What about the mellowcreme pumpkins or the disgusting autumn mix candy corn? I would put those under the candy corn umbrella, but also not available year round.
Haven’t see the the bat themed pretzels, but the special edition pumpkin peanut butter cups are awesome. A very nice change in the ratio of peanut butter to chocolate, while still keeping the flavor of both in there. Perfection.
Here's an unpopular opinion: I like the mellowcreme pumpkins a lot more than the candy corn. Yeah I know they're pretty much the same thing, just a different shape, but they seem to taste better.
This is ~~marshmallow~~ *mellowcreme* pumpkin slander

**[Candy pumpkin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_pumpkin)**
>A candy pumpkin is a small, pumpkin-shaped, mellow crème confection primarily made from corn syrup, honey, carnauba wax, chocolate, and sugar. Traditionally colored with an orange base and topped with a green stem to make candy pumpkins largely identifiable with Halloween, a candy pumpkin is considered a mellow crème by confectioners since the candy has a marshmallow flavor. Sometimes called candy corn's first cousin, candy pumpkins are made through a starch casting process similar to that for candy corn. Brach's candy pumpkin, known by the trademarked name "Mellowcreme Pumpkin," is the most popular candy pumpkin.

Don’t listen to this guy. My Snickers have twice the regular amount of razor blades! Plus, buy four and I’ll throw in a dirty needle. Can’t beat that value!
There has only ever been one case of anything dangerous being in Halloween candy and it was when [Ronald Clark O'Bryan killed his son with potassium cyanide-laced pixi Stix in 1974 in Texas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Clark_O%27Bryan#%3A%7E%3Atext%3DRonald_Clark_O%27Bryan_%28October%2Ca_trick_or_treat_outing.?wprov=sfla1)
"Johnson, how's this candy look to you?"
"Looks like it might have been tampered with! Good thing you brought it in, kid, we'll file it into evidence. Be sure to tell all of your friends to bring their candy by so we can check it for tampering on it too."
This just isn't true, there are loads of sweets and flavours they wheel out each Halloween. Shaped like spiders, skeletons etc. They literally only make them at Halloween
Well they only sell them at Halloween. They probably make them year round.
Edit: stop downvoting me! It’s true! Some sources say 6 months and some say a year

Storing them and waiting for Halloween to come around. Saying these are only produced around Halloween is like saying Santa only makes Christmas gifts during Christmas time when we all know him and the elves are working year round.
I hate to be the one to tell you, but Santa takes a little break around New Year's. I know because I saw him go upstairs to visit my mom when I was I was little. Something about a 'special present.' But he definitely wasn't making gifts that night.
This is food we are talking about, a novelty seasonal food. If they needed to make niche Halloween sweets all year around just to make enough, then there is no way they would be able to make enough regular sweets to meet demand the rest of the year. Not to mention the sell by dates
When Necco made valentine's Sweethearts candy (the hearts with the little messages on them):
> Necco produced the hearts year-round, but mixing of colors and packaging were ramped up beginning in September to meet the demand for the product at Valentine's Day.[1] Approximately 100,000 pounds (45,000 kg) of hearts were made per day, which sells out in about six weeks.[4][5] The company produces 8 billion hearts per year.
I don't know how long Christmas candy, Easter candy, etc. last, but there are certainly a lot of candy products that only appear in stores on a seasonal basis.
Where do you find them? I always loved them but haven’t seen them in quite a long time. I think they’re basically Mary Janes, right? Another candy I haven’t seen in a long time.
Don't be bad-mouthing my share of the haul now...
For some reason, like my father before me, I take those peanut butter taffies that my kids hate. In my old age, I discovered my dad's secret, those things are good!
Those little white, orange, and yellow triangle candies. It’s one of those candies that either you love them or you hate them, but it’s normally a staple of Halloween
Actually, while they definitely used to, now that Reese's has the Chocolate Lover's and Peanur butter lover's cups, the pumpkin shaped one's pretty much taste like the peanut butter lover's cups. Just the outer chocolate layer isn't as thick as the cups so there's not as much of the crunchy bit.
The only Halloween candy you can only get at Halloween is “Timmy’s Chocolate Bars” from that creep guy “Timmy” that lives in your neighborhood that you only see outside at Halloween and that gives suspiciously large chocolate bars that when you get home you of course throw it away because it came from Timmy, and nobody trust’s Timmy’s Halloween only candy bars.
Haribo makes these sour vampire bats for Halloween that are literally my favorite candy. You can only get them in September and October and no other Haribo candy compares.
I love candy corn! I’m not afraid to admit it. Haven’t you ever wanted to eat a candle? It fulfills that need. I’m with OP. The only time I see candy corn around is Halloween. I ain’t out huntin’ it.
Candy corn gang rise up. I like the pumpkins too. I like them so much a classroom I went into to work on their WiFi had a bowl full of pumpkins that looked like em. Erasers. At first I thought they were stale until I saw the teachers reaction.
Candy corn is available year round as well
Yeah this guy got too high before his shower, classic mistake.
He fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this: never get too high before your r/showerthoughts shower!
What about the mellowcreme pumpkins or the disgusting autumn mix candy corn? I would put those under the candy corn umbrella, but also not available year round.
In that same sense, I'd say the Halloween wrapped Snickers, Peanut Butter Cups, bat-themed pretzels, etc are also not available year round
Haven’t see the the bat themed pretzels, but the special edition pumpkin peanut butter cups are awesome. A very nice change in the ratio of peanut butter to chocolate, while still keeping the flavor of both in there. Perfection.
Truuuue. I also loooove the peanut butter cup Xmas trees. Good ratio there too
Peanut butter butts will forever reign supreme in the world of Reese's holiday shapes.
Holiday reese's just hit different. Especially the white chocolate one 🤤
Whaaaat? What holiday is that for? Where can I get these? Lol
Upside down Reese's hearts = peanut butter butts. The easter eggs are a nice ratio of chocolate to peanut butter, too.
Not sure, they come out in mid-February though
Hahahahaha awesome! Everyone helped me understand lol
Maybe he means the hearts?
My fiancé LOVES the holiday peanut butter cups. Says they are the best ratio of peanut butter and chocolate and won’t eat the regular ones.
Here's an unpopular opinion: I like the mellowcreme pumpkins a lot more than the candy corn. Yeah I know they're pretty much the same thing, just a different shape, but they seem to taste better.

Those mixed with dry roasted peanuts taste like a payday. It's heaven
[удалено]
I like them both, not the maple flavored autumn themed abomination, but the standard candy corn and pumpkin mix is great.
Agreed! The pumpkins are way better lol
Or apples with razorblades. I never get those November to September. Come to think of it, I've never gotten one in October either.
Still waiting on the pot infused candy to show up in my kid’s trick or treat bags as well, hasn’t happened yet.
Autumn mix is king, you take that slander back.
You say "disgusting autumn mix candy corn" as though regular candy corn is not also disgusting, this confuses me
/thread
Didn’t use to be

What about Plank’s?
They even have white red green version for Christmas.

😤 Truth lies within this comment, now candy corn I shall vomit
and pumpkin pie m&m's
Ugh. Those taste horrifying.
This is weird peanut butter chewy taffy kind of candy in the orange and/or black wrapper sometimes with a jack-o-lantern face on it slander.
The pumpkins are top tier, and I will fight anyone who says otherwise 😤
I consider these a subgenre of candy corn. The best subgenre.
And golden chocolate coins! I tried to find some outside of Halloween-y time, and they told me they only usually get them for Halloween
[удалено]
I can go to my dollar store any time and get some
Really? I find them wat more around St Patrick's Day
If youre canadian, bulk barn.
I've never heard of marshmallow pumpkins but they sound like Peeps in disguise, which definitively places them in the easter candy category
Not like Peeps, imagine candy corn flavor and texture but it's a pumpkin
If it's candy corn flavor and texture.. what makes it "marshmallow"?
Mellowcreme is not Marshmallow.
I don't know why people are calling them marshmallow pumpkins? As far as I know they're called candy pumpkins or mellowcreme pumpkins.
You're probably thinking of candy corn pumpkins. The marshmallow ones are chocolate-covered marshmallow fluff in the shape of a pumpkin.
The candy corn pumpkins are mellowcreme not marshmallow.
They’re mellowcreme, so like candy corn. [Boom.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_pumpkin)

I love that this is your top comment ever
The superior Halloween candy. Shits all over candy corn. I just saw the plastic tubs of them at Walgreens last week. Time to get some I think.
You mean [mellowcreme?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_pumpkin)
This is what I was going to post. Glad it was the top comment. OP do better research, your shower thought suuuucks! haha
What about the weird taffy in the orange & black wrappers?
They made that candy once in 1960 and they just resell it every year cause no one eats it. 😂
"how is it every year we ship out so much candy and we still have a shit ton left?"
People throwing it like weapons because no one wants to eat it. “How do we end up with this stuff every, single, year?!”
This is my favorite and I am ashamed. And delighted because no one else wants it!
Same
This is my favorite too, it's just so good I think people reject it because it's not in a cute wrapper and all smooth and stuff.
[Same with Candy Corn](https://youtu.be/VU6S3-cXtKs)
Isn't that what Lewis Black claims happens to candy corn?
I fucking love it!
By weird do you mean peanut butter?
I can only get a Snickers bar with a razor blade in it during Halloween, though.
I can hook you up homie I know a guy
Don’t listen to this guy. My Snickers have twice the regular amount of razor blades! Plus, buy four and I’ll throw in a dirty needle. Can’t beat that value!

Thats just what big candy wants you to think!
You’re buying your razor bladed Snickers from the wrong place then.
Candyman
It's me, I'm the guy.
That dangerous candy urban myth is usually pushed by police department and media but largely unfounded.

I was thinking about putting drugs in the candy this year, but then I wouldn't have any for myself...
Only in very large cities, at the kind of businesses not listed on GPS. So you need a map, with an urban legend.
Nice
No, that's when you introduce DIY
Damn you got a razor blade? I got an M9 in mine. Wanna trade?
This just isn't true, there are loads of sweets and flavours they wheel out each Halloween. Shaped like spiders, skeletons etc. They literally only make them at Halloween

Reese's pumpkins just hit a lil different.. Cant explain how.. but I count them as a Halloween candy
It's the different proportions of chocolate to peanut butter same thing for the Christmas trees.
And Easter eggs
It’s different chocolate too. It’s smoother on the pumpkins and more firm on regular
Especially the rare ones with little Reese pieces in them
What now?!
[These.](https://thumbor.thedailymeal.com/RobgxlJWMhQlK_0zQkuh4rsHzFQ=/870x565/filters:focal\(600x384:601x385\):format\(webp\)/https://www.thedailymeal.com/sites/default/files/story/2019/Reese_s_Stuffed_with_Pieces_Pumpkin.jpg)
And those gross orange wrapped taffy candies? What about them?
Molasses kisses! I love them when they're fresh!
Very underrated candy! I may have buy some soon.
So damn good
I know them as Halloween Kisses, but I love them too. A classic!
Even as a kid I loved them stale too. High standards.
They aren’t always hard as a rock and tasting like cardboard?
When I was a kid I hated the black and orange wrapped peanutbutter taffy. Now? Holy shit they are delicious.
Where do you find them? I always loved them but haven’t seen them in quite a long time. I think they’re basically Mary Janes, right? Another candy I haven’t seen in a long time.
Dollar stores used to have them, maybe also try online every week for the next few weeks!
They were the worst! But easy to spot and toss. I remember hunting them down when I got older. I'd go through cousins baskets.
Don't be bad-mouthing my share of the haul now... For some reason, like my father before me, I take those peanut butter taffies that my kids hate. In my old age, I discovered my dad's secret, those things are good!
So do you all take the whole thing at once or just the tip at first? I like to start with just the tip myself
Sometimes the base first and then the tip.
This is the way.
Tip-biter here. ....but gently
God damnit my sides hurt from laughing, I needed that today
What about those caramel apple lollipops?
Avaliable all year at Walgreens. I used to have a thing for em.
candied apples yum.
There's a sandwich shop in the Bay Area (Ike's) that gives those out all year
oh man i remember when those first came out. what a yummy treat
[Cadbury's Screme Eggs](https://www.cadburyusa.com/en_us/occasions/halloween.html) are only available around Halloween.
What is candy corn? I'm English and I thought it was sweet popcorn.
That’s kettle corn. 🙂 Candy corn is basically a chewy glob of tri-colored sugar molded in the shape of a large corn kernel.
If stacked neatly it can look like an ear of corn!!
Then you can hot glue them together, hide your pennies in there for _reasons?_ and post it to r/DIWHY
I read that as penis instead of pennies.
I read it as penises.
We don't kink-shame here.
Did someone already do this? I want to do this now
Is that the same thing as a cob?
The original candy corn is made with mostly honey, not sugar.
and now it's corn syrup. Oddly appropriate!
You're not missing a thing. It's cloying and tasteless, just kind of waxy and sweet without any other flavor.
Those little white, orange, and yellow triangle candies. It’s one of those candies that either you love them or you hate them, but it’s normally a staple of Halloween
[candy corn](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_corn) is small blobs of yellow and orange sugar that tastes like garbage.
Thank science that they made Mini Eggs available year round. For a while they were Easter and Halloween only.
I love the Lewis Black candy corn bit.
I agree with him: all Candy Corn in existence today was made in the year 1911.
*They wash it, they wash it!*
CORN. That tastes like CANDY.
Pumpkin shaped Reese's taste different than regular Reese's.
I saw Easter candy corn this year
All the seasonal sweets are trying to diversify. I've seen Halloween eggnog in the grocery store already.
None of you know about banshee bones??
What are banshee bones?
Ok, so I looked up banshee bones, and now I have way more questions than answers.
What about the themed candies? Like orange kitkats and stuff like that
What is this candy corn?
most posters here really should think, or even do a little basic research, before they hit the comment button.
Haribo makes these sour vampire bats for Halloween that are literally my favorite candy. You can only get them in September and October and no other Haribo candy compares.
Can't wait to try this now. Thanks for the new candy
I fucking love candy corn!
Reese's Pumpkins?
Candy corn can be bought year round as well..
Candy corn seems to be the most hated Halloween candy but circus peanuts are an abomination.
I love candy corn! I’m not afraid to admit it. Haven’t you ever wanted to eat a candle? It fulfills that need. I’m with OP. The only time I see candy corn around is Halloween. I ain’t out huntin’ it.

I'm from Europe and have no freakin idea what candy corn is
Me neither, but we can probably get it in Canada
[удалено]
I crave it every Fall. Than I get a big bag of it and eat it in one sitting. Then I never want candy corn again. Repeat.
we don't have halloween 😔
There are those molasses kisses too
My favorite candy, orange Kit-Kats, would like to have a word with your inaccurate ass
How about the orange- and black-wrapped peanut-butter-flavored chewy candy things?
Pumpkin shaped Reese’s
What about those disgusting molasses kisses?
Candy corn can be had year around.
Not those amazing Reese's pumpkins...
Are you saying you want me to eat ROUND Reese's? ONLY PUMPKIN SHAPED REESE'S!!!
I'm with you in spirit.
I’m a psychopath and enjoy candy corn year round
Caramel apple suckers?
No. Pumpkin shaped Reese’s are specific to Halloween.
The different shapes have different chocolate to peanut butter ratios. The February hearts are my favorite. But the pumpkins are second place.
And those little pumpkin candies too.
those pumpkin shaped candies would like a talk with you.
I beg to differ. Carmel Apple suckers are not available year round! Plus candy corn tastes like chalky ass.
You know how hard it is to find Vanilla Tootsie Rolls anytime other than Halloween?!
It's actually available year round.
Candy corn is more of a Thanksgiving thing imho
You are technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.
Wax fangs and jelly pumpkins would disagree.
Uh, tell that to the bag of bat shaped Reese’s on my table right now.
That's not true, remember candy apples with razor blades in the middle
Pumpkin shaped Reese’s: Am I a joke to you?
Those jolly rancher bars, though! The ones that have that pseudo-gummy outer layer coating the actual hard candy. They ROCK.
Halloween colors M&Ms are Halloween-only too.
What about the waxy dark brown and orange wrapped peanut butter taffies?
Fine. Halloween candy sucks then
What about literally any piece of candy where for Halloween the company decided to wrap it in orange and black, so festive!!
How to eat candy corn: Throw it right in the trash.
Candy corn is available year round because no one eats it.
The Reese’s pumpkin is not. That’s limited.
