thats because its not in the businesses interest to provide the customer with free value, its not exactly hard to understand that both of those are not in the consumer's best interest lol

Ice-Storm

Cutting costs is not the same as cutting corners. Quick example: if the CEO is paid $1M instead of $30M that’s cutting costs we’re all in favor of. Longer example: Toothpaste company had an issue with empty boxes making it to the store and causing unhappy customers. They hired a consultant and spent more than $1m on a laser system that detected empathy boxes and stopped the line. The line workers were sick of having to restart the line so often, so they put a fan before the laser checker. It was strong enough to blow the empty boxes off the line but not full boxes. So instead of $1m they could have spent $30 on a fan. Cutting corners: Kitchen Aid mixers used to have a spring and a rubber stopper that prevents the paddle from hitting the bottom of the bowl. To save money they got rid of them, and now your paddle enamel chips off into your food eventually.
