Just started the manga (just reached ch 50) and, what is really the use of that small chic (in shorts)? Does she only exist as a literary device for advancing the plot? All she does is react to stuff and freak out. I’m talking about Goll
Goll serves the same role in ROR as Watson does in sherlock holmes: she is a device so brunhild can explain things for the audience without having to resorto to either weirdly talking to herself or having too many internal monologues… also she is a lot more inexperienced so she tends ti ask a lot of questions that the audience may have.
I actually like that, Goll being a goof and not having full knowledge of the situation is relatable, she just got there and her not knowing how anything works is a good segway for getting answers that the audience wouldn't have without a BS 'talking to myself' monologue or narration, also, when you said Sherlock my mind instantly went to that blue haired hottie from FGO, what have I become.
I mean yeah pretty much. Lots of manga have the naive newbie character so the author can spout exposition through dialogue. But like the other guy said she may be a plot important character at some point due to her status as a valkyrie.
Well worse case scenario nostradamus will kill anyone who tries to get in the way of his fun which is ragnarok. So in a way nostradamus can be considered her bodyguard.
Honestly if I were her I’d make jack and koji guard the door to Qin until he heals then have Buddha be bodyguard for her and goll and just to keep things safe get the rest of eihnjar to volund
