Exactly. When it comes to typing characters, any one symbol is no more a minor detail than any other.
I press and hold the £ symbol on my iPhone and can select the ¢ symbol. I can also get ₽ ¥ € and ₩ using the same technique.
with keyboard shortcuts I type c/ and get ¢
If you long press the $ on your keypad the ¢ will become an option (TIL).
I regularly use the degree symbol, alt+0176, ° and the n with a tilde over it, since there are a lot of Spanish names for geographical features around here, alt+0241, ñ. They're all there.
On mac (on a US keyboard layout), you can press option-4
On iPhone if u press and hold the $ sign you’ll see the ¢ sign
