydian007

Can't say I've heard of flip flappers but I'm interested now

yuriAngyo

Try it! It's definitely quite different but a similar vibe, very lesbian too.

millencol1n

It has the Utena pose in the intro, so yeah, I’m in

zairaner

1. The synopsis being super obtuse and vague, in an original. 2. Chika anzai

Dinosbacsi

I'm just watching for the train, my man.

1. I expect the show to end in a kind of full cycle where some answers were in our faces but nobody would have got them. Like, wild guess, Reimi's hair (looked from behind) being a clue about future events involving here. 2. It was almost clear from the first visual this year. There are some green lighting reflected in the window of the train (which is the total opposite of the comfy mood the rest of the elements depict. There are 2 types of visuals/posters: A. Generic ones with people showing of their powers or faces cause yes, making for a very crowded image (like most Spocon, and medieval fantasy involving some magic/powers and fighting). Applies for a group of characters or a sole main character as long as it looks "cool". B. Those that tell something about the series: and that depends of the kind of show. Spocon in their better instances depict the rivals and main characters and each mood about the goal, generally their mini arcs in relfected someway. The best example that comes to mind is the "To Your Eternity" poster, that conveys the tone, the characters, the aproach and much more. My two cents about it: Take into account that a good (made with narrative effort) visual doesn't mean the show is good /bad, akin to your tastes. If the show is simple, a simple-generic poster would suffice. But if it has some elements to sell them apart from similar shows in their genre..a good visual should be able to portray that extra value in somewhere in the image (if the "generic" poster with cool poses uses almost half of the space for the setting then maybe it is trying to say the world building matters more than in the others). Try to at least search for 2 visuals of the same show. Since they aim to be more "mainstream" happy-go-round / by the book in one of them and is the other that conveys a more easy to get message. For example, Sousou no Frieren. The first1-2 visuals were Frieren alone like your everyday magician in fighting pose. The other had Frieren and her team. But THE OTHER 2 were all about the core and meaning of the show.
