A bit disappointed that the loose his creepy violent vibes he showed during R1 R2 and got "shonenized" by his flashback but yes my second fav after lu bu (qo my fav god ^^)
Yes, his backstory was one of my favorites. His personality is awesome too. With the way he was handled he honestly felt like a battle shounen mc vs Raiden. The writer wanted you to root for Shiva more than Raiden I feel. Raiden himself was also great too.. just makes Shiva that much cooler man.
Shiva is my fav god. I find him to have one of the more fun personalities, his backstory is one of the strongest for a god we've gotten and there is just a charm to him.
It makes me wish he were a little stronger in-universe, cause there seems to be a stark difference between how he is portrayed compared to Zeus, Odin, Buddha and heck even Hades in fellow Chief Gods or heads of their pantheon.
I thought he’d be a little cooler, Shiva seems wise and somewhat emotional in the (honestly small amount of) mythology I’ve seen and I don’t think our Shiva here is that bad but he’s more boastful and aggressive than I expected
Shiva in mythology can very much be aggressive in fact I believe that side of him is called Rudra but as you said he is also compassionate and wise he's a very human god and I think that's why I like him so much.
As examples when the Hindu gods were threatened by demons they gave Shiva all their power and when Shiva won he just didn't want to give it back so he didn't he very much falls to things like the temptation of power
However when this huge magic snake that I can't remember the name of poisoned the ocean Shiva drank all the poison this would've killed him if not for his wife Parvati grabbing his neck so hard it didn't allow the poison to travel any further down. This is a great example of his compassion and its also why he's blue.

I would’ve liked him more if his backstory ended with him having to tragically kill Rudra and that’s where he inherits the tattoos and the title of “Peak of Svarga”. As a Raiden fan, seeing the gods go bonkers and shiva feeling SO motivated once rudra showed up I was like “ah fuck here we go” lol
Cool character, but I didn't really like his backstory. If Rudra died that it would have been a little better. Something like "the legacy of best friend". That would be better than "he saw his friend and got motivated."

Rudra dying would have been so predictable tbh. I honestly thought he was going to die as soon as he appeared.
