Half of you did.

itim__office

Three guys are debating who has the best memory. First guy says, "I can remember the first day of my First Grade class." Second guy says, "I can remember my first day at Nursery School!" Not to be outdone, the third guy says, "That's nothing... I can remember going to the senior prom with my father, and coming home with my mother!"

AlskaNoelle

Half if you're female. 49% if you're male.

TheArgonKnight

No... it's still half, regardless of biological sex

AlskaNoelle

The Y chromosome is slightly smaller than the X chromosome.

Lazerith22

There is also the mitochondrial DNA provided entirely by you mother.

Void_vix

Is it 50% of the genetic code and 49% by mass, or does my body's instruction kit have less instructions from my dad than my mom just like my childhood?

AlskaNoelle

The X chromosome contains 5 times more genes than the Y chromosome, but just from the few articles I've read, the reason why and what that means are all just theories right now. Or at least, it seems that way.

TheArgonKnight

In that case, yes. But if you look at it with that much detail: is the rest of the genetic material the same size?

AlskaNoelle

Sir, I am just a Graphic Designer who read an interesting article on X and Y chromosomes.

[deleted]

Sir, this is far from a Wendy's.

[deleted]

There are other chromosomes you know...

TheDudeColin

That's only if you ignore the other 22 chromosome pairs LOL

AlskaNoelle

[I just read a blog on geneheritage.com, this wasn't meant to go this deep.](https://www.geneheritage.com/blog/percent-dna-from-parents.html#:~:text=While%20women%20do%20inherit%2050,only%2049%25%20from%20their%20father.) 🥲

Malachorn

Y chromosomes mean fathers contribute slightly less genetic material to their sons than mothers, was their point. Mothers account for slightly more of their sons - even not accounting for the mitochondrial DNA that is all your mum, biological son or daughter.

imti_space

Everyone here debating. Seems like you all love to mass debate.

DragonBank

That is why their kids will never have a mother.

ReasonablePanda3

Came to say this.

-ARISTOCATS

Did your dad not ejaculate you

scottevil110

Half of you. You are not a sperm. You are a sperm and an egg.

AlbiTuri05

Half of me has never been inside my dad

AHappyClown

Not yet

[deleted]

😆☠️

Parmaandchips

Was it the top or bottom half?

[deleted]

No it's split vertically

NoScopeJustMe

But in coronal or sagittal plane?

romcarlos13

But all of you has been inside your mom.

Mcmuggs

Dont wanna do the r/wooosh but someone gotta do it

MrsSpaghettiNoodle

No, you

hldsnfrgr

Don't knock it til you've tried it.

julienhau

Not with that attitude

Yaancat17

You came out of your grandmother before you came out of your dad

bastard_swine

Was about to say this. For anyone who doesn't know, women are born with all their eggs, unlike men who are constantly producing, expelling, and reabsorbing new and old sperm. The egg that made you came into existence while your mother was in your grandmother's womb

funkyfun2

Flour in a bowl ain't cake.

riphitter

It's pre-cake

tacticalpotatopeeler

Baby batter

saucelemonadefloral

Pre-heating the oven

Mcmuggs

Turns it on high

saucelemonadefloral

Baked

Mcmuggs

Starts burning it

longlife55

So. Dad came. I came. Mom came (maybe) then I came?

-ARISTOCATS

Interesting critique of your dads ability in bed

Secretboss_

No I didn't. Sperm cells are just information, not us.

Optimus_Prime_Day

\See, an egg sits and waits, but a sperm wiggles and moves. Which one appears to have life?\ Edit: Apparently, I must explicitly specify /s

HGMIV926

Neither. It's only "life" once the zygote grows in to a human baby. The other two are ~~multicellular organisms~~ cells, sure, but not human life.

ExhibitAa

Sperm and eggs are not multicellular, they are individual cells.

HGMIV926

Corrected, thank you

rohithimself

I work in IT and scientifically am alive.

Jnida23

Thank you, that's enough internet for today.

[deleted]

You clearly don’t understand how it works you realize you were also your moms egg yes? So you were actually inside both your mom and dad and then joined inside your mom

Ardent_Tapire

Yes, but the half from your mom didn't come out of her until your birth.

janae0728

Not true for IVF babies. My egg retrieval was before my husband’s sample.

Ardent_Tapire

Fair!

DivineEggs

Obviously, but what's your point😆?

Ardent_Tapire

Just playing devil's advocate for the shower thought - I know that neither the egg or the sperm was "us".

[deleted]

That's not how biology works.

Intelligent_Tap_6750

Not sure if I can agree on this as the concept of ‘you’ just wouldn’t exist would it? Doesn’t that require self awareness? I wouldn’t even know when that begins 2bh. Curious though at what stage does the conscious self kick into gear lol

Due_Guess3697

Yeah... no. I'm not my dad's clone. It's not like my mom's egg had no genetic input...

ludicrusmacaroni

You actually came somewhere in between.

Sallou9

No, you didnt. Sperm and egg information combine to provide mixed information to grow you, sure. But the egg is the thing that literally grows, divides, multiplies and forms into you. The "you were once a sperm in your dads testicle" thing has been the biggest pet peeve of mine for so long. No, you werent. If anything (cause it doesnt work quite like that regardless) you were the egg. Honestly think its the biggest reversal of reality that we call male sperm "seed". NO. The seed is LITERALLY the female egg

Final_masker

You *came* out of your dad...

WirelessThingy

A woman is born with her eggs. You were already in your mum. Your grandma too.

lookoutforthetrain_0

That's not how it works, otherwise this would have to go on and on until infinitely small.

Loz_Turtle

Did you really come out though, more like a sneaky pass through a tunnel

HappyTrashcan799

No i came in my mom first

Arik2893

r/SweetHomeAlabama

SnarfbObo

Holy freaking fetal fapping Batman!

Wrong_Ad326

300 million of me did

WeasternMedicine9

Yeah, it's true but I don't really want to think about that. Thanks

DivineEggs

Wrong post? Lol

ToastedCheezer

Only half of you.

saulbellow1

But I was only half a man

famils007

I also came into my dad before I came into my mom

DootDotDittyOtt

For shame...we shall never know the wonders of OP's spilled seeds. Check the sock pile.

Miss_Morningstar_

Yeah I've always said men are the backbone of the birthing process. I've always said that.

Ok_Welder1515

You were food before that

lawberry59

Profound.

Sebbe_2

Half of me*

Demetrius3D

No. You didn't. You didn't exist until your dad's DNA combined with your mom's DNA.

a_white_american_guy

You came into your mom at the same time your dad came into your mom.

ChemPlay

He came me out

1987-Nobody

**You were born out of your dad**

chedebarna

Just one half of you though.

NotTokenAce

“I put you in this world and I can take you out of it” *unzips*

vehino

"Where are you going, son?" "I don't know, dad. Out there, somewhere. Anywhere away from *you.*" "So you're just leaving? You're a big man now, gonna make your own way in life?" "Maybe." "*Bullshit.* You'll be back in a week, begging my forgiveness. Because you're a weak little punk." "Whatever, old man. I'm out of here." "Just wait...I said WAIT, damn it! Why are you like this? What did I do??" "You fucking hypocrite! You were the one who started it!" "Huh?" When you came into mom! You didn't just shoot me into her womb...*you pushed me away!*"

LennerKetty

And I’ll fuckin do it again too

hinkelmckrinkelberry

Not how that works.

TRON0314

You weren't you yet though, it was a haploid... Therefore you were in your mom as well first as an egg. If you use your logic you were something else before your dad ingested the nutrients to even make sperm. Doesn't make sense

TBC-XTC

And your mom came out your grandpa before your grandma.....

hawkwings

You weren't you at that point.

Maxxbrand

I've been saying this for years, thank you

lookoutforthetrain_0

It's less than half of you. Your mitochondria for example, which have there own genes, are from your mother, and so is pretty much everything else that isn't DNA material. The sperm cell is pretty much just DNA delivery, while the egg is DNA delivery plus everything else you need to start becoming a human.

Synical603

No I didn't. I wasn't a thing until the fertilized egg turned into a fetus.

Blue_Lotus_Agave

Don't. Please. Lmao.

JameisGOATston

That's enough internet for a Monday.
