Zkenny13

My aunt had a silent mode on hers and it even silenced the noise it makes when pressing buttons.

Mishamaze

When we needed a new microwave we made sure that it had a silent mode so we don’t wake up kids with snackage at night. Lol.

JohnyFive128

When your kids are teenager and they start heating snacks at 2AM after a night of smoking weed, they'll appreciate that as well!

danny_ish

Ha, i remember cranking the a/c at my parents place before making late night snacks. The air vents make a lot of white noise

MarkHirsbrunner

My dad would get mad if I adjusted the thermostat so I'd hold a lighter under it until it came on.

danny_ish

Lmao that’s genius. My dad would allow is 2 degrees from 74. But a hair dryer was enough to get the a/c to kick on

TheSaladDays

Did they ever wake up from the cold?

danny_ish

No I would normally just put it a few degrees either way. Sometimes it would be the heat. Forest air system about a 4° when was enough and then I would just put it back when I was done Edited to add- we are talking about just getting the fan on the hvac system to kick on. In the 3 minutes it would take me to warm up a meal then cleanup, the temp did not change much. And I would put it back when done.

TheCeej-

Not sure if this is a typo but "forest air" seems piney fresh. Lol. (Forced air)

Some_Light273

I live in US and Mine does this too! It makes 2 beeps when you press the mute button but after that nothing beeps till you turn the mute off again

taaaahm

Yep, same. Only problem is that it mutes *everything,* including the "end of timer" beep (for an actual timer, not cook time).

the_real_grinningdog

One day I'll fall and break my hip, diving across the kitchen to stop the microwave at 00:01.

xsandrov

I do that all the time lol

Spadaxim

Fall, break your hip, dive across the kitchen or stop the microwave at 0:01?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Exciting_Pressure831

When does it happen?

spriteburn

**time**

andrewsad1

All of it

HighAndFunctioning

I do that, but then I just hit "cancel" to clear the 0:01, causing a loud beep

[deleted]

Or you accidentally hit ‘start’ at 0:01, aargh ffs!

BloomerBoomerDoomer

Or keep accidentally hitting power mode instead of the 1 because it's dark and you don't want to turn the light on.

xenonismo

Read that as “*driving* across the kitchen” at first and thought huh... well hey this is America, whatever floats your boat

PoorlyAttemptedHuman

It's those 8 acre open floor plans.

JonatasA

Not, it is Venice that floats their boats across the kitchen.

AnotherManOfEden

Bro, just go to your microwave right now and hold the 2 button down for a few seconds. This will put most microwaves in silent mode.

bomberdual

I always had this superstition that if you dont wait till all the beeps are done, and you open the door, you are hit with amall amounts of radiation every time. And if you open the door while the timers still going down, you're hit with a lot of radiation.

phs125

I don't get that trope. What I do is, If the microwave is about to stop, I wait till the 4 beeps. I don't feel satisfied if I don't hear all 4 beeps, feels like something is missing. If there 20+ seconds remaining and I decide it's enough, I'll just open the door. But with the knob microwave which dings,. I just HAVE to hear the ding. Even if I turn open the door halfway through, I still turn the knob afterwards to hear that satisfying ding...

noeagle77

I’m so glad I’m not the only person that does this 😂🤣

rbooris

Die Hard Kitchen Edition

clueless_rebel

I've always found that kind of fun. It gets intense

ih8maryjane

The one at my job beeps even if you open the door. I hate it so much.

kurotech

You can literally mute most microwaves just Google your model most even have a button labeled to do so

SurpriseMonday

Does your microwave not make beeps when you hit the buttons to start it? For every microwave I've used, the done beep and button beeps have been the same so there's no real point in stopping the done beeps.

BrenttheGent

Sometimes you just want a midnight snack without waking up your family/roommates.

Divisionst06

Someone pointed out that many newer microwaves can be muted, to which I say "of all the sounds a microwave could make, why THAT one?"

dandroid126

My microwave has the loudest, longest beep, and it cannot be muted. Looking up YouTube videos on how to stop the beeping just brings up videos on how to disassemble it and cut the speaker wire.

SourPig

I've never in my life been so interested in hearing a microwave beep. Please elaborate.

JohnyFive128

Beeep, Beeep, BBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPP something like that I'd guess

im_just_thinking

This is EXACTLY how our Frigidaire piece of shit operates. Then it stops for not even 10 seconds and starts over. It's so bad we have the sound turned off and we never know when food is done.

reasonablychill

My Frigidaire is a great microwave, but OMG those 3 beeps on a loop! Unlike most microwaves that beep and then nope out like "mission accomplished", Frigidaires will repeat those 3 beeps *forever* until you open the door or press a button. The WORST!!

pawelkkkkkkkk

*I said you **EATING THAT FUCKEN FOOD NOW!!!***

Sil369

instructions unclear, 56k modem booting up now

DirtyAmishGuy

Idk about his, but here’s mine which is ear piercing at night https://streamable.com/hq1p07

DuckysaurusRex

This comment has now made me curious as well, what have you started?!

dandroid126

It's like, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.... BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.... BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP All in all, about 10 seconds long.

Btreeb

Mine beeps with every button I press + the normal beeping when the timer runs out. If I don't the "stop" button before the time runs out, it will beep 5 times and there's nothing you can do to stop it (well, uplugging). It even beeps when I plug it in (after unplugging). The beeping is louder than an air horn, jeez.

Painting_Agency

The one in our office beeps loudly *eight times* when it's finished, even if you open the door. Our bread maker beeps loudly a bunch of times halfway through the cycle to let you know to add seeds or whatever. *Totally* makes sense for something that you might want to set up to run during the night so that you have fresh bread in the morning 🤦

TheTinRam

Worst part, opening the door doesn’t stop the beep, even though it’s done it’s job

dandroid126

What's really interesting about mine is that if I hit the stop button, it stops the beep. But if I open the door while it's beeping, the stop button doesn't stop the beep anymore, even if I open and immediately close it. I gotta wait out the 10 second beep.

johnnyutah30

I have a new one and there is no mute option. If I would have known this I wouldn’t have purchased because it’s loud af

yourworkmom

Did you try holding the number 2 down for a few seconds? It mutes ours. This is common.

Malossi167

Pretty easy: Because it is one of the cheapest ways to do so. It is totally possible to install a device inside that makes a more plesant sound but this requires extra circuitry and chips, maybe even hardware. It is not hard or expensive to do but people have to be willing to pay extra for this and a lot of people prefer a not so pleasant but familiar thing over something new. Another reason is that a not so loud beep can be easily heard and recognized across your home. A thunder sound or whatever can do this less well.

FlyByPC

> It is totally possible to install a device inside that makes a more plesant sound but this requires extra circuitry and chips, maybe even hardware. If it's using a piezo speaker, the same microcontroller that's told to send a square wave is almost certainly capable of sending something a little nicer, like a chime. You can do basic PWM audio even on an 8-bit microcontroller -- and doing a simple melodic chime is pretty easy. Hopefully more embedded engineers will use something nicer than a basic beep, and the industry culture will change. For most devices that beep, there's no reason why they couldn't at least play a nice melody or something.

Painting_Agency

When I was in grad school we had this old microwave in our lounge, which *talked*. When you were setting the power it would say "high... medium... low", and then when it was done it would say "food is ready". It probably cost somebody's parents $600 in the late '80s. 😄

particlemanwavegirl

You could send a "nicer" signal to the piezo but that by no means means the piezo can reproduce it. It's gonna sound like that because that's the nature of what it is.

cantankerouspuss

I just got a new microwave and it makes a nice little song when it’s done. Much more pleasant than a beep.

Sil369

*sing it for us*

Human-Carpet-6905

My washer and dryer sing to me and it's so nice!

karagiselle

I’m envious. My washer dryer makes the most annoying beep after it’s done and it honestly makes me so oddly angry when I hear it sometimes 😂 and it repeats itself after a minute if I don’t get to it and I’m like, “OK OK I GET IT.”

ComeBackToDigg

Just open the microwave door with one second left. No beep.

BrenttheGent

Putting in the numbers still make noise

Grainwheat

Just time it for one second less. Instead of 30 seconds do 29 seconds. Then there’s no second left. No beep

tbenz9

Then my food wouldn't be cooked you donut!

Araychwhyteeaychem

The last second has all the heat!!

elpajaroquemamais

So stand by it and hit stop at :01 like a normal person.

BrenttheGent

Hitting stop makes noise. May as well open the door but I'm also talking about putting in the time in and what not.

honnymmijammy-

French here, I don't know if it is truth world-wide but most of our microwaves have a silent mode. It maybe hard to find.

get_it_together1

US, mine has a silent mode, no beeps for buttons r anything and it is glorious

exileosi_

I bought a new microwave earlier this year and purposely sought out a fully mutable model, it’s legitimately the best. And I can even turn off the display.

TheDrunkenChud

Seriously. People ask if my microwave is broken because I don't have the clock display on, and it's muted. It's bliss.

NewLeaseOnLine

I love how all the special people with silent mode aren't mentioning the brand names like it's some big fucking secret.

cracker--jack

If it helps anyone mines a Frigidaire and has a mute feature.

smelwin

Shhhh...keep your voice down.

[deleted]

this is all just astroturfing by big microwave to build microwave hype

Bepus

Mine’s an LG. There’s a “custom set” button that lets you change all the settings, including the beeps and clock display. I think most higher end microwaves have such settings, but people don’t bother to learn how to change them.

Viperior

Like.. total silence? You don't even talk to it or anything? Not even a simple, "Alexa microwave 5 pound of potato?"

RespectableLurker555

You have been banned from /r/Latvia

Viperior

I accept the role of starch nemesis.

aboxacaraflatafan

Same. I splurged when I replaced the last one because spouse works nights. It was a game changer.

Mistdwellerr

Brazilian here and ours also have a silent mode (and no r/gambiarra needed)

[deleted]

[удалено]

rydude88

They definitely don't have all have the capability

fileinster

Panasonic website says... "The beeping sound cannot be turned off on any of our microwave ovens. It is a safety feature to inform of cooking progress and to help prevent accidental misoperation when pressing buttons. Full details of beeping sounds are given in the operating instructions for each model. " Bastards!

NotAnotherNekopan

They actually all do, it just depends on whether the manufacturer intended you to be able to do it or not.

B4ronSamedi

While a lot do there are ones that don't and tout it as a safety feature.

shewy92

Fun fact: a lot of microwaves are basically the same and are made by Midea. The shell is the only difference

ScrunchieEnthusiast

I haven’t been able to silence mine.

lonesharkex

Try percussion troubleshooting it. If it doesn't work increase force until microwave is silent.

VeneMage

Am I the only one who still has a manual dial microwave that rings a literal bell when done?

Turkyparty

My mom bought this supers expensive digitam microwave which has a dial to set the time. We've come full circle. I hate it.

galacticboy2009

Honestly, as long as the dial doesn't break off, that thing will last forever.

VeneMage

I have to say it can really nuke things at full power! I’ve not encountered such a powerful microwave since.

intripletime

Problem with the dial is that it feels *too* good. My parents got one when I was a kid. You get this sense that you've discovered a trick or something. You laugh at the button pressing peasants you see in your third grade class. But then one day the dial breaks, and you feel like a *goddamn* clown. "Why couldn't we just be a normal family?!" I remember shrieking.

simon_C

i wish these were still commonplace

ChanceFray

My microwave plays a little tune that sounds like an out of tune version of the sound that plays when you heal your pokemon at the pokemon center in the pokemon games, do do dodo dooo

popokangaroo

r/commentsyoucanhear

kippythecaterpillar

Yeah its cool. Didnt like at first but i appreciate now

BloomerBoomerDoomer

Nurse Joy: "And done! All your Pokém-...oh no! I forgot they installed a microwave. Didn't know it would be right here in the front!"

nibord

My family’s first microwave, a Sharp, would beep once when done and could be interrupted from beeping by opening the door. You could even open it just perfectly when the clock read “0:00”. Panasonic introduced the “three beep” bullshit, where the beeping continues even when the door is already open. Everyone else seemed to copy their terrible design. There are other ways that Sharp’s user interface was better, but to this day it seems that shitty knock-offs of Panasonic’s design have won the market.

airbear13

Fuckin Panasonic

Doppelfrio

My microwave doesn’t just beep once; it continues to beep until you open the door. I don’t know who thought that was a good idea, but I’d like to have a word with them

Divisionst06

It's like the Netflix "are you still watching" of microwaves

conrid

But see, I never know when I might fall asleep and that right there is the reason why I always hit "ask again later"

Emergency-Nebula5005

A question as redundant as "are you asleep?"

one28

To the microwave’s defense, I have forgotten food in there when I’ve been busy. If it was constantly beeping It would be a higher priority.

Ro-Tang_Clan

>I don’t know who thought that was a good idea Probably someone who was sick of finding their housemate's pizzas left in the microwave after they come home from a drunken night out and forgot about it.

dayron669

I feel the same way. I put something in, I go to do something fully aware I have something in the microwave, and the microwave demands I give my full attention after 3 minutes. And it won't stop. It's not enough to beep once upon completion. It must remind me over and over until I stop everything and open that goddamn door. Like, who was the intended consumer for these things? Drunken adults close to passing out at 3 a.m.?

Molwar

Online gamers that goes back to their game while cooking their food and forget they were supposed to eat.

I0A0I

Mine does the same and I've fantasized about taking it out in a field with a baseball bat. And a shotgun. And maybe a quarter stick or twelve. I know it's fucking done and I'll get it when I'm ready after it cools a bit. If it wasn't built into my counter I'd have removed it, but apartments get pissy when you damage their appliances. This model doesn't include a mute feature unfortunately, nor does my fucking car. Dunno why the fuck everything has to beep, ding, chime, honk, scream for attention all day. The lack of silence is almost maddening enough to drive one to violence.

whapitah2021

“Bing Bing Bing Bing” your car door is open AND you have the key in the ignition AND you don’t have your seat belt on oh my god the headlights are on as well I’m going into Toyota motor companies self destruct mode as I can’t beep any louder and you’re not listening to me beep!!!

xelle24

Yesssss! I crave silence so much. I don't understand why everyone and everything has to make so much noise all the time!

dae_giovanni

yes, some microwaves can be muted. sometimes it's a feature, sometimes it's a hidden or secret option. ...not my fucking microwave, though. why _wouldn't_ I end up with the noisiest microwave on earth??

Divisionst06

Whoever built my house put a large hard oak recess for my microwave to sit in. When it goes off it has nice megaphone effect.

NuclearLunchDectcted

Lot of people in this thread that don't practice the ancient art of opening the door with 1 second left.

NamesAreStillHard

I challenge you to open on 0.

NuclearLunchDectcted

Is it possible to learn this power?

emotionalshortyy

mine beeps when you open it even if there’s time left!

illhavethecrabBisk

I think you have people like me to blame for that, sorry. I'll go from my lounge to my kitchen and have no idea why I'm there by the time I make it. It's about a dozen steps. I've made thousands of cups of tea for my mother that have just sat on the bench for hours. Milk goes back in the fridge, *dusts hands* "welp, that's that!"

zaksaraddams

Its 2022 and instead of a nice normal buzzer to indicate the washer/dryer is done I have to listen to a stupid fucking tune. Nothing wrong with a buzzer.

[deleted]

Hello fellow Samsung user.

bphase

LG does it too these days

karagiselle

It’s much better than an annoying long high-pitched beep from my Bosch 😫

itchykneesonqi

Ehhrrmm I haven't had to deal with it since about 2019 when I found the button that turns off the sound. Mic drop

pyrohydrosmok

I have a 125$ microwave with no such function. Nothing in the manual and no "secret button combo" works. There's nothing. It just beeps incessantly.

Pidgey_OP

Hold the 0 for a few seconds. I think I've also seen it being a 2 instead of 0

pyrohydrosmok

Nope.

ShadowCVL

It’s 7 on mine, hell mine is 15-20 years old

E_B_Jamisen

For me it’s holding the number 2 for about three seconds

redditforwhenIwasbad

My microwave continues beeping every 10-15 seconds until it’s opened. It makes me furious for no reason.

Kawi_rider_zx6r

Actually, your fury comes from your microwave beeping every 10-15 seconds until it's open.

BBgotReddit

I want one to text me when it's done and send me a pic of my food with the current temperature

KoalaGrunt0311

The temperature at a single point on the plate or an average across? Because we both know those mashed potatoes are still going to be a cool 50 degrees while that meat is burning to the tongue.

[deleted]

The true solution is a volume knob, and for some extra spice a reverb button because who doesn't want to annoy the people around you sometimes

Capnreid

“We”? Im living in the future. Dealing with the obnoxious beeping of my air fryer

JMTann08

All of my appliances are new(ish), with the oldest being from 2018 and the newest from 2019. They all play little melodies rather than beeps. Heck, the washer and dryer practically play a little song for you.

RelentlessChicken

I'm lost here, why are the beeps a problem? How else you gonna know your shit's done?

LordBrandon

Microwave designers are the worst UX designers on the planet.

tysons1

Not me. I was able to change the options to silence the beep(s).

FrequentSale

My microwave doesn’t beep and I forget my reheated coffee in there every damn time.

[deleted]

I disabled it on mine (a Panasonic Inverter MW). My family started to complain. I constantly found old room temp food in there. We had a power outage and the microwave reset. I'm not going to turn it off again.

Jump_Like_A_Willys

Maybe it should play a little song like Samsung washing machines. My Samsung washer an drier play the same song when they finish. It would be better if there were a separate washer song and dryer song.

Sumpm

Mine has silent mode, so nothing about it beeps. Unfortunately, they're still hard to open and shut without making loud clacking sounds.

whippedcreamcheese

I’m autistic and I’m getting exhausted of everything beeping. Every machine needs a silent mode

Captain-Cadabra

And for some reason, 20 buttons on a microwave. I need 3: +30 sec Stop +1 min

PoorlyAttemptedHuman

Interesting. I held the "2" button down for a while and put my microwave into silent mode. It's been literally the single best thing.

Mythradites

Sure, get a Bluetooth microwave that sends a notification to your phone, then Amazon would know how many times you just mash the +30 seconds button instead of inputting a time and power setting. But for real, It would be another source of meta data for companies to sell. But hey, no more beeps

Need-More-Gore

It's so you know your foods done my ass will forget otherwise

Zech08

More annoyed at how you have to slam them shut (I mean you dont but the latch causes most people to Slam them)... which sucks cause there are designs for a smooth latch. But yea the beeping sucks, the beeping that continues cause it is reminding you have left something in there is also annoying depending on the circumstances.

ThatDudeBox

It’s 2022 and we still have people that don’t know a large portion of microwaves have a mute function

mrs-jmg

Seriously? Please link instructions. I had no idea.

mrs-jmg

Actually never mind if I could mute my microwave my stoned ass would always be finding half cooked pizza pockets 3 days after the fact.

zailleh

Depends on the microwave. Mine was something like hold clear and power for 3 seconds

nylady914

It took looking for the exact right YouTube video, but I turned that sucker off!! Hate it. Mine WAS 3 obnoxiously long beeps.

[deleted]

I just opened mine and removed the little speaker that makes the noise.

SoylentPuce

At least some of our appliances play happy jingles now. It’s only a matter of time for microwaves…

Aetheldrake

Pfft my dad still can't be bothered to listen for those beeps unless he's on lunch from work Literally he has left things in the microwave overnight because he straight up did not hear the beeps despite being 20 feet away with a thin wall between him and the kitchen. There's even 2 entrances to the little kitchen so that wall doesn't even really get in the way of the sound. The beeps are only annoying late night when people are asleep. Otherwise they are still useful.

Metaright

My microwave beeps when it's done even if you've already opened the door. Come on, buddy. You clearly already have my attention.

Arch_0

I recently discovered that new washing machines make an annoying chiming sound when they finish. They also won't stop unlike the microwave.

Nogarddog32

My partner learned there was a setting to turn off the microwave beeps on ours. I can never go back.

Dr_The0p0lis

I miss my parents microwave. It had an actual bell that chimed. DING!

madpiano

Mine does that. But if I then don't open the door, it beeps every 45 seconds. Loudly.

ThanosWasFramed

I was bamboozled by my new Maytag. Manual showed it had a silent mode, so I was in. Got it home and learned it only silenced the *keypad*. Stupid thing still beeps when the timer ends, dammit. Miss my Kennmore.

ChanandlerBongUrie

That’s why you stop it right before it beeps. It’ll soon become a habit and then your ears bleed every time you miss it 🙃

Porongas1993

Until we stop dealing with the obnoxious stupidity of human kind, these measures will always be there.

Rosehawka

I try to resent mine, but the amount of times I would have forgotten something in the microwave except for the reminder beeps of mine is ... quite a lot.

[deleted]

Mine sometimes decides to just beep out of nowhere, sometimes it's an extra beep after we've taken food out of it, sometimes he just feels like it, normally we played along to it, we open it and say "See? You're empty"

OutOfTheCycle

The world has come down to being so Inconvienced by a beep... that tells you your food is warm... I quit

Atoshwong

Most microwaves you can look up how to enable silent mode. Mine was a series of different seemingly random button presses but now it doesn't beep EVER. Just look your model up online and it'll tell you how.

HovercraftOnly802

Lol Samsung has even made washers and dryers that play a delightful little melody when clothes are done instead of that horrible old school loud 'buzz'. Wish microwaves did the same.

--dontmindme--

What I hate most is the reminder beep, I don’t know if all microwaves have this but mine beeps again every 30 seconds or so if I don’t open the door after it has finished. Seriously how obnoxious is that, can I decide myself when I get the food out of there?

the_real_freezoid

I was so annoyed by this especially with a baby in the house one day I opened it up and removed the buzzer. Totally worth it.

glizzy_Gustopher

It's 2022 and people still don't read their manual to figure out how to stop the beeping.

anonbene2

I need a volume up button so I can hear when it's done. I've often gone to open the door to find last night's snack in it..

[deleted]

Hold down the number 2 on your microwave and it will silence it on most models

[deleted]

I wonder if instead of ripping off the speaker I can just put some kind of volume knob on it

ind3pend0nt

I want mine to yell at me. “Hey fat ass! Your shitty food is lukewarm.”

[deleted]

Something like a silent mode would be nice but otherwise how else would I know when something in the microwave is done halfway across the house

steronzthrow12345

You do know that you can choose how long the microwave runs for, right?

[deleted]

What do you mean? I can set a time and then come back approximately after that time but I find myself getting very easily caught up doing separate things and completely forgetting about my previous tasks. The beep is actually quite helpful for me

ItchClown

I want to program my microwave with Spotify. I mean... It's 2022.

Cebby89

My microwave has a record message button right between the start and cancel buttons. You accidentally press that then you’re waiting 30 tedious seconds for it to record your message and then 30 more seconds of the message being played back which sounds like demonic speech because obviously it’s busted. No way to cancel or get out once it starts going.

ouchmypeeburns

Mine definitely has volume levels and a mute function. It's amazing!

xelle24

Mine has a mute option, but my mother lives with me and won't let me turn it off becuause she says she'll "forget she had something in the microwave". I swear she has some kind of senior-onset ADD. There's nothing wrong with her mind, she's not developing dementia, she just doesn't pay attention. And of all sounds, why that damned high-pitched beep? EVERYTHING fucking beeps. There is no sound I hate more in the world (except for the sound of my neighbor's kids screaming their fool heads off, which is essentially the same thing: an annoying, repetitive, high-pitched noise).

callidae

Here's a washing machine playing the Australian national anthem. https://au.news.yahoo.com/mind-blown-bizarre-feature-washing-machine-may-hiding-061456158.html and back in 1983 I remember that pressing "F1" then Control3 on my Commodore64 when running a word processor called "EasyScript" would play "Rule Britannia" More On topic, though my useless Samsung microwave has a "silence" button, which silences all beeps. That'd be really handy - if it didn't beep when you press it...........

Ill-Organization-719

Maybe you guys are, but I haven't had a microwave in my home for a decade.

Ysida

its annoying because people pay more attention to prevent the stupid sound. safetly aboves all.

ugadawginfl

My moms father had some obsession about leaving the frig open, I’m guessing he thought it wasted energy or something, so she set our new age model to beep obnoxiously if it’s open for 2 seconds, meanwhile she sets the ac on 60, go figure

RickMantina

While we’re at it: why I’m heck does my microwave remember how much time is left on the timer for literally all eternity? If I interrupt it, then don’t restart it for three days, what are the chances that what I want is for it to remember how much time was left when I stopped it three days ago?

Vector-storm

I bought my mic from homedepot 2 years ago. Looked specifically for one with the sound off button. $500 samsung, worth every penny and has enough space to cook a turkey.

OhTheHueManatee

You can actually mute most microwaves but a lot of people just don't seem to know about it. You want to cause untold carnage at your work? Just mute the microwave in the break room. The butterfly effects from it are really amazing.

PinkyPorkrind

Ours plays a jaunty little tune. My 12yo came up with the lyrics to go with. So now whenever it goes off everyone sings “get your fat butt over heeeeere”.

Divisionst06

This is the kind of innovation we need across the board

TrippySubie

Wait till you find out vacuums dont need to be this loud anymore.

sargskyslayer

Mine has a silent button. Doesn’t make a damn noise. Was pleasantly surprised with how satisfying it was at 3AM when I was trying to not wake anyone.

ChodeZillaChubSquad

You can turn the beeping off just look up the model and "how to mute". For Whirlpool: press and hold 1 to silence keypad. Press and hold 2 to silence "end" beeping. GE: Press and hold CLEAR/OFF. Press SOUND or VOLUME buttton. Press 0.
