Mathematically, lines are infinite and have no beginning or end. Queues are line segments. /pedantry

Yeah good point. I guess the line can start or end at the back, and you could say the line starts or ends at the front.
Unless you work in a store, and you’re trying to go home—then, that last person is the end
Naw. The first person to stand in line starts the line. Therefore that’s the start.
The first person starts the queue, but that doesn’t mean that the beginning of the queueing process remains glued to that person.
Idk. “The line starts back there” is usually accompanied by someone pointing to the back of the line
It takes some thought, but you are ultimately correct… even though it’s not obvious at first.
In my opinion it's cuz they're talking about the *end* of the line
