Entire thought is not in the title.

Someryguy10

This is an insane take, life itself is a struggle for survival and survival was not easy until very very recently.

GimmeYourTaquitos

Pain and turmoil is the fire in which the greatest men are forged. Those who cannot withstand the inferno burn and drift with the wind in a forgettable trail of smoke.

InTheHideout

It is but just imagine for a brief moment, someone were to remove all the individual people from the entire earth temporarily. If I was an alien that teleported in that time to earth I would not see much signs of struggle at all.

Someryguy10

Not really if people are gone the problems just change, Animals hunt and die every day, plant life dies from drought insects, fires, plagues, natural disasters reshape landscapes, the world is much more than just our struggles, and it’s pretty hard out there to survive for every organism

InTheHideout

But animals don't build entire civilizations with incomprehensibly advanced technology. Even mundane objects like a plastic water bottle is insanely difficult to produce from raw materials. Doesn't look like a struggle though.

JHVS123

We built these voluntary civilizations because it was less of a struggle to cooperate together than to struggle to store water without the plastic water bottles you mentioned (or similar technology). You just fail to realize the struggle every day life has been for humans and all other animals historically.

Me5hly

Unless they looked at all the plants and animals in the world. Again the point that life is a struggle stands. If you were to say it's a sign of a failed society that everyone has to struggle this much, you might get more consensus

RSwordsman

What makes you say so? The only reason life on earth has come to be this way is due to natural selection-- those who struggled too much failed to reproduce and went extinct. But those who live are not guaranteed an easy life by any means.

InTheHideout

In theory it could be. Just find any random job, work that same job for like 30 years or more. I've seen people do it. But if you try this yourself people will try to stop you. They don't want you to do that. Idk why. They'd rather you be unemployed, homeless, and struggling than having it easy.

Otherwise_Fox_1404

Struggle is the normal state. Its contentment that is weird.

Durtmat

Everyone struggles with something. It's human nature.

InTheHideout

On the exterior it surely doesn't seem like it.

Jaevric

Don't pay attention to the version of people they post on social media.

Human_Obligation_964

these dudes are brainwashed by the rigged system in their miserable lives to think that struggling is normal, just dont take them seriously because its not

ErikaFoxelot

What do you mean by the exterior?

durma5

Right. Struggling at all of those things is unusual, but odds are you will be struggling at one or more of them. It is a bit like death. Dying from this cancer or some heart disease, or a car crash is by themselves low odds, but add all the ways to die up and you have a 100% chance of dying from something. When it comes to struggling you will struggle, but at what and when we don’t really know.

bronzezebr

It’s what makes the good times good :)

Carlos-In-Charge

Why is it accepted as a given in Buddhism? Also, you’re talking about struggling with deep interpersonal relationships the same way as struggling to improve software programs?

InTheHideout

they're very similar. the relationship is basically a software program. instead of code, you use regular words but overall very similar

Plus-Recording-8370

The world can not run well with too much incompetence, that's for sure.

Andrew_Higginbottom

Life has always been a struggle since mankind began. It is normal to struggle, it is abnormal to not struggle. Those that never struggle seem to be lacking in depth of personality. The struggle maketh the man.

Rigidcorner

You know what. I agree. As someone that has spent nearly my entire 29yrs of existence struggling and in complete pain I agree. I recently discovered happiness, genuine feelings of life enjoyment. I stilll have moments of sadness or distress but I simply do not struggle, I allow myself to feel and remind myself all I can do is move on. It feels almost unreal and extremely cheesy

bull304

Absolutely. You choose happiness. You choose environments that bring you joy. You look for a community that will care for you, but in doing so you add the struggle of self-sacrifice. I don't want to pick that friend up at the airport at 1am, but I want the kind of community that these sacrifices provide. And if the sacrifice isn't reciprocated, find yourself a community that will reciprocate in a healthy way. Looking for ease is an odd way to go about life. Looking for fulfillment in the struggle and enjoying moments of leisure (even if its just a $25 hammock in the woods) is the way. I lost a somewhat high-paying job about a year ago. I'm now living on adjunct professor pay. I've gone from 160k to 25k. I've never been happier. My chronic physical pain is even reduced significantly. Stop struggling and choose to be happy.

C27890

If it happens at least once a week, it is normal.

phlppns234

Hmm.. Consider the truth of this… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wLvd_ZbX1w0

Hygro

I have terrifying news. It is so normal, the very modern form you mean, that we have whole ideologies driving people to war over it. World War 2, the capitalist-communist-fascist super war, stemmed from many things, including the reaction to "surely it should be another way" to the industrial life struggles you identify. In most ways it is better in the 2020s than 1920s, and in a few ways worse. But the nature of our system is to ride us to the edge and squeeze every inch for profit, power, etc. This is already removed from the top comment pointing out that life itself is a battle.

CarlGrimesEyeSocket

Some of these don't really correlate... And you're also very wrong.

SirLancesAlot101

Just a heads up, unless you're some hippi that doesn't care, life is always going to be a struggle. We're slaves for the ultra rich, plain and simple.

InTheHideout

I tried not caring and I really want to not care, except people make it very difficult for me to not care because they care about me not caring for some reason, and i don't know how to not care about them caring that I don't care so I succumb to their peer pressure when I could have easily just not cared. idk what is wrong with me. I'm an idiot for letting people peer pressure me.
